MORDRED THE WOLF

Born in the city-state of Ur-Shaddai, Mordred was trained from an early age to follow in his parents' footsteps as a scholar of occult wisdom. When he was thirteen however, his parents fell into a mysterious state of terminal madness exhibited by countless numbers of his ancestors; his family line carried an eldritch curse to forever be haunted by an ancient Great One which invaded their dreams. Running out of money for his parents' medical care, Mordred joined his uncle's mercenary company in order to pay for their continuing survival, but it was no use. Even after his parents' death, Mordred remained a mercenary for many years and eventually met his best friend, a crusading priest named Hieronymus. Towering gothic spires and cryptic whispers began to invade Mordred's dreams, urging him to seek the city of Yharnam. Hoping for answers, he and Hieronymus would travel there, eventually being hired by Byrgenwerth College, where they would work as some of the first hunters alongside Gehrman and Lady Maria to protect its scholars on subterranean expeditions. Mordred is intensely and unquestioningly loyal to Gehrman, typically placing his desires above his own regardless of whether or not it places himself in extreme danger (do with that information what you will). He is deeply troubled by his past experiences and suffers from otherworldly night terrors, though he has learned how to mask it effectively behind a 'scary dog' façade.
