every time i rewatch 5x14/15 i genuinely cannot believe that buddie didn't go canon in the episodes that followed. like what do you mean Eddie reached for Buck in his last moments of consiousness? what do you mean Buck begged Eddie to just breathe and wouldn't let anyone else work on him? what do you mean Eddies only thoughts after being shot were 'is Buck okay? is he hurt?'. what do you mean Buck was shaking and so insanely terrified of what was happening to Eddie and if he would live? what do you mean Buck had to go home and 'have the hardest job of them all' because he doesn't want anyone else telling this to Christopher? what do you mean he cried about Eddie being okay because until he recieved that message there was a pssibility that he (and Chris) would have to figure out how to live in a world without him? what do you mean Buck slept day and night on a couch for weeks so that Chris would stil have a sense of routine while his dad was recovering? Ngl I sometimes have moments when I’m like “maybe we truly are hallucinating buddie” but then I think about “you can have my back any day”, “you two have an adorable son”, “there’s no one I trust more with my son than you”, “wanna go for the title?”, the live stream comments on how they should be a couple, the lawsuit era, the will, the domesticity, the couch, 3 minutes and 17 seconds, the way they look at each other, the parallels between them and canon couples, and all the other stuff that I can’t think of rn cause there’s literally so many. i hate how, when something happens between two people of the same gender, people will assume its friendly/platonic but if it was two people of the opposite sex it would be considered romantic.

like if you've seen The Marvels you'll get this, Val kissed Carol on the cheek and people are discussing if it was platonic or not (personally, they're 100% a couple), but if one of them was a guy it would almost immedietely be considered romantic, like no questions asked.

oh but how absolutely monumental it still is to have all these big and mainstream pieces of queer television right now. remember how excited you got when there was one character who said he was bi or gay only then to be killed or written off or treated horribly by both writers and the public. remember how hard it was to find queer shows and movie that didn’t make you hate yourself or so angry or scared. remember how seen you felt about that one queer kiss or that one coming out or within one particular character! yes, devastating sad queer pieces are important. fucked up queer stories need to be told. queer period pieces and dramas with unhappy endings too. but queer happiness, queer young and old love, queer cringe, queer joy- we deserve that too.
