Cookie Clicker turns 10 today! Having outlived our enemies, let us celebrate with a fresh batch of announcements!
🍪First of all, Cookie Clicker is 40% off on Steam this week! The perfect gift for your loved and/or hated ones! (the web version is still free forever but you don't get Steam achievements or music by C418!)
🍪Secondly! The mobile version has been lagging behind the browser game for years and is in dire need of an update. I've been dedicating most of my time recently to bringing its content up to par! Here's a progress report:
Compared to the current version, this update adds back 284 upgrades and 179 achievements from the web game, which leaves 83 upgrades and 94 achievements still unimplemented plus a good amount of heavenly upgrades. I am determined to close that gap!
Seasons and the pet dragon are currently partially implemented. These are complicated, compound features with side-effects in all kinds of places so once the update gets an alpha release I'll likely be needing everyone's help to hunt for bugs and oversights. I'm being as thorough as possible but there's no way I didn't forget some obscure interplay somewhere!
I'm also updating the UI! Cookie Clicker's interface makes heavy use of woodwork, which is largely absent from the mobile version; I've been aiming to bring it back. Rather than recycling desktop assets, I'm looking to push the game's visual identity towards less "plain wooden boards" and more "victorian biscuit shop" (something I'd have liked to go for when I first made the game but didn't quite know how yet). Here's some early screenshots!

I'm using Blender for the new assets, I might make a more in-depth post about my process in the future. Please note that these are experimental and I'm still fiddling with the look! Once I'm happy with it I'll ideally be giving the desktop game a similar makeover.
This update will hopefully come out later this year and will likely involve multiple rounds of alpha. Once stable, future updates will focus on adding sugar lumps and as many of the minigames as possible.
🍪Thirdly: the Makeship grandma plushie is real and we're doing a giveaway! Please read this twitter post to enter. Note that if the launch campaign succeeds we've got other plushies in mind! Maybe a wrinkler?

🍪Fourthly - there was going to be a really cool announcement here but I've been informed I'm not yet at liberty to discuss it. It's sooooo cool tho trust me. things happening. u gotta take my word for it. tune in next time
🍪Lastly:

Everytime I see posts like this I get filled with such profound sadness
Cause you know who has the same brainrot as you? The same unhinged feelings as you after you've read the fic? The person who always wants to scream about the fic with you?
THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT
I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it's been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible
Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together

it's poor form to air your petty grievances with someone when it comes out they did something actually bad. save that for companies, like when you learn duolingo removed kanji from its beginner's japanese courses as part of their collab with crunchy roll

one thing you won't know until you experience it for yourself when you create art out of love is how it feels when people receive it with love. when you post a doodle and someone keeps it as their lockscreen, or when you write a story and someone tells you they were thinking about it all day, or when you post a poem and someone shares it with a touching caption. doesn't matter if it was objectively good or not. matters that someone spent time with it, that someone really, really liked it, and you made it. this kind of interaction, i think, it can really sustain you for weeks. it can sustain you through a lot of terrible things. its confirmation that you exist, and that (however briefly) your existence was appreciated by someone else through your art.

WARNING: This game contains plenty of death and blood, and deals with heavy subject matter. Discretion is strongly advised. (Content warnings can be found on my game page.)
Your Turn To Die -Death Game By Majority- (Kimi ga Shine) is a negotiation/horror/adventure game by Nankidai made in RPG Maker MV, now available (though still incomplete) on Steam. (And yes, I’m the official English translator for it.)
Sara Chidouin returns home from school late one night to discover that something’s gone terribly wrong. When she comes to, she finds herself, her friend Joe, and 9 other people trapped in a mysterious place. Placed in life-and-death situations, they must come to an agreement about what they should do - and who should die.
As far as the main story goes, this release is largely the same as what was out already, aside from adding achievements; however, once completed, the final story part will come to Steam first.
Exclusive to this version is free DLC in the form of an external artbook with character profiles, and currently three “mini-episodes” focusing on various characters. (Nankidai would like to add more mini-episodes in the future.)

“Why is there a big gap in your resume?”
Resume gaps, like thigh gaps, are a fake problem.
People take a break from the workforce for any number of legitimate reasons. This is evidenced by the fact that we get asked about the problem of resume gaps all. the. tiiiiime.
Sometimes you get sick or injured and need to leave work for a while to recover your health (and yes, mental health absolutely counts). Or sometimes you become a parent and need to leave work to raise your adorable offspring. Sometimes you need to focus full-time on your education in order to advance your career. Or sometimes there’s a tragedy in your family and you need to leave work to take care of the people who rely on you. Sometimes you want to travel the world to learn and grow as a person. Sometimes you start a business!
And sometimes you just lose your job and you can’t find another one right away and it sucks.
The right answer
All of the above are legitimate explanations for a resume gap. But for how to answer the actual question, we turned to our sister-from-another-sister-because-this-is-a-matriarchy-and-it’s-sisters-all-the-way-down, Tori Dunlap of Her First $100K. Tori has this—and literally all the shitty interview questions—on lock thanks to The Interview Overview: The Ultimate Guide to Job Interviews, which you can buy on her site. She says,
If you get asked about gaps in your resume, focus on what you learned, not what went wrong. Reframe quitting a job as looking for a better-suited new opportunity, or talk about the lessons and growth you experienced if you were fired. If you took time off to raise kids or take care of family, you’re not legally required to tell them this—but if you feel comfortable, talk about what you learned, and how important your family is to you (and how that makes you a more emotionally intelligent, caring employee). Showcase why the gap was necessary and makes you a better, more well-rounded employee.
Reframing is one of the most important weapons you can add to your job search arsenal. It’s a way to take control of your own narrative and guide your audience to the information you want them to know.
They may see a resume gap at first, but by reframing, you can gently lead them to admire you for your nine-month period of professional development during which you learned about cooperative problem-solving by living on a wombat sanctuary in Bali.
