Although it is true that the clothing it’s self has no gender they can and do carry certain stereotypical connotations based on the gender that most commonly wears ie. woman typically wear dresses and men typically wear shirts and pants because of this wearing clothes that don’t align with your gender identity especially for trans people can potentially cause dysphoria (not always I personally don’t get dysphoria from presenting masc although I’d rather not but that’s just me) and wearing clothes that do align with your gender identity can cause euphoria. It wasn’t until we started riding horses that men actually began to wear pants and there are a lot of historical photos/paintings that portray men wearing extravagant gowns and even back in the early days of America circa 1780 something young children regardless of gender were seen wearing dresses as they were easier to make (I remember seeing a picture of a young FDR in a dress once but can’t find it at the moment) so in reality clothes never had gender connotations until very recently in history but because of this and there typically associated gender stereotypes clothing can (but always) cause gender dysphoria/euphoria.

the statements "clothes don't have gender" and "clothes can and do invoke gender dysphoria and euphoria for many people" can and should coexist.
