Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the first time I left the house as Emily. It was to a friends birthday party and I remember the terror that struck me the moment I opened the front door. Fearful that there would be some angry “beauty and the beast” type mob with pitchforks shouting “kill the beast!” at me. But there was no mob. No pitchforks. Only amazing people that welcomed me and loved me for exactly who I am. That day I got to put down huge fears and remembered just how incredibly kind and loving people can be when we give them the chance. I got to go to her party again this year (photo) and show her just how far I’ve come. How far I wouldn’t have come without her love and the love of everyone there.
