It’s just interesting to observe the differences in how people treat Zukka vs how they treat Zutara. Because searched Zutara on TikTok to look for some edits and the comments were filled to the brim with people saying “But Katara belonged with Aang 🥺” or “How can you ship Zuko with her after Mai said such a romantic line?” Or perhaps the most insufferable of all “Maturing is realizing that Zuko would’ve thrown himself in from of lightning for ANYONE” as if that’s some revolutionary reading of the text. It’s so irritating how this kind of behaviour is…accepted by the fandom.

But you don’t get that with Zukka, instead you see people gushing over how sweet they are together, hailing it as a wholesome and unproblematic ship, praising artworks of it with positivity and appreciation. It’s difficult to find much negativity under Zukka posts, you won’t see people saying “But Sokka belongs with Suki 🥺” or boldly going on a tangent about how another ship is SO much better. I saw one person praise Zukka as the most unproblematic ATLA ship because of how little conflict there was about it, that you wouldn’t see the same hostility among that fandom as you might with Zutara.

But there’s a reason for that which has less to do with Zutara shippers themselves, and more to do with the harassment and hostility they face on all sides of the fandom. Fans will go out of their way to antagonize Zutara shippers, they’ll feel brazen enough to leave backhanded or outright hostile comments under Zutara posts and art, they’ll interject their shipping opinions in spaces where nobody asked and condescend Zutara shippers by framing them as shallow or delusional for shipping it.

I think Zukka is admittedly cute, and they definitely have their haters, but the difference between it and Zutara is astounding. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch this phenomenon play out, especially when these shippers carry themselves with a kind of false moral superiority that can only be found in shipping discourse.

tried to avoid it for as long as possible but anyone who still checks this blog has probably seen it coming. this isn’t me saying i’ll be gone forever. i still wanna finish detention song and I had so many other plans when I started this blog but that was a long time ago when I was in a different place and latched into bts to be my support.

i realize it’s been years since I’ve written for this blog, but I truly do want to finish DS. i have the entire fic planned out in bullet points in the notes app on my phone. however, i started this blog when bts was my coping mechanism and my then hyper-fixation. for like two years I lived and breathed bts. now that is no longer true and it hasn’t been for a while which is why all my activity stopped. so it’s harder for me to write for them than it used to be. i also believe my writing style changed since then but i hope not too much.

tldr: yes, but be patient with me. it might take a while. there’s still multiple chapters to look forward to!

This country claims to be democratic but 9 unelected people who's values and opinions formed decades prior, who can get into this position without strong or even any valid credentials, can decide to negatively impact or even destroy millions of lives and they cannot be held accountable for it. They can't be impeached or voted out. It's only the most convoluted combination of election-year voting, voter suppression/lack thereof, and idk fucking cowardice from both sides that got any of them to where they are now. 9 people who are cemented in their beliefs and then use the law and constitution to justify their moral opinions that they insist don't influence their rulings at all. We can't vote then out. We just have to hope they retire or die under the presidency of someone who doesn't want to actively kill everything, and eve then we have to contend with any given republican or spineless Democrat in the Senate.

And even then, we cannot get rid of them. Nine people make decisions for 300+ million, affecting their ability to defend themselves, to live peacefully, to lead healthy and happy and safe lives. Nine people can ruin lives for decades to come.

hi friends, my names bonne, i’m a 24 year old black, autistic, nonbinary gay who needs help getting away from my toxic and abusive family members to get to safer housing for me and my pup.

i was diagnosed with type one diabetes october of 2020, and ever since everything has gone down hill. i have been in dka (diabetic ketoacidosis) twice now (am currently trying to heal from it) due to not being able to consistently regulate my diabetes from lack of access to insulin. my blood sugar constantly drops and spikes, and since i could only afford short acting insulins, i entered dka again. i will need $90 to be able to afford my long lasting insulin within the next three days, which is the most important and urgent need i have. because of dka and my diabetes basically destroying my body, i need constant nausea meds that help my intestinal spasms, which cost $42.

aside from that, i need help repairing my car so that i can get away from a toxic family member who has attempted multiple times to physically harm me and constantly abuses me verbally. so far, almost all the funds in my puypol pool have been put towards my car in the shop, and they said i would need roughly $700 more to fix it to where it would run good as new. i am currently talking with a family friend who is willing to let me rent a room, but they will be charging me a $350 rent as well as $100 upfront for bills for the rest of my stay with them.

i have lived in constant fear and anxiety since july of 2021 and want nothing more than for this nightmare to end. i am not safe, i am unwanted where i am and the people that do care about me live states away where i cannot reach them unless my car is fixed. i have a job and work as often as i can, but due to my current health issues and car problems i am unable to work full time or find a second job. all of my paycheck goes to bills, current rent, and supplies to take care of my pup. please, if you have read this far thank you. and to everyone who has sent me funds, i cannot have more love or appreciation in my heart for you.

my sister, who does wonderful art, also has commissions open for those who want to raise funds but would like something in return for doing so. you dm hope_artgram on instagram if you are interested!

please, i am begging for any and all help. i’ve lost all trust in those i thought would protect me when i needed them most, but i need protection from them in the end.

New year writing goals

Trying to write more often is self-care. We write because we love it. Let's not make it a chore.

There is more to writing than getting words on the page. Research, plotting, outlining, daydreaming, making moodboards... all that is writing.

Not being able to write some days is NOT failure. Breaks are essential to refill your creative energy. Maybe just listen to your writing playlist and relax a bit or read a book or watch a show that inspires you.

Word counts are not absolute. If you realize you can't achieve your word count in the set timeframe, revise it. It's NOT failure, it's being efficient and aware of your own energy.

Be kind to yourself. Not finishing your goal is okay. Just engage with your creativity. Your mental health is more important.
