I had so many people message me last weekend and ask about The Ordinary's Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density. I also had a lot of people dm me and tell me that it was the best, and that they were using it in their hair and loved it, LOVED IT. Lots of people said that it helped with hair growth and with thinning hair. People said that there was no hair product like it, nothing else in their lineup of products that was irreplaceable like this one is. For me, that spot goes to Wonder Water, and honestly, I don't have a problem with thinning hair,. I added this to the cart last November when Deciem was having their 23% off sale and I was getting free shipping. I figured that using this couldn't hurt, and it hasn't hurt. I kind of love giving myself the massage when I apply this to my scalp, and I just do it when I'm rinsing my mouth with mouthwash, since I have to do that for 30 second anyway. That's the true meaning of multi-tasking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This serum has a peptide complex that helps hair grow, the research is there for the ingredients. However, you do need a certain amount of the peptide in the formula in order for it to work, and we don't know the concentration in this formula, which is weird because the Ordinary prides itself on being transparent with its ingredients. In any case, this might work for you if you have thinning hair. The other thing to do is to make sure your scalp is clean - so lay off the dry shampoos and just wash your hair. You could also try regular scalp massages as increasing blood circulation to the scalp has been shown to help hair growth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Does this make your hair greasy? Kinda. I find it best to NOT use at my part and I apply it everywhere else. I don't like leather and don't like gourmands, but I can get behind this leather gourmand if we want to call it that. It's Dzing! by L'Artisan Parfumeur. It picks up the benzoin where Candy left off and takes the sweets to the circus. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When you first spray it, you definitely get a blast of the barnyard and cotton candy mixed together, maybe you’re at a kid's birthday party at the petting zoo. The barnyard smell is thanks to castoreum but also hay which brings a sweetness. There's a bit of a skanky musk, a waxiness, and powdery sweet benzoin. Full size only. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Empties that is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And that’s just the kind of week it’s been. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I ran out of my prescription retinol and I’ve had it for over a year so that’s how long it lasts even when you use it regularly. I’d say it’s worth it. This is a micro-encapsulated Tretinoin which means that it gets released on your skin in a slower dose rather than a lot hitting it all at once. It’s better if you’re trying to avoid irritation but it’s still very very strong and even after a year of it, my skin can’t tolerate it nightly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I use a more gentle retinol too, and just finished the @trinnylondon Overnight Sensation. This is a retinal so it’s a little stronger than other options but still not as strong as prescription. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also finished my favourite Maybelline foundation, and this is discontinued. I’ll say that drugstore foundation colours have come a long way and it’s nice that I can find a warm golden colour for my skin pretty easily. I’m switching to Fenty for now, but I do have this in a darker colour which is what I use in the summer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alterna Scalp serum! I actually used this. I just massage it into my scalp once a day and it didn’t make my hair greasy either. I think the applicators made it super easy to apply and so I reached for it more than the Ordinary one, but I will go back to using The Ordinary one now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lastly, the Neem and Tulsi face wash is from the Indian store and the Body Oil is from @chermerebeauty and imported from Trinidad and Tobago. I remember smelling Memoirs of a Trespasser for the first time in June of 2020 and I was immediately blown away. Its warm cozy smoke immediately wrapped itself around me and I was under its spell. A set of nice sunny days that make winter weather bearable. Refillable skincare, yes or no? I'm team no. It puts the onus of being sustainable on the consumer rather than the brand and makes the packaging more clunky than it needs to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I bring it up because I finished my @trinnyskincare Intense Peptide Moisturizer, and yeah, I have a refill of it so I'm good for right now. This is my favourite moisturizer for my face. It's really thick and moisturizing, and has a set of peptides that help skin be more bouncy. If you have anything that can be refilled, don't forget to save the dispenser so that you can screw it on to the new bottle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Other than that, I'm done with this YSL mascara which I loved and I would definitely repurchase. It's intense and black and makes your lashes look like falsies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kerastase Genesis shampoo. This was ok. KEYS Soulcare Body and Hand Wash mini which was also ok. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Zara Shimmering Body Oil from the holidays. This is the second one I've finished, and it was a limited edition product from December. If they come out with these again, I will rebuy them. Neat or Messy? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As much as I love seeing everyone else’s flaylay, I love a beautiful mess for myself. Swipe to take a peek at my actual makeup drawer and you’ll see Fenty in there. Fenty and I are having a bit of a moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm a little obsessed with the textures because of how nice they feel. Even the body butter melts in your hands and turns into an oil, leaving skin gleaming. It feels like silk going on, and it stays on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm finding that all the Fenty products have just the most lovely amount of slip so that they lay down well and layer nicely. I've talked about the Eaze Drop Skin Tint before and how it goes on kind of matte and stays that way during the day. The cream blush layers nicely on top and has glide. The foaming cleanser - add a bit of water and get the most luscious creamy feel. The lipsticks are so pigmented that a tiny bit gives you full and intense colour. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The lipsticks in the last slide are from the new Fenty Red Extension. A metallic red lipstick case and three new options for a red lip. They’re beauties and actually pretty easy to wear. Some people think that January is the longest month, but I didn’t mind it. The days are finally getting longer, and I relish each extra minute of sunlight that we get. I know it won't get warmer here for a while, so I'm still rotating through my ambers, smelling new things, and sharing perfume with anyone who wants some. Be thoughtful, enjoy your time here. Some beautiful perfume helped me get through the month, or at least enjoy it. Meharées by @erbolario and Musk Ravageur by @fredericmalle. Ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, and a sprinkle of lemon sugar is the perfect recipe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I got a decant of L'Erbolario Méharées, and I fell in love with it from the very first spray. I finished my decant immediately and looked around for a bottle. I would even say that it was the best $50 I spent on perfume last year. I have a few cheapies in my collection, but a lot of them are thin and watery, but this one isn't. It's on the sweet side but has a certain amount of complexity which I really enjoy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Musc Ravageur is not exactly like Méharées but nobody said it was. The drydown is the same, and Musc Ravageur is surprisingly sweet for a Malle creation. The spices are more present than they are in Méharées. The samples I have are also missing the lemon sugar opening from Méharées, and there's a soft animalic purr that comes out a little while into its wear. If this is a seduction, it's a slow, sly one that sneaks up on you. Organized some perfume samples today to make sense of what I have but I might never be done, so let's take a break and look at the pretty light and go through some empties. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Firstly, the Sothys eye pencil that I loved and isn't easy to find. This was a twist up, so no sharpening required and yes, that's my favourite type of pencil. I think it came as part of a duo, and is on the Sothy's website. They have a Canadian website. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Moving on - @NeutrogenaCanada serum sunscreen. I loved this because it's so light but it's also so shimmery. I liked it but some of you may not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ LIttle mini Kerastase hair conditioner - loved it, thanks for the sample @jeromesalon. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Larger @alternahaircarecan Caviar Anti-Frizz Conditioner. I liked it, but the bond-repair conditioner is more smoothing especially if you have curly hair and would like something smoothing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally, a mini Luna oil from Sunday Riley. This was a freebie in, what else, a Sephora order. I've smelled attars before, but not like these. On family trips to India, my mom would always buy attars, so oil-based perfumes made in traditional ways. She loves florals and stuck to soliflores - rose and jasmine being her favourites. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The History of Attar collection from @areejledore are perfumes based on traditional attars. I haven't had the chance to wear them on skin, but they are different than what I was expecting, and from what I've experienced in the past. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The perfumes are: Le Mitti, Beauty and the Beast, Gul Hina, Ambre de Coco, Malik al Motia, Al Majmua, Mysore Incenza. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having a basic knowledge of some of the languages spoken in India meant that this wasn't a blind smelling, and I've read lots about these already. I think what's interesting about these is that they're all very strong, and they don't smell like any perfume that I'm used too - except for Al Majmua which has a traditional chypre structure so it reminds me of a bombastic 80's perfume. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you smelled these, or do you have a favourite? A study in pink and red, also I found the a hip little coffee shop where everyone gives you the cold shoulder, and a real book store! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These are some things that I actually really love right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I said I would update on the Topicals Faded serum, so let's start there. It's as good as everyone says it is. I've only been using it for 2 weeks but I can see how over time, it's going to fade acne scarring or any mild hyperpigmentation that might be there. It's not a cure for melasma (is there even a cure?) but if you're aiming for management, then I would say try it. I like that the blend of ingredients is optimized for pigmentation issues. It smells terrible - but I think the smell only makes it more legit. I used to use an Obagi hyperpigmentation cream that smelled bad too, so I'm here for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fenty Skin Butta Drop in the LE Rose-Gold edition. Smells like vanilla, and yes, actually does melt in your hands into a beautiful oil and is a fantastic moisturizer. There's a tiny bit of shimmer. It's not over the top, so if you're wearing black, your clothes won't be all dirty, but it will make your skin look so glowy. I want this for the summer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tower 28 mascara. Such a highly rated mascara and always sold out, so when I saw it at Sephora, I grabbed it. Great for separating lashes, not too smudge, but still a bit smudgy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Trinny London Peptide moisturizer. Obsessed with this one - it's so beautifully hydrating and perfect for dry skin. If you have any kind of peeling because of retinoids or even the weather, try this, I think you'll love it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Neutrogena Stubborn Blackheads serum - it's a BHA (which I know you all know because of Paula's Choice) but in a serum. It’s no Wonder Water. I bought this Drybar Liquid Glass Instant Glossing Rinse so that I could see if it smelled better than Wonder Water and worked the same. The formulas seem similar: both of them coat your hair with a polymer to make it shiny and smooth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Guess what? Drybar Liquid Glass smells amazing. LIke a vanilla-patchouli-cedar, but very light on the vanilla. Just a bit of sweetness from it and it's so much of an improvement from the Wonder Water, which probably doesn't bother me as much as it bothers some of you, but it doesn't really smell great. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Liquid Glass is $44 for 236mL, Wonder Water is usually around $10 for 200mL so year, the Wonder Water is way cheaper, but it's good to know what the other options are if you're sick of how it smells. It might be my bias, but I STILL think that the Wonder Water works the best when it comes to smoothing your hair and making it look flawless.
