So my number one fix-it came true. Great! As a follow-up:
Go after Barry’s heart. The Flash is too OP to not be able to catch non-speedsters. Hell, he’s too OP to not be able to catch speedsters. He’s proven this time and time again. So ditch the physical challenges and give Barry a villain that targets his heart. His values. The Flash works best when the villains’ motivations are rooted in values that challenge/undermine Barry’s. And please for the love of all that is good and pure and right in this world DO NOT -- I REPEAT DO NOT -- make Caitlyn/Frost/FrostZombie the main villain or the side villain. Please do not make the season a giant, prolonged redemption arc.
Gut the team. Barry only needs Chester at this point. No he doesn’t need Caitlyn. No he doesn’t Cecile. No Allegra. Again, Barry/the Flash is too OP to need Allegra and Ms. “I have a baby no one’s seen in seasons” Horton in the field. Honestly, how will they ever justify Cecile’s presence without Joe???
Bring back Westallen. The real WestAllen. Not this watered-down bullshit we’ve had for like five seasons now. Bring back the kiss me slowly epic smooches; the playful banter; the flirty glances. Now that this Iris time sickness foolishness is resolved, bring back “touch is [our] love language” WestAllen. I’m not asking for then to be all over each other, but would it kill the writers to make them more affectionate? To give them room to talk to each other? If the villain is going to go after Barry’s heart, then he’ll need his lightning rod to keep him grounded. On a similar note (and I know the odds of this are slim as it’s all based on actors’ availability) but I would be over the moon for some Flash!Fam shenanigans with Nora and Bart. The four of them have such amazing chemistry together, I would love an entire episode just dedicated to them doing ordinary and extraordinary things. Hell, I’d take an hour of Bart driving his parents and sister crazy. I live for Bart’s chaotic neutral energy.
That being said, I do NOT want a pregnancy arc. Please don’t @ WestAllen stans. I’m just not a fan of a woman’s entire plot being reduced to childbearing. Iris deserves better. Candice deserves better. It’s the final season. Give her a meaningful, substantial plot that allows her to be present and engaging and dynamic.
It’s the final season. Can we please get appearances by Cisco and Wally?? Please? Please? I’d love to see Jesse too.

Does a Haircut Maketh a Man?
Spoilers for Episode 5 of The Time Traveler’s Wife. Read at your own discretion.
Clare suddenly falling all over 28-year-old Henry because he looks more like 40-year-old Henry bothers me.
For episodes now, 40-year-old Henry has been begging asking Clare and others to just be kind; to have mercy on younger him -- and I get it, younger Henry is prick with a raging case of foot-in-mouth-syndrome -- but Clare isn’t particularly kind or merciful. I don’t blame her. She’s right. She fell in love with older Henry and young Henry seems so immature by comparison. But my goodness, it seems like she’s not even trying.
That is until The Haircut™.
Okay. I’d be lying if the haircut didn’t take 28-year-old Henry from sleaze-ball to stud. The wig was horrible (we know it, the stylist knows it, hell the wig probably knows it) and may it disappear into the ether never to return. Still, there’s something intrinsically wrong (to me, at least) about Henry changing himself to fit her ideal because the changing seems so one sided. People change in relationships; we grow into each other and for each other. But it seems like all of the demands for growth are coming from Clare for Henry.
I know Clare “apologized” to Henry for wanting him to be someone he’s not yet, but the apology feels perfunctory because Henry immediately follows it up with a declaration that he can be somebody else (presumably future him). I so badly wanted her to tell him, “No, just be you. I love you.”

Of Mental Health & Superboys
It’s really telling how some Jordan fans are so quick to use Jordan’s mental health struggles as an excuse for his behavior and in that same breath downplay or outright dismiss Jonathan’s own (very obvious) mental health struggles because of the show’s initial, shallow portrayal of the twins (Jordan as the anxious outsider; Jon as the cool, popular jock). I’m willing to bet cold hard cash that if the roles were reversed and Jonathan was the golden child getting flying lessons and Jordan was left at home to sulk and play Mortal Kombat alone, those very same fans would be up in arms.
It’s not all of the Jordan fans, just a fervent and very vocal minority.

A Blue Hour Full Moon : Nature photographers and other fans of planet Earth always look forward to the blue hour. That’s the transition in twilight, just before sunrise or after sunset, when the Sun is below the horizon but land and sky are still suffused with a beautiful blue light. After sunset on August 21, this blue hour snapshot captured the nearly full Moon as it rose opposite the Sun, above the rugged Italian Alps from Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Sharing bluish hues with the sky, the rocky pyramid of Monte Antelao, also known as the King of the Dolomites, is the region’s prominent alpine peak. The moonlight is yellow, but even so this full Moon was known to some as a seasonal Blue Moon. That’s because by one definition the third full Moon of a season with four full moons in it is called a Blue Moon. Recognizing a season as the time between a solstice and an equinox, this season’s fourth full Moon will be rising in the blue hour of September 20, just before September’s equinox. via NASA

Thank you for taking all of my thoughts and putting them into words.
Jordan-stans are really exposing themselves with how much they disregard Jonathan’s mental health. Not all mental illnesses are visible or outwardly destructive like Jordan’s outbursts. Jonathan is clearly a “suffer in silence and slowly destroy myself as long as the people I care about are okay” type but no, of course, he’s “fine”. He’s the “neurotypical” one. The blatant mistreatment of Jon makes it hard to watch this show.
“Maybe Jonathan could become the Jimmy Olsen to Jordan’s Superman”
Or maybe… bear with me because this is gonna sound a little crazy… WE COULD LET JON KENT BE JON KENT! Not sure if you’ve heard of him, Jon Kent canonical son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, former Superboy and the current holder of the “Superman” mantle, that Jon Kent.
“Both Jon and Jordan having powers would ruin the show.
Why on Earth would this “ruin the show?” And even if we were to accept the premise that too many people with abilities would upset the so-called “balance”, have you been watching the show lately? One word: X-K.
What y’all are really saying a son of Superman can’t have powers but y’all are okay with a gang of redneck drug dealers huffing McGuffin dust and running around with heat vision and super-strength? Okay.
“You’re just upset that the neurotypical jock isn’t the hero”
This is probably the one that pisses me off the most because it’s based on a bunch of incorrect assumptions. Firstly, when was the last time a “jock” got to be the hero on a superhero show? That shit almost never happens. The jock is usually the bully that the nerd protagonist gets to take revenge on with their newfound powers. Watch any teen superhero movie/show made in the last 10 years, I dare you. Secondly, Jonathan Kent isn’t just some rando jock™. The guy plays a sport, other than that he is basically the living anti-thesis to the classic d**chebag jock trope. Lastly, I despise this assumption that Jonathan doesn’t struggle with mental health. The dude is so emotionally repressed and is hinted to have depression but nah let’s just ignore that because he’s good at putting on a happy face. He’s basically the self-destructive version of Jordan right now but because he doesn’t “fit the mold” of what someone with depression looks like, y’all are ok with slapping an ok label on him?
Since we’re just assuming people’s feelings now, maybe the real reason y’all don’t want Jon to have powers is you’re afraid that he’ll overshadow your precious self-insert OC?
I could go on but I’ll spare everyone another paragraph of this angry rant.

I agree re: Flash, especially about the team. They should have allowed Barry to outgrow having a whole team and gutted it years ago. I have no idea why they've insisted on holding onto it for so long.
It's the CW curse of building bloated casts that have no substance. All of the Arrowverse shows suffered from this.

The Flash Fix-It: Season 9
In light of all the major changes happening to the Flash and the CW, here’s my suggestion box wishlist fix-it for the upcoming final season.
A shorter season -- no more than 10 episodes. Give Barry moral dilemmas to solve. We get it. He’s “leveled up” (It’s a travesty how Ciara didn’t make a dime off of the number of times they said this horrible phrase) so give him less physical challenges and more emotional/mental challenges. Gustin is a brilliant actor and drama is where he truly shines; in those moments when he’s getting ping-ponged between his head and his heart. Give him a villain that breaks his spirit. Give him a villain that challenges his values. Zoom, Season 1 Reverse Flash and Bloodwork were great villains because they tried (and nearly succeeded) at breaking Barry’s heart. Hell, Zoom literally broke his back. Bloodwork threw Nora/fatherhood in his face. Reverse Flash killed killed his mom, turned him into the Flash, trained him and then betrayed him. The Flash works best when the villains’ motivations are rooted in values that challenge/undermine Barry’s.
Gut the team. When it was just Barry, Cisco, Caitlin and Wells that made sense. Every other combination since them has been trash (Chester and Sue are awesome though). No more Allegra. No more Cecile. No more scout meetings in the cortex; no more hallway talks after the scout meetings in the cortex. No more randoms going “into the field” with Barry. He’s the Flash. He’s “leveled up”. He got this yo. At this point in Barry’s development, the “team” really should just be Barry, Chester on comms and a medic. Hell, at this point, I’d love to watch an entire season of Barry lone wolfing it. No Star Labs. No equipment. Just the suit and a need for speed.
About that medic...it shouldn’t be Caitlin. I said what I said. Frost was a more interesting character than Caitlin ever was. Honestly, I’d be willing to bet money that Panabaker probably enjoyed playing Frost more. I wish Frost was the one with the medical background so we could ditch Caitlin and keep Frost as the medic. Now that Frost is gone, it’s time for Caitlin to go too. The few times that Barry needs a medic, I’m sure Argus can spare one.
Cecile has got to go. Her and her “oh, my god I’m sensing that you feel embarrassed at the fact that I keep invading your privacy with my powers. Tell me (and everyone in this room) more”. Doesn’t she have a child to rear? A career to foster? Please, go do that especially since it doesn’t seem likely Joe will put a ring on it. Now that Jesse L. Martin’s role has been reduced to recurring, write Cecile off. Please.
I hope the Iris time sickness foolish resolves with Iris getting stuck in a future century permanently. WestAllen fans hear me out. I too love WestAllen. I think Gustin and Patton had amazing chemistry. Read: had. (The way this man used to kiss her I swear --!) Any who, whatever chemistry they had is gone. The show has gone out of its way to deliberately nuke it by constantly separating them for reasons I will not even begin to speculate on. They really turned them from “touch is our love language” to “roommates who occasionally see each other when schedules line up”. The spark they had in earlier seasons is gone. It’s a damn shame too because they’ve utterly wasted Patton. She’s a good actress and she was given nothing to work with for years. In the pilot, she mentions working on a dissertation. Where did it go??? Where? Then they absolutely bungled her C3 plot by shoehorning Allegra and her cub reporter side plots. It’s infuriating. At this point, just make it that Iris is stuck in a future century and Barry has to use the speedforce to visit her. This way, she’s not dead, but she’s not present, which if we’re being honest isn’t all that different to what they’ve been doing with her for the past 8 seasons. And they can still have their future kids, etc. (Be free Candice Patton, be free and prosper!)

I can’t root for Jordan anymore
I think this episode finally made me admit that I just don’t care for the character anymore. Every bit of growth and maturity he has had since season 1 basically evaporated in a single episode. He acts awful to the family who have loved and accepted him his entire life in order to seek the approval of someone who betrayed, belittled and is basically not interested in him. I don’t care if it’s “realistic teenage” behavior. I don’t want or need CW’s crappy adaptation of Romeo & Juliet on a show about the Super-family.
