The first  Arab Fashion week
By Carla VIGNAU.
The first Arab Fashion week for men started Thursday in Dubai, an unprecedented and exclusively virtual event, due to the covid-19 pandemic, with video clips or traditional fashion shows without audience broadcast live on the internet.
Arab Fashion Week-Men's presents about fifteen designers from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Iran, the United Kingdom and France. The three-day event, broadcast live on YouTube, kicked off Thursday evening with a collection from the Emirati brand Amato, which has become international. Like in a video clip or a commercial shot in the desert, men are dressed in white, from lace t-shirts to more traditional Gulf costumes.
"The world around us is changing, as are attitudes towards fashion, and nowhere more so than in the Middle East," said Mohammed Aqra, director of strategy at the Arab Fashion Council, which represents the sector for 22 countries. "Arab Fashion Week-Men's showcases the scope of men's fashion beyond formal wear and streetwear, and paves the way for a bolder wardrobe for men in the Middle East," he added in a statement. While this is the first edition for men, Dubai Arab Fashion Week was launched in 2015, with the ambition to establish the emirate's name in the industry alongside the recognized fashion capitals of Paris, Milan, London and New York.

News of Saturday, January 30th
By Emilien Schoenher
🇺🇸: Brian Sicknick, 42, was injured when Donald Trump supporters forced their way into Congress on 6 January. He succumbed to his injuries the next day. An exceptional tribute will be paid to the officer. The officer's coffin will be displayed in the rotunda of the U.S. Parliament building in Washington.
- The eccentric billionaire never stops playing with the stock market. Elon Musk, Tesla's boss, added this Friday the mention "#bitcoin" on the bio of his Twitter account. That's all it took for the price of Bitcoin to soar, the currency's price has risen by 17% in 24 hours.
🇫🇷: New rallies took place today in dozens of cities in France to say stop to the proposed "global security" law, fought by civil liberties defenders and journalists' unions, and also to defend the right to culture. The demonstrators are particularly opposed to Article 24, which penalises the "malicious" dissemination of images of members of the security forces.               Throughout France, the demonstrations brought together 32,770 people, according to figures released by the interior ministry on Saturday evening.
- The Professional Football League (LFP) has decided to postpone the match between Olympique de Marseille (OM) and Stade Rennais, today, after several hundred OM supporters gathered at the Commanderie, the club's training centre, in the early afternoon. Operations to challenge the current management of the club have been organised for several weeks by supporters of Olympique de Marseille. The supporters have shown their anger by throwing smoke and firecrackers. Some demonstrators managed to enter the enclosure. OM denounced, in a communiqué, an "unacceptable attack" and "an unjustifiable outbreak of violence". "The damage inside the buildings amounts to several hundred thousand euros," the club said.
🇧🇷: The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has been plunged into a major media scandal in recent days following the revelation by the press of his government's lavish food spending for the year 2020. According to the online newspaper Metropoles, there would be a total of more than 1.8 billion reais, food and beverages, up 20% over the previous year. In particular, the federal administration spent 2.3 million euros on the purchase of sweetened condensed milk, the equivalent of two to three tonnes per day.

An anti-racist performance by Louis Vuitton for its new collection
By Carla VIGNAU.
On January 21, Virgil Abloh, Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton, presented his new collection, in the form of an anti-racist and anti-homophobic performance by American rappers, unveiled as part of Virtual Fashion Week in Paris.
A powerful political message
The film is inspired by “A Stranger in the Village”, an essay by black and gay American writer James Baldwin. He recounts his experience in the 1950s in a Swiss village among white people who discover a different being.
Here, the stranger is interpreted by poet and rapper Saul Williams . Artist and writer Kandis Williams, transgender dancer Tosh Basco (Boychild) and rapper Yasiin Bey (ex-Mos Def) take part in the performance where sequences of poetry, dance, skating and parade follow one another.
This multifaceted work questions the principles of identities and stereotypes that mark our society. Virgil Abloh seeks to deconstruct human certainties and to offer a fine example of openness to difference and the unexpected.
 In his notes, he writes:
"Fashion is a tool for shaping these identities [...]. Unconsciously, we trust a figure in a suit and we are suspicious when we see the outline of a hooded sweatshirt. [...] Is a businessman always white? Is a basketball player always black? Are they always heterosexual men?".

Wednesday January, 20 Actualities
🇺🇸 : A new president for the United States
Joe Biden today officially becomes the 46th President of the United States. His inauguration was held at the capitol in Washington where he was sworn in on the Bible . With him Kamala Harris becomes the first woman Vice President of the country but also the first person of color to hold this position which is a real step forward in the fight against segregation. Donald Trump, the outgoing president, still not acknowledging his defeat, did not attend the inauguration ceremony, a first in 150 years. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were present, Lady Gaga sang the American anthem and Jennifer Lopez sang "This Land is Your Land", an emblematic title that evokes freedom. In his speech, the new president wanted to bring Americans together and reassure them of the uncertainty America is going through. He also said that the fight against racism and terrorism would be one of his priorities.
⛷ : No reopening for the ski resorts
Bad news for the French ski resorts, the ski lifts will remain closed during the February vacations. A defense council was held this morning and the government announced in the afternoon that the ski lifts will not open on february first . Visitors will still be able to go to the ski resorts but mountain professionals fear a drop in their turnover. They had already been unable to open in december, so this new constraint, during the period when they make most of their turnover is a real stab in the back for most of them.
🎓 : Students; too much is too much
Today in France, many students have marched to denounce the precarious student situation and the pressure they are under. Classes have not resumed and take place behind a computer, many have lost their jobs and no longer have enough to live on, they are alone and have no social contacts ... All these reasons have pushed students to take to the streets in several large French cities, students feel forgotten and misunderstood by the government. The cases of suicides are increasing, the number of young people in depression too, and nothing is being done to help them, if they were out today it is to change things. They expect the government to take real measures to help them, because until now it has not been enough.

Sunday, the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield will not have kept the promises hoped for. The two champions of the championship parted with a sad 0-0, leaving Manchester United to race alone at the top of the Premier League table.
The poster between Inter Milan and Juventus will have turned in favor of the Milanese. The locals won 2-0 against the old lady thanks to goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella. The Nerrazuri remain 2nd in the standings while Ronaldo's teammates stagnate at a poor 5th place.
Today at 9 p.m. Arsenal host Newcastle at Wembley for Matchday 19. The team coached by Mikel Arteta will have to win to gain important points for their season in view of their disappointing last matches. The visitors will try to resist the Gunners to hope to win at least 1 important point for their survival in the first division.
Cagliari, 17th in Serie A, will receive the astonishing AC Milan team, currently alone in the league lead, led by a formidable Zlatan Ibrahimovíc. The Milanese must earn points for the league title, hotly contested this year despite a poorly embarked Juventus team. The "Casteddu" of Cagliari will count on a Joao Pedro of the great evenings to clinch a precious victory. Match Monday at 8:45 p.m.

Monday January 18th
By Claudia Oliveira.
New year and we are back. Today we are travelling a little bit. Let’s go to France with the #metooinceste which is breaking taboos. A little stop in the land of the Russians with the court hearing of Alexei Navalny. Last stop in Tunisia with the riots.
Tumblr media
In memory of Jean-Pierre Bacri.
Incest in a bourgeois family
This week-end, the social media twitter was drowned by testimonies of people under the #metooninceste. They came out a little bit after the publication of “la familia grande” a book written by Camille Kouchner. She accuse her brother-in-law Olivier Duhamel of rape on her twin. The testimonies scared french people because the subject is really taboo. For example a woman published : “ Me Elsa, rapped from 6 to 11 years by my dad”.
After the hospital bed : prison
After five months of intense care, the opposant Alexei Navalni is back on the charts. Remember that he was poisoned and he was being taken care of in Germany. When he came back to his native country he was arrested the moment he put his foot on the ground. An illegal arrest at first time but this monday, the russian government gave a legal character  to his imprisonment. He is now in detention for thirty days, Navalni who is against corruption said “I don’t understand what is happening. A minute ago they took me out of the cell to see my lawyers. But actually it is a court hearing…”
Riots of young people
In Tunisia, 600 people were arrested after a night of riots in a lot of cities. Young people between 15 and 25 years “burn tires and trash cans in horder to hinder security movements”. The police deployed a lot of brigades in many territories including the vast popular district of Ettadhamen, on the outskirts of Tunis, was targeted by protesters. Looting also took place in some areas.
The disappearance of a great actor
Jean-Pierre Bacri died at 69 years old of cancer. He was a great actor and a screenwriter. He played in a lot of movies like “Cuisine et dépendances” in 1992, “Un air de famille” in 1996. For the role in “On connait la chanson” he won a Cesar for the second role. As a screenwriter, he was awarded four times.

Many trials this Monday
By Claudia Oliveira
Between trial, rewriting of laws, volcano eruption and terrorist attack, it’s a normal Monday in 2020.
🇫🇷 : After the wave of discontent in France, the article 24 of the french constitution, which consists of not filming the police officers to not undermine their integrity, is now being studied again by the presidents of the assemblies. It is a little victory for the journalist and the population in France who protested in the streets all week-end.
Two trials started today in France :
The first one and the most important is the phone tapping trial. It is the first time that a french president is tried. Nicolas Sarkozy is on trial for corruption and influence peddling. He faces ten years of prison and a million fines.
The second one, is the trial of Joel le Scouarnec who is being prosecuted for pedocriminality. He is suspected of rape and sexual assault of 312 major and minor victims. Facts dating back to the period 1986-2014, in his home in Jonzac, the gendarmes found 300,000 pedophile images, including photos of the two nieces. He faces 20 years of jail.
🇩🇿: In Algeria, the trial of Karim Tabbou started today. The Algerian opponent is the figure of the group "Hirak" and his trial is being delayed a few times. His portrait was regularly brandished during weekly demonstrations against the power in Algeria until their suspension last March due to the health crisis.
🇲🇱: Three French army bases in the north and east of Mali were, Monday, November 30, 2020 in the morning in the space of a few hours, the target of attacks that did not cause any casualties, announced a spokesman for Operation Barkhane. An attack made after the French army killed the leader of al Qaeda.
🇮🇩: On Sunday 29 November, in Indonesia, the Lewotolo volcano erupted. A state of alert was launched and thousands of people evacuated the site.
📚: Let’s finish with a little of culture. Hervé Le Tellier awarded the Goncourt Prize for «The Anomaly» during a somewhat atypical ceremony : in vidéo conférence. A world novel that makes us travel by plane from the United States to France via Nigeria and India with the same passengers.

Nagorno-Karabakh: The indisputable Power of Russia is in Conflict
By Roman De Lagos
Since the end of September, there has been a conflict in the disputed territory Nagorno-Karabakh between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Russia was an observer until its request for a total ceasefire in this region signed on November 9, 2020.
On November 9, a total ceasefire was signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The land war that has already killed 5,000 people was stopped under the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia decided to send 2,000 soldiers at the same time as Turkey to monitor compliance with the ceasefire.
Armenian military forces will therefore have to leave the territory now belonging to Azerbaijan. Russia’s interest in Nagorno-Karabakh is to protect the corridor that connects Russia to Armenia.
Russia at the international level is the only one to manage this conflict with Turkey. Minsk, an organization set up by France, Russia and the United States to manage conflicts, preferred not to intervene in this war.
But this power exercised by Russia and Turkey in favor of Azerbaijan weakens Armenia’s diplomatic relations with the latter.
So Armenia no longer has an ally.
Following the signing of the total ceasefire, Azerbaijan appears as a military and territorial victor in this conflict. Azerbaijani thus regains control of Armenia because of the country's weakness and lack of diplomatic relations. Turkey strengthens its relations with Azerbaijan by providing them with protection and Armenia is thus subjected to the three countries power. Russia has therefore achieved its plan perfectly to position itself in the region but ensures the total cessation of military conflicts between the two countries.

Global Security Law in France: the freedom to inform in police custody?
by Carla VIGNAU.
The law, adopted in committee by the National Assembly on November 4, which is supposed to ensure the safety of police officers, is divisive. A necessary measure or an infringement of our fundamental freedoms?
Ensuring the protection of law enforcement agencies
"It's about protecting those who protect us". This is the leitmotiv exposed by Alice Thourot and Jean-Michel Fauvergue, two deputies of the Republic in March, bearers of this law. They assure that citizens and journalists will also be able to denounce cases of police blunders and violence, but that the lynching that an exhibition on social networks could lead to on members of the police force must be curbed at all costs.
However, Article 24 is controversial, as it plans to prohibit the dissemination of images of police officers during the performance of their duties if they are not blurred. This new offence would then be punishable by one year in prison and a 45,000 euro fine.
An attack on the freedom to inform
The measures violated the July 29, 1881, press freedom law and were deemed to have been liberticidal for part of the opposition as well as for all journalists' unions. Rights defender Claire Hédon denounced "considerable risks to several fundamental rights, including the right to privacy and freedom of information. In a press release issued on November 9, the SNJ, SNJ-CGT, CFDT-Journalists, SGJ-FO, the LDH, and the international and European federations of journalism fear, among other things, the future arrests of journalists to be expected in the event that this censorship is refused. They highlight the attack on press freedom that it constitutes and consider that it "also aims to prevent the revelation of cases of illegitimate police violence, often hidden by the hierarchy of civil servants".
The videos of smears disseminated notably on social networks and potentially taken up by the media constitute, moreover, one of the only means for victims to express themselves and denounce these abuses. 55 organizations are already taking a stand against this law and denounce the encouragement of impunity that it establishes. A petition has also been launched to prevent its official promulgation, which has now obtained nearly 600,000 signatures.

by Emilien Schoenher
🇫🇷 : - Today all over France there have been demonstrations against the Global Security Law. A law that aims to protect police officers, who are forced to blur the faces of law enforcement officers when videos of them are posted on the Internet. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 133,000 people demonstrated all over France, including 46,000 in Paris. In the late afternoon clashes took place between demonstrators and police officers. MARADONA: A LEGEND NEVER DIE.
By Tom Legrand.
This week, one of the gods of football has left us. Diego Armando Maradona, who went down in history as Diego Maradona, the number 10 legend of Naples and Argentina. The Argentinean died on Thursday 26 November at the age of 60.
World Champion with Argentina in 1986 in what is considered one of the greatest finals of the competition, he scored two goals that everyone remembers: the "Hand of God", and a mad rush in which he eliminated the entire English team and propelled the ball into the back of the net.
To pay tribute to him, this week's sports section has been entirely dedicated to him.

Summary of the day
By Daniel HANCA
First of all, the Australian tennis open will be postponed for two weeks due to the pandemic, which will have financial consequences for other tournaments.
Then, France is preparing to gradually come out of its confinement with a first stage which begins tomorrow, with in particular the reopening of non-essential businesses.
-The Australian Open, initially scheduled to start on January 18, cannot take place until at least February. If the health situation has improved in Australia, which was subjected to strict lockdown for three months, no longer deplores any cases now. However, the will of the tournament organization to bring in the players in mid-December to observe quarantine is not possible because the borders are closed until the end of the year. The decision to postpone to February 1 seems to be the most likely; a cancellation of the tournament is not considered at the moment. This postponement will also have consequences for the other tournaments that were to take place at that time. So, the tournaments of Marseille, Montpellier and the entire season on clay in Latin America would therefore be cancelled.
Tumblr media
-France will then ease its confinement. The first stage begins tomorrow with the reopening of all non-essential businesses, after a month of closure. In addition, confinement remains in force at least until December 15. If the health situation evolves positively by then, on December 15 theatres, museums and cinemas will be able to reopen and confinement can thus be replaced by a national curfew from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. But restaurants, bars and nightclubs will not be able to reopen before the end of the year, because they are places where the risk of contamination is too risky. Sporting events will also be played behind closed doors at least until next January. Finally, January 20 begins a new phase where bars and restaurants can reopen and this date will mark the end of the curfew.

Was Kamala Harris a Good Choice or a Savvy Choice to Win the Election?
Tumblr media
By Claudia Oliveira
Kamala Harris was elected Vice-President of the United states alongside President Joe Biden on November 7. A news that please the American people because minorities can finally identify with someone because she’s half African-American and half Indian and women can finally have a role model in a seat of power. She points out the failure of the police but does some things people do not agree with.
Some people say the problem is that she represents the complete opposite of the movement Black Lives Matter, and that she has authoritarian tendencies, and a complete lack of empathy for the innocent, as well as an unquenchable thirst for power.
She indeed had opposed the death penalty in part, as being discriminatory toward people of color, she also objected to body cameras worn by some police officers despite all that the Americans are not convinced. A student from North Carolina A&T State University said, “Kamala doesn't shake the table enough for me in terms of her demands for things that I hold dear, such as universal healthcare, the total elimination of student debt, raising the minimum wage, and also her history as a prosecutor in California isn't necessarily a strong mark on her resume for me.”
Opinions are divided, a survey shows that only 47% of black Americans under the age of 30 were going to vote for Biden. But with Harris by his side, the figure rises to 73%. Another student said “she makes Joe look good.”

The Paris Saint Germain Football Team Gets Off To A Poor Start This Season
By Dario Divialle
The Paris football team (PSG) made a very bad start to the football season.
In the first French league (Ligue 1), they have already had three defeats since the season began in September, too many for a club like this. Since 2012, they have been doing well. They won 9 titles in the French championship, and seven since 2012.
But this year, it is the worst start to the season that Paris has had since their rebirth in 2012 when X bought the club adding more money and a new president.
This season, the players do not seem motivated and their coach Thomas Tuchel does not seem to make good tactical choices.
In the Champions League, the biggest football competition in Europe, Paris has been defeated twice already this season, and they are fighting to qualify in the next round. It’s odd given that they were in the final of this European Championship last season, playing against Bayern-Munich football team.
Fans wonder what’s going on and they expect a reaction from the players and the staff. They know that there have been many injuries in the Parisian squad, but now that they are complete or almost complete, they have no excuse. Despite this poor performance, it must be admitted that the Covid-19 pandemic did not help the players. In the stadiums, there are no more supporters to push their teams to win, and it’s difficult for a player to play in an empty stadium. So it is hoped that the PSG will recover before it is too late.
