I had a real hankering for pizza and only fridge and pantry ingredients. Pretty good for a whatever鈥檚-in-the-fridge pie. Fresh mozzarella, sauce I made from leftover tomato sauce and homemade broth, leftover rotisserie chicken, and red onion.

I鈥檝e been on a bit of a hiatus from culinary exploration recovering from my accident, and (very unfortunate for a cook) a GERD flare up. Since the accident, I鈥檝e been struggling to write. I鈥檓 told it鈥檚 normal to get epic brain fog for a short time. I鈥檓 considering moving this to a separate blogging site to better focus on the journey (and perhaps a bit more exposure.)

I also collect old barware. Check out this set I found in a storage shed.

To preface: I have attempted to keep this a fun and mostly culinary/vintage blog, but I wanted to share this somewhere, and this account is an outlet for me.
On Wednesday, I was in a bad T-bone accident on my way to work. It鈥檚 been one hell of a week. I desperately want to get back to my routine (and cook!). I suffered some gnarly soft tissue injury on my right breast and underarm, the left side of my neck, as well as my left hip and stomach. Both knees heavily bruised as well as the back of my left leg. I also cut my ankle open on the brake pedal. (Thank god I was wearing my riding boots. I believe they saved me from a broken ankle) I鈥檓 still struggling to lift my right arm, and my body is stiff, but it has improved. By far the worst part has been the mental trauma (and insane brain fog.) Wednesday night I hyperventilated and cried the entire night and couldn鈥檛 comfortably eat a meal until Friday. I鈥檓 struggling to remember mundane things, but am otherwise functioning mostly as normal now. I wasn鈥檛 sure where else to document this, but here it is. I鈥檓 lucky, and unbelievably happy to be alive and (mostly) unharmed. I guess the biggest take I have from this experience is that the little things don鈥檛 matter much, and we are all so much more resilient than we give ourselves credit for. I promise to live life to the best of my ability from now on. This experience has shown me how truly loved I am.

Meet Fermento Bravino.
Trying out some fermenting. This is turnips, shallots, and seasonings. Hoping to get some gut biome friendly eats in.

These recipes are awful you can tell he鈥檚 morbidly and terminally English. The part about him being a man was really something though, and bonus points for the comically vague sweetbreads recipe and the boiled rice.

Boyfriend found this old French lesson book from the 1910鈥檚. I鈥檓 studying my French so he thought I would like it. It鈥檚 very old and has the students scribbles inside. A sweet little book.
