I get when they say they're equals but top harry is getting so performative in fandom lately that i don't want tomarry to lose its essence and turns out to be another drarry

I literally sat here baffled for five minutes.

If top Harry is so performative, wouldn't that make top Tom performative, too? Wouldn't this weird focus of these positions be performative? Also, what are we performing here, too?

Because I know for SURE that it's not a loving representation of sexual intimacy.

Also, since when is the 'essence' of Tomarry top Tom/bottom Harry? (And since when was top Draco/bottom Harry the essence of Drarry, too?) It's not.

What is everyone's obsession with bottom Harry?

Is it because bottoming is perceived as the more submissive, the more feminine, the more emasculating role in the act of sex? In the case of Tomarry, Tom isn't allowed to ever be in this sexual position? (which is a distorted, twisted view of sex, too)

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of sex.

I could go on a whole rant about this. But I'm going to focus on the writing aspect of this topic.

I've heard way too often that: “It’s out of character for Tom to bottom or for Harry to top.”

If you believe that, then you do not understand character development and character evolution. Nothing is out of character, so long as you write it well. You just have to set aside YOUR wants and desires. What you want is getting in the way; budge over and let the characters through, please!

The reason why I haven't stated the sexual positions in TBG is twofold. One, it's none of anyone's business right now. Two, I'm still writing those scenes and figuring out what THEY want. What you or I want doesn't fucking matter. We do not get a say in this. I am an intuitive writer; I listen to my characters and go with a flow when writing them. I have hard pivoted on many things because they shifted their wants and desires. The only reason why chapter 53 exists as it does is BECAUSE I let Tom do what HE wanted.

Top Harry isn't performative. Bottom Tom isn't performative.

Top Tom isn't performative. Bottom Harry isn't performative.

But this weird, creepy insistence of set sexual dynamics for these characters IS performative.

i remember that when tom and harry first got together, tom made harry promise to bring orion with him when he told his 'cousins' about the two of them. theeeeen later, i think ron had a "wounded" look in his eyes when he saw harry and tom holding hands.

thats from the top of my head i could totally be misremembering that BUT. has harry already had the super official chat (with orion present) with his 'cousins' behind the scenes? or are they just making correct assumptions?

to answer your question: no, they never really got around to having an official chat about it. Harry talked to Ginny a little about it (she teased him about his feelings in chapter 8 of "with friends like these" so we might revisit the topic in a later chapter, I'm still not quite sure!), but Ron and Hermione found out through their own observations and the rumour mill

Seeing a thousand "fork found in kitchen" and "believe scientists" and "we all knew about AI" tags on a post with an AI incorrectly summarizing a preprint study advising thoughtful use of AI as "AI is making your brain weak and ineffective" was making me crazy i'm sorry i tried not reblogging it like four times and every time i didn't reblog it it had like an order of magnitude more notes
