💁🏿‍♂️The Flash has SO much more mythos to explore beside Flashpoint. Plenty of speedsters & allies, plenty of Rogues & other antagonists.

Whether y'all know / respect them or not, they are there.

Their family

-could easily sustain multiple simultaneous, continuing comic titles (even if its just a main Flash title & a slice-of-life, like a speedster version of Batman: Wayne Family Adventures)

-should have multiple seasons of an animated TV show

-should have a movie trilogy by now 🤷🏿‍♂️

Like...give them more! Around the world, across time, throughout the multiverse! It'd surely mean coming up w/ new Rogues & other threats beside the ones we're familiar with, but that works for me; they (and we, their fans) deserve more! 🤩

The timeline had seemed fine. Completely fine. Better than fine, actually. He and Iris were married - a year earlier - and they had Nora. Things were fine.

But it had only taken one off-hand comment to completely shatter that.

"Barry?" Iris was worried and Barry realized he'd been quiet for too long but his mind was still reeling.

"I- what do you mean 'who's Cisco'?"

Iris tilted her head, concern etching deeper into her features as she stepped closer, rubbing his arm comfortingly. "I'm sorry, I don't know anyone named Cisco."

Barry felt the air around him grow heavy, suffocating - he suddenly couldn't breathe. "Iris, he's...he's our friend. He's like family. He...he worked with us at S.T.A.R. Labs. He made the Flash suit and the cold gun and- you have to remember him." Barry's voice broke, his eyes burning as he moved restlessly.

Iris tried to calm him, her touch gentle but firm. "Barry, breathe-"

Barry was on his way to S.T.A.R. Labs before Iris could say anything else. Cisco had to be there, maybe Iris just...hadn't met him somehow.

Caitlin whirled around, looking startled as Barry zipped into the room faster than he ever had behind her. He didn't give her a chance to say anything.

"Where's Cisco?" Barry demanded and Caitlin furrowed her brow.

"Who?" She asked, jumping slightly when Barry yelled in response.

"Cisco!"

Barry searched through the lab from top to bottom and bottom to top again in seconds, streaks of yellow lightning illuminating the halls brightly until Barry skidded to a stop in the Cortex, his chest heaving, looking frantic. There was no sign of Cisco.

"Barry? Everything okay?" Ronnie's voice preceded his appearance in the doorway. He and Caitlin exchanged a worried glance as Barry tried to process that too.

"Ronnie, where's Cisco? Cisco Ramon. He works here, he worked with you on the particle accelerator, he's our friend. Please tell me you know who he is." Barry asked desperately.

Ronnie shook his head, his expression a mixture of confusion and concern, but it was Caitlin who spoke.

"Come here, you need to sit down. You look like you're going to faint," she said, gently but firmly pulling him by the arm to the nearest chair.

Barry sank into the chair, his mind racing as he buried his head in his hands. The room felt like it was closing in, the familiar walls of S.T.A.R. Labs suddenly alien. This was all wrong. Cisco was gone and it was his fault.

How I feel about this character

I think she's awesome. We really get to watch her grow over the course of the series and watching her truly discover herself as a leader and hero in her own right is really wonderful to see. While she occasionally has powers here and there, she's a great example of a badass normal and proves that a powered character (Barry) doesn't need a powered love interest in order to be in love with someone who is every bit their equal. Iris is no damsel in distress; she's going to try to find a way to save herself every time.

That said, I wish her agency was more consistently her own. Her plots often get co-opted to serve other character's plots (most often Barry, but it's also been done for Allegra which was just weird...) which puts a lot of her achievements in the background or sub-plot area instead of centering them the way she deserves.

(The fact that she goes from student to journalist with no graduation in between is really frustrating. She's Barry's best friend and yet he's never shown as being super excited to attend her graduation and celebrate her achievement of a Masters degree??? S1, asleep at the wheel right there...)

Barry again, I kind of prefer the platonic ship for them because of how their dynamic in S1/S2 is (though obviously the romantic ship grew on me...)

My unpopular opinion about this character

The show does a terrible job of establishing Iris' feelings for Barry as romantic in the first several seasons.

In season one especially there is so much of other characters telling her how they think she feels, but every time she establishes what her feelings are for him are... those feelings are platonic. Aside from the cheating kiss that was the worst decision ever made by the show runners (and made kinda creepy given how it's been romanticized by later seasons) and was a heat of the moment thing that happened after yet another character (Linda) was telling Iris 'I think you're in love with him based on your stated as platonic, sibling-like behavior with him'.

Basically every 'shippy' moment I've seen pointed out for the first two seasons fits entirely with Iris' stated platonic feelings and can really only be interpreted as romantic interest if her stated feelings are ignored. (Especially Joe trying to get Iris to say she wouldn't have dated Eddie if she knew Barry liked her; way to take what she was just saying out of context despite the context having literally just been established. >_<) Iris is the one living in her own head, I wish other characters would respect that she knows what her emotions are better than they do.

This essentially leads to the problem where when Iris and Barry get together it feels less like it's happening because Iris is in love with Barry and more because everyone and their time-line reading AI has told her she marries Barry. And since trying to deviate from that got Eddie killed, what choice does she really have? She loves Barry, but is she in love with him? It's painfully unclear for quite some time and the show itself doesn't even acknowledge this problem until (briefly) in S9.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I wish she'd been looped in on Barry being the Flash from the start. Locking her out of the loop 'for her protection' only ever put her in more danger than she'd have been in if she'd been kept aware of what was actually going on.

Premise: Barry Allen needs a new stable home for his meta-powered children, the Tornado Twins, and is offered to rear them in the far-off future of the 31st century by what remains of S.T.A.R. Labs and Cadmus. He's aware, of course, of the last time he attempted to settle in the future, but this is another continuity, so it should be fine. His relative past won't repeat itself, right? His plan this time is to build a team, a league perhaps, and a culture of justice his children may one day inherit. Rond Vidar is the first to join; growing up with his egotistical, manipulative, domineering father, Universo, is reason enough; but he soon finds the will to show the universe who he is. Tom Wayne reluctantly joins the League after he stumbles upon Allen working the same case. Kent Shakespeare (doctor, soldier, protector) joins for humanitarian reasons, seeking to end the spread of Lady Styx; he champions the innocent. Sofie has her own time dilemma reasons to join. Ennis is eager to show what he can do even if the Legion of Super-Heroes deem him unready. Laurel’s human identity has reclaimed her Manhunter body and seeks to fight alongside and earn the trust of legacy bearers such as Shakespeare, Wayne, and Vidar.

Notes: Rather than relaunch Legion of Super-Heroes yet again, why not continue the Justice League 3000 series and find a way to shuffle its continuity into the current Rebirth continuity in Legion of Super-Heroes (2019). The story could serve as a springboard for Legion stories that normally deal with larger interplanetary stakes and politics. The Justice League could focus on Earth/Human/Terran matters. Eventually, a new Batman (Brane) could join the League and any number of other characters, i.e. Earth-Man, a new Hawkman, Princess Xenobia, and etc.
