The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 13/June/2025

It was a bit of a write-off week this week, unfortunately. Rather deflating after smashing through for so many weeks! But it all started with a boiler breakdown emergency, then a lingering vet issue (which is now resolved and all fine but was a bit scary for a few days!), and then Nai got pretty ill at the end of the week (she is now also slowly recovering!).

So yeah, it was a bit of an intense week!

I’d planned on social media days this week as well as getting through my edits on the chapter I finished. Instead, I gathered up the edits ready from the editor in prep and also printed out the plan for the next chapter and went through it.

As with all the chapters in Book Four, this next chapter is a serious doozy to write, lol! Lots of variation and branching for a specific choice. It was a bit overwhelming to look over what with so much else happening, but I took a breath and started chunking it up into smaller, manageable scenes. That helped a lot!

And now I’m also seriously excited to get writing it, hehe! :D

But I will do the sensible thing and get the edits done first! My plan for next week is edits and social media days. Then I can jump right back into the next chapter, which is quite the set-up chapter for something very dramatic and very intense to come in the one after that…

And after the (wonderfully amazing) response to the Chapter 5 opening snippet on Patreon, I think I’ll be releasing the next two chapters in one go. So that’ll be out later this month! That will be the final section of demo to be released for Book Four :)

its the end of may and I know I said I was confident it'll be out this month but whenever im confident im wrong so

chapter 4 is currently

every scene is written. ive just been rearranging and expanding and working the logistics of the challenge checks so im done but also technically not done. its less perfectionism and more about making sure everything works.

this is the longest ive worked on a chapter and also the most frustrated ive been working on one. I don't like taking long because, like everyone else, I grow impatient.

ive rewritten one 15k word scene about 7 times. ive changed entire dialogue sequences, and have added more branching than I should but ! I tell myself its better to release something im proud of then rush release something I hate and I am proud of chapter 4! It is my favorite chapter (every chapter is my favorite but chapter 4 is actually my favorite chapter).

You guys know I work hard to deliver every time with every release whether its bonus stuff or the demo but sometimes to deliver what I think is something good (in my head) I need more time.

This is William. With an easy smile and eyes that always carry a mischievous spark, he always seems to be flirting with someone.

He has that carefree attitude that can feel uncomfortable to those not used to his loud personality. He says what he thinks, acts without overthinking, and rarely considers the impact his words might have.

He’s a bit obsessed with working out, a way of trying to soften the edges of his low self-esteem.

But he’s a spectacular friend, one of the first to jump in when a problem arises, and the kind who stays when everyone else walks away.

I'm trying a different way of writing stories.

The world of interactive storytelling is quite an experience, but you know what? I didn't expect it to be this fun.

Don't know what will come out of this (if something will come out of this), but I'm having a blast.

Let's get to know Matteo a little better

He’s the first student Griffin meets at the start of Echoes of a Wish, when they begin college.

Matteo tends to smoke when he’s stressed—something he secretly hates, but can’t quite give up.

This month is all about Matteo

I promise he’s not usually as grumpy as he looks in the drawing… but to be fair, he is under a lot of stress in the novel 😂

Loyal to his friends, relentless in everything he's passionate about, and perhaps a bit more stubborn than would be considered healthy.

At first, Matteo had no intention of attending Gilbert University. Not for lack of ability, but because he didn't want to be seen merely as "the best friend of the owner's son". He wanted to stand out on his own, without having to hear the whispers of those who either idolized William's family or criticized them. However, seeing how excited his friend was about the idea of studying together, Matteo couldn't bring himself to say no.

He tends to see the world in black and white, and carries far more weight on his shoulders than he should, trying to make everything fair for everyone.

His addiction clouds his perception, pushing him toward a mostly negative view of reality, fueling his anxiety and self hatred. To cope, Matteo created an alter ego so he could feel like the hero he always wanted to be for those he loves.
