“Zuko. Azula. My children. Come here.”

They threw Lu Ten a wary look before obeying. Ozai wrapped his arms around both of them as the crowd let out a long aww. Deep anger filled Lu Ten. Ozai finally let go, but kept a hand on each of their shoulders.

“The Kaji family reunited at last.” Ozai smiled at the cameras more before turning his attention to Lu Ten. “Nephew.”

“Uncle.” He responded shortly with no bow.

A petty jab, but one nonetheless.

Ozai narrowed his eyes, but kept the smile up. “My deepest condolences for your father. I truly apologize that I could not attend the funeral.”

Lu Ten tightened his fists. “Think nothing of it. I know you were… otherwise occupied.”

The crowd laughed. Lu Ten felt proud of himself until he saw the siblings wincing slightly as Ozai gripped harder. Fear quickly replaced his pride.

“Uncle-“

“Nephew, thank you for watching over the children in my stead.”

Lu Ten straighten up. “It was my greatest honor.” He looked directly at the siblings. “And joy.”

Zuko and Azula glanced at him with watery eyes.

Lu Ten meets the twins for the first time. Neither are amused.

Me: I want to edit a fic tonight!

A whisper in the wind: You have a rough draft due tonight.

Me: What?

The wind: Your rough draft. It's due tonight.

Katara: Are you...wearing my clothes?

Zuko: No. I'm wearing my clothes which you stole.

AU - Azula and Zuko are born part dragon and twins. Azulon decides this is a mark of shame and orders them removed. Ursa and Ozai, desperate to keep their children safe, make a deal with the spirits for them to be sent somewhere safe. There is a rule though: Ursa and Ozai can't know where their kids are sent. Thus, they never know their kids are growing up as assumed orphans in the South Pole.

Since I’m reading the amazing Dragon!Azula AU story Skin & Scales by the wonderful @bellatrixobsessed1 a thought overcame me. So, we know that Fang, the Dragon of Roku could communicate with his whiskers and set images in to peoples heads when touched by one (iirc) and well I can totally see Azula communicating like that when she’s to lazy to speak or give people trippy/gory visions if she feels like it. 🐉

AU - Azula is the daughter of a dragon spirit but, as a baby, accidentally left the Spirit World and fell to the human world, turning her human. She was found by a servant in the palace and taken in where Ozai decided to raise her after a Fire Sage noticed her power.

Dragon AU where Azula turns into a dragon for the first time and panics. Thinking she's a monster, Azula runs off but Ursa finds her hiding behind an old lighthouse. Azula tells Ursa to go away but Ursa doesn't and sits with her until Azula calms down enough to turn back human.

Ursa then tells Azula about her great grandfather Roku, the original dragon shifter.

As punishment for hunting down dragons to near extinction, the spirits curse Sozin's female descendants to transform into dragons. A hundred years later, the first Fire Princess is born. Firelord Ozai hides her in a remote castle and hired guards to protect her from hunters. Over time, guards go missing due to Azula not being able to control her powers. People are catching on and fewer volunteer. Low on options and desperate to keep the secret Ozai hires someone expendable. Master Piandao’s newest student from the Southern Water Tribe.
