NEW COMIC BOOK DAY!
Happy New Comic Book Day! Here are some of my picks.
We have some fun pick ups this week. I adore the Scarlet Witch and love that she’s been having her fist ever ongoing run. The variant cover with Wanda and Pietro is really cool but the A cover with Darcy, Wanda and Black Cat is pretty sick. I also picked up a backlog of the Captain America Sam Wilson run. I am looking forward to reading it with the Patriot on it. I love the Young Avengers so I’m jazzed. I am so excited about the Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus. I love the story and it’s my first omnibus.
Hope everyone had a great day!

New Champions: Issue 1
This is a new teen superhero team, which is pretty cool. I have a big love for the Young Avengers so I always love when they involve the kids. This was definitely an issue that grabbed my attention and am looking forward to the run. I will say this comic references the Spider-Women run by the same author, Steve Foxe, and I have not read that so this is the first time I am interacting with the characters and meeting them.
The issue starts off with the New Champions stopping The Brothers Grim from stealing a vault, which I’m guessing is from a bank. The Brother Grim get a massive like fog cloud around them and are like “what’s happening, I thought Moon Knight wasn’t in California?” That’s when we are introduced to the team and I like they way they were introduced. They’re all like “oh it’s not Moon Knight, or the Avengers, or the West Coast Avergers, or the Young Avenger, we’re the New Champions.” I feel like it just made it clear that these people aren’t Avengers and (could possibility) be in a new category.
So this team is made up of 4 teens and all are kind of different versions of heros we have. SO we have Moon Squire who is dressed up like Moon Knight and “absorbs light and makes bad guys go night night.” I don’t know a lot about him but I don’t think he’s like an avatar of an Egyptian god, he just seems to be a powered teen and that has some of Moon Knight’s powers. Next up is Liberty. Her costume is like Captain America’s but with the Wasp’s wings. Her powers are creating hard light constructs and “being a beacon of hope.” Next we got Cadet Marvel who has “jet-powered punches, fuel-injected attitude.” He’s cool he’s like a teenage boy Capitan Marvel. And last we got Hellrune who is described as basically a mystery, “mystery spear, mystery spells, mystery origin.” She definitely feels like someone Asgard and gives Nordic vibes (which plays a part in this issues story). Oh and she uses the mystery spear to do the magic and it has like magic birds that come out of it. I think it’s like a wand.
So after they have stopped The Brothers Grim they’re all like “we gotta go home, it’s getting late, we have parents to get home to.” This is when we learn that Hellrune is in foster care and Hellrune uses her magic spear to send everyone back to their homes. When Hellrune returns home she is met with her foster parents asking her not to let the neighbors see her “magic birds” and the foster dad says “you’ve been through a lot since the hydra thing.” This is what got me locked in. I have always loves anything Hydra. I was excited and need to find out more about what had happened in the Spider-Women run because we later learn that they were all taken and brainwashed and the families were brainwashed and that’s just crazy to me. I gotta read it. We also learn that when the Hydra brainwashing wore off everyone had a family but Hellrune.
But anyway, basically Hellrune sent out her magic birds to find any trace of her family. She like summons them back and they tell her that she has an aunt and is all like “Take me there now!” She ends up on a island off of the coast of Norway and begins looking for any signs of family. But it turns out that Liberty out hard light tracers on everyone’s costumes and learns that Hellrune’s signal went dead on an island off the coast of Norway. When the New Champions are like we gotta go get her, Hellrune’s birds appear and take them right to the island. On the island, the team is then attacked by zombie Vikings and trolls.
All of a sudden this person named Fantasma appears and says that she was taken there by the same blue birds from Hellrune but doesn’t know any of the New Champions. It turns out Hellrune accidentally called a bunch of teen heroes to the island because she wasn’t specifically word the command.
Out of nowhere a giant troll zombie appears with Spider-Boy on his trying to defeat him. You turn the page and it’s just all these teen heroes trying to defeat this troll zombie and Liberty says “if we survive this will make for an awesome recruitment drive.” I can’t stop thinking about who they would recruit out of this picture. We got like a teen juggernaut, a teen Loki-ish but has like 6 arms, the looks of a super skrull, and some more. I’m excited to see who and if they add anyone else to the team or will it stay small.
Well, I think overall I liked the one and I’m exited to see where this run goes and if it continues to engage me.
Thanks for reading!

I love Venom but not Eddie Brock
Tumblr media
Yuh, I've said it. Nothing against him but I feel like his reasoning to hate Peter isn’t it. As good of a villain Venom is, I wish Eddie Brock had better reasons for hate. But I also get the trashing of a career revenge. But is it enough to be Venom? Now the bonding of the symbiote is beautiful but is Eddie Brock’s reason for hate enough? Maybe I don’t know enough about Eddie but those are my vibes.

Agatha Feelings and Questions
Tumblr media
Ever since last night finale, my mind can’t stop thinking about it. I have so many questions but so many thoughts. We love a hyperfixation. Warming: This is such a brain dump.
Yay that moving forward Agatha is a ghost.
In the Scarlet Witch 2015 run, Wanda walks the Witches’ Road with Agatha as her spirit guide. (Yes in the comics the road is real.) I like how they’re continuing it with Billy because like Agatha says “you’re so much like your mother.”
I’m also sad about this because I was lowkey hoping Agatha was going to become the Richard’s babysitter but I mean this could still happen because a variant of her could be the babysitter in the Fantastic Four Universe for their son.
Is Billy Maxamoff a Nexus Being?
So we know that variants of Billy exist, that was confirmed in Multiverse of Maddness but not all his variants have powers? With his mother being a nexus being does that also make him a nexus being because his mother is a nexus being? Or is all this just considered to be a variant because we know their are other Billys out there.
I feel like the nexus being is more of the route that is correct. This is because to be a nexus being they use the variants powers and are identified their own nexus variant. Yes, Billy hasn’t met any variants yet but we know that they exist. It’s like there is only one version of the Wanda Maxamoff as Scarlet Witch but their are variants of Wanda. So if the Scarlet Witch only exists in the 616 and Wiccan is the son of the scarlet Witch than he would only exist in the same universe as the Scarlet Witch.
I love that the Ballad was a scam.
It just fit so perfectly and showed how Agatha really rose to power.
The night that Death came for Nicolas was the one day that him and Agatha didn’t kill any witches. Death needed the bodies and she didn’t get any once so Death took Nicolas

Spider-Man: India (2023) #1-5 (Spoilers)
Just finished the trade paper back of Spiderman India. I really liked it! With a variant of the Lizard, Dr. Kumar, going after both Spider-Man and Pavitr really led me to keep being prepared for an unmasking. I also really liked how it wasn’t a newspaper but like a blog that was cool and like up to date because Spider-Man would go viral today.
I love his suits too. The new one at the end is sick with the converse and the pant shoe combo on the original one is sick. i really like that those were included.
I want more of Pavitr and Spider-Man India comics. I do like him in Across the Spider-verse but I want more newer comics of him.
It was a good read.

Agatha All Along Episode 6 Thoughts and Feelings
I cannot stop repeating “What does Billy MaXaMOFF want at the end of the road?”
I was hugely impressed by the backstory of Billy. It was honestly one of the most comic accurate character backstories that Marvel has produced. I really was not sure how on screen they were going to show how William Kaplan is the reincarnation of Billy Maxamoff but I enjoyed what they did. I think that it made sense. It’s such a wild concept that when I talk about it with people no one ever understands it unless they’ve read the comics. But GG (good game) Marvel. You pulled that off well.
I had no idea that it was Evan Peters in the bucket hat and trench coat until we really saw his face. It also didn’t feel like a big revel and unless you were hip and knew about Wandavision you would miss it. That is one thing I really like about this series is that there has been so many crazy details but they’re also so easy to miss unless you are extremely familiar with a lot of previous content. At least that’s how I feel. Like the whole darkhold thing in episode 1. It was such a small detail when they said that there were 3 books that combusted and, knowing that the Darkholds in all universes get destroyed, there have 3 Darkhold appearances in all live action Marvel. One of these was in Runaways, another was in Agents of Shield (season about the Framework), and Wandavision/Multiverse of Maddness (yes this is 2 projects but the same book was used by Wanda in both movies.) Like I feel like your average Marvel fan would not be hip to that.
I feel like I need to make another post about my thoughts on Billy being right in Jersey and Wanda destroying Karma Taj and she didn’t look around first for Billy but how it also makes sense because she thought they were dead.
One of my biggest questions after this episode (besides what’s going to happen next) is what is going on with William Kaplan’s parents right now? How long have they been on The Witch's Road?
Even as a big Wanda Stan I really hope she is not in this series and I hope they are able to find Tommy at the end of the road. They need to find Wanda together so we can have the Avengers: The Children’s Crusade storyline.
Yuh.
