It’s been a whirlwind October that’s for damn sure! I thought I would pop in to say hello and give a few quick updates on what has been going on with me.

4000 Subscribers on the ole’ tube

My hearts work has gained some traction on YouTube (where I expunge the bulk of my beauty efforts, instead of here, which I know… is not always my best laid plan). HOWEVER thank you to everyone has been with me from the get go and all who are new. Going ‘Viral’

I am not entirely sure if there is any set rule on what counts as going viral, but I posted a video about the KVD Fetish Face palette, and within a few days it was almost over 30K views and had hundreds of comments.  So to me, this is viral in my world. I realize that this very much assisted in the 4K goal, however I am shocked at how rude some people are in the comments and just expect the worst from me. Disappointing to say the least. YouTube requires a thick skin, let me tell you. If you are interested in that video or the comments feel free to check that out here! Damn internet bullys… they don’t know what’s up that’s for sure.

As for other updates, I did just return home from GenBeautyNYC, and I had great intentions of doing a video on what I picked up while I was away as well as what was in the grab bags/ the overall experience. But to be honest, I am so overwhelmed with ‘Stuff’ right now I didn’t have it in me to actually sit down with it around me for multiple days until I could get it filmed and posted. Therefore I will probably do a get ready with me and just chat about my experience, as well as use a lot of the products I got. Does that work for everyone? It’s been a VERY strange few months. This summer was probably one of the busiest ones I have ever had, and although I was able to keep up with YouTube for the most part I was not able to keep up here as well. Isn’t that always the way?

This was probably for the best anyway, the beauty community has been in shambles for half the summer. Laura Lee and Manny MUA  are essentially piles of glitter blown away by a tornado. Although they are not my favourite people in the world, I am wishing them all the best and hoping they are safe and well. Everyone was preaching equality while being hateful and abusive towards them, and forgot to practice what we preach. Come on people… death threats? Get real. Do I agree with what they did and said? No of course not, it was hella shitty, but should that mean we should all kill Laura’s 14 year old niece? No probs not.

Marlena blames the influencer community for the fall of Make up Geek. Gabriel Zamora, tosses everyone under the bus, and rightfully so by the sounds of it…. and Jaclyn Hill is spewing ‘her truth’ all over the place.

  So many truth videos of all different subject matters, tag lines etc. Can we please all just GTFO over ourselves? Influencers are here to make a living, we put them on these pedestals. We are buying the products that they are shilling. We did this. Not them… We voted with our views and our wallets. Everyone’s truth? How about we take some accountability? I know I do, and I hope after all of this we can take some stock in what we are watching, who we are watching, and the kind of people we are letting influence us.

Enough about that… It has happened, it’s over, and I have for the most part stayed quiet about it. If you are interested in my overall view of it, I do touch on some of it in this video.

My god. There are no words for how busy I have been in the last month. Do you know why No Money May was successful? Too busy to shop. Literally eat sleep work, that’s all for the entire month of May. Time is flying, and sometimes starting to get away from me, and the exhaustion has been setting in.

No Money May has been an overall success. There are three days left, and I intend to be successful for the last portion of the month. No Excuses, no pain no gain, cliche, cliche, cliche.

I wanted to talk through my struggles with this sudden Summer Sephora Sale though, and the products I have put in and out of my cart continuously during this month.

These sales are what kill me truly. Things come up that I would have never bought otherwise but now that they are available and I can ‘save money’ on them it makes me second guess my purchasing choices, and immediately turn me into this whiny baby.

One perfect example of this is the I Am Divine Palette by KVD. I didn’t buy this because I didn’t WANT IT when it was released. Why, because it’s on sale now, do I want to put it in my cart? There is literally nothing special about it. It’s a few shades of black and gray with one green and a couple shades of blue. All of which I can most definitely find 100 times over in other KVD palettes I already have. They put it on sale for 40% off, and it made me seriously question if it was worth it. (Spoiler alert – It’s not).

Be prepared everyone this is going to be a long post. Item #2 that made it’s way into my cart was the ABH Blush Trios. Not all of them, and to be honest I can’t even remember which one I had put in. These are now 31% off, and although they are great products and I love the one I have already (Peachy Love which I have shown here).  I own enough blush, to flush the entire country for one year. At a minimum anyway. There is no way to actually get that statistic, but hopefully you are picking up what I am putting down. In my project pan, I tried to use the same blush until there was no pattern left on it. Fail. I couldn’t do it. This was a huge eye opener for me, that I need to concede to the fact that blush is not a fast use product.

One trillion brush sets.

I put ALL THREE of these in my cart, because wow much sale, good price, very quality.  The last thing I need less than eye shadow palettes, are brushes. Does it look like I need brushes? Yeah they are a bunch of dirty bitches too.How many brushes can I possibly use on my face at once? And the kicker of it all? I ALWAYS REACH FOR THE SAME TEN BRUSHES, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME. But they are pretty, and I NEED them or I will die.

There is nothing wrong with any of these products per say, and the whole point of this post was really to check myself, and show how much money I could have possibly wasted if I hadn’t of taken a step back and really considered what I was doing.

Did you get anything from the sale? There were so many sales over the Memorial Day weekend…. It was a challenge for me, but I have abstained!

There are a few things in the beauty industry that leave a bad taste in my mouth. One being limited edition products that are super hyped and then re-released to get the fan base going, and when companies try and ‘re-launch’ the same product but reformulated.

We all know my general thoughts on Huda, as can be seen here. However to me this is a new low and I feel like it’s taking advantage of the market, when really all that is happening is a shitty product was released. Now they have improved it to re-release it again.

Are we out of ideas? This is all we can come up with now? I have heard people discussing this on some of the instagram photos, and one of the common themes is that this is a re-release of the original – (Which wasn’t that good in my opinion), and it’s just a copy of the Modern Renaissance and Peachy Mattes mixed together.
