"Do you know where you are?" Percy questioned, leaning forward in his chair towards the brunette.
"Camp Half-Blood, right?"
Percy stopped, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. He wondered how Finn had known about Camp and how he had known to come here. He had so many questions swimming around in his head, waiting patiently for answers.
"How did you..."
"You aren't the first demi-god I've met Percy. And you most certainly will not be the last."
Percy studied Finn's face, watching as his eyes shifted around, sharing the same stare Percy was giving him. He noticed as Finn's cracked lips parted slightly. And that way Finn's chocolate brown eyes dug into his mind.
"Good to know," Percy finally said after a moment of silence. They both looked away, finding other things to look at instead.
There was silence once again, only occasionally being broken by the quiet beeping of a heart monitor. They remained that way for a while, only being broken when lunch was brought in for Finn.
Finn was in the infirmary for 4 days.
A couple times a day, Percy would leave the infirmary to eat, shower, etc., and when he was done, he would go right back to the infirmary to spend time with Finn. At night, he would go to bed in Cabin 3, just to come back at 9:45 AM every morning with a plate of food and a large glass of sweet tea (which Finn had said was his favorite).
For the most part, Percy would wake Finn up. But on the rare occasions Finn was awake before he arrived, he laid in bed excitedly waiting to talk with Percy. They both loved spending time with one another. They'd get lost in their conversations, letting hours go by before they even realized the time. They would laugh and smile. And there were the few moments when Finn would laugh and Percy would smile, watching him carefully, admiring the sound of his laugh and his tanned skin. The dark hair, which was still matted in some areas, falling over his face, making him need to run his fingers through to push it back. And the way he would squint at things and press his lips together (which Percy later found out was because Finn couldn't see worth shit).
He was stunning.
On the final day Finn was there, Percy walked into the infirmary with his tray of food and glasses like usual. It was 9:36 AM. When he got there, he saw Finn dangling his legs off the bed, fully sitting up without any support. Will was there too, replacing the bandages covering his body.
"Wow!"
Finn looked up and smiled, his eyes meeting Percy's.
"Will says I am free to leave the infirmary today. Apparently I am stable enough!"
Percy set down the trays and walked over to Finn. "Lets go! I'm so happy for you."
What Finn didn't expect was Percy to pull him into a gentle hug, wrapping his arms around Finn's body. It was very cautious, as Percy didn't want to mess with Finn's healing wounds.
For a moment, Finn didn't know what to do. But, eventually, he wrapped his arms around Percy's torso, pulling him in tighter than before.
"Thanks."
When they went to pull away, they lingered much longer than intended. With their faces only a few inches apart, their eyes met. Finn stared into Percy's sea green eyes, feeling a wave of emotion wash over him. His eyes were like magnets. He couldn't pull himself away no matter how hard he tried.
For the first time, Finn was close enough that he could make out the details of Percy's face. His pale, freckly skin. His long eyelashes. His lips...
Crash! "Fuck!" Crash!
Finn and Percy turned quickly, immediately turning to see what had happened. A rather large tray of medical supplies now lay across the floor in pieces, with one of the Apollo kids standing in front looking stressed.
"Landon that's the third time this month! What the hell!" Will walked over, sighing, and began picking up the bigger items.
Percy turned back towards Finn and chuckled. He pulled away fully so he could hand Finn his breakfast tray before they left the infirmary.
Percy spent the rest of the afternoon showing Finn around Camp. They started with the buildings around the infirmary before slowly making their way towards the cabins. Percy explained what claiming was, and how before you were claimed you stayed in the Hermes Cabin, aka Cabin 11. It didn't take long for Finn to wrap his mind around it as he already knew that he was a demi-god, just not who his parent was.
When they reached the cabins, Percy began showing each one individually.
"Cabin 1, Zeus, and Cabin 2, Hera, don't have anyone in them. They are more for showing respect then housing demi-gods," Percy explained. "Up until a few years ago, no children of Zeus were actually alive. But then Thalia came back and life was good I guess. She doesn't really stay in Cabin 1."
"Came back? What do you mean..."
"Long story. Anyway!" Percy continued walking until he reached Cabin 3.
"Cabin 3, Poseidon. That's where I stay," Percy explained. Finn remembered the few times Percy had mentioned being a child of Poseidon while he was in the infirmary. It would just occasionally come up in conversation.
"My dad is pretty cool I guess. I mean, he was never there for me. Literally at all. I just kind of existed without a father figure for most of my life. So y'know..."
"I get it. I have daddy issues too."
Percy had no time to react to Finn's words before an Aphrodite kid noticed them.
"Hey Percy!" Josie spoke with a smile. "Who's your friend here?"
"Thhis- This is Finn. He just got out of the infirmary today so I'm showing him around," Percy explained, stumbling over his words slightly. He was still taken aback about what Finn had said.
"Oh cool cool! I'm Josie. So, you're new here?" Josie questioned, tilting her head.
"Yeah," Finn began, "I got here a few days ago but I had to be in the infirmary till I was stable."
"I get it, I get it. Yeah. Well, I'm glad you're relatively healed now. But I did notice..." Her eyes shifted to Finn's hair. She frowned.
"My hair is shit right now, I know." Finn chuckled with a smile.
"I can fix that for you if you'd like."
Finn turned his head slightly toward Percy, who kind of gave him that shrug and 'Go for it' expression. He turned back to Josie.
"Yeah sure, I'd like that!"
Josie and some of the other Aphrodite kids spent a few hours de-matting Finn's hair, and then another 2 hours washing and styling it. When it was done, it was even more beautiful than before. Finn's hair appeared a bit shorter at first, but when it was brushed out and washed, it was long, a bit above the shoulder. Now, you could clearly see red and orange streaks in his hair, laying across his head in waves. It contrasted the dark brown wonderfully.
Percy couldn't deny that Finn was handsome. The kind of handsome that reminds someone of a warm, rainy day, cuddled tightly in a fluffy blanket, resting by candlelight. The kind of handsome that reminds someone of the best coffee or tea, warm and sweet.
The kind of handsome you easily get lost in.
"What do you think?" Finn questioned Percy as he peered into one of the mirrors he'd been given.
"You- You look great! Yeah." Percy smiled softly, watching as Finn ran his fingers through his hair.
"Thanks!"
They turned towards one another and smiled.
"I'm really glad you like it! It looks absolutely fantastic on you. You look gorgeous," Josie spoke, a large smirk across her lips.
"He really does." Percy’s voice was low, so that no one could hear his words. He admired Finn from afar, not really wanting to tell anyone how he was feeling.
"You guys scrap part of your plate into the fire before every meal?"
Finn and Percy were walking back to Cabin 11, so that Finn could be introduced and settle down. They had just finished up at dinner, which they had to leave for immediately after Finn's hair got fixed.
"Yup. Every single one. We gotta show appreciation to our parents in Olympus somehow," Percy explained, eyes shifting between the ground in front of him and Finn.
"So I show my appreciation by giving them my chicken nuggets?"
"Exactly."
"Understandable. I would want someone to give me chicken nugget offerings too."
The two arrived in front of the Hermes cabin. Percy glanced over at Finn before pushing the cabin door open. Upon entry, a few people looked over at them, wonder flashing over their faces.
Finn noticed the sheer number of people in the cabin. Maybe 30 or 40 that were all cramped into bunk beds with tiny dressers (ones that you could probably find at Walmart for $10).
"So uh- this is Finn," Percy began, "He's new. He was in the infirmary for a while and now that he's out, he waiting to be claimed."
A couple sighs could be heard across the cabin.
"Maria!" Percy called out. An older girl, maybe around 18-19, made her way towards the pair. She had brown hair that fell down her back in two braids and fairly pale skin. There were tattoos covering her right arm.
"Hello!" She waved slightly.
"This is Maria," Percy explained. "She's the current head counselor of the cabin. She'll help you get settled in and things."
"Great!" Finn said simply, not really knowing what else to say.
Percy turned and his eyes locked with Finn's. "I have to go now unfortunately. I have catch-up training tomorrow and that's really gonna suck if I don't get sleep. If you need anything though, I'll be in Cabin 3."
"Alright. Thanks Percy."
"Of course. Goodnight!"
"Goodnight."
The two shared a smile before Percy left the cabin, leaving Finn with its inhabitants.
"Awesome! So." Maria turned and began heading towards a bunk in the corner of the room. Finn noticed someone who was already asleep in the bottom bunk. "You'll be sleeping here." She gestured to the top bunk. "Miles is on the bottom. He doesn't really talk to anyone. Me and the others are wondering if he's an introvert or just didn't give a shit. Still don't know. Either way, you should probably leave him be."
"Got it?"
"Lights out in about..." Maria glanced at a clock on the wall. "15 minutes. You can go to sleep now if you want. Most just choose to stay up until they absolutely have to sleep."
"Got it."
"If you need anything let me know. I sleep it that bunk over there," she pointed to a bottom bunk at the other end of the cabin. "And if you have any belongings, put them in the top drawer of your dresser."
"Got it. Thanks Maria."
"Anytime! Sleep well Finn."
"I'll try," Finn said with a slight chuckle.
Maria walked away towards a group of other cabin members. Finn sighed and climbed up the ladder onto his bed. He flopped back, his head landing on the pillow, which was surprisingly soft for a summer camp pillow.
Memories flashed in his head. Memories of everything that had happened within the last week. Memories of the terrible events that brought him here in the first place.
At some point, he would need to tell Percy. But now was not the time for that. Now was the time to sleep to at least temporarily forget all the pain. Forget all the screaming.
And most importantly, forget that he wouldn't be alive much longer.

It was late one June night when Percy was shaken awake with such intensity he felt his whole bed move violently.
"Percy!"
His eyes fluttered open slightly, his brain still not awake.
"What the hell- Annabeth?" Percy did not expect one of his best-friends to be standing next to his bedside at 2 AM, practically yelling for him.
"What do you want?"
"Chiron needs us in the infirmary. He says it's urgent," Annabeth responded, her voice laced with concern and urgency.
Percy didn't have much time to react before Annabeth was pulling him out of his bed. Her hand grasped firmly on his arm, half pulling him along as he stumbled out of Cabin 3. It later occurred to him that he had no shoes or socks on and was just walking barefoot in the slightly damp grass.
It took them a moment to reach the infirmary, but when they did, they immediately saw what Chiron meant. What they saw first was all the bustling activity. People rushing around the room with needles and gauze, water and ambrosia, and varying other items.
The next thing they noticed was a person, laying on the bed, their eyes slits from fading in and out of consciousness. Them and their clothes were covered in blood. Deep, crimson stains made their clothes stick to their skin like glue. Whatever skin you could see was covered in cuts, bruises, and heavy amounts of dirt.
They looked deathly pale. As in, their skin had lost most of its coloring and their lips had turned a shade of blueish-purple. Their dark hair stuck to their head in wet chunks, like some of it was heavily matted while the rest laid soaking wet.
Percy had no idea if this kid was still alive. Even if he was, how the fuck?
"Oh my gods..." Annabeth muttered, her voice low with shock.
Percy didn't really know what to say or do. He was fully awake now, but that did not mean he knew what the best course of action was.
"What happened?" Percy asked. His voice too was low.
"We don't know," Will stated as he rushed between a tray and this person's beside, "All we know is that Chiron woke up to screaming coming from Thalia's tree. When he got there, he saw him and immediately called for anyone who could help to help."
Percy noticed that Will, like himself, was still wearing his PJs, which consisted of the normal Apollo Cabin wear (a band t-shirt and flannel pants). He looked pretty tired, but that was not stopping him from doing whatever he could for this random boy.
"What can I do to help?"
It was early into the morning before they got the boy stabilized enough. Percy had not been the only one who wondered how he was still alive. Apparently, according to Will, he had wounds over an inch deep in some areas and burns bordering on 3rd degree in others. His heart rate had been so low they wondered how it hadn't stopped all together.
But thankfully, there he laid in a fresh pair of clothes, unconsciousness and very wounded, but still alive.
Percy sat with Chiron at the end of his bed. They sat in silence, Chiron deep in thought while Percy watched the boy carefully. He didn't seem to think it was creepy in anyway, he was more in thought than anything.
And there was something about him that pulled Percy in.
"Percy," Chiron finally spoke, "You and I know very well that this boy is a demi-god, just like everyone else here."
"Yes sir," Percy responded simply.
"And in my time here at Camp, I have seen a lot of demi-gods arrive in terrible condition. But this... This is something else."
Percy listened, his eyes shifting from the dark haired boy in the bed to the tall centaur.
"I need you to watch him. To stick with him. To keep him company and keep him safe."
Percy paused, his mind processing the words. "So do you want me to be his bodyguard?"
Chiron chuckled slightly. "No Percy, I mean more like a friend."
Percy liked to make friends at Camp. The people (most of them) were pretty nice to him and liked to hang out when they got the chance. So why should this be any different?
"Yeah sure. I mean, I guess I don't mind that."
Chiron smiled warmly, his hand patting Percy's shoulder. "Thank you."
And just like that, Chiron left, leaving Percy alone with the boy in the small infirmary room.
Percy had no idea what to do from there. It was 6:30 AM, the sun had risen, casting a beautiful array of colors across the land. He was alone with someone he didn't know and who was completely unconsciousness. And of course he was absolutely exhausted.
He didn't want to leave the boy by himself. So, he sat back down in one of the plush chairs and closed his eyes, letting himself fall into a light sleep.
"Hello?"
Percy shot up, completely forgetting where he was or what was happening. That was of course until he saw the boy, laying in his hospital bed. This time however, his eyes were open, revealing a beautiful chocolate brown.
"Oh! Hi!" Percy exclaimed, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hand. "Uh- I'm Percy. Percy Jackson. Uh- what's your name?" He smiled as he spoke.
"Finn. My name is Finn."
"Finn. Finn. Got it," Percy repeated, engraining it into his memory. "How are you feeling?"
"Like absolute shit," Finn said with a slight chuckle. He looked down slightly, noticing his different pair of clothes. "They took my fucking clothes!"
"Yeah, they did. They had to change them out because they were kind of covered in blood and dirt," Percy responded lightheartedly and with a smile.
"Does that mean they saw my ass?"
"Unfortunately yes."
"Damn."
Even though it hurt, Finn couldn't help but smile and laugh. Percy couldn't help it either. Finn's laugh was contagious.
Once the laughter had died down, they looked at each other, a sense of seriousness passing over them.
"What happened?" Percy questioned, leaning forward to rest against his legs.
Memories seemed to pass over Finn's eyes as the question replayed in his head. He remained silent for a long moment before answering.
"I... I don't know."
"The fuck you mean?"
"I mean that I don't understand it. It's just all so much and I feel like if I talk about it it will all come crashing in on me."
"Oh." Percy paused for a moment. He looked at Finn, who stared down at his own fidgeting hands. For a brief moment, Percy could see tears in Finn's eyes before he turned away, blocking Percy's view.
"When... when stuff started happening to me and when shit eventually hit the fan, I had no clue what to do. I was lost. I was really scared. But, y'know, I found people who knew exactly what I was going through. People who had experienced nearly the exact same things as me. And that did not solve the issues, but it at least gave me a sense of... what's the word? longing? yeah. It gave me a sense of longing. And suddenly I wasn't so lost."
Slowly, Finn turned his head toward Percy, who could see the evidence of tears on his face. There was a moment of silence, before Finn smiled and spoke.
"That's really poetic."
"Thank you. I'm glad my trauma has made you feel better with its poeticness."
Percy smiled. As the two smiled, Finn couldn't help but notice how beautiful Percy looked with his smile and those sea-green eyes.
Maybe things wouldn't be so bad.

Soul Parent Diaries, Pt 1
tw: religious talk (Christianity and Paganism), Metaphysical type stuff, very brief toxic family mention
DISCLAIMER: I am not saying there is anything wrong with the Christian beliefs. If you would like to believe in that, that's completely up to you. I am just speaking my experience.
Having Hellenic/Pagan beliefs is really interesting, especially when you have a soul parent.
I was raised as a Christian. My family and I would go to church as often as possible, participate in church events, and send my sister and I to the youth groups. Now, I never really felt attached to the Christian beliefs. I never really felt like I belonged. Which seemed really contradictory, given the various Christian beliefs, but y'know.
Now, for the last few years, I've been really attached to the Hellenic beliefs. Which, if you don't know, is the belief of the Greek Gods. For the longest time, it's just felt more realistic and believable than the Christian beliefs. And for most of that time, I have felt very attached to Apollo.
It was a few months ago when I realized what soul parents are and that I am in fact a child of Apollo.
You see, people can have varying connections to the Gods. Everyone is different. It could be a mentor/teacher type connection, a friend/friendly connection, and in some cases, a parental type connection. A soul parent is a God you have a parental type connection with.
For me, I have that parental connection with Apollo. I feel as if he treats me like his child. And since my family life is quite toxic, it's really comforting to know Apollo treats me like his child. That he cares about me. That I'm never alone.
Having a soul parent like this is really comforting for me. It helps me in ways I haven't been able to find otherwise.
