And I breathe

A life without you

I can’t imagine;

Wholesome

Life before you

A dark chasm

With you

A scary cave

Chaos

I’m still navigating

The ore is weakening

I’m shaking

I look deep into the cave

A crack of light submerges,

I win

Crossing the Jordan,

A freedom unseen,

I nurse you

Feed you

Bring you everything you need,

I support you

Hold you,

Bring you into sleep

A life of giving,

A life of selfless gain,

I cherish you

I adore you

My precious little girl,

Never could I want a life

You aren’t in,

Never could I want a life,

Where I don’t see your sweet smile

I burn with desire,

To be

To love

To feel

To experience everything

All that is real;

My heart longs for what I can’t yet see

To all that I want,

And all I can believe,

Therapeutic to relieve

Wasted in ease

Needing to

Breathe

I take a step,

4 steps back,

I laugh at adversity

Hold my head back,

Fight fire with fire

Blood pouring out

I hold the weapon in my hands,

Cold and transpired

Will you believe me?

My suddenness to grow?

My deep longing

Just to know

What does it feel like?

Taste

Smell

To be who you want to be

To have everything

Well?

MUM SCAR

I’m scarred

On the inside

Once a girl

Now woman

My body has changed completely

And so has my soul

I no longer resemble innocence

Or an immature girl

My hips have widened

So have my thighs

My lips are fuller, rounder,

And so is my size

I have taken on more

Learned so much

Gravity has weighed me down

A paperweight touch

I know the insides of a deep chapter

I’ve read it once before,

And now I embark to retrace those pages

To feel those pangs again,

She remembers

The girl I was before,

Breathless and overtaken

Changed forever more.

LUNA

A mysterious light,

Reflecting from the sun,

You came so incredibly fast

I didn’t know where to turn,

I can barely keep my hands above water

Let alone two daughters,

I’m scared beyond belief

At the power of life inside my form,

What will you be like

What will you say?

Will you recognise our love for you

Each and every day?

I had a longing for this passion

For the time such as this;

But I never knew it would come so early

So soon

So quick,

The rocks crash about me

I become the storm

And soon one body will become two -

Not long

I’m restless with anticipation,

Scared with desire

For this precious gift God has given me

Which has set my heart on fire.

DON’T COMPROMISE

the little girl that hid so deep,

is breaking out the shell,

the form that housed her emptiness

no longer has need or will,

for the life inside

burns bright and strong

and the little girl cannot be seen

for long

her knowledge and wisdom bursts at the seems,

and her heart has a fondness of womanly dreams,

her nurturing spirit comes through everyday

the shell has been broken

there’s cracks all the way

a long time ago she decided one thing

not to settle for second best

or anything

that did not soothe her soul

or make her content

if it came against her barriers,

she would not repent

she would not break loose,

she would not say ‘yes’

when she wanted to say ‘no’

she journeyed a far way

many islands were seen,

she remembered herself as the girl in the dream

the one who did not know how to say

‘I don’t agree’

the one who was too small to stand up for her needs,

she went to the girl

in the effortless dream

and consoled her sorrows,

one tear at a time

she told her don’t worry

I am here now,

the woman you become

a little while on,

she smiled as she brushed back her hair from her face

I am glad I have someone here to replace

the weakness I feel in the face of the tide

when everyone is against me

and there’s no where to hide

I hugged the little girl

right there inside

for she needed me to be strong

to prove what is right

never settle or slumber

on that you know is true

believe in yourself

and the rest will follow through.
