It’d be pretty awkward if one day you have a bestseller being translated into multiple languages and a character name has the same meaning of something odd. Before you finalize your characters name try putting it through google translate using the detect language feature.

𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. — Sometimes names just aren’t unique enough or are overused. You can solve this by changing the spelling of common names or adding/removing letters! For example, Macy can be turned into a more unique Maesi by switching up the spelling. This is the simplest way to come up with names and the most creative. Remember to not over complicate names though!

𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. — Most of the time your character has a specific object, place, or creature that you associate them with. You can use this to your advantage when naming your characters! If you associate your OC to the moon you may name them after your favorite moon! Or you can take it a step farther. Using google translate to your advantage you can take your characters culture or background and translate your association to them into a language that makes sense, giving you a wider range of possibilities.

𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞. — black hair, fiery black eyes that hold piercing gazes, long legs, smug smiles, playful smirks. bold, blunt, honest, good intentions but unknowning of how to properly get things across. a rebel, the daredevil of the group.

𝐚𝐢𝐫. — short hair that flows in the wind, large eyes that are never in focus instead in the clouds, slender fingers, cooler skin, thick eyelashes that flutter like butterfly wings. usually peaceful but could cause a windstorm when agitated. a singer. light on their feet, silent, perfect as a spy or thief.
