So, since I was asked to show, Soul War is a really good look at Hal if you ask me, but there’s also so much potential here for BatLantern that I don’t see a lot of shippers talk about so let me add my propaganda.

Yes a lot is just directed at the League as a whole, but it’s still so emotional even without the BatLantern brainrot reading way too much into it.

First of all, I want to thank you for reaching out to me yesterday. It really helped me realize that what I’m going through is just a creative block with BatLantern. As a multishipper, it’s totally normal for me to gravitate toward multiple ships at once, I’ve been creating fanworks since 2007, and it’s always been like that. But, yes! I do believe you might be able to help rekindle my inspiration for BatLantern with comic panels I haven’t seen yet. I genuinely want to learn more from the comics

I enjoy other ships for awhile then come back, I'm not even going to lie I read more superb🦇t fanfics then batlantern so I get you 🏃‍♀️ guilty lmfaooo but hey I think it's totally fine to be stuck or not interested in stuff you once loved. I get blocks as well but I just bug my friends or followers to give me ideas or headcanons if I need to get back into the spirit! (Or I take a break 😁)

I want to get some of my thoughts out about Kon and Tim lack of character progression and aging, why the lack of it bothers me. I genuinely think that they might’ve had ideas on what to do with Tim and Kon as progressed heroes but DC shot themselves in the foot too many times with how they’ve characterised both characters in relation to Batman and Superman.

I saw someone point to the times that Bruce has said that Tim with age and experience would be a better detective than him or generally smarter, saying that this one fact has put Tim in limbo progression-wise, and I agree with this to some extents. We’ve seen with Nightwing how DC wants to prevent Batman’s protégées from overlapping him or giving them equal status, even if they have aspects that they outpace him in e.g. dexterity, communications, leadership. I don’t think DC want to make Tim’s Red Robin or Robin, or any other identities he might take on, progress because then they have to give yet another mentee Batman level status. I think Cassandra also falls into this category, where the potential and story is there but not without maybe diminishing Batman’s image as a superior, if this makes sense.

They could do so much with him, he’s clearly a good guy at heart with so much love and care to give but he occasionally slips into a more morally grey operations when he’s faced with suffering or struggle or doesn’t have someone keeping an eye on him, they could explore this and traumas they overlook more and what kind of hero he’d want or aspires to be. As a result they’ve kept him from aging at the same pace as other members of the bat family and that’s a little bit frustrating, the fact they gave him potential means he’s stuck where he can’t grow into it.

As for Kon-El, so much of his identity has been rooted in being a clone of Clark that I think that has held him back, especially with Jon now also recently becoming Superman. I think that when he reappeared after not existing, that was their opportunity to give him a new identity but they completely missed it. Now they have 3 similarly aged Supers, Jon, Kenan, and Kon, 2 of which are already Superman, or Super-man, status. They would never make Kon another Superman so soon, and I honestly don’t think they should. I personally want Kon to have more of a self identity other than being a Super, keeping him apart of the family is incredibly important but I think he deserves to have more than just that.

I see a lot of people really like Supernova as a fan made identity but because of how popular it is, it’s likely never to happen, DC has a history of avoiding things that are too popular or too predictable among fans even if it’s better writing or a more correct solution. As much as I enjoyed the ‘Superboy: Man of Tomorrow’ comic that came out not too long ago, I felt it mischaracterised him a little bit, some of the bite had left him. I want them to explore the aspects of his personality and his struggle with his identity and suicidal thoughts in ways I feel like they didn’t really resolve before and set him on a new path where he gets to have his own life and make friends outside his responsibility as a superhero, in the punk scene would be incredible cool and would open a lot of great story elements and introduce him to more worldly struggles.

They both lose so much storytelling opportunity that I think solo runs, even short ones, or new crime fighting identities could truly help them explore. And they just deserve to age or progress like everyone else has been.

Was sad cyborg superman and superboy didn’t fight in the movie so I just made my own scene 🤷🏻‍♀️
