HENRY LAU’s DEPARTURE FROM SM ENT: SUPER JUNIOR’s FAULT

It was relatively predictable that Henry Lau would no longer renew his contract with SM. Looking back, he wasn’t happy. He only had his Strings then to defend him. SM Entertainment wronged him. And now you blame it on Super Junior? How is it about Super Junior? Super Junior was also cheated on and slept on by their own agency. If you haven’t seen the viscosity of SM Entertainment’s treatment to their celebrities back in the day, you would see how this built the foundation of the second generation group despite having LOADS of their members gone. You guys are barking at the wrong tree for blaming this on Super Junior. What Henry did was his decision. He is, as observed, unhappy. So we should be happy for him that the path he takes now whilst he creates his one man company, we as ELF shall render him the support he needs and the support he deserves. Let’s be happy for Henry and onwards!

My take on the Infinity War

Infinity War is a well orchestrated film that is simply genius. It moved the audience at a such great extent. If there was something why I said so, it’s a movie that made you feel. Anger, Rage, Disgust, Love, Fear, Anxiety, it makes the audience feel those things, it provokes emotion and its impact on the audience is strong that its odor in the virtual world and physical world is inevitably prominent. The actors, as assets in this provocation has well executed their designated roles. Josh Brolin did a marvelous performance in carrying out his character that has both depth and fearsome about him. I can’t say more.The movie was simply genius and the audience as their market is moved. Great performances and kudos to the Russo Brothers and the Production team and all involved in creating this grandeur! 

Nevertheless, The Untitled Avengers sequel Countdown has begun. If you haven’t watched it yet, do! And if you did, REDO! It deserves the hype!

Some opinion.

Okay, I just had to say this but if it does go to the flow that Steve Rogers, formerly Captain America, now Nomad, whose role will be presumably “taken over” by Bucky Barnes, the winter soldier, Marvel has to get it together. Given that Chris Evans did say that he will soon be retiring as Captain America after the untitled avengers sequel, marvel seriously has to get their shit together and include Bucky/Sebastian Stan to more scenes in promotion to the character the winter soldier will soon undertake. If the impact of the transitioning of characters, movie to movie is expected to be strong, Bucky should undoubtedly be promoted well as do any other hero or character in the MCU deserves. As you well know, Sebastian Stan has a 9 FILM CONTRACT and if the flow does go to its natural course, they should put Bucky in for more scenes in joint marvel movies. I have faith in you, Marvel. I still hate you by the way :D

But hey, that’s just an opinion and I am practicing my freedom. Now, stfu and all love, no hate. Hate only on Marvel for wiping half of the universe. :3

A MESSAGE FROM A SECOND GEN STAN TO THE THIRD

If you could name me groups from the second generation kpop and eliminate each by putting your finger down with every group that disbanded, how many do you think are active and still hasn’t disbanded?

Very little yes. 

Let me tell you something, I am a fan of Super Junior and Highlight/BEAST fan and I’ve been in this arena of entertainment since 2007. That gives me a decade and I’ve encountered groups and people of the same interest. The people aforementioned in question, are fans from different fandoms. SUPER JUNIOR, TVXQ, Bigbang, 2PM, BEAST, SHINee, INFINITE,SNSD, 2NE1, KARA, APink, 4MINUTE and others. 

In the past, fanwars were inevitable. It exists even in the first, most prominent: HOT and Sechskies. In the past, I say again, fanwars are inevitable but it wasn’t shit like this. People had manners. People knew restraint. People knew shame. PEOPLE KNEW RESPECT. Is this what sums up the generation nowadays? Cause man oh man, I am pointing at you, you rude 3rd gen fans, YOU ARE RUDE, YOU ARE SHAMEFUL AND YOU ARE A FCKING DISGRACE.

I am not here to sugarcoat words but let me be clear to you, that we, 2nd gen fans  along with our artists, we take the confidence and we take pride that WE CREATED THE FCKING GOLDEN AGE TOWARDS THE GLOBALIZATION OF KPOP. KNOW YOUR PLACE BECAUSE YOUR ‘IDOLS’ ARE MERE PRODUCTS OF THE 2ND GEN’s EFFORTS JUST AS THE SECOND IS TO THE FIRST DUE TO KPOP’S ESTABLISHMENT.

We don’t need you to agree, just a pint of respect and a glimmer of shame, aye? We’re a well established generation and look at the wreckage because of the 3rd’s behavior. (If youre thinking of a certain fandom, you and I must be syncing minds) You overuse the words ‘flop’ and ‘old’ too much. Can you please stfu? Your oppas and your eonnis looked up to ours before they decided to become what they are right now.

If you can’t help but disagree on certain points, that’s fine. But be human enough and have at least a bit of decency. To be honest, because of the rampant and unruly behavior of fans, I fucking feel ashamed saying “I AM A KPOP FAN AND NO, IM NOT ONE OF THEM.” What’s holding me onto this is only SuJu and Highlight.

This generation is forlorn hope. If the third gets this worse, imagine the fourth and what comes after that? Third, listen to this but you will wear the same shoes we are wearing today. your oppas and eonnis will be called “flops” and you’ll know how it fucking feels like. We know the sensation firsthand, this first happened to us for we never mistreated the first. The labor pain of this feeling still lingers. One day, the fourth will insult you, the fifth will call you nugus and you’ll know how it feels like. You’ll say that we were right. So get your acts straight. You will be persecuted in the future, I’m sure and I know. Don’t come running. Because we’re right and we stand by that belief. 

The third, all I remember about the third is just DISRESPECT. We, the second are trained and taught by our artists, who’s training you? Stop disrespecting and be human.

DARK SIDE OF THE KOREAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

(SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE CONTENT)

Mind you, not all kpop idols are talented. I REPEAT, NOT ALL KPOP IDOLS ARE TALENTED. Disagree with me but I speak of the truth. Some idols just have the looks. THE LOOKS! How outrageous is that? Some recruited and survived because of physical attributes. That is the dark side and downfall of the korean industry. This has been shown on the variety show “I Can See Your Voice.” 

And you go on saying when there’s a ridiculously talented singer and say “WHY ISN’T THIS GUY A SINGER?!” I remember asking this question every episode of the variety show. You will see that in the kpop industry, you just can’t survive without being beautiful nor handsome. 

The truth is maddening, but its the bare truth. I happen to stumble upon music videos of various groups and having an ear for music, a criticism comes after and ask “Why is he/she even there? She/He can just carry a tune and now he/she’s an artist? WHERE’S THE QUALITY?”

Another variety show that unconsciously display the colours of the korean entertainment industry is the Produce 101 (2). During the final 11 on both seasons, some who made it to the top 11 is like that pineapple on pizza. You don’t know why its there. Is it because of the physical features? If it were so, then the korean entertainment industry might as well be a beauty pageant if that’s how it works. 

We’re losing quality here people. Where did all the good artists go?

G-DRAGON, ZICO, ZION T, ROY KIM, JUNG JOON YOUNG, YONG JUNHYUNG, DEAN, GAEKO and many artists to prove that kpop is still alive.

I AM SUPER JUNIOR’s EVERLASTING FRIEND: an open letter

I have loved you and always will. I love you and even in the brutal tides, I shall still. Saying that staying with you was all rainbows and unicorns is A COMPLETE LIE. I wept with you. I struggled with you. It was you and me against the world. I held your hand when things were difficult and you held on to mine. Holding onto you was painful. It was torture. 

So I drifted.

But, one way or another, you always find ways to come back to me again and again. You’re like that silly kid who keeps on asking questions. But your footsteps always, inevitably pace towards me and warmly hold me in my hand to say: “Let’s go home.”

So I no longer fought it and I did. I found home. 

Many things I was sorry for. No, I still am. I’m sorry I couldn’t be always there to protect you away from the menace. I’m sorry I tried to run away from you, thinking I would no longer need you when you were just that one I needed the most. I’m sorry I drifted away from you with the mindset that it’d ease the pain but I realized that I suddenly missed those tears and I wanted to take the risk and retrieve that pain back. I’m sorry I wasn’t there all the time, I thought I also had my own life to live but I realized that it wasn’t a life to live when you weren’t there. I’m sorry for many things. I’M SORRY.

INCHEON KPOP CONCERT 2017: Start of the End of Fanwars

<SPOILER: LIGHTs DID IT.>

The recent INK Concert held last September 9, 2017 was a rather memorable night for fans. Witnessing the performances of the line-up : Wanna One, Red Velvet, GFRIEND, Highlight, T-ARA, DIA, VICTON, MOMOLAND, TheEastLight, MYTEEN, Samuel, ONF, Weki Meki, LABOUM, Sunmi, Minzy, Lee Gikwang, B.A.P, VIXX LR, A-JAX & Lovelyz was simply extraordinary! But for some, including I, the performances were not the highlight (insert emoji) of that concert but Highlight’s fans, LIGHT ❤ . 

During the concert, for those who were uninformed, LIGHTs changed the colors of their lightsticks into Red for Red Velvet, Blue for VIXX LR, Green for B.A.P and sang to T-ARA while they were performing. Instead of doing a black ocean (An act among fans during joint concert where they turn off their lightsticks for idols/groups they dont like), LIGHTs changed their lightsticks in respect for the performers even though some of them were not fans of the group. In prior to the start of INK Concert 2017, photos were seen of other fans throwing Highlight and Lee Gikwang merchandise/posters as a form of disrespect yet that didn’t stop LIGHTs of being such a very good sport. After the successful fanproject HI ❤LIGHT during the concert, it was reported that LIGHTs cleaned up the venue before leaving, earning their name in the arena of the industry as “The most respectful fandom” out there.

In numerous accounts, several B.A.P members, T-ARA members and including other fans recognized LIGHT for their good work. In addition to this, LIGHTs were trending on twitter and naver for more than 4+ hours ( #덕질은_라이트처럼  #라이트분들 ) and was recognized by Highlight’s company AroundUsEntertainment (theyre the CEOs lol)

Apparently, this blog may be a bit biased but mind you, we are not getting to the real point yet. The real point is that, Why cant we be good sports like LIGHT? The war among fandoms are getting out of hand, about ‘who’s better?’ ‘yo idols are gonna flop’ ‘yo group makes me sick’ ‘theyre not popular anymore’ ‘my idols are the best, yours are shit.’ Well guess what? Things like these are what makes up fandom wars. I have been a fan of kpop since 2007 and In our time, we dont remember fanwars as severe as this. We, fans should be very good sport and support each other when it gets hard and rough, We should support each other’s artists and think that its not about competition.

What happened during the INK Concert 2017 and the kind gesture of LIGHTs were not mere acts in respect. It was a significant event that could bring the end of fandom wars. Instead of hate and resentment, why dont we show love amongst ourselves?

I know that fanwars are inevitable, it always happens. But should we be like this? The worlds getting enough hate and we should say different. Have each other’s back cause it helps and it is heartwarming. Have a little bit of decency and respect. Those idols you hate onstage, you dont know where theyve been through in their pursuit of their dreams. If you hate them so much, just keep it to yourself. Like what the old say “If you cant say anything nice, then dont say nothing at all.” It wont cost you if you just remain quiet instead of inflicting pain directed towards the artists and the fans. WE NEED RESPECT WHERE IT IS NO LONGER EVIDENT IN THIS ARENA. 

I urge you, as one of the pioneers of the conclusion of fanwars(LIGHT), Lets spread love amongst ourselves, not hate. If you ever need someone, I as LIGHT and ELF will be always be with you along with many others. Let’s support each other and have each other’s back. Lets have a very good year everybody! K-MUSIC: A Competition?

(Thoughts may differ and I respect that)

I will show you a glimpse of the Then and Now of the K-MUSIC industry throughout the years and allow me to start off by naming them as an introduction.

1ST GEN(FATHERS): Shinhwa, Sechskies, H.O.T, Turbo, Seo Taiji, Noel, RooRa, etc.

2ND GEN(PIONEERS OF GLOBALIZATION OF KPOP): SUPER JUNIOR, BEAST, TVXQ, JYJ, BIGBANG, UKISS, INFINITE, SHINee,2A/PM,etc.

3RD GEN: SEVENTEEN, EXO, BTS, NCT, MONSTA X, etc.

For so many years, K-MUSIC has been on the surface of the general scope of the entertainment Industry. Back in the days, K-MUSIC has been, from 1ST GEN and 2ND GEN, been an avenue of quality music. If you take glimpse of the younger years of the industry, taking emphasis on the 2nd gen where it was the Golden Age of Kpop, Music was by all means, meaningful and it reeked of quality and emotion.This is evident that needs no further elucidation. 

I’ll show you what K-INDUSTRY is NOW (I will not mention any). In contrast to the previous generation groups, K-MUSIC now is becoming a battle of popularity, album sales and views. It is understandable that these are somewhat factors that distinguishes a group’s success. It is understandable that it is recognition for hard work but it is never a measure for a group’s worth. Hear me out,  if your group wins awards and get so popular, that’s good. But if you say that your group’s the best? That’s purely subjective. The massive success of other’s groups DOES NOT determine the uselessness of others. 

Hear me our, Quality Music is not the beat nor the rhythm nor melody but the sense and meaning. One of the renowned singer-composer-producers of the arena, Around Us Entertainment CEO and Highlight(BEAST) member Yong Junhyung has stated that He never produces songs with no meaning in it. Shouldn’t that be the essence of the music industry? The analogy is this: Music nowadays , not only korean but the generalized perspective, music is like a soup without broth.

Music is no longer the core if the industry. Its slowly becoming visuals and popularity with no talent nor skill in the field whatsoever. K-MUSIC is a understand, its KPOP, like LITERALLY Korean POPULARITY. Today, the songs and type of music recognized are those with the best beats and rhythm, views, album sales and ALL BOILS DOWN TO POPULARITY.

If youre not popular and if youre not good looking, no matter how talented you are or poetic you are, very little chances and opportunities will knock on your door. Thats what makes up the K-INDUSTRY NOW, a competition. WHERE IS THE TRUE ESSENCE OF MUSIC THAT IT IS MEANT TO BE ENJOYED AND SHARED? POPULARITY can give you awards and profit. Its a disgusting system that needs tending to. ERADICATE THE SYSTEM.

If you’ve watched G-DRAGON and TAEYANG’s performance on MAMA 2014, You must remember the legendary diss of G-DRAGON against MAMA, saying; “It's been a year, MAMA. Because you set such a large table/awards (sang), You hand it out generously so your children don't fight. I'm all grown up now so I get full from even watching, Just feed the younger ones.”

So, tell me, should shit continue getting released in the form of music or quality music with genuine meanings?

Which deserves who? Groups who just got lucky? or ARTISTS that work their asses off because they simply love what they do? It’s crucial, we’re losing the truest essence when it should be Lyrical Genius and Quality Music. 

Eradicate the system. Educate the ignorant. Challenge the System now.
