So, Leola = Startouch Elf, can shapeshift into a unicorn? Leola = gift-giver of Primal Stones. Was her "Last Wish" to empower humanity? To spare them from Luna Tenebris's wrath? And was she cast from the heavens because of it? AND WHO IS LAURELION?!
I may write this up in full at a later date, but my working theory is that Leola & Laurelion both have some connection to Aaravos. Leola took pity on humans and was cast out (Leola is the "falling star" in Ripples, who had "given" humanity something it was "never meant to have" + the "daughter of an elven leader" in the novelization of Book 1). Meanwhile, Laurelion was stabbed by Aaravos as *Laurelion* was the one to cast Leola out. In turn, Aaravos was also cast out, but could never find Leola as she'd shapeshifted into a unicorn.
So, in a nutshell, Leola is Aaravos's daughter, and everything that happened to her partly drives Aaravos's actions (amazing Viravos parallels if this is the case).

If the Xadian leaders had like a once-in-a-century tea party or something, Aaravos 110% flirted with Queen Aditi and Zubeia.
Aaravos: Zubeia! Ravishing as always, I see.
Avizandum: Get away from my mate, elf. *narrows his eyes*
Aaravos: oh? You're Zubeia's mate? *grins* how unfortunate for her.
(Can totally see these two disliking each other well before Aaravos' imprisonment xD)

And your 1 AM thought has now become my new theory to fixate on. I love this so, so much. It fits well with Aaravos' "those who fail tests of love are simple animals" (Leola's wish was a "test of love"), as well as his hatred of Xadia and the Startouch Elves (he lost his daughter to their arrogance, their pride, their hatred of humanity - which served as his wake-up call). Plus, there's some wonderful parallels to Aaravos and Viren. While Viren was prepared to do whatever it took to protect his family, "however dangerous, however vile," maybe Aaravos didn't, at first, and Leola's death was a direct consequence of his negligence and apathy (which characterizes the Startouch Elf mindset). In any case, I love this theory, and I hope some of it rings true to canon.
All I know is, we're about to get some Severus Snape, Zuko-esque backstory in the next two seasons, and I am HERE FOR IT!
Leola’s last wish
Humans were going to be murdered, wholly. A "daughter of an Elven leader" begged for humans to be spared, and Tenebris compromised: humans were exiled to the west instead.
What if ‘the daughter of an Elven leader’ (elven leader: Aaravos?) is Leola, and that her last wish is for the humans to be spared? And perhaps died/being casted out by the stars (because she saved the humans?)
Maybe the Sea off the Castout came from this? Or maybe the bones in the sea is her (and she is somehow related to Aditi being swallowed?)
Also one thing to note is that she is depicted as a child in the star map in the opening (not sure how that helps)
Idk just a one am thought…

All I ask for in S6 of TDP is Startouch Elf lore & Aaravos proceeding to roast tf out of them before he attempts to destroy their civilization. No doubt he'll bitch about their "arrogance," lmao - he really has a thing about that.

Startouch Elf Headcanons (TDP)
Much like mastering the Avatar State in ATLA, a Startouch Elf is only "at one" with their arcanum if they let go of all earthly attachments. But, but, BUT, we see the negative implications of this philosophy in different ways. I.e., Startouch Elves are aloof and apathetic, not only indifferent to the plight of humanity, but indifferent to anything that doesn't concern "tHE StArs."
This mindset also makes for distant parenting, so their society is a breeding ground for narcissists. Why Aaravos ended up the way he did is, in part, due to this.
Ironically, Startouch Elves interpret "earthly attachments" however they please, seeing as they're pretty attached to their racism - they believe the other elven races are inferior, as though they're the "purest" elves. They have some begrudging respect for the Sunfire Elves, but that's only because of their civilization & that their power is "one with the stars."
(I have more, but eh, I can't be bothered to type them all out xD)

*relieved to know that I'm not the only one who does this and that we're all self-indulgent to some extent xD*
Honestly be pretentious as fuck about the stuff you create. Do a press release for your fanfic updates. Do a Q&A about your webcomic. Make fake merch designs for your OCs. Commission "official" book covers. Very few of us will ever get to a stage where something we've created Makes It Big but even if you have an audience of 5 people plus a shoelace fucking indulge yourself and pretend!! It's the only way to live!!

Reading Patience (the official Aaravos POV short story) reconfirms my theory that Aaravos genuinely has a saviour complex a la Viren's "bright future for humanity." On the surface, yes, he *appears* affectionate towards humanity. He admires their patience, their character, and it's strongly implied he "gifted" them with Dark Magic so as to help them prosper. At the same time, part of his contempt towards Xadia and his kind seems to derive from the way they scorned humanity ("The stars, after all, have no interest in the lives of mortals. The stars are arrogant, blinded by their own incandescent light...") But Aaravos' 'affection' is clearly not without fault. He uses people for his own ends, playing the cosmic game of chess. They're "vessels," puppets, figurines. In many ways, Aaravos is as arrogant and apathetic as his brethren. He, too, dismisses the lives of humans. But the key is that Aaravos sees potential in humans where his brethren don't. He's intrigued by their patience, their character, and we can see that in the way he preys on those with "strong minds and strong hearts." So this 'affection,' such as it is, is Aaravos' way of saying: 'humans have infinite potential, and I wish to help them fulfill it.' And why? Well, he sees an opportunity to be revered, to be worshiped for his greatness and hospitality. He would be the one to share the "brilliant light" of his kind. To be 'the one' that fulfilled humanity's true potential.
And if he's the one that 'saved' humanity, then the "arrogance" of Xadia isn't justified.

Aaravos is like, such a weirdo. He's just kinda a freak. "Our child! Our baby was so cute!" "I swallowed her" "I'm afraid his voice must come from your side of the family" "I am nothing if not elegant and efficient". Like hello, this guy just says shit

OMG these two have to meet in a fic, Ozai would be so offended at the prospect of "some freaky blue creature" having more power than him
Who would win in a fight, Aaravos or Fire Lord Ozai?
I’m gonna be real with you for a minute: Ezran has a better shot defeating Ozai than Ozai has of defeating Aaravos. This is like if a fifth grader picks a fight with a Navy Seal. It’s going to go down exactly how you’d expect.
Aaravos would probably see Ozai in action and say “Adorable. You’re a cheeky little human, what with your silly martial arts. But do you know what the difference between you and I is? You can hit a board and it’ll break in half. I can hit a board and wipe the entire forest from existence.”
