Butterfly symbolism for Shinobu goes way deeper when you think about it.

She's pretty, she's alluring, has the grace and elegance to go with it. She's gentle and light.

But she's also dangerous. Some butterflies are poisonous/toxic to predators. Guess who else is. Shinobu. She deliberately consumes wisteria, much like how some caterpillars eat poisonous plants when they start out and store those toxins for when they're later adults.

She has a bright color palette. A butterfly uses bright colors to warn predators away.

And what happens, exactly, when Douma eats her? When the bird finally catches the insect and ignores all the warning signs.

He melts. He's poisoned.

Shinobu is a butterfly, not just aesthetically.

She's masking how deadly she really is.

Say what you want about Sonic Frontiers, but I think its story is one of the best. Every character is made to be their own person, even planning personal journeys to accomplish this. The theme throughout is love, protection, guidance. How Sage develops as a character is really sweet, going from blindly attacking Sonic, to understanding and even believing in his ability to achieve impossible odds. Eggman and Sage's father-daughter relationship, painting Eggman in such a beautiful light.

It's really all you can ask of a Sonic game yeah?
