The Congress government in Rajasthan has announced to introduce an unemployment allowance from March 1 for educated unemployed youth. According to an announcement made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, educated unemployed youth in the state will get a monthly allowance of up to Rs 3,500. The decision was announced by Gehlot on Thursday while inaugurating the students’ union office at the Rajasthan University. He informed that while unemployed educated boys will get Rs 3,000 per month, girls will get Rs 3,500. The government has also set criteria for this. Secretary (Employment) Rajesh Kumar Yadav informed that one has to be a resident of Rajasthan and a graduate from a university in the state with a family income up to Rs 2 lakh. Candidates, who fall in the eligibility criteria, applying online will get the benefits, Yadav said, adding that guidelines for the scheme are currently being framed. According to the government statement, there are around 1 lakh educated unemployed youth in Rajasthan who will get benefit from the move. Around 70,000 such youth are currently receiving the allowance. Malaysia will terminate a $20 billion rail project with contractor China Communications Construction Co., Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali said. IRCTC survey asked passengers about toilets, linen, housekeeping to rank trains The results of the first-ever ‘Total Cleanliness Survey’ of the Railways are now out, and the winners are North Western Railway (NWR), which topped the zonal rankings in the ‘Premium’ category trains, and Southern Railway, which came out on top in the ‘Other than Premium’ category’ trains. The survey covered 209 trains and was conducted by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. Its aim was to assess the progress of the ‘Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat’ mission and promote healthy competition among trains. While the NWR got an average score of 860 out of 1,000 in the ‘Premium’ category, South Central Railway finished at the bottom with an average of 658. Southern Railway topped the ‘Other than Premium’ category’, with the highest average of 736 among the 16 railway zones, while the East Central Railway was the dirtiest in this group, with an average of 572. The ‘Premium’ trains included the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Tejas and Gatiman while Sampark Kranti, Intercity, Jan Shatabdi and other Mail and Express trains were in the ‘Other than Premium’ category. Among 26 Shatabdi trains, the Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi, with 916, finished on top, followed by the Howrah-Ranchi and Delhi-Kanpur Shatabdis. The Kochuveli-Chandigarh Sampark Kranti was the cleanest among the 20 Sampark Kranti trains, with a score of 754. The KSR Bengalaru-Ernakulam train topped among 20 Intercity services. Opinion of on-board passengers was sought on toilets, housekeeping, linen and general cleanliness. A total of 15,360 passengers from 16 zones, took part in the survey. The Indian pharma industry now has an opportunity to increase exports to Iran, following a rupee payment mechanism agreed upon recently by India and the Persian Gulf nation. Half of amount credited by Indian firms for oil could be utilised by Iran for pharmaceutical purchases. Under the agreement, Indian refiners make payments in rupee for oil imports from Iran, to designated accounts maintained with UCO Bank. A portion thus received is to be used by Iran to pay for imports from India, including pharmaceuticals. “Indian pharma exports to Iran were at $124.05 million last fiscal. Iran has a well-established pharma industry that meets 80% of the country’s requirement.
