It's nothing like Sonic x RD (being inspired/borne out of popularity of either franchise), but it was inspired by their friendship in a crossover fanfiction. So it's kinda sorta like SoniDash or Isabelle x Doom Guy in terms of how it became a thing.

This was made as a stupid joke and as satire based off around the 2010s when MLP FIM was getting popular and it was getting crossed over with Sonic (plus him getting paired up with RD) on Deviantart and it was WILD!!!

This is crazy to think about. Unlike most other ships and other fandom inventions, MordeTwi came about naturally, and it's all thanks to a B plot chapter of a story where they weren't even being shipped to begin with. The ship even grew a fanbase shortly after!

Sadly, it goes downhill and gets ruined come mid-2012 (if you know, you know).

Mordecai and Twilight would be good friends if they met, his chill yet fun-loving demeanor would work well with Twilight's strategic and curious nature.

Let's be honest, neither RS nor MLP had satisfying finales in terms of romance, (I mean seriously, do you know who Stef is?) especially MLP since Twilight seemed to be alone relationship-wise; this is probably a ship that cannot be topped and I do not believe it deserves the hate it gets.

Yeah, most of this post is plagiarized, actually.

That is true, I agree. Unfortunately, it seems like people vote on the basis of vibes, familiarity or likeability (I know I do), rather than which pair is the crackiest or most out-there. I think this is more of a popularity contest rather than a Crack consensus.

Speaking of AMVs, it seemed like MordeTwi had a bunch of those (tribute videos) that preceded the original Airplanes art; only one or two survived. Either they got deleted eventually out of shame or due to the Airplanes meme fad, or the associated account was taken down, either for prolonged inactivity or TOS. There are a few more pre-2020. Yeah, not a lot of people knew MordeTwi was already (in)famous before the '20s. Most people probably thought it was just a shitpost that a poor drawing started.

Well MordeTwi got this in the bag for the first bracket. Also I wished someone added Pinkie Pie x Rigby in this tournament, just so the two RS/MLP pairs have a chance to "duke it out" in a sense.

Anyways, I got some stuff I want to add to the propaganda:

I see people claim that "Mordecai hates unicorns", and point that out as argument for why "this ship won't work". Guess what? That claim is actually a myth. Even after his little ordeal with the DudeBronicorns, Mordecai questions Benson's rule to ban unicorns; surely those DudeBronicorns would be enough to justify that rule for him, right? But no. He doesn't think all unicorns are bad. (Am I reading too much into this?)

Real MordeTwi fans know that MordeTwi was already cool before the infamous and unrelated Airplanes art was even a thing.
