There's something so quietly tragic to me about the correspondence the crew found.

The callous way Comfrey and Cadswitch refer to Hutch and Longspot, who don't share their passions. The contrast of how they clearly love the spark they see in their grandchildren, Olethra and Maxwell.

They wrote their kids off as uninspired, but imagine having them as parents. Reaching out to a parent whose eyes only look skyward.

Adventuring skips a generation, indeed.

i don’t think MacLeod got zood switcharood. to me her personality change was not a harsh “one way and then did a 180,” it was a gradual shift that came from a decades long obsession with finding zood and the anger that came from realizing the crew was moving on. along with that, (from my understanding) memories don’t transfer between people that switched, so if comfrey did get switched, it would be much more obvious than “she’s more reckless/irritable/angry etc” it would be “she’s no longer able to perform tasks as well as she used to, and she doesn’t remember anything about us that wasn’t recorded/written down.” also, although our pool of examples is limited to human -> animal switches, it seems that accents follow when switched and comfrey’s hasn’t changed.

The map of zood/zern reminded me a lot of an ouroboros, and i can’t help but wonder if that will come up. the shape of the planets (tube) is giving me wormhole vibes, plus with the mentions of asteroids falling down to zood i wonder if zood/zern is “eating itself” in trying to maintain stable? idk its a pretty big stretch, i just like snakes

more cloudward ho thoughts, i don’t think comfrey’s disappearance was the first time she went to zood, i think it’s just the first time she got stuck there (this could be really obvious and i just missed smth lmao). but she’s been missing for a few months and marya said the straka incident happened years ago. in my opinion, the only way for comfrey to have been able to appear on marya’s ship (with that we know now) is if she came out of the same biangle as straka did (which ik is not the same as the biangle that leads to zood but stick with me).

from what it seems, (i can’t spell either of the biangles full names so stick with my lame descriptions) the first biangle takes things in (to Zood) and to get out you have to go through the Straka biangle (through Zern maybe?).

murdershire (i know it’s spelt sillier but i unfortunately cannot spell and won’t be making the attempt and am too lazy to look up his real name) knows about the biangle enough to get in and out of zood, but not enough to know if comfrey actually found it. i wonder if maybe he knew that the biangle was the way in but not how to calculate where it would be?? maybe
