Top 100 Songs of 2020 (Finale)
Sorry it's been so long, but here are the final songs of my 2020 Top 100 Song Countdown. I have been on this creative slump for the last two years, so forgive me if this is poorly written.
Title taken from a line of lyrics:
“Deliver You From Harm”
Caleb Hyles-Hero
General Plot inspired by song:
Marylin Manson’s Sweet Dreams are Made of These
The general plot is about a young woman who is haunted by nightmares on a regular basis. She sees visions of abuse and torture and reguarly sees a psychologist about these dreams. The psychologist uses psychoanalysis to uncover repressed memories of the woman.
Character Theme for Protagonist #1:
Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring: Introduction
Clara is a 18 year old, pure and innocent. She was born and raised inside a cult where she would be sacrificed to their high ruler. However, she was taken away from the cult when she was about 2 years old and has no memories of what her life was like. Throughout the years she has been struggling with nightmares regarding the cult and tries to piece together what happened to her.
Character Theme for Protagonist #2:
Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata
Dr. Toby Foster is a psychologist whose life was stricken with tragedy. However he doesn’t remember any of this. He is a serious man who wants to uncover Clara’s unconscious, as he too was part of a cult at one point in his life. He figures by helping Clara remember, he too can remember what happened to him.
Character Theme for Protagonist #3:
Myuu-Mutter
Robin Cain serves as Clara’s guardian, who is very concerned about Clara growing up. Robin knows about Clara’s past and tries to keep it hidden from her. Robin has problems of her own as her mother had abandoned her when she was young and suffers from abandonment issues.
Character Theme for Antagonist(s)
Urban Voodoo Machine’s Love Song 666
Lars Sundermann is a wicked old man who had started a sex cult. He has issues with his love life. Most of the cult members are women that he calls his wives. He is also the birth father of Clara. Clara’s mother, Heidi had quickly left the church after Clara was taken away. Lars tries to win Heidi back throughout the film, which she refuses in multiple ways.
Prokiev’s Knights Dance
Lars’s henchmen are men dressed as black knights. These are the head councilmen for the cult and serve as secondary antagonists. Throughout the movie, there is knight symbolism, indicating that Lars is watching over Clara still.
The Opening Theme to Your Movie:
Kamelot’s Kevlar Skin
Clara has a dream of a white knight fighting for his life against the dark knights. Clara is in the dream as well, dressed as a princess, but she cannot do anything as she is wrapped in vines with thorns. She pleads for the white knight to save her but the dream is over as she wakes up to an alarm noise.
A song that describes the location or time this story takes place:
Helloween’s Midnight Sun
I don’t know, the mid 2000s? That would make sense since it is a little after the Satanic Panic craze of the 90s.
A song that describes how all the characters meet:
ACDC’s Dirty Deeds
There is an awkward therapy session between Clara, Robin and Doctor Foster. Robin reports that she had walked in on Clara having sex with her school’s principle and is mortified by Clara’s recent actions.
A Song That Describes the climax of Your Movie:
Them’s Forever Burns
A murder fest has taken place with the black knights murdering the women of the cult. Clara is forced by Lars to sit and watch this take place and is deeply traumatized by this.
The Ending Theme to Your Movie:
Casey Lee Williams-Nevermore
The movie ends with the church on fire and Clara walking off into the distance, leaving her past behind her.

Top 100 songs of 2020 part 2
I started writing this sometime in December, but I became so depressed I never had a chance to finish it. If things look outdated, thats because I wrote it in December, before there was a vaccine. I am in a musical mood and felt like continuing where I had left off. These are songs 26 to 57
1. A Song That Described Your Winter-Britney Spears-What it's Like to be Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IQgJx05JxE
The beginning of the year, even before COVID hit, was rough because I was dealing with some physical and psychological issues. I had a few psychotic episodes over winter break and really couldn’t treat it because of lack of time as I was playing catch up with the previous semester of school. I didn’t go to school spring of 2020 because I was so burnt out. My family was disappointed in me but they had no idea the hell I went through during that month.
2. A Song That Described Your Spring-Cake-The Distance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_HoMkkRHv8
I was manic throughout the spring and eventually diagnosed with bipolar II disorder. For those who don’t know I started a soundcloud account and made a goal of creating 200 songs in quarantine. I completed that goal within the span of four months. I chose the Distance because it's one of the many songs I remixed.
3. A Song That Described Your Summer-Ozzy Osbourne-Crazy Train (Song to Grow On)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMDFv5m18Pw
I was dealing with depression after the mania hit. My depression had many forms. One day I’d be suicidal, the next day I’d just be lazy. Add COVID to the mix and you have one hot mess.
This is one of many songs to grow on as mental illness is a prominent theme of my life, even though I’m in a somewhat better place now than I was in June.
4. A Song That Described Your Autumn- Erik Satie-Gymnopédies I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Xm7s9eGxU&ab_channel=DistantMirrors
Autumn was uneventful as was my late summer and my winter. Not to say that this song is boring but there isn’t a lot that happens in this song. It makes perfect waiting music.
5. A Song That Described Your End of the Year-Lindsay Sterling Shatter Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49tpIMDy9BE
I was feeling hopeful for a vaccine and sure enough one has finally been made. I know things aren’t going to go back to normal for a while. But this is a song about hope.
.
6. A Song that Describes Your Childhood: Power of Love from the Sailor Moon North American Soundtrack (Song to grow on)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV3AdFBqUP4&ab_channel=SerenaH
Sailor Moon had a big impact on me as it played a role in my childhood. I remember listening to the Full Moon Collection on repeat. This song had to be one of my favorites on the album. I chose this song over any other Sailor Moon song because I’m a frim believer that the power of love can conquer any obstacle.
7. A Song About Someone You Wish You Forgot About-Tragic Tantrum-Only With You
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P7sx7RNXSA
This song is about a toxic relationship that lasted since childhood up until just recently. Everytime I listen to this song I think of him and how grateful I am that he is no longer in my life.
8. Song with a Number in the Title: When the Clock Struck 12-Them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOMDPTIq_Mw
9. A Song from Your One of Your Fandoms: Trust Love-Casey Lee Williams (RWBY)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGc5cQ6ePbw
10. A Disney Song or a Disney Cover You Like: Oogie Boogie Song from the Nightmare Before Christmas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clURHZ5TfCQ
Speed Round stolen from AssassinJ2. Instead of spelling out my name I will list genres and I will put down a song that I like from 2020.
11. Alternative: Muse-Knights of Cydonia (songs to grow on)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_sBOsh-vyI
12 Blues: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy-Save My Soul
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5IEt63qOSI
13 Classical: Dvorak-New World Symphony 4th Movement
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVDofBFtvwA
14 Cover: Northern Kings-Kiss From a Rose
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDLSlg78gFU
15 Dance: Krewella-Marching On
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjIixf2uEQU
16 Emo: Fall Out Boy-Just One Yesterday (I don’t know if this song counts)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSfKSUd31MM
17 Electronica: Crystal Castles-Empathy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLi2v-Gq-5A
18 Film Score: Jeff Williams-Forever Fall Part II

Top 100 Songs of 2020 Part 1
Well it's that time of year again. Time for another Top 100 song countdown. 2020 was really difficult because of the pandemic. I didn’t actively listen to music as much as I would of liked, so this year’s countdown was a lot harder to write. There were not a lot of personal songs as my life has been put on pause. So I decided to add songs I liked throughout my lifetime which I call “songs to grow on” that way I have a 100 songs. There will not be honorable mentions this year.
I’ll be doing the countdown similar to how I did last year’s with it's various prompts. Except I left my Mixed Tape in New York and I’m writing this in California. (I may just end up using the same exact cards I used last year) So here are the first twenty five songs.
One last thing, I’ve been suffering from crippling writer’s block, so forgive me for my lack of commentary.
1.A Song That Makes You Happy: Helloween-Salvation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1uKfkj5tl4
This one was tough because I don’t have a lot of happy songs on my Top 100 list. That being said this is one of the more hopeful songs on the list.
2. A Song That Makes You Laugh: I Will Survive by Igudesman and Joo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xui7x_KF7bY
I found this version while trying to find a reference for a metal cover. Not quite what I was looking for but I found it hilarious. It's even better when you watch the video with the song.
3. A Song That Makes You Sad: Sergei Rachmaninoff-Prelude in C Sharp Minor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCtixpIWBto
I feel the overwhelming sense of passion being crushed in this song. It's tragic.
4. A Song That Makes You Cry: Sadness and Sorrow from the Naruto soundtrack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk60F8a7-Jw
Call me cliche, but this song does make me cry.
5. A Song That Makes You Feel Scared: Stravinsky-Right of Spring: the sacrifice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aJITLFLM30
This song reminds me of a horror movie. I think it was used in Psycho, but I could be wrong.
6. A Song That is Overwhelming with Emotion: Orff-O Fortuna
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJC-_j3SnXk
It's such an epic song!
7. A Song That Brings Out Many Emotions In You: Julius Eastman-Evil N Six Piano Version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCtW_C6X95I&t=5s
I did a live watch of this performance where I cycled through a series of emotions; anxiety, fear and sadness. It's such an epic song too, there was a part where I was headbanging to it because it's so metal.
8. A Song That Makes You Proud: Bratz-Stand Out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flfxs9Zjn68
This is one of those songs to grow on as it's been one of my favorite songs throughout my life.
9. A Song that Motivates You: Richard Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P73Z6291Pt8
Another song to grow on as this has been one of my favorite classical pieces. I feel powerful listening to this song, as if nothing can stop me.
10. A Song That Makes You Feel Calm: John Cage’s Suite for a Toy Piano
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC78T-i6pow
True story; listening to John Cage helped me through my psychotic episodes throughout the year. This is one of my favorite pieces by him.
11. A Song to Fall Asleep to: Thais-Meditation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QtGOWemQhY&ab_channel=RusandaPanfili
This song is super relaxing.
12. A Song That Makes You Think Rammstein’s Amerika
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr8ljRgcJNM
This is the song that got me somewhat interested in politics. It's a deep song despite it's simple structure.
13. A Song About Love: Rainy Day Man form the Sailor Moon Dic Dub Soundtrack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcyQqiZdaMc
It's more of a break up song since I don’t really have any love songs in my Top 100 this year. It's mostly depressing stuff.
14. A Song That Makes You Feel Sexy: Riot-Hot for Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRejJ4DE_xk
Those are the sexiest guitar licks I ever heard.
15. A Song That Makes You Wanna Dance: Krewella’s Play Hard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV-HGy_x5Ls
This is the song that got me into Krewella. This song brings back memories to when I saw them live. It was my first concert! <3
16. A Song That Makes You Angry: Song for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pqpo8x70-bM
The song itself doesn’t make me angry, but rather I listen to this song a lot when I feel angry.
17. A Song That Brings Back Fond Memories: Bratz-Grow Up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aotKQW4rQg4
I loved the Bratz growing up. The Rock Angelz video game was my favorite game to play. This song brings back memories of a simpler time.
18. A Song That Changed the Way You See Music: John Cage-Sonata I for Prepared Piano
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrzE58xb5Ig
I didn’t know by distorting the piano strings you could get different sounds. It's such a relaxing sound when done correctly.
19. A Song You Often Sing in the Shower: King for a 1000 Years by Helloween
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5aIZv-Auxk
This is yet another song to grow on, as it's my favorite Helloween piece. When I sing this piece, I give it an operatic spin.
20. A Song You Wish You Could Sing: Mozart’s Queen of the Night Aria
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuBeBjqKSGQ
I could do the “ahs” if they were pitched down several octaves. Not to mention that this song is in a different language.
21. A Song You Can Play on An Instrument: Shostakovich-Waltz #2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phBThlPTBEg
Only the right hand section. I still can’t play with two hands.
22. A Song That Would Be the Theme Song of Your Life: Cold Solitude by Mournful Gust
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cXwfqSF3q4
I’m feeling depressed which is why I chose this song. Loneliness is a prominent theme within my life and I feel that this song was appropriate.
23. A Song That Describes How Others See You: Bring Me to Life 2nd Demo by Evanescence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FERAHgTwrE8
I’m a goth chick, what can I say?
24. A Song No One Would Expect You to Like: AC/DC’s TNT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGDQ9IukMOc
I really like AC/DC but no one would expect me to like them. They are the foundation of heavy metal, so of course I like them.
25. A Song You Never Get Tired Of: Carry On from the Sailor Moon Dic Dub Soundtrack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqMHRKTYDHM
The Dic Dub had some great songs!

Last October, I did a social experiment to see if anyone wanted to voice some charcters in EdgeLordess reviews. I didn’t think I’d get that much attraction. What started with 3 VA, became 33! This memoir covers my growth as a creator starting from the very start of my video making passion to Burning the Pages.
