It's trans icon Amoonguss cupcakes for Pride month! 🏳️‍🌈🧁

Next up in our Pride Pokemon desserts series, these orange cupcakes were inspired by Cecilily's excellent video essay explaining why Amoonguss says "trans rights!" 🏳️‍⚧️ (All her videos are incredible btw, I first found her via "Why do queer people love Pokémon" and I've been obsessed since!)

These are zesty orange-infused cupcakes, with Cointreau buttercream icing. 🍊 I made the Pokeballs by layering pink, blue, white and black icing into silicone dome molds, freezing them, adding a bit more icing and pushing the cupcakes into them. After setting up in the freezer a bit longer, they peeled right out, and I just had to pipe on their little faces!

Pride Month is such an important time for us to come together and support one another, especially at a time when gay and trans rights are being slowly chipped away, in the US, in Britain, and here in Canada. Please reach out to the queer people in your life, and if possible, consider donating to causes like Point of Pride who provide gender-affirming care to trans people.

Come Out, Squirtle - but make it 🌈cake🌈

We turned a funfetti cake into this iconic scene from the official 1999 Pokemon book! The details are all orange-flavoured buttercream frosting, and we made Squirtle, Poliwhirl and Charmander using icing transfers.

This is part of my 🏳️‍🌈Pride Pokemon desserts series I do every Pride Month, and it's possibly one of my favourites! (Peep a few in the last pic!) I love combining my passions for Pokemon and baking, and it's been so special incorporating what I love and parts of my identity. That I can maybe help others who are often sidelined, to also feel seen, is truly the icing on the cake.

I want to be part of a world where everyone feels welcome and safe to come out when and how they choose. Right now, the most vulnerable people are once again being scapegoated, and attacks on our rights will continue to ramp up. But our love will outlive hate, and no amount of legislation will ever make us disappear. Fight on, until the day it's safe for us all to be out and proud. 💪

Pan Pride Pokemon cookies!

Funny story - during the Twitch stream where I tried to make our Zamazenta pan pride cake, I totally failed the recipe. It was too late to start over, but I did have leftover cookie dough and icing - so these cuties were born!

This was a great addition to our Pokemon Pride desserts series, and while I love the half-shiny Dudunsparce, pan Ditto is the real winner in my heart! I may have to make one for each flag...

Celebrating my birthday with a simple but sweet cake of my fav: Jolteon! 🎂⚡

I love spending my birthday making my own cake just how I want. Though this year I promised myself I'd keep it extra simple so I'd finish before sunset for once (and it worked, I finished just as my husband brought me lunch 🥳) Happy Birthday to me!

Pokemon cookie dough pops for intersex, non-binary, and asexual pride! 💛🖤🤍💜

Throwback to when we first started making 🏳️‍🌈Pokemon Pride desserts back in 2022! I'd figured we'd tackle a bunch of pride flags with similar colour schemes, so we've got shiny Joltik for the intersex flag, Raikou for non-binary, and Gothitelle for the asexual flag! (And snuck in Toxtricity because the colours were just too close!)

These are like cake pops, but with edible cookie dough instead of a cake/icing filling - imo a much more appealing texture (no comment about whether or not I enjoyed making one minty).

Happy Pride and Pokemon GO Fest! 🏳️‍🌈

Every June, we bake up Pokemon desserts based on different pride flags, and Zamazenta with the pansexuality pride flags was too perfect - especially since we did Zacian and the transgender flag last year!

Pansexuality refers to folks who are attracted towards people of all genders, regardless of their gender identity. ❤️💛💙 This can overlap with bisexuality, which refers to being attracted to more than one gender, or people of your own gender and different genders. ❤️💜💙

Both cakes were made by mixing up a cake "paste" of butter, powdered sugar, egg whites, and flour (recipe by howtocookthat) which we dyed in different colours and used to trace our design, as seen in the photos. We then poured vanilla sponge cake batter by thesqueakymixer over Zamazenta, baked it, and flipped it to reveal the design! The filling is a simple whipped cream. 🍰 What other pride flag and Pokemon combinations should we make this month?

We recreated the Pokemon Cafe Fidough dessert live on stream! Talk about the perfect cake to share on my birthday! 🎂

The official name of this dessert is "I Choose You! Pokeball Dessert Bowl" because it was served in a Pokeball, so I did my best to recreate it with my ThinkGeek Pokeball bowl set! The original dessert included cake, whipped cream, strawberries and a thin mochi layer, and it was so much fun to make all those elements from scratch!🍓 My version is a deconstructed strawberry shortcake with mochi, and it is SO TASTY! 🤤

This month, we've been fundraising for St Jude Children's Research Hospital on Twitch, and making dishes inspired by our Japan honeymoon exactly one year ago. This was definitely a highlight!

Happy Easter!

I made Pikachu, Eevee, Togepi and Buneary cookies with their Pokemon Go flower crowns and hats!

These were a ton of fun to make, including all the individual little royal icing flowers. I’m proud of how much my cookie-decorating skills have improved - faces are still really hard, but I think I did okay!

I also got some photos of them with the Stunfisk matza treats we made during our Passover livestream!
