he had so much potential

i used to be obsessed with nexo knights when I was younger and it is still one of my favorite nostalgia shows today.

one of my favorite characters that I was obsessed with for some reason was Jousting. and looking back on it now, even tho he is just a minor character who adds basically nothing to the show, I wish he had so much more depth because there ARE glimpses of his true character in the show. he has more interactions, lines, and traits revealed than any other Tighty Knighty.

so I'm going to start with the information I have gathered about his character and explain all of it: the first thing major to his character is that he's a pretentious asshole, but not in the same way that Lance is. he's a pretentious asshole who is more down to Earth.

he's shown this in many ways; mostly through his sassiness. he is incredibly sassy. he constantly talks back to Tightwad, e.g: "Uhhh, falling..?", "I go no feelin' in my leg" (I think that's what he says?), and my personal favorite: "Is this what filthy rich people do?"

he doesn't HATE Tightwad, he hates the things that he does. this is proven in season 4, March of The Colussus, where he says "J-Tight (tightwad) owns lots of property around the land, yo, he doesn't want to see it all trashed!"

he KNOWS Tightwad isn't necessarily a good person, and he hates the things that he does, but he still cares. his pretentiousness is also expressed shown in his first appearance in season 2 where he obviously enjoys the attention of the crowd more than focusing on the task at hand. however, he develops from this overtime; such as when he and his crew are fighting valiantly against monsters WHILE playing their theme song. and he's not distracted by the song or focusing on dancing, HE'S FOCUSED ON BEING A KNIGHT, while at the same time being himself. that's fierce.

i read some about the concepts for season 5 and I didn't see any mention of the Tighty Knighties. (correct me if I'm wrong on this) and that makes me lowkey sad. i know its just a kids show and probably has no real meaning but I feel like they wanted to use Jousting for something more since we got to see much more of him than any other Tighty Knighty. and I wish he did get more, because that would have been cool.

we saw subtle development in him and we won't ever again, maybe. maybe if nexo knights gets restarted or remade.

the bald and the beautiful

i have wanted to shave my head for years, since i was a little kid. I have never had the confidence to do it until now. the reason for this is because I am finally overcoming my fear of societal standards, gender norms, and the male gaze. being biologically female, I have struggled with expressing myself through aspects that are considered "for boys". I have noticed that there is a huge stigma around women who shave their heads, and it is connected to sexism and anti-feminism. this is a rant about the bullshit standards that I and countless other AFAB people have had to go through. there is a tremendous lack of support and lack of acceptance of the beauty of women with bald heads. i know there are very good more modern examples of this, such as Doja Cat, who I will be focusing on, but one woman I think is incredibly important to mention initially is the case around Britney Spears. in February of 2007, Britney attempted to see her sons during divorce. paparazzi followed her like hungry hippos and she became overwhelmed. she walked into a hair salon and buzzed her hair off. the media portrayed her as a crazy lady who had a manic episode and acted on emotional impulse. while the impulsive action may be true, and the state of her mental health was in fact damaged, this is not an inherently "insane" thing to accomplish. divorces are incredibly difficult and emotionally distressing for anyone to go through, especially when there are children involved. it should not be surprising when someone, amid divorce, does something impulsively. I remember my birth parents divorcing and how much that affected me and my family, and that is just one kid going through something in a small, rural area. Britney Spears was publicly humiliated, chased by paparazzi, had hundreds of flashing lights in her face, and two children. I cannot even begin to imagine how incredibly stressed and upset she must have been.

this is another example of society having a lust for women failure. they twisted a grieving mother into an insane woman. what is most heartbreaking to me about Britney's story is that her own mother refused to speak with her after this. out of embarrassment. her daughter was "ugly" and "crazy". she wanted control over something for once in her life. "Shaving my head was my way of saying to the world, 'fuck you'," august 4, 2022, Doja Cat showed off her bald beauty on Instagram live. she also shaved her eyebrows.  👑 

she faced a ton of backlash for this. why? because society hates women's expression, especially when it doesn't follow the norm.

women have always been judged like crazy for going outside of the norm.

Doja also said in her Instagram live that she never liked having hair, maintaining it, making sure it looked good, and that it also made her constantly worry about how she looked. I resonate with this statement because I am also constantly concerned about how my hair looks and keeping up with its maintenance.

women who shave their heads face so much backlash just for expressing themselves and doing something that makes them confident. as soon as a woman is confident, she is ugly, crazy, ill, or queer. this all stems from gender norms and the male-gaze, to depict how a woman should behave and how she should maintain herself. with this knowledge, I will be shaving my head.
