hi author!! i’d love to hear your thoughts for questions 3 and 4 for erode.

my personal favorite is a bit obvious, but the summary (and technically, also the note alex gives to jack) has always stuck with me. i’ve probably already written it, but the reason i got around to reading erode. was because i remembered the summary while skimming through fics, and i thought it was a lyric or something. really set the mood for the fic :)

helloooo reader! apologies for taking days to respond to this -- i had to go through and reread erode. to refresh myself. good god, it is long.

for question 3: my favorite line of narration // "Jack glances at the title to see Alex’s cursive handwriting: construct."

for question 4: my favorite line of dialogue // probably alex, drunk on the lawn, saying "the earth, you fucking imbecile."

these might both seem like very average choices but that particular line of narration was a last-minute add for me right before publishing it, and i think it's just the right amount of subtle attention drawn to the fact that that's the cassette alex made that he wasn't willing to share about on ground control. it's the smallest line to let the reader know to pay attention to the theme of this particular mixtape in this exact context, shortly after alex used that specific word in a conversation with jack about relationships. it's subtle but it's crucial :)

as for the dialogue, i just feel like that line captures alex's sass and his passionate moral ground. he makes me laugh, honestly. as if i didn't write him myself.

I’ve had a few ideas lately.

One is Alex gets really jealous of Jack possibly dating Dan and drama ensues.

The other one is a little more detailed. And I want to preface this by saying I do not wish harm or anything bad on any real life person. So what if Alex has an open marriage but basically with just Jack. And a baby is born but Alex has to take care of the baby by himself because the mother is out of the picture. So he asks Jack to be with him and help him raise the baby at the farm. Would Jack say yes? Would he be okay living on the farm? What about the band?

I like stories about when they were younger too but I always wonder what’s happening now.

oooo i love both of these! i feel like another writer (possibly @jackinalex ?) would be able to do the second prompt better justice because i don't consider myself particularly gifted at writing children, but i do love the idea and would LOVE to read it.

the first one definitely has me interested! lowkey could see that happening in real life too... 👀

A Jalex story where they’re happily married and go on a hot air balloon ride as a date. Something goes terribly wrong on the trip and they both get amnesia so they start living two separate lives. Time passes and they accidentally meet and fall in love with each other all over again. They eventually regain they’re memories of their previous lives and live happily ever after realizing they will always find each other.

Hi! Hello! This is exciting! First of all, thank you very much 🥰

Second of all, AH, big responsibility!!!!! God. I have to be honest and say I've only recently started reading it as well. Like, only for just over the past year. So, I feel like everything I'll bring up, you'll know. Still, I wanna shout out some of my favourite ones.

Where Clover Whitens by @jackinalex A classic, the biggest fic currently out there. It's finished now, which is sad, but the whole fic is a rollercoaster.

erode. by @divine-passion Read this one recently, and it consumed me. It's a huge inspiration for what I'm currently working on 👀

Also by @divine-passion is just to seal my fate Another one I think most people know and love. Good writing all around.

Then, @amelancholysunshine started a fic called Love in Real Time which only has two chapters so far, but really intrigued me. Maybe this can be motivation to continue 😉

i love that both erode. and just to seal my fate feature jack as the rational “alex, we actually can’t do this in /my car/“ it’s really cute! especially since alex is the ever mysterious presence in jack’s life. it’s been a little while since i’ve read erode. over again, so i felt the same as jack lol. this guy actually eats and gets tired? he’s not just a psychic hypnotist mind-reading werewolf radio host?

they’ve got such a sweet relationship, and i always love how you write their banter. the running “scripts” joke is my favorite. do you plan on writing more ground control scenes, author? they were super comforting to read in the original fic!

and lastly, this is my annual erode. posting to anyone frequenting this page: if you haven’t read erode. please do!! it’s still my favorite fic ever, even after these few years.

helloooo reader! i am so glad you enjoyed expanded, and saw the parallels between it and just to seal my fate. that was actually a happy accident on my part (especially considering i HIGHLY doubt teenager jack in real life had any qualms about doing anything in cars) but i do find it rather endearing in the character of jack that i've created for both fics.

i do actually have more scenes around ground control! i'm not confident i'll end up publishing them, but it's a possibility. it depends on whether i want to add more small, random excerpts to expanded or not, and i haven't decided yet (though i do have a substantial amount written for erode.) you might see me again in the erode. universe but i don't want to guarantee anything!
