Rest Day

Sometimes it's important to take a day (or two, or ten) to recharge the batteries. This is true for writing, but also for life in general. Sometimes you have to hit pause and simply rest.

I have learned this lesson the hard way. In many ways, I am still learning it. Today I managed to have a relaxing day without the guilt I often feel when I take a breather.

In short, be kind to yourself. Take a break if you need one. Know that what you're working on will still be there when you are ready to return to it.

The Obligatory First Blog

Hello there, tumblr! It's been a while. I am glad to see that you are doing well despite the age of Instagram and Tiktok. Hell, you might be doing well because of those last two, and that's also pretty cool.

For those of you who find yourself on this blog, welcome. I'm DM. I have been writing since I was about ten years old. I have written almost every kind of piece except a screenplay, but my hubby is a screenwriter, so that may well change.

For me, writing is how I make sense of the world. Writing has been my outlet for a long time, and I am finally getting up the courage to send my work out into the world to be published. It is a scary thing, but I am committing to doing it because being an author has been my dream for as long as I have been writing.

So, to my fellow writers and lovers of stories, hello and nice to meet you! I'm glad we have this chance to get acquainted. Go forth and be awesome!
