Deeper Bloom: Chapter 4

Mutation Updates Part One: Stellan and Sam

Adjusting to life in Sandal Sole has had varying degrees of difficulty amongst the other land-dwellers and myself.

Stellan Patricks: Stellan Patricks is slowly but surely being transformed into what can only be described as some sort of meta-human. Caught halfway between man and God, science and magic.

Professor Patricks’ height has drastically increased, being 7'3" now, and, unfortunately, he is now partially unrecognizable. Stellan’s skin has become a rough hide similar to that of a rhino or elephant. The main distinctions from normal animal hide are twofold: one, being that the hue of the skin is most definitely pink. A muted mauve. The other distinction is that all across his body, in a seemingly random yet evenly displaced fashion, are silver dollar sized mounds with large craters in them. They have quickly been identified as barnacles. The same type that Seniorem prophetispinus grows during molting. It is due to this that professor Patricks’ is thought to be infected with the very fungus he helped discover. His entire appearance is that of a colossal, bipedal starfish.

We have used Stellan’s mutations to learn more about both the fungal and the godhood indoctrination process.

Needless to say he is not the only one experiencing mutations.

Samuel S Levi: Sam has not been spoken of much here. Samuel is the youngest of the group and is, in fact, only 17. Sam’s focus is marine wildlife aid. He’s like a vet for the mutated sea creatures and has been a huge help to the Sandal Sole doctors in exchanging information as the other survivors and myself transform.

Sam, unlike Stellan, has experienced no pain during his mutation. Instead, his pain quickly disappeared as his body jaundiced. Now, like Stellan, Sam is growing the strange barnacles and fissures all over the course of his body. This all but confirms that Samuel was infected with Samboforma deusglomerforum. The next side effects were worrying, but quickly became manageable. Samuel began nervously laughing and wheezing like the lab rats that were exposed to Samboforma deusglomerforum, but quickly learned to manage it like stifling a cough. Sam can now squeeze through small areas and stretch his body into slightly impossible shapes. His skills are much more akin to a contortionist than Mister Fantastic.

Chad and I are going through mutations as well, however there is still quite a bit to unpack and I will separate them into another post.

Now is time for rebellion against forces that have long since plagued mankind. Above is the flag for my newly formed resistance against the apocalyptic plans of Sheldon Jadriel Plutarch and his infected army of human/animal hybrids. He is going by another name now, Father Nu of the Plankton.

As of now Agent Gator is confirmed to be hosting an ancient Egyptian God. We think more extraterrestrial Fungi mutated Agent Gator and his team, and turned em to Godkillers. There is some sort of fucker pulling the strings. It’s like insect hive mind. The man behind the curtain. There’s just one name their calling him, “Father Nu of Plankton”, but his real name is Sheldon Jadriel Plutarch. He is the man trying to bring the apocalypse, and also the embodiment of Nu, the Egyptian River Death God.

Agent Gator, now embodying Sobek, has been posting disturbing cryptic messages again.

Kraig, a student of mine is a good code breaker, and I sold him an oz. of oregano in a baggy to have him unscramble it a bit.

These are the 5 most likely shifts, but I still have no flippin clue what this fuckin means. Mohesh and Bloomy could help but they’re out runnin errands. If anyone can figure out what this means, it’d be a big help.

Agent Drake handed Stellan and Me a packet. It contained something I never thought I'd see in person: new photographs og The Barnacle Darling, the research vessel my grandfather and his scientists were on when they vanished in Sandal Atoll. More importantly, the debris and wreckage were covered in two very rare species of fungi.

The first was Samboforma deusglomerforum, a small yellow/brown budding mushroom that looks like a sponge. When tested on lab rats, they began remembering more and more complex mazes, but soon they went blind, and were fully consumed by the fungus. However, the days before their demise they gained amazing abilities, like stretching and compressing their bodies into unique forms. Another notable side effect was the noises and behaviour of the rats in the final stage of their mutation prior to death. They began wheezing and making what could only be described as a "nasally laugh". The students and researchers all joked that we'd have to work out the issues before they'd be able to use it, because it was far too annoying.

The second fungus was called Seniorem prophetispinus, and, technically, it is a species of starfish that evolved to behave more and more like a parasite, we believe Seniorem prophetispinus to be the oldest living relative of what we know as starfish. When rats were subjected to Seniorem prophetispinus, they grew 300% in both overall size and muscle density. They turned a sickly pink and became violent. They quickly broke out of their cages and attacked SAM-BO personnel. The rats exoskeleton also changed their biology to match that of the mother, or the fungal starfish itself. The terrifying crossbreed between rat and starfish.

We agreed to go see and aid in the research of SAM-BO, and got their and the university's approval to bring a group of 23 students and colleagues to the atoll to aid SAM-BO, which, umbeknownst to me, my grandfather actually helped found.

Agent Drake is an FBBI agent assigned to our research through SAM-BO. The Federal Bureau of Bloomian Investigation is an offshoot of the FBI that separated in the 1970s and was founded to investigate Cryptozoological Archaeology. Any time a coverup happens whether it be extraterrestrial, bigfoot, etc. My student Chad thinks they may have Illuminati connections, but Chad also thought the world was flat so...

Agent Drake kept attempting to flirt with not only me, but all of the female students, and it obviously wasn't Stellan's favorite thing to happen during the trip. He got defensive and told the female students he was trouble. The tension between Agent Drake and Stellan was palpable. It wasn't long after we got to the islands that we felt we were being watched.

I never thought I'd be so thankful to be stranded underwater. But. Like Grandpa Mohesh says... "Sometimes you gotta dive deeper."

Deeper Bloom Chapter 2

Agent Gator Drake pulled up our offices last summer. His dark aviator glasses reflected the sun. It was uncharacteristically hot, and Agent Drake hates being hot. It doesn’t mesh well with the fact that he enjoys top-of-the-line suits and rare alligator skinned boots. The first time I saw the fuck he was wiping his brow from the Florida Heat. I’m a native of Florida, and I can pick out a Californian from a lineup. They all smell like coconut oil and have the whitest teeth you’ve ever seen. Nothin’ wrong wit that per say, but, to me, they all seem fake, materialistic. With Gator, I happened to be right.

A recent study in "Crab Cannibalism" could suggest that Eugene Krabs, at a young age, had eaten other crabs and possibly family members such as siblings who didn't survive long, expiring parents, or grandparents. An "old Krabs' recipe" could be just that. An old Krabs' family member saved for a later date to snack on. Therefore, it could be both. Plankton's chum AND a Krabs' family member basted in some signature sauce. Oh the horror.
