Why “A” of “allies” is not part of the LGBTI community

I'm gonna keep this short and simple because it is 3am and I need to sleep. The “allies” of the LGBTI, LGBTQ LGBTIAQ, LGBT, GLBT, cannot be and are not part either of the community or the initialism (in the case of the A, it does stand for asexuals), these due to one simple reason:

“their rights are not directly affected”

When there is a group fighting for rights within the law these groups are conformed by the members who are part of it not their supporters. Heterosexuals cisgender rights have nothing to do with same sex marriage, change of sex in I.D. or birth certificates, nor with fights for public and media representation. If A of allies were part of the LGBTI community this would just further complicate legal proceedings for future laws or any type of advances.

If you really are a supporter, an ally, do not forget that in most countries, it's not just about parades and celebrations, there is still a fight for rights and a legal subject where the protagonist have to be defined, and represented in order to improve the chances of getting approval and reaching their goals within the law.

Journey to self discovery

This is basically regarding how I identified myself and the importance of representation, tolerance and how we show ourselves to others.

After some chaotic months of experimenting with my bisexuality, I had found peace and accepted that I was not gay, but rather bi (at that point I believed being gay would be less complicated for others to understand and even for myself).

I must say this, I am overall a very confident person, my family still doesn't know about me being bi, my close friends do. Regardless I strongly believe it is of no one's concern since it id something private, related to my sex/love life and has nothing to do with my value and capacities as a human being.  

Yet as soon as I told some of my friends the “are you sure you are not gay?” “I'm sure you're gay” “you just don't want to admit you're gay” comments started to come up, and the funny thing is I actually tried being “gay” but I also like girls, and at the current stage of my life, I'm still surprised most homosexual and heterosexual find it hard to believe there are actually bisexual individuals. But back then I took the easy way out, since I was dating a boy I decided to tell people I was gay and it was simple, there were no uncalled invalidating comments, but then after we broke up I dated a girl, and those who I had told I was gay, called me a liar, said I was pretending, others were just shocked and mad (to which seriously I was just annoyed by all that unrequested interest in my personal life), and so they asked for the truth, and my answer was “Im bi”... and YES, you guessed it, NO ONE believed me, not that I was seeking validation but they were asking for an answer but not willing to accept the truth, and then I understood, it's not about seeking validation, or settling others down, it's about being honest about who you are (as long as you are safe) and standing proud of the community you represent and are part of; there are a lot of invalidating comments and even more prejudices towards bisexual people, outside and within the LGBTI community, and this hurts me a little, cause each group seems to fight for their own space in society, and the idea of community is lost. 

I'm aware we don't all ask for the same rights because we have different needs, but we do fight for the same ideals, respect, tolerance, equality and equity, seriously let's learn to support each other genuinely as a community, bisexual exist, queers exist, transgender, transexuals, intersexuals, none of these need validation, but we all need support in our fight for rights and spaces of representation.

Stand proud of what you are, and spread the love.

Apparently Nickelodeon wants to build an attraction in Palawan, Philippines . 

This might seem fun for some people, but for us it’s not. 

You see, Palawan is known for its non-commercialized islands and untouched beaches. There are only a few resorts in there, and the government limits tourism population there. Here are some pictures of our beautiful islands:

Nickelodeon, however, wants to capitalize the island of Coron, Palawan. They’re going to build a resort and theme park there. They claim that they want to “spread environmental awareness” but they’re really not. Building this resort will disrupt the marine ecosystem; thus destroying the environment there. Also, Palawan is our last ecological frontier in the Philippines. If they’re going to continue to do this, more and more big companies will cash-in to commercialize Palawan- and I really do not want that to happen.

I know petitions won’t do much, but at least we can prove a point that Palawan should not be disrupted. Please sign this petition, so that it will not only show that us Filipinxs don’t want this, but people from different countries as well. Please spread it around as well, so that people from different countries can be aware of what Nickelodeon is doing.
