3. The one on Valentine's Day
It was amazing how three weeks went by so quickly. One day they were heading back to Hogwarts and the next they were either bragging or despairing about not having a romantic partner.
The damn - or blessed - Valentine's Day had finally arrived.
Not only the Gryffindor tower but the ENTIRE castle was in chaos! Flower explosions here, little paper planes flying elsewhere as if it weren't an educational institution on a school day. Lilly Evans herself barely knew where to put her face after receiving her third bouquet of flowers that day.
- Flowers for another flower! - James declaimed whenever he appeared with another bouquet, stealing a breathtaking kiss from both his girlfriend and others.
The teachers had already reached a point where they were not even trying to contain the dispersion, only having accepted that it was impossible to compete with the expectation of a meeting. While James was spoiling Lilly more than usual, things weren't going that well for the other marauders.
I mean, they didn't go well because they didn't want to. Although Sirius had distributed several cards, none of them were returned. That dog had managed to tarnish his reputation with all the flirt and non-girlfriend girls at that school - but that didn't mean he had been left empty-handed, no! Unfortunately for him, the only response he got was from Marlene Mckinnon the only person he hadn't sent anything to. But despite everything, she hadn't pushed any closer since the day of back-to-school - which didn't mean he could goof around.
Dragging his two single friends, Sirius sought to slip past a certain tall, dark girl - however he was available to anyone else who wanted a little attention. It was specifically at the free time after lunch that things started to get intense.
- Do you really want to stop by? - Remus asked his friend terrified.
- If we don't go this way, we won't be able to leave. The way is to take a risk. - Sirius spoke with a little fear in his voice. - On three.
- THREE! - Peter yelled, stepping out in front of the two and covering his head as best he could.
Anyone listening would think they were about to abandon a trench and run across a field amid volleys of bullets, and though it was infinitely more harmless than that war scenario, the thought wasn't entirely wrong. The entire corridor in the west wing of the castle had been transformed into a passage for cards and enchanted planes, which could seriously injure anyone who took risks at that time, not to mention the owls that carried various packages of presents.
But they lived with a werewolf, what was a paper cut or a plane in the eye compared to Moony in the middle of a full moon?
Rushing away, Peter managed to gain distance, leaving Sirius and Remus behind. Indignant, Sirius barked a curse word loud and clear, darting after the smaller one, defending himself as best he could from the paper planes and their sharp edges.
- Oh, oh, oh! - He yelled as he was shot at by the fury of the invitations, not realizing if Remus had followed him or not.
Remus was the strongest of the three, the one who could pick up speed more easily. And even though he hid it most of the time, he loved bursts of energy like that. If Harry, Ronald and Hermione faced a series of keys in their first year, Sirius, Peter and Remus faced spells in their last year - with the exception that one of them found it all a lot of fun.
In the blink of an eye, Remus was running. His movements were quick, he could easily dodge the spikes on his face - but he wasn't quick enough to stop one from swooping close to his neck - which took him to the ground. Retrieving his backpack with ease, he moved half crouched half standing, gaining distance once more, leaving only the sound of his laugh as indicative of his presence in the hallway.
- You think it's funny, don't you? - Sirius looked askance at the werewolf. - I was hit several times and you think it's funny! - He showed the various paper cuts suffered on his arms.
- Nobody tells you to go out singing everybody out there. - Peter snitched. - A lot of people don't like you for that.
- It's not my fault if I get to the girls first!
- But they also don't like not being special to you, man. You flirt with everybody. - Remus completed.
- Ainh, ain... AT LEAST I RECEIVED A CARD! - Sirius tried to brag, knowing the background of the two friends who were too shy to invite anyone. But that year he hadn't received a look of envy, just one of pity and shame. -What? Did you receive any? - Padfoot was surprised.
"One." Peter was the first to agree, while Remus just wavered.
Despite liking girls, Lupine couldn't even consider the possibility that he would be aesthetically beautiful to others. Both his condition and his extensive scars horrified him to such an extent that he intended to remain celibate until the last second of his life, both for fear of suffering further rejection or humiliation and for not condemning anyone to share these humiliations with him.

Prolog
- STUFFLE!
The jet of red light came out of my wand passing over the shoulder of the Death Eater, hitting a glass door cabinet on the opposite wall, the same one full of hourglasses of various shapes fell to the floor and opened, glass flew everywhere sides, falling and crashing to the floor.
The Death Eater quickly dodged grabbing his wand, lying on the floor beside the sparkling bell-shaped glass ready to attack us again. I saw Harry ducked behind another desk when the man turned; his mask slipped and became crooked on his face, preventing him from seeing where the boys and I were hiding. He pulled it out with his free hand and shouted:
- STUF ...
- STUFFLE! - I screamed before he did, my spell hit him in the middle of the chest, throwing him back towards the bell-shaped glass.
I waited to hear the crash and the glass shatter, but the man hit the solid glass and slid to the floor, but it was with shock that we saw his head sink into the glass as if it were just a soap bubble, he was sprawled out of it. my back on the table where my spell hurled him, my head inside the glass full of sparkling wind.
- Accio wand! - I ordered quickly seeing my best friend's wand fly from a dark corner straight into my hand and quickly threw it towards Harry.
- Thanks. Okay, let's get out ...
- Caution! Neville shouted, horrified. He was staring at the head of the Death Eater that was still stuck in the glass.
The three of us raised our wands, but we didn't need to use them as we gaped at what was happening to the man's head. It was shrinking fast ... Shrinking was not the right word, it was as if it were regressing, becoming younger so that in a few seconds there was a baby's head grotesquely embedded in the adult neck of the Death Eater, who struggled to get up and pull out the head of whatever that glass was, but while we were still looking shocked we saw the process repeat itself as the head rapidly aged, oscillating between aging and rejuvenating!
"It's time," I whispered in amazement.
A scream followed by a loud demolition boom from the neighboring room broke our shock.
- RONY? Shouted Harry, frightened, turning his back on the monstrous transformation that was taking place before our eyes. - GINA? LUNA?
- Harry, no! - I spoke when I realized that he had unconsciously denounced our position to any other diner that was hunting us down the halls of the ministry, but there was no more time to discuss the issue when we heard the steps coming towards us.
They had covered half the distance when I saw two more Death Eaters running towards us through the open door.
- Collo ... - I started but, before I could complete the spell, the diners toasted with a shout of triumph for recognizing my best friend:
- IMPEDIMENT!
Harry, Neville and I were knocked over on our backs in a second; Neville was thrown over the desk and disappeared from view, Harry crashed against the stone wall behind me and I collided with a bookcase and was promptly buried by an avalanche of heavy books leaving me too stunned to react.
- WE TAKE IT! - Screamed the Death Eater closest to Harry with the intention of attracting others. - IN AN OFFICE SIDE ...
- Silence! - I exclaimed full of anger feeling the magic if it depends on me without even having to use a wand or spell, instantly muting the wizard's voice. He continued to speak through the hole in the mask, but there was no sound, so his partner quickly pulled him out of the way ready to attack us.
- Petrificus Totalus! Harry roared when the second Death Eater raised his wand. His arms and legs came together and he fell flat on the carpet at Harry's foot, hard as a stone and unable to move.
- Very good, Ha ... - I began to praise grateful for the quick thought of my friend when the same Death Eater I had just silenced made a sudden horizontal gesture with his wand; a streak of purple flames came my way cutting my chest from the right shoulder to the left thigh.
The surprise hit me before the pain and it was with a small exclamation of surprise that I was thrown by the force of the dark spell towards a cupboard with glass doors, full of Vira-Tempos, behind me. The pain of the terrible burn hit me at the same time that I heard the glass shatter as the windbreakers broke around me, I found myself enveloped by the strong wind and the magical sand of the artifacts before everything darkened.

5.The one of the fight
- Come on, Remus! It's no problem for you to spend Easter at home! - Peter offered just before they boarded the express for the holiday.
- I would be a nuisance, Rabbit. Your parents wouldn't know about my arrival, and I haven't even told my parents about the change of plans.
- But if you thought it best not to come back this year...
- I'll be fine, Pete. It's not even close to the moon, it's just a few days. - Remus calmed his friend, saying good-bye to the rest of the group, and as usual Sirius would spend the holiday with the Potters, after all he had been practically adopted by Euphemia.
That hadn't been a lie at all. His parents were really going through a fight at the moment-and he didn't want to go into an environment where they were at war-but the decision to stay in school had been his alone. He knew that Jean would stay in school, and since she didn't have any other friends he thought it was a good idea to stay and keep her company.
I mean, at least he had thought about it, since Jean didn't seem to be that interested in his company. She had unfortunately found another poor soul to disturb-or at least that was how Severe Snape liked to grumble about her company. Since the day the girl had helped him with his transfiguration work, time and again they had met and studied together in the library - not together, together, but in the sense of coexisting at the same table, with occasional exchanges of words where they would clear up a question or two with each other.
That was the most Snape could allow himself to do considering the amount of eyes around, after all, he was a sonserine and proud of it, but he also had to consider the presence of his housemates - not that his fellow diners would attack her just for asking a question, but they would make the Griffin girl's life a living hell if they wanted to (as hellish as Sirius Black calling her out daily) and he didn't want that for her, after all she was even tolerable. After all, Severe Prince Snape had acquired a mild sympathy for Jean Granger to the point that he wanted her to have peace during her years as a student - and of course even sporadically study with him.
"Only Griffin girl who has a bit of brain matter" - he had muttered one day, eliciting a low chuckle from her, as well as a small smile of his own.
Remus did not share the same hatred for Snape that Sirius and James had. To tell the truth, he was perhaps at the same level of dislike that Peter had for the sonserine, which was nil. He honestly had nothing against Snape, he just thought he was snotty, but this whole situation of comp-dividing Jean's attention was irritating Moony, at least that's what Remus was telling himself, that it was his wolf side that was really bothering him and not him per se, not completely, maybe a part of it?
Truth be told, since Remus had witnessed the whole Severo-Lillian situation (two years earlier) he felt duty-bound to spare Jean from going through any situation merely similar to the one starring the sonserine. She didn't deserve to be called names or anything like that! So, in Lupin's eyes, Snape was far from being someone to be trusted, especially considering the other friendships he maintained when he was away from the girl.
Thus, unconsciously, Remus had taken it upon himself to be the "knight in shining armor" for Jean, not that he needed to or much less that she would accept it if she knew what the boy was thinking, but in any case for him to protect her from the evil sonserines he needed to find her first. Come on, it was almost eleven o'clock in the morning on a Thursday, where could the witch be?
The common room? No.
Great Hall? No.
Astronomy tower? No.
Library? No.
Black lake? No.
Whomping Willow? Yes.
Yes!?
What the hell was Jean doing there? Was it really her? Forcing his eyes open, Remus saw a figure sitting in the line just before the range of the Whomping Willow, staring up at the tree with a lost expression on her face. Approaching without any care, Remus could not hold his curiosity as he sat down next to her.
- Why are you alone here?
- The castle is almost empty, I would be alone anywhere else.
- But why here?
- I woke up in a mood for fights, and since we don't have an active dueling club at school, I thought that watching the willow fight with the air would be a good substitute.

Phantoms - JATP

Sumary:
Although Julie Molina can't remember, she used to be the youngest Sunset Curve fan until the boys died.
The one Julie sings a capella with Reggie and Luke at their first living meet and greet, and finds them eleven years later in her house as ghosts
April 2009, California
- Twenty more minutes guys. - The producer warned as she passed behind the table where the boys were sitting.
-Not to be discouraging, but do we have an audience for another twenty minutes? - Bobby asked no one in particular, worried about his schedule.
-Come on, Bobby! Cheer up! We can't think like that, it's only our first date! - Luke quickly defended the lack of fans in the environment, pointing out that everyone started somewhere.
This was the first meet and greet that Sunset Curve had done in a famous record store in Los Angeles. It had been about three or four months since they had managed to record their first independent album, and about a month since a local radio station had bought the rights to at least three tracks, playing them on a recurring basis. With the small success, it didn't take long for the radio station to organize that meet-and-greet, with a small show scheduled for Orpheum the following week.
But apparently their fans must have found it too hot to go to the store, it seemed. They had been sitting at that table for almost two hours, and only ten people had passed by - three of whom had no idea who they were.
-I just don't want to be too late. You know how the traffic is here at this hour.
-You'll be able to pick up Carrie on time, man. No worries. - Alex patted him on the back. - Look, someone's coming this way!
The four of them watched as the brunette woman came toward them, holding hands with a little girl no older than five, who stared at them with her eyes completely glazed.
-Let's go, little Julie. How do you speak? - The woman obviously asked her daughter, who seemed to have lost the ability to speak.
Squirming on her own two feet, the little girl stared at each of them before deciding to open her mouth.
-Hi, my name is Julie! - Poor thing, she was nervous!
-Hey, Julie! - Reggie took the lead, being good with kids and having already looked at Carrie once or twice while Bobby went to the bathroom or answered the phone. - I'm Reggie!
-I know! And you are Luke, Bobby and Alex! - She pointed at each of them, losing her shyness. - I hear you!
-And you like us? - Luke cracked a smile that made her laugh even harder, enjoying the attention.
-Very much!
-It's our youngest fan! It's a pleasure to welcome you to our fan club, Julie! How old is she? - Alex asked the little girl's mother, who was just smiling at her daughter.
-FIVE! - She answered for herself, showing the five little fingers of her hand.
-Wow, she's almost my daughter's age! - Bobby confessed, causing Julie's mother to freak out. - I had my Carrie when I was fifteen, she's four now.
-Oh, I see... -But it was clear to see the judgmental expression she was trying to hide. - Julie, won't you show them how you can sing the songs?
-Do you know our songs? - Luke asked genuinely excited, changing his tone to something childish. - But I only believe it when I hear it.
Being challenged, little Julie immediately puffed out her chest and began to sing.

Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
-Look at that! - Reggie cheered, joining her in the short a capella section
Whatever happens
Even when everything's down
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Luke couldn't stand the excitement and sang the last two parts of the stanza with her, with a giant smile on his face:
I gotta keep on dreaming
Cause I gotta catch that feeling
-You sing very well, Julie! Do you want to be a singer when you grow up? - Alex asked, becoming pleased when she frantically nodded her head.
-A few more years and we'd have you as our lead singer. - Luke winked at her, getting the most beautiful smile in the world.
-When I grow up a little more, promise I can join? - she asked in her cute little voice.
-That's up to your mother, and if you do well in school and eat vegetables. - Bobby added to Julie's mother. - Carrie hates vegetables, this is the only way to get her to do something.
-I know how it is. You didn't bring anything for them to sign, did you, dear?
Taking their album from her mother's hand, Julie walked in quick steps to the table, pushing where she could and watching the boys autograph the CD cover.
"To Julie, our best fan!
Luke Alex
Reggie Bobby"
-Want to take a picture with us? - Luke offered, seeing the soul leaving the little girl's body with so much happiness.
The four of them got up and walked to the front of the table, with Luke taking her on his lap to make the picture look better. Completely delighted to be with her idols, little Julie almost started to cry, feeling her eyes being wiped by a smiling Reggie.
-Ah, don't cry! You'll see a lot more of us around here.
After Julie's departure with her mother, it didn't take long for the boys' schedule to end. It had been a very promising day after all!
-We know we're on the right track when even one child is our friend. - Luke pointed out. - Does Carrie listen to our songs too, Bobby?
-She does, but she can't sing them very well yet. She just turned four, Luke!
-Will you have time to go eat with us?
-If I'm another fifteen minutes late, her grandmother will kill me! My girlfriend is still at work, so if she has to babysit for a few more minutes I'll be forced to listen to the whole lecture about being irresponsible four years ago.
-It better not be any longer then. Give her a hug for us! - Reggie wished, putting on his jacket and following the other two. - What shall we eat?
-I know a guy who sells a very good dogão nearby. - Luke had said, unhappily decreeing the end of their existence.
Now, what could you expect from a hot dog made in the trunk and engine of an old car? A simple stomach ache it would not be! Well, at least that's what Alex thought it was when those damn cramps hit his stomach, along with the slight shortness of breath from the sharp pangs. They hadn't even eaten and decided to walk along the beach for an hour and a half when it started. Luke felt heavy eyelids, dizziness, and a headache, while Reginald did his best not to let the contents of his stomach spill out as he wanted to. The three boys were in no condition to go home, and when they gave in to the pain, they could not stop screaming. An ambulance was called for them, but it was too late for Alex, who had a cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital, unable to stand the severe pain. Reggie and Luke had been transferred to the ICU, and it was up to the guitarist to try to talk about what had happened, only to panic when he realized that his ability to speak was more than compromised.
Luke had survived for almost a week, only to see his bass player also succumb to botulism and pass away beside him. He knew he needed to be strong, very strong - as the level of contagion in their organisms was alarming (too bad, cooking in the engine and trunk of a car!). Both the doctors and his parents urged him to hang in there a little longer, and although he was semi-conscious during all that time, hearing that he would certainly have sequelae from the disease and would probably never be able to sing again in his life due to complications in his tongue and speech made him give up everything. His life was music, and if he couldn't continue with it, why keep trying? His best friends were already gone because of his stupid idea, it would be unfair for him to continue living when Reggie and Alex could not.
It was on a visit from Bobby that the heart monitor started screaming desperately, indicating that Luke had also let go.

-My father wants to sell the house, he thinks the memories of my mother are not doing me any good. - Julie commented with restraint over lunch.
-I don't have many memories of my father, but I believe I was quite painful to my mother when I was born. - Flynn commented in a failed attempt to help Julie. - But I don't think it's the same or that I can understand you now.
Flynn didn't have a father, Willie had been in an accident a few months before she was born - specifically when she was going to find out she was going to be a father. Because she had never known the pain of losing a relative, she couldn't help her friend much in this regard, only in how much she missed him.
-I don't know if I want to get out of there, but I don't know if I can get better with all those memories.
-Why don't you go to your mother's house and try to talk to her? It may sound silly, but I think meditating might make you feel a little better. Besides, your last chance in music class is coming up, and we don't want you to miss it, do we?
Julie Molina knew this, as she also knew that she couldn't play. But it wouldn't hurt anyone to try, right?
As soon as she got home from school, Julie headed straight for the outhouse, locking herself inside with only her silence and her memories. She stayed there for a long time just absorbing the energy of the environment to finally start trying to make some contact, ask for help, enlightenment, or just a calm after the storm. She cried and cried and cried, and just before she felt emotionally shaken, she heard a noise coming from one of the boxes on the second floor. There was no way animals could have entered the room, so how? Putting aside her doubts, she went up the stairs and looked at the noisy box, noticing how it had suddenly turned over, just like the poor cd on the floor.
-Sunset Curve.... - Julie read, having no idea what it meant. - If only I could read what's autographed.
Giving up on decrypting those horrid lyrics, Julie reached down and put the CD into her radio, not recognizing the stirring melody before microphonics and squeaks took over the speakers, with three tall figures suddenly appearing in front of her.
-AAAHHH!!!
-AAAAH!!!!
This was too illogical! Ghosts! Three musician ghosts and slackers who felt entitled to roam around the house AND her room whenever they wanted! By the way, what were they doing there anyway? She had asked her mother for a sign that everything was all right, not three nagging guys with no sense of personal space... What was Reggie doing talking to her father anyway?!
She couldn't, much less wanted to worry about those three. She had much more important things to think about, like how she was going to get away from her piano test in music class again, or about how Nick excused her in the hallway, or even how ....
-Ah, do you like him, Julie? - Luke asked, laughing at her face.
-What are you doing in school, Luke? - Julie growled, forgetting that no one could see them.
-I'm bored.
-Are you coming to school?
-I'm just VERY bored.
But probably the ghost boredom should have passed before her failed music class, since it only had Carrie Wilson throwing hints and directives at her. Stupid girl. Julie didn't want to talk after that, just go back to her house and ... scream.
Scream!
SCREAM!
Why couldn't she get over her emotions and just play that damn score? The damn score that she and her mother composed just a few weeks before she needed to be hospitalized and passed away. Why....?
-Hey, who left the radio on? - Luke asked, walking back to the outbuilding and being stopped by Alex.
-Shhh. It's not a radio, it's Julie singing. Something must have happened because she doesn't sound good.
The three spirits were watching her from behind, amazed by the girl's musical talent.
Wake up, wake up if it's all you do
Look out, look inside of you
It's not what you lost
It's what you'll gain raising your voice in the rain
-That voice.... - Luke lost himself in thought, letting out in a thread of a voice. - I know that voice... It's different, but it's her....
Wake up your dream and make it true
Look out, look inside of you
When you feel lost
Relight that spark, time to come out of the dark
-Hey, it's our little fan! She's older, of course, but that's her! - Reggie recognized her, being overjoyed to see her again.
-But wasn't she Carrie's age? - Alex wondered.
-I think I heard her calling someone Carrie today at school. - Luke grimaced. - It's been eleven years, hasn't it?
Wake up
Mm-mm, wake up
And if she thought she would fall into tears right away, she was glad she was deeply mistaken and gave a startled cry at the sudden presence behind her.
-Hey, Julie! Your voice is still wonderful, you know. - Reggie came forward, sitting down on the piano.
-Yeah, it's a little more mature, but it's still that voice! - Alex got excited, sitting down next to her on the piano bench, leaving Luke still static behind her.
She was so cute and cuddly, and now she was so... beautiful. And her voice! If angels existed, he was sure he had just heard one singing.
-Continued? I thought they were off the CD yesterday. How would they know what my voice sounds like if they were there?
-Don't you remember? - Luke whispered. - Well, obviously not, otherwise we wouldn't be getting such a bad reception here.
-Remember what, exactly?
-The CD, where is it? I think you might remember if you listened a little. It's not possible that you've forgotten our songs!
Even though she thought the ghosts had gone crazy, Julie picked up the album and put it on the radio, listening to the first track and being surprised at how familiar it was to her.
-Did you see that? -Look at the cover! - Reggie pointed to the object in her hands. - What's on it?
-I honestly couldn't understand a word of this scribble.
-EI! MY HANDWRITING IS NOT UGLY! - Luke snapped. - Can't you see? Here it is: to Julie, our biggest fan!
-I think it's very unlikely that ....
-Here, Julie! - Alex called out to her from the second floor, staring at the picture in the box. - If you can come here, you'll be able to see for yourself.
But until she saw the four boys standing there, smiling, with Luke holding his miniature version of her arms almost crying with excitement. She only had the capacity to look at each of them asking for an explanation - since it would be too much for her to remember on her own.
-It was at our first meet and greet. You and your mother showed up when we were about to leave, and she said that you liked our songs and that you knew them by heart. Luke here doubted it and you started to sing a little bit and wow, Julie. How could a little five-year-old girl sing so well like that? - Reggie explained. - You asked if you could join the band when you were older, and Bobby made it a condition that you only start vegetables, since Carrie...
-Wait, Carrie? Bobby had her as a teenager, didn't he?
-Do you remember that? - Luke wondered. - Do you also remember that you cried with emotion at having your picture taken with us?
-What? Of course not! I know this because a Bobby was part of the rest of my childhood, and coincidentally had a daughter named Carrie. My mother was a music producer and worked at a record company, she told me that he had met her at a school reunion and asked her for a chance, and she got it for him. I grew up listening to Trevor Wilson's songs, he taught me what rock music is!
-Trevor... I think it was wiser to actually change my name after all this... -Alex summed up.
-Do you remember anything else from that day? - Julie's eyes were moist, crazy for more memories of her mother.
-Do we remember? - Luke snorted. That was the day we died.
-Correcting, I died that day, you took a few weeks. - Alex fixed.
-As if it makes a big difference! We should have gone for popcorn, that's what!
-If you show up with a hot dog in your hand, we'll make sure it falls out. - Reggie seriously warned Julie, who only pretended to understand.
It was only when Julie lay in her bed that night that she understood a little of what had happened. She had asked her mother for a sign that everything was all right, that she would be all right in that house and not be smothered by memories, and she had been given the boys back - boys she could not even remember being a fan of. That box had no way to fall on its own, something had knocked it over to get her attention. Maybe it was too much, but she would really like to believe that her mother had sent them to her so that she wouldn't be so alone.
She had given Julie a good reminder once with the meet and greet, and now she was giving another one by putting them in her path once again.
She had no words to thank them. She didn't want to move. She just wanted her mother back, and if that meant having the constant presence of those three teenagers, she would gladly accept.
Less if Luke kept trying to open her refrigerator, that was too much.

The Howl of the Moon - Remus Lupin
Summary:
After a terrible accident in the battle at the Ministry in 1995, Hermione Granger wins a one-way ticket to the past. Unable to go back to his time, his only chance for survival is to adapt to the late 70s and get on with his life, interfering as little as possible so that the future does not fall apart.
However, everything goes downhill when Remus John Lupine starts to notice too much the new girl who clearly wanted to go unnoticed by Hogwarts.
Chapters: Prolog | One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven
Warnings: mature
6. The one of the full moon
Three weeks had passed since the last weekend in Hogsmeade, three different moon phases, which indicated that the full moon had finally arrived. Although it would not appear until Wednesday, already by Friday Remus was completely agitated. At first he could not stand still or concentrate on anything at all. At the second, he had bursts of energy at inopportune moments - as well as that time when the fat woman had to open the passage at four in the morning so that he could run in peace to see if he could discharge all that accumulated energy and, above all, the frustration of not having settled with Jean yet. More than the effects of the moon what kept him from getting a good night's sleep was how everything had fallen apart between him and the witch. Since he couldn't stay still in bed, going around the black lake at least fifteen times and climbing the stairs twice without getting tired seemed like a good idea, even if carrying James' invisibility cloak made the whole exercise more complicated.
However, none of this helped him to relax and worse, it only made him reflect how cowardly he was being by not being able to talk to the girl he saw almost every day because she was a classmate and workmate! He had said that they needed to work it out, but he was running away from her and in those three weeks it was the first time that the boy found himself grateful for not being from the same year as the brunette and so they didn't share classes ... But the monitoring had become a real torture simply because the two treated each other as complete strangers, only discussed issues that had to do with the classes and doubts of the students ... Not to mention that all this strangeness between the two consequently made Jean approach Snape, which only infuriated Remus more and more, even without him understanding why she was friends with the slytherin bothered him at that point. .. Of course he had already pointed out his reasons to worry, especially regarding the witch's safety, but the level of anger he felt when he saw the girl with that snotty guy was not proportional and even Lupin knew it, but being so close to the full moon he justified his terrible behavior as one more of the effects of being a werewolf.
Speaking of the moon's effects on the boy, it wasn't the restlessness, the anxiety, or even the anger that bothered him, but what came after that, the phase that bothered him the most: erections that were more spontaneous than usual, along with an immense desire for sex. Since he didn't have a girlfriend and didn't even allow himself to be with someone, there was only one way to alleviate this situation - and no, ignoring was not an option. He had tried this a few times since he had started puberty at thirteen, and it had not worked. His outbursts were getting heavier, along with the more violent transformations than usual. He didn't consider himself a sex maniac, but the situation was very uncomfortable during the proximity of the moon. I mean, only before and after, but during the moon he didn't complain at all, after all, let's face it, he was a human being and had his desires.
Those days before the full moon were not very different from the previous months. Although the moon was only the next day, his body was already showing signs of exhaustion from fighting the wolf's energy blasts, but that didn't mean he wasn't ready for another one. Locked in the male cabin of the dormitory, Remus played himself almost angrily, wishing it would all be over soon so he could sleep in peace. His movements were quick and hard, rubbing his member without any shame - just holding back his vocalization. It was enough that he felt like a wanker, he didn't need others to call him that. He didn't usually think about much while touching himself, since it wasn't his rational side that was turned on, so he didn't even worry about it much, but that time.... Oh, that time....
Remus knew he was close, speeding up his movements when a vision filled his mind: long, voluminous brown hair, along with a charming smile, grinning at him. The table-splitting during the monitoring, their thighs together, her leaning her head on his shoulder, him holding her hands in front of the Fighting Willow... Without him realizing it, Remus had drastically slowed his movements to a slow pace, just enjoying the occasional memories of the times they had touched each other, smiling with the pleasure he felt. But then the projected image of the licking Moony had proposed the day after his birthday appeared, and along with it the most pornographic scenes between the two of them together. Jean sitting on his lap, Jean sucking him, Jean begging him, Jean moaning his name along with a...
"I like you, Remus"
After that sentence, Remus's eyes widened in terror, but it was too late: the jets of his release were coming out harder than usual, forcing him to bend forward for balance. Had he really touched himself thinking of a person? Worse, of Jean Granger?
Remus felt his pressure drop-both from the strong enjoyment and from all the shame and embarrassment he felt, only having the strength to pull up his pants, wash his hands, and almost fly to his bed, violently closing the canopy curtains. What the hell had happened to him! How had he done such a thing!
Remus couldn't shut his eyes that night, anticipating the last phase before the moon: the one where he looked like he had been beaten by three kangaroos. His whole body ached, deep dark circles settled under his eyes, and his mood was more than acidic - almost effervescent. And of course, the damn erections! But this time he refused to give in to temptation, knowing that he would suffer later, but he didn't care.
No wonder he hid from Jean all day.
Until ten o'clock at night had arrived, and with it the time to go to the House of Screams.
- Are you coming or not? - James joked at Remus's delay in leaving the room.
- I'm coming.
His plan was simple: skim the communal hall and get to the house as quickly as possible, but he hadn't counted on Jean's presence near the fireplace with her face sunk in a book, completely oblivious to their presence. He didn't want to, but her neck almost swiveled like an owl in his direction, just as her scent slapped his already sharp nostrils at that point. If it hadn't been for James pulling on his wrist, he thought it very likely that he would have shoved his face into her neck, only to die of shame later.
What was happening to him?
"I hate you"- Remus threatened Moony, who only had a smug smile on his lips.
- You sick wolf. - he muttered to himself.
But it hadn't been Moony thinking about Jean the day before. Moony was just keeping himself horny, his imagination was solely on Remus. Wolf, I know....
Hurriedly, Remus rushed out of the castle, ignoring Rabicho tightening the Willow knot and heading straight for the largest room in the House, he tried to abstract himself from the smell. Although the boys tried to talk, they couldn't get more than grumbles of pain. By this time they were more than used to seeing their friend naked during the transformation and afterwards as well, since they refused to leave him alone during the whole process.
It was around half past eleven that Remus lost his sanity. It started from his back, with his shoulder blades bending forward, followed by the changes in the bone structure of his legs. His bones snapped breaking and reshaping themselves while his arms changed, with his claws growing sharply and cutting his skin, and finally his jaw changing, complete with the growth of all the fur, as well as that tail.
Troubled, Moony was confused and nervous. The smell still lingered in his nostrils, and it was too good to just enjoy. He wanted to be close, to enjoy it, and to smell it some more, but for that he needed to get out of the box. Almost stepping on the poor little tail, Moony bumped into the branches of Pontas, but interested in the way out. That would be quite a night.
Even under protest, Almofadinhas allowed his friend to pass out, with he and Pontas acting as the werewolf's front guard, preventing him from gaining too much freedom - with poor Rabicho almost hanging on to Almofadinhas' tail, trying to gain space and balance so as not to be left behind. Walks like these were quite common when Moony was calmer, but this time the wolf was quite agitated.
He had even howled at the moon in his desperation! Worried about the lecture they would hear if they found out that instead of the werewolf being trapped in the scream house he and his friends had escaped to run in relative safety through the forbidden forest, the detention did not begin to define the size of the jam they were in. When the boys realized that Moony was getting closer and closer to the castle - which was unusual of the runs that usually got away from the village and Hogwarts, - what was supposed to be a "game" of catch where the deer that was James was usually the wolf's favorite prey in the hunting game had to step in preventing the werewolf from getting any closer to the school grounds and that's when things went downhill. Points and Pillows finally managed to drag Moony to the House of Screams, putting up with all his violence for the rest of the night.
It was no surprise to any of the boys when Remus returned to normal with the sunrise looking like it had been the scene of tap dancing by elephants, hippos, horses and a very angry werewolf in the early hours of the morning - even James and Sirius had some pretty ugly cuts resulting from last night's fight Fortunately Peter had been quick on the healing spells knowing that if Lupin saw what he had done to the others he would feel immensely guilty.
"BORING!" - Shouted the wolf protesting at being suppressed yet again by the witch who was so tired he barely wanted to think about how much his other half still had the nerve to complain!
Completely finished, Remus didn't run away from the infirmary that morning, remaining in the hospital area until shortly after lunch, only then showing up for herbology class which was a colossal waste considering that the healing potions had left him so doped up that he just propped his head on one hand and kept counting how many leaves the potted mandrake seedlings on the shelf next to the teacher's board had. Unfortunately for him, it was a Thursday, which meant that he would spend at least an hour with Jean, in a very low-traffic environment, and he hadn't even settled down yet.
Feeling trapped in a nightmare, Remus crept into the transfiguration room, seeing that Jean was already in her usual place. Although he approached cautiously, the girl's natural perfume filled the room temptingly, and with his sense of smell still heightened by the recent transformation, he needed all the control he had and didn't have not to simply hug the girl like a madman and ask her forgiveness for being an idiot! But who said he could? The smell stirred his entire nervous system and caused him to act without thinking.
In a burst Remus threw his backpack aside along with his sanity and any rationality he proudly admitted to having, and ended the distance between them in stride, coming face to face with the girl.
Jean looked as beautiful as ever, the afternoon sun streaming in through the skylight, and for a second Remus could almost imagine how her angry curls would look in that light. He could easily blame Moony for his attitude as he gripped the witch's waist tightly and with his other hand pulled her neck close. When he captured the brunette's lips between his own in a dashing kiss he could no longer lie to himself, it was he who desperately wanted to kiss her. It was he, Remus Lupin, who wanted Jean Granger as something much more special than a friend, much more than a co-worker with whom he shared the responsibilities of monitoring. He wanted everything!
Surprisingly he was reciprocated, the witch thrusting her body forward attacked his mouth with more vigor, waging a real battle with their tongues, being instigated by the movement of the brunette's body, Lupin pulled her closer.
- Remus... - Jean sighed.
- Remus... - That sound was far away, but they were the only two in the room.
- Remus? - Jean's voice was present in front of him, waking him from his reverie.
Shaking his head, Lupin realized that he was standing in the middle of the room, staring at nothing. He felt his body on fire with shame. For Merlin! The wizard tried to turn around, he needed to get out of there before he did something similar to what he had imagined, but was stopped by her.
- Did something happen? - Hermione asked worriedly, standing in front of him, blocking his way. As far as she knew transformations left you finished, not looking like a cherry tomato.
- I.... I'm just feeling a little sick. - Remus closed his eyes, shaking his head hard, practically holding his breath.
"Hehehe" - Moony laughed in the face of danger, yawning and falling into unconsciousness lulled by the delicious aroma of old book and honeyed oranges.
Hermione stood on tiptoe and put her hand on the older man's forehead, being sure about his elevated temperature.
- You look a bit feverish to me... Why don't you go rest? I take care of things around here, I'm sure Minerva wouldn't mind.
Seriously tempted to accept the offer, Remus heard Snape's voice talking to Malcides in the distance down the hall, immediately changing his mind - who knows why.
- It's nothing so bad... - Remus declared marching over to his usual wallet - but I can't guarantee anything about staying conscious. - He made a pillow out of his backpack, staying as comfortable as possible, even if alert, until he was sure that in the event the sonserinos hadn't come for monitoring.
And well, just when he thought he had abstracted himself from the outside world, he felt Jean's scent once again close to his body, along with an extra layer of protection on his back.
- Like it or not, you might be running a fever. - She declared, placing the cover of her uniform over him before sitting down at the next desk and beginning to rehearse ignoring him again.
Remus was too tired to think or argue, falling asleep soon after. But if things weren't looking too good for the griffin, for Hermione, who was still upset about the fight, they only got worse when she saw Lily walk through the door.
- Is everything alright? - The redhead ventured, not liking the younger girl's hard stare. - Don't worry, I just came to see how Remus is doing.
- Sleeping. - He answered with false indifference, turning back to his parchment.
- It's just that he's never spent this much time in the infirmary... - Lily let slip, turning back after noticing Jean's eyebrow arched in suspicion. - He wasn't feeling well and of all the times he had been sick, this was the worst!
- Do you know what happened? - Hermione asked, and seeing Lily's panicked expression, decided to help. - He came here with a fever, but refused to go to the infirmary.
- Fever? - That was news.
- Yeah. Lethargy, red body, hot forehead, and unexplainable tiredness. Do you know where he might have gotten sick?
- I have no idea, but he is a little.... Fragile.
Fragile! Did they really use that excuse?
Hermione had to hold back the urge to roll her eyes, but she began to worry more about her roommate. Even if they weren't "on good terms" she didn't want him to get sick, especially after such a difficult night of the full moon as she inferred after the redhead's speech. Then sighing resignedly she put away her materials.
- He can't afford to stay here, the castle is freezing and if he's really sick like this he needs to be warm and comfortable, not sleeping in his purse.
- I'll try to fix that. - and disappearing for the next fifteen minutes, Lily returned with James following her, her features genuinely concerned.
The last time Remus had been sick was when Moony had jumped into the semi-frozen lake at Christmas three years earlier, providing the poor guy with pre-pneumonia - along with a shrinking wolf of shame in his mind.
He was a water wolf, damn it!
- Did he say anything? - James asked worriedly.
- He told a certain Moony to stop bothering him. - Hermione replied, having monitored her friend's sleep. - And he ordered fries with arugula.
- Wouldn't that be dried tomatoes with arugula? It's his favorite salad. - James corrected while trying to wake Remus up.
- There is a big difference in vocalization from potato to tomato.
- Actually, not much.
- One is a vegetable and one is a fruit!
- But...
- Arguing about his salad preference is not going to help at all now. - Lily interrupted the crazy conversation. - James, can you help me carry him to the Common Room?
James merely agreed, walking over to his friend and crouching down beside him, checking his temperature-which, although already normalized, he preferred to use as an excuse to take him for some well-deserved rest. The night had been violent, as it had not been for many years.
- Moony? - James tested, being ignored. - Remus? - He was relieved to see his friend's eyes blink sleepily.
- Tip...? - Remus didn't understand why his friend was there, after all, Potter was one of the group that only showed up at the monitorship the week before the exam, completely desperate.
- Let's go to the dorm, you don't look so good. - James stroked his back, situating the teenager.
- No....?
- No, Jean said you had a fever and asked Moony to leave you alone. Shouldn't you go to the dorm?
Remus merely nodded, getting up with difficulty. Ignoring Jean's existence, he leaned on James while Lily carried his backpack, thanking Jean for warning him.
Hermione in turn almost followed, but it wasn't as if they were still friends... not after what he had said on the walk in Hogsmeade. And for the first time in a long time she missed her time of her friends, unconsciously she had clung to the presence of Remus, Lily and the naughty ones, but there in that empty room she realized how alone she was.
She was the alien in that time and as much as she wanted to fool herself she couldn't change the future. She should never have approached them in the first place, so sighing resignedly she told herself that it didn't affect her! She needed to focus on her studies!
___________
- Ask her, Jamie! - Lilly pleaded with her boyfriend, who was trying to concentrate on that afternoon's quadribol game.
- Why don't you ask her yourself?
- Don't you see how she runs away from me?
- And why don't you ask Remus?
- He won't like me asking about her. Please, James! I never asked you for anything!
- Lily, saying that every time you ask me for something doesn't make your point any more valid! But what can I not do for you...? - James melted, stealing a brief kiss from the redhead, before addressing the rookie, who was just finishing descending the dormitory stairs.
- Hey, Newbie! Are you going to the game today? - drawing the attention of a few curious listeners.
- Are your fans so bad that you need to buy other people's fans? - Hermione couldn't help herself, laughing internally at Potter's affectedly offended expression.
- You'll be cheering for me then? - Sirius asked excitedly, coming down the stairs after her.
He had forgotten his gloves in his room, returning just in time to hear the teasing.
- Harry.... I mean, Potter has a better chance of getting my cheers than you do, Black. - Hermione let slip absently.
- What does he have that I don't have?
- He doesn't give me a hard time.
- UUUUI.... - Peter whistled, armed with his fan costume that would make Luna Lovegood jealous.
But Remus didn't opine on the matter - preferring to remain stretched out on the couch in front of the fireplace pretending to be part of the furniture. Since the moon two weeks ago he had avoided as much as possible being alone with her, or thinking about her, or talking to her. He was deeply bothered by her perverted thoughts, as well as her request that Moony stop tormenting him that she had listened to, preferring to play dumb by saying it was a nickname, but she shouldn't have missed him, since she hadn't sought him out either.
He really thought that she didn't intend to go to the game that Saturday so that his afternoon would be another time when he could get peace of mind by focusing on cheering for James and Sirius with equal animation as Peter demonstrates glued to the protective bar of the bleachers - but when he saw those brown hairs three seats to his left in the bleachers, he couldn't stand to stay away any longer and without really reflecting simply sat down next to the girl.
Hermione just sighed resignedly when she realized that it was Remus who had taken the vacant seat next to her and when she realized that the other would start talking she couldn't contain herself.
- Now you talk to me? - she poked. And she mentally slapped herself because even though she told herself that the witch's estrangement didn't affect her and that it was actually the best thing since she shouldn't mess with the past, but there she was unable to hold her tongue or hide her displeasure with the whole situation.
- You haven't spoken to me these days either. - Lupin might have sounded offended as if it was all her fault in the end, but his tone was completely pitiful because this was the reality that their estrangement was killing him little by little.
Hermione looked at Remus and all she could think was that he looked like a real puppy that fell out of the move.
- You know I would never ask you to stay away from James and your friends, I just wanted to prove my point, it wasn't supposed to be a choice or put you up against the wall or anything like that, but I didn't think you'd walk away from me like that.
She was tired of playing hard to get. By Merlin, she was only 16! She had lost her friends, her family, her own time, and just when she thought she could finally accept the reality she was in - as Minerva had suggested by making new friends, pursuing her studies and dreams - Remus who had become such a dear friend had simply stopped talking to her. And worse, she felt as if it was her fault, as if she had told him to choose and in this case he had chosen the others, leaving her alone.
Right after the fight she felt extremely let down by Lupin and all his prejudice towards the sonserino, not to mention his insistence on turning a blind eye ignoring the inexcusable attitudes of the other rascals. Then she felt anger, she felt truly outraged by the fact that the boy was acting all macho towards her as if to say: "I have to defend the fragile and foolish Hermione who can't tell friend from foe.
She was never helpless!
She was a highly trained and capable witch, who had faced a Mountain Trasgo at the age of eleven (even though in this case it was Harry and Ron who incapacitated the magical creature while she was hiding under the sink, but yelling is part of it, it gives encouragement and moral support) and then survived long enough to be nose to nose with an enraged wolf (the same one that was now overprotecting her) when she howled at him at the age of thirteen! Okay, it was exactly because she got careless in the battle of the ministry that she ended up in that mess, but if it hadn't been for her, Harry and Ron would have spent half of their school days in the infirmary. And now came the melancholy, she hadn't felt this sad and alone since Halloween in her first year.
- You said you cared about me and that's why you didn't want me to hang out with Severus, but avoiding me is not something a caring friend would do. - And for a second she had to take a deep breath to keep from bursting into tears, luckily everyone around her was too alert to the game to notice her or Lupin.
And there, seeing the girl he claimed to be his best friend so unhappy about something he had done Remus felt like a real and complete idiot!
- I'm sorry. - Remus sighed defeated. - You were right about everything! I can't tell you who can be your friend, and yes, everyone deserves a second chance... I hate the way things are between us! You are my best friend and I want you to stay that way! I just didn't know how to fix all this... Damn, I still hate seeing you hanging out with Snape, but that's my problem and I didn't have to say all that to you! I'm sorry for being such a jerk... Can I ask you a question?
Hermione laughed lightly and answered as the boy had answered when she had asked the question that had started the whole fight.
- She just did.
- Would it be too much to ask for a second chance too?
- No, it wouldn't. Even if you were a complete prejudiced jerk!
A stabbing.
- And it's not like I'm some helpless witch who needs you to protect me! - Well, not specifically, but Snape did, to protect her from Moony that night fifteen years ahead.
Another stab.
- But it's like I said, everyone deserves a second chance and I would really be happy if we could continue to be friends without any resentment. - She concluded relieved after getting all that off her chest.
"Just... friends?" - Moony asked sadly, feeling Remus' heart also wither like a birthday balloon at the end of the party.
- I am very happy about that...- Remus replied with a yellow smile on his face, making Jean suspicious of his real feelings.
Friend was better than colleague, wasn't it?
- You don't seem very happy....
- It's not that, I'm really happy, it's just that I'm not that much of a fan of quadribol, especially when we're losing. James will be unbearable later in the dorm, and after all our... this mess, I just wanted some peace. - He confessed, looking tired.
- Did I keep you up that much? - Hermione said playfully, happy to be back in the mood for the casual banter between the two of them, but soon noticed the pink confusion on Lupin's face.
- Not you specifically! M-but the whole situation itself.
"LIE!" - His conscience had shouted, muffling the shout Moony was about to give.
"I'm glad you know"-The wolf agreed.
- Do you want to get out of here? I'm not willing to watch Pettigrew cuss all and more when James loses his pomo in a little while.
- The two of us sneaking out of a quadribol game seems a bit suspicious to me, Miss Granger.
- I see it more as two not interested in quadribol going away for their mental sanity living in the silly uncertainty of not knowing who really won or lost.
- I'll take it, but only if you answer my other question. Why do you come to the games if you get such a frowny expression?
- Quadribol reminds me of a very dear person. - he said with a genuine wistful smile on his face. - Even though I hate everything about this extremely violent and unsafe game. Watching the matches refreshes my memory, but not enough to want to see a Potter and Black being badly beaten.
And with an understanding smile, Remus placed his hand at the base of her back - just so they wouldn't get lost, of course - as he led her toward the steps of the bleachers and then followed her away from the field, wasting the next thirty minutes in the Commons Hall enjoying each other's company, betting the exact moment James Potter would come in like a hurricane through the portrait, ignoring the presence of the two. Despite not being able to move around much in the stands, Remus Lupin and Jean Granger spent much of the late afternoon and early evening half cuddled on the couch in front of the fireplace, re-establishing the bond of super best friendship - a friendship with many more physical touches if it were up to the Lupine subconscious in question.

- Wouldn't that be hurting any tree protection rights? - Remus amused.
- I'm not the one hurting or attacking the tree, I'm just here as a spectator! - Hermione defended herself. - By the way, in all your time here, have you by any chance ever seen it treated by a gardener? - Hermione pondered, remembering when the Weasley's car had crashed into her in her second year.
Professor Snape had gone to a lot of trouble to get the bodywork back that night, along with Madame Hootch and Pomona Sproutch.
- I think only a couple of times... Did you know that she was almost killed once?
- Hit by a car? - She joked.
- What?
- I mean, I guess it takes an accident like that to almost kill a tree that fights with anyone who comes near it!
- Actually, it was just a very intense winter. He even kept a scarf wrapped around his trunk, out of respect.
Hermione bent her body to the side, leaning her head briefly on Remus' right shoulder, imagining the situation - but as she giggled from imagining the willow tree with a thermometer in its knot measuring its temperature, Remus froze. Wide-eyed, his breath caught in his throat. Was she really lying on his shoulder?!
Looking away, he could see that yes, she was. Should he move? Should he sigh? At least breathe again!
But with his breathing, came along Jean's scent, penetrating through his entire respiratory and cardiac system, making a....
"Yummy..." - Nosy Stupid as always allowed himself to pay attention to the conversation.
Oh my! He had stopped himself for a second before sticking his nose into the short hair of the girl next to him!
"Get a grip, SLOUTY" - Remus scolded the wolf, hearing a snort in response.
- Sorry. - Hermione realized where she was, pulling away immediately.
- No problem. - Remus replied, blushing.
- If you don't mind my asking, why did you stay here?
- Did you think I was going to leave you alone with that snotty guy? - Remus was amused, but when he saw Jean's closed expression, he realized that jokes didn't work on her. - Besides.... I didn't want to go home. My parents... They're fighting, and I didn't want to be in the middle of it all just when... I feel guilty about everything.
- Guilty, Lupin?
- I said, you can call me by my first name. - He gave a half smile.
- I like your last name, it's nice.
"Just the last name?" Moony took offense.
"With the scars you left me no one will ever think I'm handsome, you idiot."
"I a comma, you who did this to yourself trying to suppress me!"
- Caham - he huffed, focusing again on the conversation and not on his mental monologue with his other animal part - They fight a lot because of me, so I prefer not to be around, so as not to cause or feel pain.
- Nothing is your fault, Remus. - Hermione looked deep into his eyes, holding up her hands on impulse.
She hated the feeling of guilt she knew he always carried. He was a child, damn it! If there was one guilty party in that story, it was Greyback!
Remus just stared in shock at her joined hands. God, would she ever stop surprising him?! Hermione realized what she had done, but when she tried to pull her hands back, she felt him hold them tightly, preventing the movement. But Lupin had nothing to add to the conversation, he just wanted to feel the comforting touch in her hands some more, with the cool breeze hitting his face, bringing along with it Jean's scent and calming him in unthinkable ways.
He was letting someone else - and more specifically, a girl - touch him, and enjoying it.
* * *
- I didn't know your favorite chocolate, but I thought you might like this one. - Hermione passed the candy to Snape as if it were contraband when they bumped into each other in the hallway on Sunday.
- Chocolate with mint? - Severus looked at her strangely, stopping in his tracks to pay attention to her.
- Yeah, not sour, but weird enough to give you a reason to frown. - She joked, receiving a cold stare from him.
- Is this some kind of joke?
- It's not cursed, it's an Easter present, that's all!
Suspicious, Snape opened the package and broke off two pieces, handing one to her first, informing her that she would be his guinea pig. Rolling her eyes, Hermione put the candy in her mouth, making a face, being followed by him.
Who, instead of grimacing, smiled.
- It looks like I swallowed a tube of toothpaste!
- And you're happy about that?!
- It's a two-in-one chocolate, Granger! You eat it and brush your teeth in the process.
- Was that a joke?
- It was just a thank you, that's all. - He closed his expression again, but gave her the slightest smile before walking back towards the dungeon.
Just the fact that he could see she was running from those stupid Marauders and preferred to spend her time with him was a good softener for his ego.
And just as quickly as they had met, the two of them parted, each to their own corner. There were not supposed to be more than fifteen people in the school during that holiday, so that supervising the students became much easier - and gossip-worthy among the faculty, that is.
Minerva McGonagall stood at the end of the corridor, keeping an eye on her pupil. Not that she was curious, but she had already noticed that Mr. Lupin was no longer the only one the griffin girl interacted with, as now more recently Mr. Snape had become a constant in the girl's daily life. Of course Minerva as teacher and tutor was happy that little by little Jean was opening up to the reality she found herself and was making new friends, or perhaps more than friends. Was there something going on between Remus and Jean for their estrangement? The incorrigible romantic part of her wanted very much to believe so - even more so with it being a love triangle! Lupin and Snape would excuse her, but the thrill of a love story between quarrels and declarations had always attracted her, but since it wasn't her place to get involved, she could only observe Jean, and once in a while interfere, just like now.
- Jean, dear, are you all right? - Minerva intercepted her as she passed by.
- Yes, Professor. Is something wrong?
- Just checking. As head teacher of Griffin, I can't go out on holidays, unless no one from my house is staying.
- But at Christmas some people stayed...
- That was a separate situation. Principal Dumbledore took over the supervision of our house and gave me a leave of absence. Anyway, is everything all right?
- Yes, yes. I didn't used to celebrate Easter so much before, so it's just... another Sunday. A Sunday with chocolate. - Hermione gave a half smile.
- If you need to talk, you know where my room is.
- But talk about what?
- Just about anything. - And with a wink, Minerva left.
Which meant nothing to Hermione, who thought her tutor had a nervous tic in her eyes.
____________
On holidays like this one, where only a small number of students remained at school, Dumbledore usually abolished the house system and unified everyone at a single table - and this Sunday dinner was no different. However, not everyone was comfortable with the situation, preferring to stay away from each other.
- Do you mind if I sit here? - Remus asked, already sitting next to Jean.
- Would it make any difference if I said no? - Jean asked with a smile.
- Not much. - He returned it with another, setting the alert for the gossips on duty. - I haven't seen you all day.
- I was out and about, nothing very special. Have you looked for me? Do you need anything? I thought we were only going to go over the lesson plan for the tutorial on Tuesday.
- Actually, there's not much to do on holidays around here. - He shrugged. - Sirius, James and Peter aren't here and I'm already ahead of schedule with all my assignments.
- So I'm only your third choice for company? I'm disappointed, Mr. Lupin. I thought we were friends. - You teased.
- I would say fourth, since I only looked for you now in the evening and not in the afternoon.
Neither of them had noticed when the flirting had begun, but if you were to bet, it was more of a flirting situation - just like Sirius with anyone, or James with Lily at the beginning of his romantic pursuit of the redhead.
- You've been reading all afternoon, haven't you? That's why you only remembered me now.
- Studying is quite different from reading. - He shrugged.
"I think you spend too much time with boys.
- By the way, since you reminded me. I think we could take the opportunity to discuss some of the monitoring stuff later in the communal hall. - Remus couldn't help himself.
- Do we have to?
- For some reason people in my year prefer your mentoring to mine.
- I didn't realize this, but if you say so.
Their conversation was interrupted by the dinner in front of them, occupying them for the next twenty minutes. Contrary to what Sirius had said months before, Hermione didn't murder the chicken thigh with her hands, she ate it delicately even - but she had no reason to be upset and take it out on the chicken.
As the two of them got up together, one or two gossiping professors exchanged galleons of a bet not at all worthy of educators. As they passed the stairs, they had to wait five minutes until they decided to return to their original position, giving them permission to go up towards the tower, in the meantime they talked quietly as if the whole scene created by Evans had never happened and had shaken their friendship. Once in the communal hall, Remus sat down on the rug in front of the fireplace, waiting for Jean to sit down on the couch next to him.
- You know, not that many people go to the monitorship.
- But of all the three who went, two went to you.
- In contrast, the four below in seventh grade ignored me and asked you for help, and I'm not complaining about that.
The truth was that most of the people who went to talk to him were only because it was the only possibility and opening he gave them to approach him.
- Probably because they think you will jinx them. - Remus commented, pulling a chocolate bar from his coat pocket.
- And why would I do that? - Jean asked, taking the chocolate he offered her.
- You're not one of the more sociable ones, you know. - He looked at her as he bit into the candy.
- Neither are you.
- But you're different. I've been here for seven years, you've just arrived, and you still have that frown on your face. That's scary, you know?
- At least the person I wanted to scare the most, the one I wanted to scare the most, the bridge of running away with my tail between my legs, is still giving me a hard time.
- Sirius?
- That's right. How do you manage to hang out with him without going crazy? Worse, how can you eat so much chocolate and still have this body?
- This body? - He was surprised.
- Come on, don't play dumb! You don't seem to know how you... Yeah!
"She likes what she sees...?" - Moony found it strange.
- My metabolism is fast, that's all. - He shrugged trying to hide that he was slightly embarrassed both by her noticing him and by the unnecessary comment from the wolf that divided his body and clearly was the reason he kept stuffing himself with candy and never gained an ounce more.
'You're welcome.' - The wolf had the nerve to say thank you.
- Well, mine is too, and if I don't control myself, I'll win very quickly.
- I don't think... I think you're fine the way you are, it's just your hair that I have my disagreements with, but you already know that. - Remus said without thinking, stuffing a giant piece of chocolate into his mouth to keep himself occupied.
- Was that a compliment? - Hermione was amused.
- I only returned what you said before, but I really preferred your long curls.
- Thank you, Hermione. For the compliment and well... for liking my curls.
* * *
As fast as it came, the easter holiday was over, and as far as our couple "friends" were concerned it was as if all the misunderstanding of Valentine's Day hadn't happened, Hermione and Remus went back to talking quietly, exchanging books of common interest, preparing the tutoring classes and when they didn't study together it was because Remus was with the Rascals while Jean was in the library with a certain sonserino.
Saturday had arrived once again and naturally the morning was busy with the various groups of students coming and going from their tour of Hogsmeade! Hermione had left early, intending to buy some new feathers, since hers had mysteriously appeared enchanted the previous afternoon, just writing...
"Sirius Black is a handsome fellow"
"Sirius Black is calling you to go out next weekend"
"My dream is to go out with Sirius Black"
"Why does the pretty girl pay attention to nerdy Lupin and not Sirius Black?"
She had to admit, Sirius had style - he even managed to get a smile out of her with that tactic (followed by a celebration a la Pele and Galvão Bueno at the 1998 World Cup final when the older man noticed her smile in the communal room). But although she found the gesture funny, Hermione couldn't hand in her assignments with those sayings - how funny would it be for Professor Binns to receive an essay with only invitations to leave Sirius?
Making sure to leave her feather case well away from the naughty ones, Hermione slipped into the local bookstore, spending the next fifty minutes lost in thought, just perusing the new titles.
- Why isn't it a surprise to find you here? - Snape blinked as he pulled a book from the shelf and bumped into her.
- Probably because this is my natural habitat.
- A complete library pussy. - He replied in a sour voice, causing Hermione to look strangely at him, only to see Malfoy walking past them.
Which meant nothing, since he was more interested in wooing Narcisa Black than anything else.
- Since you insist on it... -Hermione shrugged, ignoring the sonserino, if he wanted to be her friend away from the eyes of others she wouldn't mind, it wasn't anyone's "dirty little secret"!
-Problems? - A third voice chimed in beside her.
Remus and Peter had arrived a few minutes ago only to hear the slight cursing.
- Why would I? - she wondered. Okay, Snape's tone when he called her a "Library rat" was anything but cordial, but she was a library rat and proud of it, so she would let herself be taken aback.
- Isn't that snotty guy bothering you? - Peter, who was not even in the bookstore of his own volition, made himself present, holding up his nose.
Oh, he hadn't done that.... Until then Hermione had treated him as politely as she would any other student at school, she kept reminding herself that he was still a normal person, a good friend of the rascals who hadn't yet betrayed them like the real rat he was. But calling Snape by that ridiculous nickname for no reason had given her every possible reason to disdain him, at least for the moment.
But she remembered that Remus had also called Severus that.
Gee, this floor is dirty, isn't it? You'd better give it a good wipe, that's for sure.
- Sorry, what?
- Snot...
- I heard perfectly well what you said, I just don't understand what or who you're referring to.
- Snape. - Remus translated uncomfortably, realizing how annoyed the girl was now with them.
- If you want to refer to him, call him by his last name, not by unnecessary nicknames. And no, I haven't had anyone bothering me so far. - She pointed out, and the next second she saw Lily walk through the doorway, which caused both her and Snape, who was still in the next hallway, to shiver. - If you'll excuse me.
She quickly left, or rather fled, the establishment - Hermione intended to hide from the redhead as long as she could after all the misunderstanding on Valentine's Day. Not that she thought Lily was going to make any little jokes about her and Lupin or anything, but she wanted to avoid any uncomfortable talk about apologies or anything like that. Hermione knew that the older girl hadn't meant any harm, it was actually a big misunderstanding, but running away seemed much easier than facing the redhead who insisted that she should get out of her bubble and make friends with the other girls she shared the dorm with...
Remus, on the other hand, had misinterpreted the whole situation. In his perception, Jean had left because she was really upset with the way he and Peter had treated Snape. That is, he who was already annoyed by Sirius' last attempt to get the girl's attention, was now infinitely more unhappy for having disappointed the witch. Come on, just when he thought he had succeeded in catching the attention of a pretty girl, Sirius went and tried and succeeded before him! Worse, even Snape had been defended by her! He was not happy about that at all.
"GO AFTER HER!" - Moony imposed his opinion, moving his legs and sending him after her.
He didn't have to walk very far, as soon as he left the bookstore leaving Peter with Lily and James he managed to spot her at the end of the street passing just followed her to .... House of Screams. Well, this was probably the first time he had seen her in the village, so it was only fair that she went there to see the famous haunted house... He just hoped she wouldn't be curious about the screams, since the person responsible (Him) had been trying to be noticed by her for a long time - he definitely didn't want it to be in the context of: "Hi, is I'm the reason people think the house is haunted because once a month I turn into a beast with claws and fangs that likes to howl at the moon." Ignoring his mental outburst he took a deep breath to build courage and ease the tension before getting the girl's attention.
- Is everything all right, Jean?
- Why wouldn't I be? - She didn't look at him.
- It's not like you to leave like that.
- If I had stayed, you would either have started a duel with Snape in the middle of the store, or Evans would have come to disturb me. Since I wanted neither, I left.
- Does she annoy you that much? - Remus didn't like the way he felt cringe at that idea.
- Doesn't she annoy you? It would be the same if you started pestering me that I was dating Snape, or worse, Malfoy. - She had been thinking about Draco at that moment, she admitted. I mean, not that she is this matchmaking or pushy person. I know she is a wonderful person, but she is trying very hard to get me to fit in with people and any sign of any interaction I have with any other student or pupil she turns into a huge happy thing
Every statement about a possible flirtation with Snape or Malfoy irritated Moony a little, so much so that Remus himself barely paid attention to the end of the girl's statement as he was trying to convince the wolf that eating snakes was not healthy at all.
- Can I ask you a question? - Hermione roused Remus from his bubble.
- He just did.
- What do you have against Snape?
- I have nothing against him, exactly..." She began to say, remembering not to call the boy a snot. - He is a sonserino who insists on mocking, even if not as openly as the other snakes, any Griffinian. And, well, after the whole situation with Lily in fifth year... I don't know if you know, but... In short, they were best friends until he said horrible things to her! So I can't tolerate guys like him on principle. Not to mention the company he keeps. It seems that I have a lot of things against him...
It wasn't as if Hermione had an answer for the situation, she herself knew how horrible it was to be called a bad blood, so it wasn't as if she could defend Snape in that sense. And the Griffinian-Sonserine implications were a rivalry as old as time, meaning both sides were wrong and unless someone decided to be an adult in the situation and put an end to those implications nothing would be solved. But soon her contemplative silence was interrupted when Remus turned to her.
- That's why I don't like him! - said the boy as if he had just discovered the real reason for his dislike of the Sonserine. - He hangs out with Avery, Mulciber, Malfoy, and Black, and if you haven't noticed, all of them are the offspring of dinosaurs!
- Sirius is also a Black and the son of a diner, and frankly I don't see either you or James becoming one. - Hermione let it slip, losing her color after the quick realization that she had left Peter out of her statement.
A fact that Remus, thank God, didn't notice.
- But they are diners, diners, Hermione! - Remus said his real name, low and exasperated. - The ones who destroyed your village, killed your parents and friends! The same ones who sent you here, made you need to change your name and... e.... cut your hair! - He spoke louder the last part, putting too much emphasis on his haircut than on everything else.
- It's just hair, Remus! - Hermione was already a little annoyed that he was insisting so much on this and wanted to divert the subject from anything about her "dead" parents or the attack of diners on her "village".
- Very nice hair! - His voice had come out a little huskier, with a golden glow quickly passing through his eyes.
"MOONY!" - Remus scolded the wolf, who was struggling to be heard since he had realized that all that arguing between Jean and her human part was certainly heading for a fight. Their first fight, by the way.
- Lupin, honestly... - Jean shook her head negatively, holding back from rolling her eyes. - If you're really going to give me a hard time about my friendship choices, I might as well do the same.
- What do you mean by that?
- You say I can't hang out with Snape because of what he's done to Lily in the past and because he's friends with "proto" dinosaurs, but you forget that you're not in a good situation yourself. If you really want me to stay away from Snape, I'll do it.
The smile began to grow on Remus' face, only to be interrupted with a
- But only if you stay away from James. - She would have liked to include Sirius in the speech by mentioning when the boy had set Severus up to go to the screaming house on a full moon where he could have died! But in theory she didn't know that so she wouldn't say anything.
- What? What does this have to do with anything?
-You complain so much about him calling Lily a Bad Blood, but you forget that he only did that after being hung upside down with no pants in the middle of the garden! By the way, why didn't you stop them?! You can't dislike people to the point of being irrelevant in matters like that!
- He told you...
- It wasn't only you who tried hard to keep me away from someone potentially dangerous. - he joked.
Remus took a deep breath, processing all of this. He couldn't, he just couldn't do that for just one girl, even if she was the most amazing, intelligent, beautiful girl he had ever met. James was his brother, the one who knew his secret and wouldn't give up his friendship even if it meant befriending a monster.
- I'm sorry, Granger. I can't do this.
- I know, that's exactly why I won't stay away from Snape either. They both made mistakes, but that doesn't mean they can't get a second chance and change for the better. James did it for Lily and I believe Snape just needs a little better friends. After all, as you pointed out, the company he keeps is dubious to say the least, but that doesn't mean he is evil. I'm not asking you to approach him and invite him over for tea, I'm just asking you not to worry about it.
- But I do worry about you! - he let slip, watching Jean's body tensing immediately. - I mean, you are my friend, and you are clearly associating with witches who will surely become the same as... those who took everything from you.
Indeed they would, but it would take them twenty years to do so.
- Remus, I'm not marrying him, just studying together. But if it worries you so much, I think you should start reviewing your list of friendships as soon as possible. - she said, turning her back to the boy.
Remus didn't know what to do when he saw her leave. He hated her disappointed tone, disappointed in him and his friends. And worse, he didn't know how to fix it, he couldn't just walk away from his best friends to defend his point of view, after all he himself knew that wasn't what Jean wanted when she forced the topic. But he also couldn't stop worrying about her and the risk she was taking by getting close to Snape and consequently other sonserinos who could be a real risk to her!
James' fights with Lily seemed much more fun, mainly because they were settled in the next second. Why couldn't his fight with Jean be the same way? He asked himself as he walked back to the village alone.
"It wouldn't be bad at all to get a reconciliation kiss" - Moony opined, remembering how James and Lily's fights were resolved.
Remus just laughed defeatedly, considering that lately the Wonder Couple's heated fights ended in a public spat, but Jean was just a friend?
No, she was definitely more than that! She was his best friend! And maybe... Anyway, he just wanted to work it out with her as soon as possible.
They needed to work it out!

4.The one of the birthday
Anyway, March had arrived!
It was less than three months to the end of school, but it also meant that nearly a month had passed since the Valentine's Day disaster. I mean, disaster in parts and just for a few people, as James and Lily couldn't be happier in their passionate bubble, not to mention the redhead wouldn't give up on the idea that Remus and Granger were a potential couple, they couldn't be still, but if it were up to her the four would soon have a double date! It had taken at least four days for Hermione to speak fearlessly to Remus again, and at least a week for Remus to stop treating Lilly with vengeful indifference, which unfortunately for them had only reinforced the absurd idea of a possible crush even further. in Lily's head.
So the ninth of March had arrived and with it the eighteen years of Remus! Unfortunately, it fell on the first day of the full moon, but luckily they would have a total eclipse that night, which meant…
- PARTY AT THE SHRIEKING SHACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A night just among the marauders, completely free of a curious and violent werewolf breaking free and running across the school grounds. Despite loathing the lunar cycle, Remus Lupine loved eclipses. When an eclipse was in the sky, Moony fell asleep inside him practically disappearing, making the wizard feel completely human - if only for a few hours.
No naughty whispers, no chocolate stuff, and no sharp senses!
Just him, a somewhat shy, scarred teenager who allowed himself to live a little.
Although the party was only later, none of them had shown up for dinner in the great hall that night - which in itself had been reason enough to make Minerva's hair stand on end. Everyone knows that professors love to gossip about students' lives and this was no different at Hogwarts, so of course Professor McGonagall had noticed the closeness between Jean and Remus during tutoring. So with the excuse of asking Miss Granger to try to stop any potential madness the marauders were planning, he called the student into his office as soon as she had finished her dinner:
- Oh, is today his birthday?
- Naturally, that's why I imagine he and his roommates are up to it like a Bunch of Silly Baboons.
Hermione, for her part, couldn't hide her laughter, she still remembered the dance lessons she had taken in fourth year for the Winter Ball where Minerva had made that same criticism of the Gryffindor students. So the girl wondered if the marauders had been the first to hear such endearing adjectives. The older witch seeing the student's laugh also smiled.
- I see that you have become very close to Mr. Lupin, a fine boy, I must say.
- Teacher, I'm not for that much… We are a good pair… Working! I mean, we work well together, in monitoring! - She replied embarrassed, wanting to run away from the subject as she was running from Lilian.
- Honey, don't waste the opportunities that Cupid presents to you. - And suddenly the teacher's eyes became very melancholy and hurt. - I once met a young witch as promising as you. Extremely intelligent and dedicated to studies. She met a guy who shared her same sense of humor, he was the only one who could debate as fiercely and passionately as she… Before the girl knew he was on his knees proposing marriage and she accepted. The teacher's melancholy smile was more than enough for Hermione to know that it wasn't just any student's story she was telling.
- Teacher despite whatever my heart dares to feel. And I don't say he feels anything about the matter of Mr Lupcough cough.” He coughed uncomfortable with everything the teacher was inferring. - Well what I mean is that under the circumstances in which I find myself… The way I came here. I couldn't… I simply wouldn't dare. I mean, it's too risky!
- And what I mean, Jean is that I don't want that story to repeat itself. Like you, she had a thousand and one very plausible and rational reasons to break off the engagement what she did. However, when she realized that as far as the heart, love, or even mere affection and camaraderie were concerned, it was not rationality that should have been heard, it was too late!
Hermione didn't know how to respond, despite all her embarrassment with Lily on Valentine's Day she had never looked at Remus in that way! Yes they were good friends, got along well together and could talk about anything for hours and hours. Of course she found his shy way cute in an adorable way like a needy pet, and she sure enjoyed Lupine's chocolate addiction, but she never looked at him as anything other than a housemate. By Merlin, she often had to remember that he wasn't her teacher but a teenager like her! But love, affection?
Seeing that the student was clearly confused, Minerva turned away from the subject and went back to inquiring about the possible pranks the Gryffindor quartet might be planning. But if even Jean didn't know what they were up to, McGonagall could only hope that Bunch of Silly Baboons Baboons didn't do any damage to her school! Dismissing the student right away, stating that she needed to correct some parchments for the next transfiguration class for sophomores.
Hermione, still shaken by the previous conversation, left, but soon stopped at the door, turning hesitantly towards the teacher.
- Teacher… If I may ask. What happened to your student and the guy she turned down?
- Naturally they went their separate ways. I understand she has taken on an important position in the ministry of magic. And he... found a new someone to love...
- I… I'm sorry teacher.
- Me too, Jean, but it's late now. Go back to the dorm if I won't be forced to give you detention. - The teacher joked, but Hermione couldn't help but hear the melancholy tone in the witch's words.
* * *
Contrary to what Minerva thought, the only damage the quartet would do would be to their own bodies. Come on, it was Lupine's birthday and more than that it was his night of sobriety about the wolf that shared his body! It was obvious that they would get drunk until tomorrow!
The four met on the second floor of the screaming house near eight-thirty at night, with them having prepared a nice little party for their werewolf friend: lots of fire whiskey, a chocolate cake, butterbeer, thousands of sweets from Fingers of Honey not to mention a mini feast smuggled straight from the kitchen of Hogwarts, after all the house elves adored James and Sirius. And of course a small bottle of water - since Peter liked to hydrate between a glass and another - the only sensible one in the group that night. All three were moved by the birthday boy's happiness, noticing how the daily weight had disappeared from Remus' back, being ridiculously lighter.
- And what are we waiting for? - With that sentence James started the night's celebrations.
Drinks over there, cakes over here when they saw it, it was past ten at night and everyone was irrevocably drunk. It had been at least six glasses of whiskey for Sirius, with Remus finishing up his fifth - which was already more than a little more than ideas after three bottles of butterbeer.
- Does Audrey know the reason for her disappearance, Peter? - James asked as he chewed on a chicken leg.
- Just I was celebrating the birthday of one of you.
Audrey Flint was the Slytherin who had sent Peter the little Valentine's card, and who had surprisingly been dating her ever since.
- Remus, even Peter has a girlfriend. When are you going to get one? You know I don't care about gender as long as he or she knows that marauders are their priority! - Sirius asked, nudging the werewolf beside him.
"Lily said it won't be long before he and Granger assume something." - James delivered his girlfriend.
- That's not it! Jean and I are just... friends? - Remus asked embarrassed, but at the mention of Jean rather than the clear questioning of his partner preferences. The truth is, Lupine didn't know if he was in the position of Granger's friends or colleagues at that point in the championship. The relationship was weird since Valentine's Day, at times it seemed that nothing had changed while at others Moony was a real busybody!
- If even that you know what they are. It's definitely lost!
- If they're not friends they can definitely be something else. - Peter nudged, liking the way Remus was starting to turn red and bewildered.
"The way you treated Lily after Valentine's Day just shows how much you're into her, Remus." - James insisted.
- No, no, NO! - Remus managed to deny it. - You got it all wrong! Jean and I would never work, you know I can't….
- I bet you're denying it like that because you don't know how to kiss. - Peter threw more wood into the fire.
- Of course I know how to kiss! - Remus was insulted.
That was partly true, as she'd had her first kiss two years earlier, also in an eclipse, when she'd allowed herself to experience a kiss that night. It had been at a Gryffindor party and had been no more than a smacking of lips, and since then he'd never come close to anyone else's mouth.
- A little kiss does not count as knowing how to kiss! - Sirius accused his friend, turning to him.
- And how do you expect me to learn then?! You know I don't…
Sirius didn't let his colleague finish, with a roguish grin he pulled Remus' neck towards him.
- Like this. - Whispered in his friend's ear, having fun when he saw the same shiver, approaching his body more and more.
In a second their lips were joined, with Black initiating an agitated kiss. He knew his friend had no experience, he had the vague memory in his drunken memory of Lupin describing how shameful and awkward that peck had been two years ago - so it had started slowly, but not having much patience and being clearly upset, he deepened the kiss without blinking. Then he opened his mouth hungrily, forcing his tongue against Remus' mouth, who surprisingly had given way and not only that, but was also trying to match his roommate's reckless rhythm.
After all, if it was in the rain, it was to get wet!
Mimicking Sirius' movements, Remus also held the brunet's neck possessively, intensifying the movements of his lips - adrenaline rushing through him. Their tongues tangled and wrestled and caressed, all to the sound of Peter's laughter and the shocked spit of James who had just put another glass of whiskey in his mouth when his friends began kissing furiously. It wasn't his fault he got scared and spit it all out at Peter!
But just as slowly as it started, the kiss ended.
- See if you learn and do it right with Granger. Sirius fixed his hair. - And if she doesn't want to, I'll always be here for you, monny! - He stated provocatively as he turned another glass.
- At least she won't have a beard itching. - Remus implied joining in the joke. - Can you tell me how you're still alone?
- There is no woman for me at Hogwarts. - Sirius declared, just like Xuxa Meneghel, where there were no men for her in Brazil.
* * *
All marauders were completely rotten, miserable, destroyed and finished.
All but Peter, who wisely interspersed the whiskey with generous doses of water, being the one who drank the least at the party - having a preference for chocolate cake. Sirius was down on the infirmary (he had the greatest resistance to alcohol, but even he overreacted); James was clinging to the toilet in Gryffindor, Peter was cheerful and bouncy with his Audrey, while Remus exploded with a headache. His eyes were sunken, his head seemed to be being poked by five drills as runaway ambulances pulled up to his ear - all with Moony barking furiously at being repelled last night by the "unnatural and evil" eclipse (words of the Wolf).
At least her swollen system from Moony's presence had minimized the seasickness effects, but the migraine remained like a sledgehammer on an anvil.
A bad mood had irrevocably seized Lupin. From the first dawn of the day Remus was IM-PRA-TI-Cable, being almost the human and rabid version of Moony, threatening to stupefy the next one who made noise in front of him. At least in the morning, since after lunch the sobriety potions began to take effect, turning him once again into a Pomeranian lulu and no longer a rabid pinscher.
At least that afternoon he could rest peacefully, as no one even went to the prefects! His plan was a quiet, undisturbed nap!
"You know, you might as well practice those licks with Jean, instead of pretending to be lazy" - Moony spoke like someone who didn't want anything when they were alone, going to the prefect.
- Licks…? - Remus was confused.
But Moony was prepared for that, immediately projecting memories of the night before - causing Remus to trip over his own feet at the sight and feel of Sirius' mouth and beard against his face.
THEY HAD DONE WHAT?!
“Nothing against what you prefer, but I think Jean more…. intriguing"
- Remus? Is everything OK? - Hermione asked after noticing the pale state that the ex-teacher arrived in the transfiguration room.
And it was when Remus' eyes focused on the girl that his face went up in flames, still moved by Moony's suggestion. THAT MEDDING WOLF!
"Just slightly drunk…" He replied, crawling to his seat, sitting down comfortably while putting his backpack as a pillow.
- Drunk?! I don't think Minerva was counting on it! - She laughed.
- Are you her new spy, Jean? Before it was Lily who was our probation officer. Befriended me just to watch over James and Sirius? - Remus joked, settling into his wallet.
- I don't know if that was her real intention, but it felt like it to me last night when she called me in her office to talk about... How did she say? Ah yes, "silly baboons babbling in a pack"!.
- There is! Professor Minerva has always been the most creative at Hogwarts! - The witcher laughed, soon regretting it when his head began to throb again and he moaned in discontent.
- What made you drunk so far?
- I had a birthday.
- Congratulations? Hermione asked, undecided by the deplorable state of the boy beside her.
He nodded gratefully, then tucked his head back into his backpack.
- Thanks, but would you mind holding the butts without me today? I put up with all day waiting for that nap.
Hermione just nodded, patting her light brown hair in congratulation, not seeing Moony squirm happily in the mind of Remus, a real needy puppy.
However, just that day, a living being appeared at the monitor in search of clearing up his doubts about the last transfiguration class of the seventh year, regretting it the moment he saw who was the monitor of his class.
Severus Snape would not stoop to the point of asking one of the marauders what things, no matter how trivial! Even though the rascal in question was almost drooling over his backpack by now.
- Can I help you? Hermione asked, noticing Snape's intention to turn around and leave.
- Do you know the content of the seventh year or just this wolf project? - Asked mockingly as he indicated with his chin the Gryffindor passed out.
- You'd be surprised what I know. - Retorted defiantly. She had almost changed her mind when Severus implied knowing that Remus was a wolf, but quickly remembered that he had almost died because of Remus, or rather because of Sirius who played a more than unfortunate prank on the Slytherin. His challenge did not find deaf ears.
Threat, warning, knowledge and... flirting? The girl's challenge reached every possible sense, although Severus very much doubted the latter.
Well, Snape had a mirror in the bedroom, and even if he didn't, he was reminded of his questionable appearance all the time. Jean might have publicly rejected Sirius Black, but he would never look at someone like him, so there was no chance of it being a lame excuse to kiss in the nearest broom closet - although the idea was not repulsive to him, and well he even thought it was Very pretty.
Hermione thought he must be very desperate to actually accept her help, after all she was a year younger, muggleborn (not that he knew of) and Gryffindor. She actually thought he would refuse her help because she was a Gryffindor, but here he was snorting discontent as he sat at a desk and indicated the chair across from him an unquestionable invitation.
At the end of it all Snape had been impressed by how smart the girl was. He suspected even more than that drooling Siberian husky snoring a few wallets away. But Severus' joy was short-lived, as in the middle of the explanation another individual immensely more undesirable than the slime project sprang up in the classroom.
- HEY, SNOTTY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEAR HER?! - Sirius forgot his hangover to make trouble in defense of the girl one of his best friends was clearly interested in, waking Remus in the process.
- I don't see your name on it, Black! Snape shot back, making Hermione arch an eyebrow. Since when has she become a reason for egos?
Indifferent on the outside, but laughing on the inside, Hermione allowed herself to agree that that tirade had been good, very good. Maybe even enough to forget one or two reprimands Snape had given him in the future.
Was Sirius this annoying always? If she ever made it back, she wouldn't stop complaining to Harry about her friend's godfather's impossible behavior at school.
- What makes you think you can come here, snotty?! Get closer to us….
- As far as I know, here is a classroom at Hogwarts, in pre-service time for the transfiguration subject.
- If you have any doubts, ask someone of your level. - Sneered.
Hermione was terribly offended. He had called her stupid, for being a year younger! But she soon realized that it would make more sense that Sirius was referring to the fact that it wasn't a death eater project. Or something like this?
- I would, but the creature in question is sleeping during working hours. Should I report this slip to Professor McGonagall?
Sirius even managed to pull out his wand and cast a spell, but Hermione was quicker and threw a stream of water at him.
- Unpleasant. I hate the smell of wet dogs. - Snape teased once more.
- ENOUGH! - He interfered by talking to both of them. - What are you doing here, Black?
- Is it forbidden to visit my friends now?!
- That's when he threatens another student!
- You mean you agree that you are my friend! - He wasted no time, giving a wink being promptly responded with another jet of water.
- If you do not mind? - She said turning to Severus who kept his victorious smile in front of the soaked Gryffindor. - Would you like us to finish our monitoring elsewhere? Hermione asked Snape, who readily agreed, following the short-haired girl to the library. Where she had a private class in the subject, at least as far as Jean knew, after all she was a year younger, as much as she knew a lot about seventh grade content, that wasn't all. Surprisingly the Slytherin completed the gaps without any mockery or contempt for her making the time together really enjoyable.
Confused, Remus watched the girl depart with the stateroom Slytherin, confused and somewhat irritated with Sirius for making her leave.
- I think it's better you do it right with her! - Sirius warned him. - Or sooner or later she may fall for that venomous snake's tricks! Or better yet, in my charms! - He joked.
- Padfoot, she is more likely to date Snape than to date you, I would say until she marries him and has five children and eighteen cats. - Remus chuckled, relieved the kiss between them hadn't been a big deal.
Just brother's things, you know!
- Since you are missing the magnificent chance to be with me, I say with propriety, from someone who has a lot of experience, that you have more chances than him.
- Chances of what? She's just a friend, coworker at best. Besides, she's afraid of canines.
- Well… that's bad for both of us, Moony. - Sirius spoke to the werewolf, who just sighed in Remus' mind.
“I wish I were a fish…”

Summary:

Unable to go back to his time, his only chance for survival is to adapt to the late 70s and get on with his life, interfering as little as possible so that the future does not fall apart.
However, everything goes downhill when Remus John Lupine starts to notice too much the new girl who clearly wanted to go unnoticed by Hogwarts.

But that didn't stop him from receiving cards.
Annoyed, Sirius just snorted and went on his way. How long had it been since he had kissed on the mouth? Did you give a measly peck? More than he would have liked! But hope was the last to die and even though he was not Brazilian, he never gave up! And speaking of never giving up…. Here was his chance sitting on the lawn next to the Quidditch pitch!
Remus froze in place as he realized where his friend was headed. Was it serious that even on Valentine's Day Sirius left Hermi-Jean alone?! Lupine just wanted to disappear, he didn't want her to think he had something to do with all that, but at the same time…
Jean, in turn, just wanted some time in peace, to get away from all that mess of flowers and chocolates, resorting to the last place she would go of her own free will: the Quidditch pitch. Not literally him, as it was closed at times when there were no practices or games, but the area close to him. Sitting at the opening of the field to the castle, she was coexisting with one particular Slytherin who appeared to be as immersed in the books as she was.
She just wanted peace, but then Black showed up.
Jean seriously considered running into Snape's arms and coming up with some excuse for him to get her out of there - but if he did that right then Sirius would pester them and still fight the poor snake whose natural state was a bad mood.
- Granger! Do you come here a lot? My practices are only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. - Sirius played charm, ignoring her eye roll.
- I'm glad I'm very busy on that day and time.
- Come on, Granger! Why be alone even on Valentine's Day?
- I say the same about you. Wasn't it supposed to be surrounded by suitors?
- Not when I only have eyes for one. Do you want to go out with me today?
Remus was stunned. He didn't know why, but he was very interested in how it turned out.
- Only if you close your eyes first. - Jean blinked her eyes primly and spoke shyly, implying that she would kiss him first.
Euphoric as he was, Sirius didn't notice the real signs. Closing his eyes and pouting his mouth, he didn't notice when Jean grimaced and rolled her eyes, pulling her wand out of her bag and sending a flurry of nervous birds at him.
- OH, OH, OH! THIS IS WORSE THAN PAPERS! - Sirius tried to protect himself, seeing no other solution if he didn't run away.
"Ha-ha…" Severus Snape let out a laugh, amused by Black's love affair, but returned to his mask of disinterest when he noticed that the brunette and the two remaining Gryffindors were looking at him equally amused.
The Slytherin, who had already been left hanging upside down with his pants down, felt minimally vindicated. Of course the birds didn't come close to the rematch he'd like, but it was a start.
And if on the one hand Severus smiled, on the other Peter and Remus laughed.
- I wonder if one day he will still manage to get married. Even the newcomer didn't care for him! - Said Wormtail.
Remus didn't respond to his friend, too busy snuggling up to his prefect who just responded with a friendly wink, then went back to his books. And Remus was betting 10 Galleons that she was rereading “Hogwarts: A History” once more.
***
A few hours later Remus found himself sitting at his usual desk in the transfiguration room, prepared for the tutoring time. This was supposed to be the fourth week of help, but mysteriously no living soul had set foot in that room at the specific time.
He seriously suspected that the students would only show up the day before exams, desperate for first-period subjects, while Hermione was already betting that no one would actually show up. Come on, it was the weird newbie and scarred Gryffindor guy! WHO would dare to step foot in the monitoring?
Exactly, no one.
And with that in mind, he settled into his seat and waited patiently, noticing from his wristwatch that his colleague was five, ten, fifteen minutes late. Had something happened? Had the would-be diners surrounded her? Or would she be on a date?
"Then I'm the curious one..." - Moony barked in his head, embarrassing him.
It didn't matter, he wasn't interested. Even because, it wouldn't have been a blunder of her not to show up and not warn him - since there wasn't even work since no student showed up to answer any questions. But if you were that curious, just ask her, who had just walked through the door with a smug smile on her face.
- MS. Granger, did something happen? - Remus asked in an amused and curious tone.
- Let's say yes. I'm sorry I was late.
- Did someone ask you out?
Hermione was shocked by the direct question, but knowing his background would probably be no big deal, just a bad sentence formulation.
- You know it did, and you know very well what happened too.
- Made him angrier than usual. The poor man had just suffered multiple paper cuts when he was pecked by all those birds. Cool spell, where did you learn it?
- Let's say…. Sirius wasn't the first to receive my flock of birds. Do you know if he ratted me out to Minerva?
- No, why?
“I was called to her office to hear a lecture about how I shouldn't hurt my classmates with magic when they're unprepared, but I think she liked that. As the only ones who saw it were you, Pettigrew, him and Snape. And I doubt Snape created any sense of justice for you….
- It was either him or Peter. I honestly don't think it was Peter, he has nothing against you.
In fact, out of all four, Wormtail was the one who paid the least attention to the girl - whether she bewitched Sirius or not was irrelevant when he laughed at the flying papers himself. Hermione, on the other hand, couldn't reciprocate the sentence and say that there was nothing against the smallest one either. In an attempt to go off on a tangent, she preferred to change the course of the conversation:
- Is that you? Did you receive an invitation?
She just doesn't expect his embarrassed look, as if she's ashamed of it.
- Come on, don't look like that….
- It's not that, I… I got some cards. Three, from different people. And chocolates.
- And isn't that cool?
- Not when I can't repay any of them...
"I didn't know you were already engaged, professor…" Hermione spoke more to herself, leaving the boy confused.
As far as he could remember, he didn't wear a ring on his finger when he taught her, but he was still a teenager… Maybe he had a girlfriend back in high school… he began to ponder getting lost in the future.
- I'm not committed, but I also don't want to get involved with anyone. I believe that…. Studies are more important. But what about you, teacher?
"I don't think it's for that much..." Hermione tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, embarrassed by the question and especially noticing her slip in referring to the teenager as if they were in 1993 and not 1978.
- And what makes you believe that I would also be a teacher? Remus asked with a crooked smile.
And a silence dominated the room. Flushed and eyes downcast, Hermione tried not to freak out that she'd let the fact that he would be a real teacher slip away - while at the same time Remus felt his heart flutter nervously at the possibility that she'd interpreted it as flirting.
- Well, anyway I signed under your thought! About studies, I say!
- Is that why you run away from Sirius so much?
- Oh, save me! I don't need reasons to run away from Sirius, have you seen how he flirts? Even someone with the emotional level of a teaspoon can be less…. He!
Remus chuckled. Jean was absolutely right about that.
"It's not that I don't want to get involved with anyone, but after all that has happened, and with the availability of options that exist here in the castle…" She rolled her eyes.
- No one is your type? - He was curious again.
Determined to abandon thoughts of the future and feeling confident, Hermione sat down next to Remus at the same table as him, asking for more space with her thigh - their biggest interaction so far! And as she pulled out her potions notebook to review, Lupine pulled a bar of chocolate from his cloak pocket, breaking it into tiny pieces.
- Accepted?
- What are the chances of you using me as a guinea pig for amortentia?
Remus smiled.
- My guinea pigs are not available today, would you mind? Besides, I have a lot of chocolate here.
Hermione remembered the day on the express, sophomore year. Professor Lupine had a huge bar of chocolate in his pocket and on second thought, he had no way of predicting the appearance of dementors. He must have been a chocoholic.
- I would love to, but if I eat now I won't be able to have dinner.
- Ah… - He was embarrassed. - Later then?
- I don't see why not.
***
Lilly couldn't be happier!
This was the first Valentine's Day he'd spent with anyone, and even though he'd only been with James for a few months, he'd turned out to be a completely different person than he'd been in years past. He had matured for her! Of course it wasn't like Lily wanted James, the romantic boyfriend, to be giving flowers and petting to the Slytherin would-be diners, but for him not looking for more fights it was a victory! Before the fateful day with Sev….Snape, they already overreact with bullying any Slytherin, even the youngest ones who weren't even purists. And for the redhead that rogue behavior was as reprehensible as any friend-person who called another person bad blood. That's why she refused James so many times, only accepting when he made the promise that he would change what he had actually done.
The past no longer mattered. Nothing that day could or would spoil his good mood. Although they didn't have dinner in the Great Hall, they ate by the black lake. James had ordered a nice picnic basket from the kitchens, spending that moment alone with his lily, exchanging all the kisses he'd managed before the giant squid got sick of all the molasses and splashed them with water.
Although slightly wet - I wouldn't say where - Lilly was beaming! However, they had to get back to the common room in time for her to change to go on her night watch. And when the couple arrived at the common room, they were faced with a vision of a Sirius, completely sullen and covered in... Band aids colored with pets? That was definitely not normal.
- Moony by chance decided to use you as a scratcher? James questioned his friend, disentangling himself from Lilly to check on his roommate's status.
- Humph…! - Sirius huffed in anger, shifting in his chair by the fire and grunting in pain from his bruises. - If he had tried I would have finished him, that yes!
- Where's Peter? - Lilly was surprised at his absence.
- On a date.
James and Lily looked at each other in shock.
- But who did this to you?
- His girlfriend, yes!
- Peter's girlfriend?
- No, from your other friend.
- Padfoot, Remus doesn't have a girlfriend...
- Oh no? So how do you explain that over there? - Sirius pointed to the other side of the Hall, indicating a Jean sitting in the worn armchair with Indian legs, eating the chocolate that Remus absently gave her.
Remus, sitting on the floor at the far end of the room, was laughing at something Jean said, breaking a few more pieces of chocolate which he then placed in the girl's hand. James didn't know how to feel. He wasn't shocked, just… happy. In all those years Remus Lupine had never been relaxed like that with anyone but the rascals and now Lily. In fact, he'd never been alone with a girl for so long, let alone laughing happily like that.
- Sirius, we need to celebrate, that's right! Can't you see how well he is?!
- Say it for yourself! I just asked her out and she cursed me! I had to go report to McGonagall for help!
- Oh, stop being dramatic, man! Can't be happy for Remus a minu…..Lilly?
But the redhead had already approached the couple, bursting their bubble.
- That's amazing, Remus! - She declared when she was close enough.
- I haven't eaten anything with amortentia? - He asked confused with the sentence of the redhead, not noticing Jean's body change.
- Also, but you guys are dating is so cute! I can finally go on double dates! What do you think?
- Sorry, dating? - Jean choked on the chocolate he was eating.
- Yeah, Sirius who told you. Why did you just tell him, Remus? And you, Jean! Now I won't need any more excuses to bring you closer!
- Ahhh... I, well I... Excuse me! Hermione didn't say or do anything else, just handed the candy bar back to Remus and got up, walking as fast as she could to her room, disappearing into the night.
- EVANS! Remus scolded the redhead, visibly irritated. - Why did I say that?! - His high tone mingling with Lilly's last name had drawn James' attention there, who, ignoring his injured friend, went to his girlfriend's rescue.
- What happened, Remus?
- Tell your girlfriend to stop trying to insinuate things in front of Jean, please! Sharing a chocolate is not synonymous with dating!
- But you were…
- Far away from each other, just talking! How many times have I not given you chocolate, Lilly?!
- Whenever you ask, love. - James defended the werewolf.
- And even so we're not dating! Are you aware of how long it took Jean to feel comfortable talking to me, especially publicly?
Remus was right to be that way. She was the first real friend he had ever made, and she loved the feeling of having a girl with whom to spend time, eat chocolate, laugh, study….

2.The one with the haircut
The December twenty-first had finally arrived, and as most of the castle boarded the carriages for the express, Hermione finished packing her bag with what few belongings she had. Minerva had informed the previous day that they would not spend the holiday at the castle that year.
- Finally I have someone to take to my sister-in-law's party, I won't miss this chance for anything!
It had been the excuse the teacher had given when Hermione said she didn't want to bother, but she suspected that all that teacher's insistence had more to do with her getting used to her now tutor's house and mainly to get out of the environment a little bit. of familiar was not that of her memories, her friends wouldn't be there to celebrate the holidays with her… They hadn't even been born yet.
Although the express left at 11am from Hogsmeade, they didn't go home until around 5pm. As a householder, Minerva had to extend her hours, accommodating the few Gryffindor students who had stayed that holiday, finishing correcting some jobs before summoning Hermione to her office to leave.
Though they hadn't left the castle, the older Witch had noticed the sad way the student had watched her housemates leaving through the school gates - the same sad way she'd been looking at the common room at that moment. She knew she couldn't ask questions about the future, but the intensity in the teenager's gaze told her that she had left much-loved companions in the future.
- Let's go dear? - Minerva spoke calmly, wanting to dispel the sadness that had taken over the girl.
Hermione just confirmed, taking her small suitcase as she would leave her trunk and most of her materials and belongings in the dormitory, so she followed the tutor to her office, entering the fireplace and feeling the heat take over her body while the teacher holding her a strong hand threw the flu powder and the emerald green flames surrounded them. Holding a sneeze, the teenager cleaned herself and left the dark environment, gasping when she noticed the room they were in: there were no walls, just bookcases and more bookcases! A coffee table was surrounded by two sofas and an armchair that, despite being slightly dusty, could be cleaned in a matter of seconds with the correct spell.
- I knew you'd like it. - Minerva decreed with a little smile on her face. - Your room is upstairs, third door on the left. Then I'll introduce you to the rest of the house, it's modest but comfortable. I hope you are happy here.
The young woman nodded, still a little embarrassed to be in the house of the teacher she most admired at school, and thus holding her curiosity to explore the titles that Minerva had in her personal collection, she went in the direction that the tutor indicated. The room really wasn't very big, but it wasn't small either, in the girl's opinion it was the ideal size for her to feel good. As she had brought few things, not even bothering to empty her suitcase, but she knew that the reluctance was more in the fact that she didn't want to be there, even with all the hospitality of the teacher, the idea of spending Christmas away from her family and friend was disheartening.
Hermione overcame the anguish of never knowing how the battle in the ministry ended after the first few months she woke up at that time, but at times like this she couldn't help wondering: How were Harry and Ron? If they Neville, Luna and Gina were safe celebrating Christmas at the Burrow… "Stop!" He scolded himself, after all, it's no use getting caught up in questions that she would never have answers to. She was a practical witch and knew she had no talent for guessing the future.
Minerva gave a little tour of the house showing Hermione where were all the things she would need and said she was free to read whatever she wanted in the library, so the teacher left the youngest alone to explore the new environment until the time of dinner, when he revealed that the next day the two would go shopping - that even after the teenager's several refusals, she did not listen. As her tutor, she needed to provide the best for her, meaning clothes and a proper life. And besides that, the teacher needed to finish her Christmas shopping, after all she still needed some presents for her nephews.
Even uncomfortable, Hermione couldn't have been more grateful for the witch's zeal. Even though she had to carry countless bags the next afternoon, she couldn't hold back her tears as she confessed that Minerva had always been her favorite teacher - getting a pinch and a comforting hug in return.
However, it was during Christmas dinner that Hermione revealed to her tutor her true intentions for the year. The two were sitting at a long table in the rectory in the Caithness suburb that had been the late Reverend Presbyterian Robert McGonagall and his wife Isobel, Minerva's country and his two younger brothers Malcom and Robert Junior. With the death of their father, Malcon and his wife Brenda - a Hufflepuff witch - who was pregnant with their second child and the couple's little eldest Isla came to live with Isobel who, finally being surrounded by magic, found herself completely happy.
- But your hair, dear? - Questioned Minerva.
- Women usually cut their hair after important decisions in their life, right? It wasn't just a milestone that I came back here, but if I need to camouflage myself, I need to change my look. I've always been known for the size of my teeth and voluminous hair, I can't let them recognize me until the moment of disappearance.
- But your teeth aren't big! My friend Timothy's they are, but Mom said I can't say they look like a rabbit because that will make him sad and then he won't want to play Quidditch with me anymore. - Commented the little Max, nickname of Maxwell son of Robert Junior and of the wife Aileen who tried uselessly to wipe the son's chubby cheeks that were smeared with the turkey sauce with a napkin.
- I've fixed this before. Hermione smiled. - But my hair is a problem. There are people in that dangerous school, who unfortunately knew me….
- You don't need to say anything else, I understand.
- Oh dear, it will be a shame to cut, your hair is beautiful! - Brenda stated that she had complimented the teen's curls as soon as they were introduced.
- Honey, the girl is right. - Defended Malcon while finishing cutting the vegetables for the daughter who was sitting between her parents. - These are dangerous times, dark wizards have grown a lot, going unnoticed is always better than attracting unwanted attention.
- And how do you want to do it? - Asked the teacher.
- I need to look as different as possible, but I don't want to mess with the color.
- The solution then would be a pixie cut! - Aileen suggested excited, both for having managed to clean her son with a spell and mainly because she loved fashion. - I saw in "The American Charmer" that the cut is the latest trend among American witches!
- Do you help me?
And so Christmas Eve had ended at the McGonagalls' house: with Minerva, the two sisters-in-law, and Hermione having fun with the arduous task of a haircut, while Isobel dozed in the armchair near the fireplace and the lighted Christmas tree, she I should keep an eye on the children Isla and Max who play with the gifts they had won since the men had decided it was worth it to face the winter cold to smoke a cigar on the porch.
***
It was amazing how even after a long and tiring seven-hour journey Sirius didn't stop still. After trying to flirt with six girls on the way between the carriages and the Great Hall, he still had the strength to try one more time in the Gryffindor Hall! With all five friends nicely settled on the rug in front of the fireplace - forgetting for the time being the position of monitors - they saw from a box when a girl of medium height, head high and nose upturned, walked past the Fat Lady painting. With her hair short to her ears, tight pants and a sweater that outlined her body beautifully, she carried a book to her breasts, in a body language that maybe hiding was a good idea where she tried to be brave.
As she passed them, Sirius couldn't help himself.
- Pretty girl…. Well done girl! Beautiful girl…. - He exclaimed his compliments out loud, in an attempt to get her attention.
Instead of flushed cheeks, he only received a questioning look, along with contempt. I mean, at least hers, since her pickup line had hit another girl who came through the frame right behind.
- Sirius! Marlene McKinnon threw herself into her lap, believing it was for her.
Engrossed in his friends' jokes with Marlene and Sirius who had a true love-hate relationship since one hour they were flirting and the next they were cursing, Remus was more shocked by what he saw in front of him. That was the newbie! What would have happened to that change? What had she done? What she….
- What did she do with her hair? Remus asked indignantly, still watching the girl climb the dorm stairs.
- Who she? - James found his friend's focus strange, turning his body to look in the direction his friend indicated.
- The new one!
- That was Granger?! - James turned even more, losing sight of her.
- Did you do something, Lilly? Remus asked, trying to figure out the reason for the sudden change.
- Absolutely nothing! I haven't talked to her yet.
- Excellent! Even the newcomer rejected me! Is it not possible to be with anyone else in this school?! Sirius complained indignantly.
- McKinnon doesn't seem to agree with that, Padfoot…. - Peter laughed at his friend, who had just managed to get rid of the brunette.
Did I mention that they had a strange love-hate relationship? Well they did! She had already made her feelings for him more than clear, but he didn't reciprocate in the same way - resulting in awkward moments like this.
- What did she do with her hair…? Remus asked quietly, drawing Sirius' attention.
- Dude, it's just a haircut!
- But it had to be so radical?! I didn't even recognize her!
- Why? Have you been watching the newcomer?
- Of course not!
"But that's true, Sirius had never tried anything with her."
- Her luck ran out, unfortunately…. Lilly teased the brunette, receiving an ugly finger.
"Did you have to start seeing her, Potter?" Sirius implied.
- My luck was that you didn't try anything with her either.
- Hey! I respect my friends' girls!
If Sirius had sung the fledgling once without even knowing it was her, would he do it again on purpose? Remus didn't like to think about that possibility for some time, a fact that was proven two days later, when Padfoot did just that.
- Want help loading your books? - Sirius asked in a wooden face, intercepting her on the way to the second greenhouse where the sixth year students would have a herbology class and the seventh year students would leave.
He didn't even have the pleasure of an answer, only receiving a freezing look as he passed him and turned his eyes to the notepaper in his hand.
"Hard woman…" Sirius snorted, laughing at the situation.
- Do you really want to insist on that, Padfoot? She seems to have made it very clear that she doesn't want to be disturbed. James hugged his friend by the shoulder as they walked back to the castle for their next class.
- I don't know, I think it would be an excellent pastime for the end of the school year, and maybe I can get a kiss?
- I think a kick in your balls is more likely! - Peter exclaimed with a laugh.
- And you, Remus? What do you think? Sirius asked his friend who was frowning, following the girl with his eyes.
- Why did she cut her hair….?
- What is this fixation for hair that you developed, huh?!
That would go on for the rest of the day, to the point where Sirius lost his temper right after dinner.
- Still thinking about her hair? James nudged his friend, who was looking at the girl curled up in the same chair as before, reading a book of advanced potions.
- Couldn't she have decreased just a little bit? Did I need all this change?
- ENOUGH! Sirius got annoyed. - Let's end this now! THIS IS THE TENTH TIME YOU HAVE GROUNDED ABOUT THAT IDIOT HAIR!
- THERE WASN'T IDIOT!
Sirius didn't give a damn about his friend, marching over to the fledgling.
- This is going to be a good one. James barked, settling himself better to watch the show.
Hermione so far hadn't noticed the altered voices in the hall, only taking her attention from her book when she saw a pair of legs stop right in front of her. When he realized it was Sirius, he rolled his eyes internally because he thought it was another line from the boy. She made a mental note of one day making a point of complaining to Harry about how his godfather was a pain in the ass.
- Can I help you with anything? - She tried to be polite at least once.
- He can. A friend asked me to ask you….
- Is it serious? I would like to be alone if you don't impose….
- REALLY! James asked me to ask you why Remus just STOP TALKING ABOUT it, but….
- Can't you summarize?
- Why did you cut your hair?
Hermione was silent, shock consuming her existence. Was this serious? In the midst of all that fuss (which she had already done in fourth year when Harry and Ron were fighting), was the subject of her hair? And why on earth would that be Professor Lupin's concern?
With a frown of confusion she simply stated:
- This only concerns me.
- No, no, no…. You may have no appreciation for anyone else at this school, but I care a lot about my sanity and my ears! One reason is all I need!
Hermione glanced sideways at the fireplace, raising her eyebrow as she noticed Lupin, Potter and Pettigrew staring at them expectantly.
- Well, if your friend wants to know so much, he should come and ask himself, and not send a homing pigeon.
And ignoring Sirius, Hermione turned her attention back to her book, hoping to find out if that crazy hair was true. Sirius huffed in annoyance, returning to the couch and dropping to the floor, rubbing his temples.
- And then?! Remus asked boldly, forgetting to show disinterest.
- If you want to know, you will have to go there and ask yourself!
- Hey, did you stop asking? - James was surprised.
- No, that was her answer. But she didn't seem very able to answer you, to be honest. What animal bit her?
- Probably a dog. - Peter joked, receiving a pillow in the face.
_***_
It was the next morning that Minerva McGonagall had intercepted Remus on his way out of the transfiguration class, asking for a moment to talk alone. Already preparing to hear some lecture about his friends who had been caught last night for trying to smuggle sweet pies from the kitchen to the dorm, Remus thought of the best possible excuse for what they had done, but he had no idea, they actually they weren't even supposed to be caught since they were wearing the Marauder's Map and James' Invisibility Cloak, but it was true that the cloak was already getting small for three so Remus had stayed behind.
- Sorry, Professor, but I'm sure it wasn't James and Sirius' intention!
Minerva shook her head first, then laughed at her student's lost expression.
- It's nothing related to them, Mr. Lupin, but it's good to know that something is coming, the last event with the theft of sweet pies was a bit comical. I asked you to stay a little longer because I need to talk to you about a very important subject, regarding the transfiguration classes.
- Did something happen?
- Yes and no. I've noticed that several fifth and sixth graders have had various difficulties with crucial elements of the transfiguration, and I don't know why they're afraid to come and ask me for help. I thought about it and talked to Headmaster Dumbledore and we decided to open tutoring hours for students to ask questions with other students selected by me. There will be three groups: from the first to the third, fourth and fifth, and sixth and seventh. As I know of your tribulations with NEWTs, I would like you to help me with the sixth and seventh grades.
- I… Wow. I would love! But… I'm afraid of not being efficient or being able to help during that period….
- You will not be alone, you will have another person monitoring with you. Can we schedule twice a week then? Twice in an hour or once in two hours?
- I prefer twice, if it's not bothersome for the other monitor. By the way, who will it be?
- Jean Granger.
Remus blinked a few times in confusion. Who the hell was Jean? He only knew one Granger, but that wasn't her name.
- Jean, teacher? - He took a chance.
Minerva glanced at the door, to make sure they were alone before asking him to secrecy.
- I believe you remember what you heard that day in my office, before Christmas. I cannot give too many details, that concerns her, but it was necessary to change her name.
Remus blinked his eyes hastily. Was she in that much danger?
"Just ask, idiot" - Moony showed his point, being ignored.
- I see… Have you talked to her about monitoring?
- We talked about it over Christmas and she is more than willing to help with tutoring. You will be amazed at the potential of that young woman. - Minerva hid a smile, suspecting that an approach between the two would be beneficial for both.
***
As agreed, every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 pm to 6 pm, Remus and Jean were to appear in the transfiguration room to offer tutoring to their sixth and seventh year classmates. It would certainly take some time for a living soul to appear, so it was more than crucial that they did not remain in an awkward silence in the meantime. Not wanting to be late on the first day, Remus dropped out of arithmancy class as soon as it ended, not paying much attention to what Lilly had come to ask him. Even after trying not to be late, as soon as he opened the living room door he found Jean sitting on top of her desk, her legs bent like a lotus flower, reading a book.
He walked over and cleared his throat, but the girl was immersed in her own bubble. Risking a good afternoon, he at least managed to get her to respond to the greeting more automatically than consciously. Ashamed of his existence in a place where he clearly wasn't welcome, Remus sat at his usual table - which surprisingly was right next to the one she was at - pulling out his Arithmancy notebook and doing some calculations to pass the time. It must have been at least half an hour before he noticed a male voice in the room.
Your own voice.
- I also like Hogwarts, a story.
Hermione stopped her reading and straightened up, wondering if Lupine had really spoken to her. She risked turning to him and when she saw that he was looking at her, she deduced that she was.
- Not everyone agrees with you.
- I thought you were homeschooled...
- And I was, but knowledge is never too much.
- Is this your first time reading the book?
"Idiot, isn't it kind of obvious that she's read it before?" Moony rolled his eyes at Remus' lack of social skills.
- Actually, seventy-third.
Remus widened his eyes at that.
- You're kidding, aren't you?
- No. Reading it has always been kind of soothing to me since I was eleven. Whenever I needed to be alone or for company, he was the one I turned to. Hermione didn't see any harm in telling him that, she loved talking about books.
Besides, he seemed to be more baffled than she was.
- This gives an average reading of 10,428 times a year. What happened for you to spend more time reading it than…
- Did you manage to do that in your head?! Hermione deviated from the main topic.
- You do not?
- 10.42857142857143 would be the exact average. ” She replied with a smug smile.
"Is she a human counting machine?"
- Do you also do arithmancy?
- I tried to advance the advanced class, but the teacher did not trust my skills even with my NOMS grades, she said that it would be better for me to follow the normal flow and only do it when I was in seventh grade. Is this today's duty? - She asked craning her neck, not holding back with curiosity.
Remus just held out his notebook, being shocked at how sharp the gears in the witch's brain were at work. It was obvious he didn't complain when she pulled out a quill and fixed some numbers, verifying that she had found the errors. If she was so happy doing seventh grade exercises, he wouldn't be the one to complain and stop her from doing so.
I mean, he had already done a lot of that for his friends, someone could once do their duty for him, right?
He couldn't say exactly when, but at some point he approached her table, starting to resolve issues together for hours explaining why her resolution would not be possible with reality, but she insisted on hypothetical arguments for them to be used that he did not understand. The more he explained she replied, going so far as to create calculations and scribbles in her notebook explaining her point. She had been distracted by tracing the trajectory of an alternate spell, allowing him to just watch her.
"The long hair was more beautiful" - Moony complained, making Remus agree.
- Can I ask you something? - He asked embarrassed.
- You just asked.
Remus rolled his eyes, not believing that she really had made that old joke.
- Why did you cut your hair?
He didn't like the disbelieving laugh he got, along with a shocked look.
- I thought Black was making fun of me when he asked me that and blamed you, but…. You are really asking me this!
- I admit that I went a little overboard with my reflections on your motives, but it's only because I don't like extreme, sudden or sudden changes!
He hated being a man one second and being a wolf the next.
"HEY!"
Hermione was silent for a while just staring at him, to the point that Remus wished he were an ostrich to stick his head into the ground in shame. Why did he have to worry so much about a damn hair?!
- Do you know the witness protection program?
- I think I've heard about it somewhere ... - Remus remembered the several times he was forced to move so that the neighbors wouldn't realize that he was always sick near the full moon because of his transformations.
- I decided since the ministry forced me to change so many things, changing my hair would be the least and well, it would help with everything to go unnoticed. Until the last half semester they were trying to solve my… case, but with no result they decided that it was best to give me a new identity and since I don't think I was noticed here, the name won't make much difference. Professor McGonagall already warned you that my name is now Jean, and well… I think you already know that I live with the professor because she is my nice Tutor and now that I've cut my hair. End.
- I preferred it long… - He blurted out, blushing then.
"Long hair is good to play with"
- Me either. Hermione agreed with him, returning to her wistful bubble.
Nervous that he had done something stupid, Remus despaired, but was saved by the bell. In the next minute the alarm that sounded at 6 pm rang out, summoning everyone to dinner.
- Since no one showed up…. Want company to the Salon? - He let go, trying to redeem himself.
Hermione thought for a while, packing her bag and accepting the offer. They walked in silence to the Gryffindor table, nodding their heads off. Remus had barely sat down on the bench when he was bombarded by questions from his home's redheaded monitor.
- Did she just greet you, Remus?
- Yea…?
- Why? They were talking?
- Remus said he had someone else on prefect with him. Was her? - James interjected.
- Yes.
- And did you talk anything or just coexist in silence because she still refuses to interact with anyone?
- We talked a few things.
- Did you by any chance ask about her hair? James took it off with his face, while Sirius and Peter sat at the table.
- That hair thing again? Sirius whimpered.
- I asked, but I won't tell.
Everyone else opened their mouths in shock. Had he really asked something so personal to someone who didn't even know of his existence?!
- You didn't disturb us for three days to just be quiet!
Remus just shrugged, indicating that no more words would come out of his mouth as he smirked and went back to drinking his pumpkin juice.

1. The one with the spy behind the door.
It was a relatively complicated beginning of December. James and Sirius insisted on continuing to get ready with the Slytherins, overcoming themselves more and more and consequently receiving increasingly long arrests. Remus should be used to it all, but the next full moon was almost here, and if he continued at that pace he would have only Peter to accompany him during the transformation. Not that it was a problem, but all three were his best friends, and besides enjoying their company at night, this was his last year. Remus highly doubted that they would continue to show up one night a month after graduation - and even if they did, it wouldn't be all at once.
- What was their detention this time? - He asked Lilly Evans, the head of Gryffindor.
- Organize the potions pantry. - She replied disinterested, looking away.
- Do you know how long?
- One dawn, if you're lucky.
That was not Lilly's usual way. Despite having started hanging out with the boys the year before, when James finally convinced her to give her a chance and take her for a walk in Hogsmeade, Remus knew that James' "predisposition to get in trouble" irritated the redhead , but she was a little ... worried, if not distressed.
- Did James do anything? - Lupine took a chance.
- What? Of course not. I agreed to go out with him next week, why would he do anything?
- So what happened? You don't look very good to me.
Lilly quickly looked both ways, checking that no one else in the common room was paying attention to the conversation between the two before approaching and whispering close to her ear.
- It's the new girl. It breaks my heart to see you that way.
Remus didn't have to look very hard to find out where the newbie was: always huddled in the high-backed armchair next to the window, huddled as if he wanted to merge with the furniture and go unnoticed. Not that she was unsuccessful, the boy was sure that not even his dorm mates remembered the brunette, but for some reason he - or rather Moony - always noticed when she passed him in the halls or when hiding in the library . She always had red eyes, crying and when her soft sobs didn't catch her eye, her body trembled. Rarely did anything in the wizard's day-to-day draw the attention of his wolf, but the girl always aroused the creature's curiosity.
- I would probably stay the same if the you-know-who's diners had killed my parents or any of you. - Remus confided, with his body intending only to think about the possibility.
- It's not just that ... She doesn't let anyone get close, it seems that she doesn't want to mix with anyone here.
- Watching your family being murdered in front of you must be very traumatic, Lilly.
- You don't understand, Remus! That's exactly why she can't be alone, she will languish that way!
That was true. Since the newcomer arrived four months ago, it was visible how she lost weight, she withered like a flower forgotten in time. And despite walking with his head down, deep dark circles marked his pale face, just as his armed hair lost the little shine it once had. She entered the sixth year on an emergency transfer, right after the first year, calling everyone's attention.
***
- Although we have already selected our first year students, our selection is not yet finished. We would have liked you to have been accepted by different means, but we hope that your stay at the castle will be enjoyed very well. - Director Dumbledore announced to no one special, intriguing everyone in the hall.
- GRANGER, Hermione! McGonagall shouted, seeing the front door open, revealing a girl in her late teens.
Despite all the curious looks, no one could see much. Hermione came in with her head bowed, her body curled up. How she managed to walk in a straight line to the sorting hat had been a miracle, since she seemed to be trying to merge into the shadows of the floor more than anything else. After crawling down the hall, she sat on the stool, shrinking as she felt the hat on her head. He was silent for a long time, until his home was properly advertised.
- GRYFFINORY!
As the house screamed, shock went through the girl's body. For the first time Hermione stretched her neck and opened her eyes wide, giving sight to whoever wanted to look: her eyes were honey brown, her upturned nose was covered with small freckles and her lips were pink and full. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks, dripping onto his uniform. Her curly hair framed her face, transforming it almost into a Baroque work, such suffering stamped. His uniform was not revealing, leaving much to anyone's imagination.
Hermione didn't seem to like the selection at all, ignoring Gryffindor's cheers. Isolating herself from anyone trying to get close, the girl entered her private bubble and languished for the next four months.
***
- Professor Mcgonagall asked me to watch the new girl. - Lilly told her friends when they returned to the Common Room. - She was home-schooled, her village was attacked by death eaters in the summer. She saw her parents being murdered in cold blood. - Told the redhead immediately asking friends to keep the secret after all the director of the house had asked for description when commenting the case with the head monitors of the house.
- I am not surprised then that she is so cornered. You should know that there are aspiring diners at school. - Sirius commented. - Imagine if she was selected for Slytherin? I would die at the first opportunity.
- Sirius! Lilly slapped her arm in horror.
- He just told the truth, Lilly. - James helped his friend. - Or do you think those shitty commissar projects would miss this?
Lilly had unfortunately been forced to agree with what Potter had said. Since that day there have been countless times that the redhead had tried to approach the brunette who practically only left the common room for classes or to eat her meals alone as soon as possible. When Lilly insisted that the newcomer interact with her, when she didn't ignore the older one, she just begged her to be left alone and went to take refuge in the library.
***
- As much as being alone is what she wants, I as head monitor will not allow this type of behavior. She has seen too many deaths ... If she just gives up it is more of a victory than you-know-who will have over the light.
- What do you mean by that?
- I still don't know how, but I won't let it be consumed like that! - Lilly went up to her dorm without saying goodbye, too immersed in her own thoughts trying to find a way to help the newbie.
Although the girl was a year younger than the Seventh-year-olds, they weren't so different ages and for the few times Remus was able to see her, she looked beautiful beneath all those layers of sadness and loneliness - but that was her daily armor so the boy had no idea what she really looked like. And although Remus didn't want to start being part of the furniture in the Common Room, he patiently waited for his friends to return from detention, which didn't happen in the next few hours. So the boy took the opportunity to read the Transfiguration book that they borrowed from the teacher, of course he occasionally allowed himself to observe his housemate better.
Without realizing it was already midnight and his friends had not returned yet, with a sigh he turned his eyes to the girl now asleep in the armchair by the window. It was none of his business, but he couldn't just leave her at the mercy of a stiff neck just because her roommates didn't care about her absence. Stretching, Remus left the comfortable sofa by the fireplace and went to the window seat, crouching in front of the sleeping girl with relative difficulty - because despite being only seventeen, with the moon approaching his whole body was tense and sore like a rheumatic old man, of course he was not as bad as the day after his transformation, but enough to grumble whenever he came up against something. Afraid, he touched the young woman's arm,
"I'm sorry ..." Remus whispered, feeling his cheeks go red as he deliberately ignored how aggressively the girl was pointing a wand at him. - It's just past midnight, and you fell asleep ...
As quickly as it arose, the fury soon disappeared from the novice's honey brown eyes, giving way to real confusion - as if he didn't recognize who was in front of him - but then the usual grief clouded his features.
- Thank you. - She whispered, getting up as quietly as possible and without allowing Remus to comment on anything, she was already disappearing on the stairs that led to the women's dormitories, leaving him alone.
Incredibly Remus had been the first to achieve something other than "I want to be alone" from it.
***
The full moon had passed and Remus was finished to say the least, luckily Sirius and James managed to finish organizing the potion dispensing in time to spend the moon night with their friend. Which was much better for Moony that in the company of Tips and Pads he could run relatively safely through the forbidden forest, relative because nothing that concerned a werewolf completely transformed under the frenzy of the moon was safe. But his housemates were used to letting themselves be chased by the wolf, always keeping him away from school grounds or the wizarding village.
If the other two friends hadn't shown up to mediate the race, Remus' plan was to stay locked in the screaming house as he did in his first and second year with the added bonus of having Peter in his rat form to keep him company. After all, he would not be in danger of approaching the school or the village. However, being locked in the house meant that the boy would wake up extremely wounded the next morning, seeing that the wolf he hated to be contained, especially at the full moon, would have tried to escape from all conditions. possible ways without worrying about getting hurt in the process.
- Are you sure you don't need to rest in the infirmary a little longer? - Asked Peter as he followed Remus back to the dormitory, Sirius and James were just behind yawning.
- I'm used to it, Wormtail. - Remus said as he hobbled back to the Gryffindor tower.
- That does not mean that it is to be well!
That litany was already well known to the boy, every time the sun rose his friends helped him go back to school by going straight to the infirmary where he received potions to mend his bones and heal deep cuts, not to mention to relieve his headache and muscular. Although the potions alleviated the most latent pains, he was never fully recovered. While James and Sirius returned to the dorm like zombies, Peter was always insisting that Remus should stay in the infirmary longer.
As usual, it was only when they arrived at the dormitory that the two brunettes fell into bed, falling asleep instantly, clearly the first and second classes would be missing. Remus would laugh at how James drooled on the pillow if the movement didn't make his ribs protest and so he sighed slightly as he went towards his backpack.
Remus should do the same as his friends and go to sleep, his teachers were always generous with him in the first classes after the first full moon, but no! Restlessly, he fetched an advanced transfiguration book he had borrowed from McGonagall two weeks earlier, leaving the Common Room and going to return it. It was barely after six in the morning, but he hoped that his teacher was already on his feet, after all, he was supposed to have returned the book two days ago when he finished reading it.
It took him much longer to reach the teacher's office than he would have if he were in his normal physical condition. Insistently, Remus practically crawled down the halls to the transfiguration room, finding the door ajar. Before he could reach the doorknob, he heard exalted voices coming from inside the room, and as much as he thought he should move away, Moony didn't allow "Wait! Listen ... she's crying again." said the creature that divided his body and mind.
-… I'm sorry, young lady.
- They can't do that! Cried Hermione between sobs. - You can't keep me stuck here forever! They are nameless! That's their job!
- I understand your anguish, but your case was closed and sealed as confidential ...
- So they will just pretend that nothing happened? I know a lot that could change everything! They can't just leave me here waiting for me to get on with my life!
- That's why the ministry sent a confidentiality statement for you to sign ...
- What if I refuse?
- Don't be silly, child! Scolded Minerva. - You know better than anyone the risks of messing with what is beyond your power.
- I know! And that is exactly why they have to send me back!
- Perhaps it is best to accept that you are here now, and that you have a bright future ahead of you. Your grades at the NOMs were impeccable even after all the trauma of being here, you are an extremely intelligent witch and you will get over it.
- Like? - Asked the brunette so low that if it weren't for the wolf hearing Remus would hardly have heard. - How can I move on if I have been torn from everything I know? Do they want me to sign a stupid term saying I won't tell anyone? He raised his tone. - I sign, but what's up ??? Christmas is coming and they expect me to stay at Hogwarts, but what about when school is over? Where will I go? I do not have anybody!
- Stay with me.
- What?
- That's exactly what you heard. It was discussed between Director Dumbledore, the unspeakable responsible for you while the case was open and me that the best thing would be that: as soon as the case was closed and you signed the confidentiality agreement, I, for being responsible for your house here in school, become my legal guardian. All documentation has already been prepared with the ministry. So you are wrong when you say you have no one, after all you have me and I will do my best to make your future here as bright as you are.
Remus didn't know what the girl replied, maybe she didn't even speak, but he needed all of his self-control to keep from opening the door a little more and watching what was really happening.
"Good." Minerva cleared her throat. - Now that everything is cleared up, these are the documents you need to sign and this is your new identity. I know it is not ideal, but they have allowed you to keep the surname.
- They don't even want my first name for me to use? - Asked the girl not shocked, but deeply irritated.
- You know it's for your safety.
Remus was supposed to leave, he knew that, it was clear that the conversation was over and if he kept standing behind the door they would catch him for sure. James was the kid of the group not him! Okay, that Lupine had even helped in the trick calculations for the spell that created the Marauder's map idealized by Sirius, but it was Tips and Pads that used it every second. And so, rationally, he took a step backwards ready to turn around and go back to his dormitory, he would hand over the teacher's book at another time, but Moony refused to agree with his human half. There had been few times that the wolf had dominated his body other than during the nights of the full moon and unfortunately that was one of them. What was surprising and deeply scary for the wizard,
"Moony, no!"
The rebuke came too late. While half of his body tried to leave, the other had decided to check with his own snout, resulting in a Remus tripping over his own legs and falling through the door, letting out a loud grunt of pain when he found the floor.
- Ain…. - He tried to get up, failing miserably.
- MR. LUPIN! What are you doing here at such an hour ?! - Minerva was terrified, both by the possibility that he heard something and by the chaotic state of the teenager.
- I needed…. I needed to return your book.
- A few more hours would not make you disgust me. - Minerva scolded.
Hermione was supposed to be quiet, but she was very irritated by the whole situation. She couldn't help but take her anger out on the poor werewolf:
- Clearly not a very good spy. - She looked at him with disgust and anger before disdaining her colleague - And it seems that a herd of elephants has passed over you.
"You would be happy to know that I am immensely stronger than a herd of elephants" - Moony bragged, making Remus roll his eyes. Now he bragged? Where had the indifferent wolf stopped that didn't bother him outside the week before the full moon ?
- MS. Granger ... - Sighed the teacher. - I understand your discontent with every situation you are in, but do not discount your frustrations on another colleague. Now, please help me get him to the infirmary.
- It seems to me that he just ran away from there, Professor. Are you sure you want to take him back?
- MS. Granger!
- I'm sorry, teacher, naturally I'm going to help my housemate. - The girl spoke promptly helping the older man to get up, but obviously she would not miss the opportunity. - Just so you know, curiosity killed the cat! - She whispered the threat close to his face, when Minerva could no longer hear them because she had gone to put the transfiguration book in her bookcase at the back of the room.
- I'm glad I'm not a cat. - Moony spoke through Remus' mouth, making the wizard tremble from head to toe.
- Really, it's more like ... - He quickly stopped his acid response when the teacher came back and encouraged them to go to the nurse right away.
- You have my permission to stay as long as you need in the infirmary, Mr. Lupine. I signed your dismissal from today's classes so I urge you to rest properly. - Minerva decreed, hoping that it would convince him to recover.
The drive to the infirmary was long, painful and embarrassing. The entire journey was made in that uncomfortable silence, but surprisingly that had been the biggest dialogue the brunette had lent herself to having with anyone besides the teachers, a real record.
Of course, Remus was greeted with a Poppy eye roll when he noticed the student back. The nurse immediately pulled one of the curtains from the beds at the back and fetched another pain potion.
-Obri-thanks. - He thanked the youngest while sitting with difficulty on the stretcher that the nurse had indicated.
Hermione narrowed her eyes suspiciously and was silent for a while, until she decided to ask.
- What did you hear?
- Nothing, I swear nothing! - Remus shifted in embarrassment. - Only that McGonagall is your legal guardian, that's all.
- Well ... So I would be very grateful if you didn't tell this to anyone else, especially to your ... Friends.
Hermione knew too many stories about James and Sirius to imagine what the two would do with that information. If they knew that Hermione was almost Minerva's "adopted daughter", they would most certainly try to use her to fall into McGonagall's grace and thus get rid of detentions. And as ridiculous and funny as that was, she could not afford to play such a role, she could not approach them without it leading to profound changes in the future.
- I will not. And I'm sorry for all that ... Your parents and ... It must have been awful.
Hermione shook her head. With the humor he was in, he was able to throw his cover down the drain and damn the confidentiality of the ministry.
- You should take a rest. - Disconnected. - I don't know what happened to you, but if you keep running away from the infirmary like that you will pass out in the middle of the corridor.
“She's right, a nap wouldn't be a bad idea '' - Moony agreed in his mind.
She left before Remus could say anything more, leaving him alone with his thoughts and a curious wolf who was finally too sleepy to disturb him.
***
It was close to lunchtime when James and Sirius missed Remus. Although they were from the same house, that morning they would have optional classes - and none of them were in the same class as the werewolf. It was only when the specifically rare red meat appeared where Remus was supposed to be sitting that they realized that his friend was too late.
- Lily, did you see Remus this morning?
"No." Lilly rolled her eyes at the nickname, staring at the newcomer who incredibly expressed a reaction other than crying.
She murdered the meat with her knife.
- My condolences to that chicken. - James commented, following his girlfriend's gaze.
- At least she's not crying. Isn't that a good sign?
- It depends on who answers you. I don't think that chicken….
- Where did Moony get in ?! He was no longer in the dorm when we left! - Sirius was restless, not being able to see the new girl having lunch.
- See, he followed my advice and went back to the infirmary. - Peter realized the obvious.
- He never goes back to the infirmary. - Sirius was emphatic.
- But it costs nothing to spend there. - Peter defended his point of view.
And although the two went to the infirmary knowing that he would not be there, Sirius broke his face when he noticed his friend dozing on one of the stretchers. With a mocking smile on his lips, Peter approached his friend, watching him slowly open his eyes.
- Why did you come back…? - He asked still sleeping, attracting the attention of the two boys.
- Who's back? - Peter was surprised.
- Who brought you here? - Sirius realized that was the situation. - Did something happen?
It took Remus a few seconds to wake up. Moony was passed out inside himself, only to wake up in two weeks if he was lucky. Blinking hard, he saw that it was his friends at his side, not the nervous novice.
- I… I went to give McGonagall the book she had lent me and I finished…. I ended up stumbling and falling to the ground. She excused me from all classes, so I didn't show up.
- But you didn't come here alone, you never go back to the infirmary when you should.
- No, it was the newbie. McGonagall asked her to help me.
- Did you speak or do anything? She didn't look very good at lunch. Sirius laughed at the possibility.
“What… What did she do….? ' Moony asked himself yawning.
But it would be possible! That busybody had just woken up to gossip!
"Still!" - Remus scolded the wolf.
- She was angry, very angry. - Sirius replied when he read the question in his friend's eyes.
- But you were sad? Still crying?
- No, but she seemed able to smash anyone who looked at her.
- Better to tell James to take care of Lilly then, she is determined to get Granger out of her bubble. - Remus stretched, making many faces when his skin stretched. Moony had gone back to sleep, just proving to be a gossipy neighbor.
- Come on, you need to eat. If we get lucky you still get lunch and then go back to the common room. I'm sure Moony will love sleeping next to the fireplace.
As much as the werewolf created fur enough to keep warm, sleeping next to the fireplace on cold days was pleasant enough. The snow had started to fall and in three days they would have Christmas break. As much as he had his problems at home, he missed his parents a lot - thanking him for the first full moon to have passed. It wouldn't be a comfortable day if you had to become home. Already a little stronger, Remus had a hearty lunch, returning to the common room and huddling in front of the fireplace. Although his mind wanted to read or even go to class, he decided to listen to Moony and sleep some more.
He woke up only hours later, with a hand poking his arm.
- I didn't want to wake you up, but dinner is running out and you shouldn't be without food. - Hermione evicted, not waiting for him to thank her before going up to her dorm.
But this time Remus had been curious. Why was he able to exchange more than a few words with her?

Prolog

Prolog | Edno
Edno
June 2000
Two years had passed since the death of Harry Potter, since the rise of Lord Voldemort.
Two years had passed since the day that Hermione saw her life disappear.
Devoid of magic and a wand, she was fragile and helpless around diners and supporters, who used enslaved girls to get money. They received the money and they did the work, never seeing their color. Because it was the muggle who had conspired against her leader, Hermione was in constant demand, always getting hurt from all those torture sessions.
She was fed up with it all, having formed a plan in the past few months. He would do anything to get rid of that condition of existence. Smuggling a scroll and feather from her only ally, she wrote to women in different countries for help. Italy, France, Portugal, Bulgaria, Belgium, Spain, Greece and Denmark.
Someone needed to hear your cry for help.
-Are you sure you want to do this? - Draco Malfoy questioned her, still in bed,
-Do you really want me to stay in this hell? - Hermione replied, not caring about her nudity, just wanting to write as soon as possible.
-I do not want to be separated from you, I thought I had already made that very clear. - Draco got up from the bed, putting the sheets aside and going to the woman who smoothed the parchment. It had been so long since the last time he touched a role… .. He wrapped his arms around the brunette's back, hugging her, resting his face on her shoulders.
-That's kind of hard being in all this situation in that harem. You know I have no choice, anyone can take me. - His tone was sad, avoiding looking the boy in the eye.
Tears came to her eyes, she would go crazy if she continued on this for any longer.
-I will do anything to get you out of here, have you just for me…. - The anguish was noticeable in Draco's tone, expressing sincerity in his words.
-That might be possible if…. You buy me. But this is…. - Hermione thought that possibility was outrageous! Her condition was terrible, but she could not bear to be humiliated in a different way, no matter how much it saved her.
-If the solution is that I do! I will be twenty-one in a year, I will have full control over my bank account and I will be able to leave the house. I can take you along and get rid of it all!
-As much as I appreciate your will, you know I won't have peace. As much as you buy me, you will still be a diner, and you will eventually be forced to share….
-I will not do that, you will be mine alone.
Hermione gave a resigned sigh, sticking their mouths in a passionate, languid kiss. Draco Malfoy had been his first and, strange as it was, he did not agree with everything she had been subjected to. As much as he mistreated her at school, he had had the courage to pay to be her first. He knew that most likely she would never have done something like that and that he - unlike other diners - would be loving and kind so that she would not suffer more than the new condition required.
She had attacked a jar on her head, but he soon overpowered her and over the months he fell in love with the woman, keeping her company when he was hurt or cursed. Since then, he had made plans to free her from that shared condition, with a piece of her dying whenever he heard about what they had done to her. No one knew about their relationship, which was a plus for that attempted escape.
-I need to at least try, Draco. If I don't make it, I can take another year here, until you can take me home.
-For our house.
They lived in that sweet illusion that they would be able to be a happy couple - at least for four hours a week - dreaming of the day that would be exclusive to each other.
-Could you pass the parchment to me, please?
-On here. I'll be waiting for you in bed. Draco kissed the woman on the shoulder, voting for the soft sheets.
The feeling of touching a quill and parchment after a long time was invigorating. Allowing herself to breathe in the scent of paper, Hermione controlled her emotions, not allowing herself to be carried away by small pleasures that had been taken away two years before.
“I send this cry for help to anyone who can hear a desperate soul. I was a muggle born witch until the one who should not be named to conquer the UK. I could not escape, I am being made a slave in a harem located in the heart of England and I beg for help. I fear what will happen to me if I stay in prison longer - I was a war veteran and if I continue at that pace, I won't have many more years of youth. I pray for mercy with each passing day, but they refuse to kill me or let me kill myself, so all I can do is run. I am willing to exchange years of service in your establishments for misery. I have already suffered a lot in the hands of death eaters, but I believe that it still has my beauty, it could increase the profits of their homes.
In the hope of salvation,
Hermione Jane Granger ”
-I need another favor from you. - Hermione asked when she returned to the bed, hugging Draco's body.
-I dispatch the letter to you. He kissed her forehead, pulling her closer.
-Not only that, you are the only one with a wand and magic around here. Can you hide my signature and multiply the scrolls, please?
-I do that as soon as I get back to my room, you can rest assured.
Although they had been together for two years, Draco never allowed Hermione to touch her magic wand. Not that he was prejudiced on that point, but he thought she would suffer even more if she saw him do magic in front of her, or worse, try against her own life if she had one in her hands. He knew of the multiple times that she had tried to take her life, always being prevented by others. She was not suicidal, she only saw it as the only alternative to escape the situation of slavery. The number of times she had begged him on his first night still broke his heart. What she most wanted in her current situation was for her pain and suffering to end, but even her rapists did not allow it, always leaving her on the brink of death, but not completing the process.
It was amazing how she hadn't gone crazy yet.
-Please, Draco. Don't forget any letters. - Hermione hugged her body tightly, breathing in her scent for breath.
-I'm not that childish at that point, Hermione….
And in fact he was not. Draco had even thought about disappearing with the cards, but he couldn't. Hermione deserved at least a chance to try to survive. As soon as he got home, he bewitched the scrolls so that his signature could only be seen outside UK domains, dispatching them all that same night. He wanted to be his savior, but until he was 21 he couldn't do anything.
***
Three weeks and no answer. Hermione was already convinced that his life and body were so insignificant that even other people would not want to profit from him. Immersed in a deep depression, she tried again against her life, being ridiculed in the middle of the harem by the diners. Voldemort amused himself sadistically whenever she tried to end the damage he had done to her, not being far away when the woman was thrown naked in the center of the room. With a trickle of blood running down her neck, she was tied up and prevented from continuing what she was trying to do, remaining in the cold until nightfall.
After her rooms were searched and any sharp objects had been destroyed, she was taken back, knowing that she would be visited by someone at night to further torment her judgment. When the door to her room opened, Hermione sighed with relief when she saw the blonde head sneak in and lock the lock.
-Draco! - She ran to him and cried in his chest, being hugged lovingly.
-I knew what you tried to do today….
-I can not take it anymore….
-I know my love…. I received an owl today, I think someone answered you.
Her eyes were bright with hope. Without waiting any longer, Hermione abruptly separated from him, taking off his overcoat and starting to look for the piece of paper, not seeing that Draco was pulling it out of his shirt.
-Here, Hermione.
She took the paper from her hands as if it were a glass of water for someone who had been lost in the desert for a long time.
And she was thirsty for a sip of freedom.
His hands were shaking so badly that Draco had to help unroll the parchment, staying well away from Hurricane Hermione that didn't stop in place. She paced back and forth, trying to concentrate on reading.

With wishes for a safe crossing,
Zornitsa Burkov ”
-And then….? Draco was distressed by the unsettling silence of the woman in front of him.
-I only have three more days here… .- Hermione turned her body in front of Draco, looking at him with watery eyes, but with a huge smile on her face.- I did it, Draco… - She whispered, fearing be heard. - They'll get me out of here….
Hermione took two steps and threw herself at the man, pressing herself against him and shooting out tears. Draco was relieved that the woman in his life was able to escape all that suffering, even if part of him turned green with envy that she was able to escape and he did not. Even if he renounced his Black Mark Voldemort would leave him alone.
-And where will I need to travel to see you? Draco whispered against his hair, holding his lean body with all his strength.
-Bulgaria.
Draco reasoned: as much as there were supporters of darkness in the country, Voldemort had no power beyond the United Kingdom. He had been content with what was his since the beginning, knowing that the attempt to expand to other regions could be catastrophic. The Bulgarian Veelas and half French Veelas had enough magic of light to prevent him from entering their domain, with the rest of the countries repudiating all the darkness that the United Kingdom emanated. Since two years earlier, when most light wizards asked for extradition to neighboring countries, only Death Eaters, Muggle-borns and poorer families were left who could not escape in time.
-Even if they find you there, I doubt they'll be able to bring you back.
-If they find me there, they'll probably kill me. And honestly, after all I've been through, I would thank them for that. Since they don't want to give me that taste, I know I'll be fine.
-And how are we going to get you out of here?
-The key is contracted for the dawn of the first day, in the Epping Forest. He is in Greater London, but how am I going to get out of here… ..
-I'll take you. I come here around midnight and cast a disillusioning spell on you. we went out the back door and apparated in the woods.
-They can't see you with me, they'll blame you for my disappearance.
-I can do my thing.
They didn't waste any more time on words. The bold and passionate kiss they exchanged contained more promises than they could actually keep. The glimpse of a life together, starting a family in a distant country seemed ever closer - at least it was with that illusion that they liked to live. That night had been completely different from the day, being naked was not a sign of humiliation, it was being delivered body and soul to the person who shared your heart. The two made love for most of the night, with Draco just leaving that of his room at dawn, preventing them from seeing him. I didn't want other things to be thought well at the time of the championship.
Those three days had almost dragged on for the woman. She was so anxious! He had even thought about packing his things for the escape, but his belongings were limited to personal care products and some fabrics with which he dressed. Yes, diners were creative at that point: they relied on Greek and Roman togas to facilitate access to the girls' bodies. Hermione had nothing to fix, the truth was that, there was only a wait.
She needed a plan and as much as it hurt to execute it it was the only alternative of not calling her disappearance. So, in the late afternoon of June 30, when a diner chose her to be satisfied, Hermione did her best and impossible to tease him, humiliating his masculinity and character, getting on the verge of death once again. The wizard had been irritated by the insults, throwing punches at his face and body, used curses and pulled a lot of blood. She put up with it all with a smile on her face - leading the man to think that she had actually gone crazy, no longer caring what her body suffered.
She lay on the floor of her bedroom until the end of the night, when Draco - along with a disillusioning spell - entered the room, gasping in surprise at seeing her lover's condition. Kneeling beside him, he placed two fingers on his jugular to see if they still had a heartbeat. It was just what was missing! She was killed on the day of her escape! Sighing relieved by the strong pulse, Draco stroked his hair to wake the woman, who still had a smile on her face.
-Just get me out of here.
With difficulties, Hermione got to her feet with the help of her lover, smiling like a child when she felt the spell surrounding her. That yes was a kind of magic that she missed for her body. How many times had I not done that to study hidden in the library of…. In…. What was the name of the school they were studying?
As much as attempts to erase Muggle-born memory had not been effective, some things had been dragged from his memories: the name of the school of witchcraft, how to hold a wand and his entire life before he became a witch. Occasional lapses of memory about the two boys who always accompanied her came back and as much as she tried, she could not remember in detail who they were, but she was aware that they were extremely important.
Draco covered her body as best he could, helping her to walk out of the building. A diner was on the lookout that night and almost caught them, but they managed to escape successfully. mentalizing the park he had visited during the day, Draco apparated with the woman in the indicated place, dispelling the illusion when he noticed an elderly man standing near the entrance to the forest. He approached first and when he noticed the bewitched boot on the floor, he concluded that this was his farewell, He called Hermione with his head, pulling on her waist and giving a breathtaking kiss, pasting her foreheads and promising:
-In up to two weeks I will check how you are.
-Thank you very much, Draco. - Hermione disengaged herself from the boy, shaking her head.
Draco noticed Hermione's discomfort, crouching and pulling his hand, leading her to the boot.
-Here, hold on tight. - His heart sank because the woman knew in theory how magic worked, but forgot simple actions like using a portkey.
With a kiss on his forehead, Draco stood up and walked away a few feet, feeling his heart tighten painfully as he felt the air around him suck and his girl disappeared right in front of him.
She had done it.
Hermione had done it.
Draco allowed two or three tears to escape, apparating to a nearby bar so he could disguise the time to return to the Mansion.
***
The whole time that Hermione was stuck in that whirlwind, her mind screamed - and maybe her mouth too. When they finally landed, it was already more than four in the morning - due to the time zone. You got up and ignored her, greeted the woman in front of you and Apparated. Hermione was still shaken by the sudden change of place, looking around.
Soon, it would be dawn, but the moonlight still allowed her to glimpse where she had landed: the open space was clearly the back of a house, which apparently looked like a lady's house. There was no fence, but neither did he imply that he was isolated from the world. The woman was still looking at her, her expression not pleasant. Why the hell was she still on the floor?
Standing up in a pulp, Hermione got to her feet, but as she took two steps towards the woman she noticed her vision darken, collapsing on the floor. I was still awake, but very weak. She tried to get up, but her body was very limp due to the injuries + apparatuses + portkey.
-Wake up! Wake up! - The woman crouched down beside him, amazed when she noticed the girl's condition.
Hermione blinked her eyes quickly, refusing to fall right now! Leaning on his wife, he forced himself to get up and crawl into the Mansion, being supported by the older woman. Zornitsa had a faint sense of what was going on in England from what he saw out there, but when he saw with his own eyes what they had done to one of the greatest witches of that time, he had run out of breath and got sick. Hermione would be lucky if she survived until the end of the day, she thought.
Her minority partners had been against the girl's rescue, fearing Lord Voldemort's fury, but since she had most of the shares in the house, he had stepped foot and given the final decision to hire her. It had been an expensive portkey, but it was worth it. Just knowing that he had saved a life from that environment already made his pocket less painful.
Walking at the pace of the youngest, Zornitsa took her to where her room would be, fetching some water for her, only speaking when she realized that she was not in shock.
-What they did to you?
-I needed to be forgotten. If I was badly hurt, they might think I died.
The girl was smart.
And before I could ask any further questions, Hermione burst into tears. Their solutions were so loud and intense that they woke the girls in the nearby rooms, who soon perched on their doorstep, wanting to know what was going on. Hermione only realized she was being watched when she heard gasps of surprise and disgust, but she didn't care. She burst into tears with a giant smile on her face, throwing her body against Zornitsa's and hugging her tightly.
Zornitsa had never been emotionally involved with any of his girls, but the catastrophic state of that particular one had broken his heart. Hermione was exhausted, but all the mistreatment mixed with the magic of the trip had touched her system. Fearing the worst, Zornitsa did not like it when she fell asleep in his arms, calling one of the other girls and asking for a cloth with water. When the fever started, she feared that the girl would not endure. The thrill of being free would probably have been too much for your body. While Hermione slept, Zornitsa made a point of cleaning her body and taking care of her wounds, being surprised when at the end of the day the girl was awake and hungry. Forbidden to leave her room, Hermione obeyed and devoured the soup that the director was sending, restoring her strength before talking about the terms of work.
It was only on the third day at the house that Hermione was allowed to leave the room during the day. Already stronger and healed of the strongest injuries, the woman followed the director for a tour of the house.
-I am glad you recovered in such a short time.
-I wouldn't have minded if I hadn't. - Hermione was sincere.
-I figured I'd say that. I am sorry for whatever has gone on in those two years, but I already say that you will have all the care in our house. Nothing that happened there will happen here.
- You can't guarantee that.
-But of course I can! Any act that makes you uncomfortable has the right to refuse to do it. If the gentleman insists, just report that we can fix it.
-About that…. I know I have a price to pay.
-Ten years. Ten years working with us and you will be free. Your portkey cost ten thousand galleons, so a thousand galleons a year is more than enough.
Hermione paled.
-I don't really know how it works, but…. Do I need to make a thousand galleons or will the simple fact of working here pay the thousand galleons?
-Didn't you research who asked for help?
-I sent it to the nearest countries. I just wanted to get out of there.
Zornitsa was glad that she responded in time. The girl could have gotten into a much worse place thinking she was escaping.
-Night here has an average of 900 galleons. With two gentlemen, in theory you would have already paid your quota for the year, so your price will be for years. - Zornitsa noticed the question in her eyes, answering before she didn't have the courage. - We usually have an agreement with our girls for 40% of the night, but in their special condition ... We can wake up to 15%.
-Me…. I'll…. To receive?
-135 galleons. If you join during your entire service, you can start a new life here. It will also be enough for personal care…. By the way, where are your belongings?
-I only had togas and no bags, so I had to leave everything there.
Zornitsa took a deep breath. What the hell were they doing in the UK.
-We usually pay at the beginning of the month, but I will make an exception and give you an advance as soon as I have your first customer. Now, as for the rules: We start working hours at 5pm and go until 2am. Other houses only start at 9 pm, but as we serve an audience that likes to have fun after hours, we cover that time. You have the day to do what you want, but you need to be back for business. Medical expenses are at your expense, unless it was an accident at work. The room you spent the last few nights is yours, but you will have a work room on the second floor, which cleaning is up to you. Magic is only allowed in the room if requested by the client, so no wand.
-That won't be a problem. I have no magic.
-Pardon? I thought you said you were a Muggle born witch.
-And I was, until two years ago. They took my wand and broke it in front of me, but even if I bought a new one, it wouldn't work. I spent months suffering memory spells in the failed attempt to make me forget about the magical world, but it only took away some memories. I have no idea how to use magic or a wand, I don't remember where I studied and how to teleport, but I remember spells, people and events.
Zornitsa was horrified.
-If by any chance they try something against you, don't hesitate to report it. We have security for all the girls in the house, but don't worry. Our gentlemen are polite enough to do nothing. Now, contraceptive potions are on the house and must be taken daily. During your menstrual period you will be relocated to the bar, taking time off.
-As for that… .. I also don't know if it will be necessary.
Zornitsa dropped the papers in his hand on the floor.
-What did they do to you, Hermione?
-Deaths, cuts, kicks and torture all over my body, but mainly in my abdomen whenever they wanted to have fun. As much as I menstruate, I sincerely believe that it doesn't work anymore.
-Did you take potions?
-Never. The few girls who got pregnant had long torture sessions, not surviving forced abortion. It was two years of that, so I think that there is nothing to happen….
-Our potions are developed with protection against sexually transmitted diseases, so you will take it. I will make an appointment with our medluxo today, for a check up and soon after you can start.
Hermione nodded, tightening her body with nervousness.
-You'll be fine, girl…. In ten years you will be free from all of this.
-Me…. There's one more thing. Now that I'm here I have my doubts whether he will really keep his promise, but… ..
-You just need to tell me you had a lover there?
-It's like that….
-And he promised to visit you?
-He who sent the letter for me, and who showed me how to use a portkey.
-Normally we do not give discounts to customers, but after everything you've been through I can think of the case, if it appears.
-I would appreciate it very much.
***
The next night Hermione was a nervous wreck, but ready. Ten to five she was already in the lobby, showered and with her toga adjusted to her body. She had no idea what to do, so she had thought about watching other colleagues and trying to imitate them. The other women had sympathized with her story, but did not know how to get there, fearing they would lose their clientele. She was very beautiful after all.
Hiding among the furniture, Hermione twisted the hem of her toga, looking around. It was still quite empty, but some men were already making their strides. Unlike the diners, they were all very handsome (although Draco was more, personal taste). They shouldn't have reached the age of forty (which was a good thing, since she had bad memories with first and second generation diners). Some men were talking to each other, drinking, while others disappeared on the stairs with the escorts.
The women danced or approached to talk, as simple as that. Hermione could do that.
Leaving her hiding place, Hermione walked over to a padded bench that would be more visible, sitting there and starting to observe the environment better. It didn't take long to be noticed, being the target of ferocious looks.
-Who is she?
-Is she new?
-I've never seen a more beautiful woman!
Three boys asked, too bad she knew absolutely nothing about Bulgarian.
-Look how you're dressed, you're asking! - The greatest decreed, laughing at the robes. - This one wants something quick, sure. How did Madame Zornitsa allow someone like her to enter here?
That was the expensive problem she had said earlier. Zornitsa was not stupid, he was watching the youngest from an early age and as soon as he realized that the thug was going to invest, he immediately offered to offer drinks on the house for him and his group of friends, distracting from his main objective.
It didn't take long for a boy not much older to sit down next to Hermione, daring to bring up the subject.
-I've never seen you around here before.
-What? I'm sorry, but I don't speak your language.
The boy was startled. A foreigner?
-Enchanted. - He scratched his English, extending his hand, I get a shy laugh from the girl.
Was he supposed to say hello to her like that? Well, it was 110% better than being pointed out by those wizards.
The boy even tried, but failed to form a decent sentence with his English, so he decided to be direct. He looked into her eyes and indicated the stairs with his head, knowing it was clear language that she would certainly understand. He found it cute when her cheeks went pink, with her nodding slightly. This was definitely her first time at it, she had no idea what to do. Afraid, Hermione took the boy's hands and went up with him, embarrassed when she missed the door to her room and found a couple finishing the program. The boy laughed at his confusion, wondering if she really was a virgin or not.
Hermione didn't know whether to kiss on the mouth or not, but she sincerely preferred not to. Her kisses had been exchanged only and exclusively with Draco and she wouldn't want to share them with anyone else, but before she could think of anything else, she felt soft lips kiss her neck. In a startled jump, Hermione clung to the boy, who was drawing circles at the base of his back with his thumbs. Dimitri wouldn't normally be so thoughtful and caring like that, but he could see how nervous she was.
It took Hermione a few seconds to calm down and relax. He wasn't hurting, he was trying to give her pleasure. Taking a deep breath she stood on tiptoe and smoothed her chest, kissing where her mouth reached. With shy kisses on her neck, she took more confidence and unbuttoned the buttons on her shirt, throwing it on the floor as soon as she felt her toga being taken off. She was quicker and opened the button of her pants, she didn't want him to see her body and give up so quickly. Dimitri was more entertained with small hands that explored his body to notice the woman's skin. As soon as she finished undressing him, he moved closer and pushed her over to the bed, where she fell comfortably. Dimitri finally looked at her for real, widening his eyes at what he saw. Certainly her medium breasts were a temptation, her thin waist made her want to grab and her intimacy was designed to make her mouth water, but…. She was covered in scars! Long and short, in addition to MUDBLOOD stuck in his forearm.
-Country? - He scratched with his English, curious.
-Voldemort. - She was more emphatic, seeing the boy's eyes widen in fear, next to his erection pump.
Afraid of not getting rid of all her past, she started to cringe, looking for a scarf to cover and hide when she felt a hand holding her. Dimitri was frightened by what he saw, but it hadn't diminished his interest in her. Laying her down again, he sinks down under it and captured one of her nipples with his mouth, willing to make her forget her reaction. Hermione was confused, wasn't she supposed to be licking him? But if he didn't do that, she might not be able to receive him. Relaxing, he felt his feathers open of their own accord, groaning when Dimitri's hands roamed over his body, sucking harder on his nipple.
He massaged her thighs, urging her to open up even more. When he abandoned her breast and directed his kisses to her intimacy, Hermione sighed loudly, curling her hips to capture him. Dimitri's face was close to his intimacy, licking his lips at the sight: nothing less than a small triangle of brown hair in his mound, with the rest smooth. Its moisture began to drain, glowing with the dim lighting of the room. No longer waiting to fall out of the mouth, Dimitri kissed her lips before giving small licks to her clitoris, turning Hemrione's hips on automatically, enjoying how she moaned.
This was the second person who did an oral on Hermione, and however much in her heart it hurt to feel like she was cheating on Draco, that was her job, whether she wanted it or not. Throwing those thoughts into the back of her brain, she had the strength to lift her body up and indicate to Dimitri that he should get on the bed. As soon as he lay down, he was surprised that she knelt against his body, prancing his ass and snapping his cock, leaving him confused where to look. Okay, she might not be a virgin, but it was definitely her first time there.
His mouth went up and down slowly, being guided by the strong sighs the boy gave, along with the caresses he gave on his ass. When he ventured his fingers through her wet folds, Hermione choked on his member, rearing up further and giving him room to go deeper. She herself had already partially forgotten what was going on, getting tired of sucking on him when he started to penetrate her with his fingers. She was ready, she would do that. Riding on his body, Hermione positioned her member better and sat down slowly against him, having Dimitri's hands on her waist for support. She took some time to assimilate that she was not being forced to do anything or that she was hurting her, smiling when she saw that he was waiting for her and probably understood what was going on in his head with such scars. When she took the first seat, Dimitri gasped. When she gave the second, he squeezed her waist tightly. In the third, he helped her to set the pace, with a thumb massaging her clitoris. Hermione felt the pleasure rise in her head, then taking her body on top of his, letting him stock her will. Dimitri had a strong, fast rhythm, drawing high moans from her, which contracted his intimacy and left him slightly deaf. He soon got tired and turned them on the bed, getting on top. Dimitri hid his face in Hermione's neck, going even deeper, with her choking on the painful depth, pushing him slightly and shaking her head. He understood, continuing his fast pace, strong but not so deep. He liked it when she lost her hands in his hair, hugging him with her arms, but he liked it even more with the high-pitched scream she gave, shaking violently beneath her, but I didn't understand what the hell she had been shouting.
He didn't take long to come, quickly withdrawing and pouring himself on his belly, falling beside him to catch his breath.
-OK? - It was your way of asking if she was all right.
Hermione stared at the ceiling, breathing hard. Half of her body felt that she had betrayed Draco because she felt pleasure and made fun of the boy, but the other part was happy just because she felt pleasure and made fun of someone else. Seeing that she was not responding, Dimitri dressed quickly and went to look for the head of the house, being genuinely concerned for the girl.
When Zornitsa entered the room, Hermione was cleaning herself, her features stunned.
-It's good for you today, dear. Get some rest.
That had been a major breakthrough for Hermione Granger and her release from Voldemort.
Too bad she had screamed for Draco while she came.
Something inside said he wouldn't show up in two weeks.

Prolog | Edno
Prolog
-CALL THE LORD! - Bellatrix Lestrange had been excited to notice the sudden guests arriving at Malfoy Manor that evening.
-NO! JUST DO THIS IF YOU ARE SURE IT'S POTTER! - Lucius, although excited, was the more focused of the two, knowing what he would suffer if they were wrong.
-Draco, dear, can you recognize him?
-Me…. I don't think it is…. - Draco knew very well who they were, but he couldn't tell the truth. If he opened his beak, he would become a murderer.
-Foolish! That's his bad blood friend!
The golden trio had been captured hours earlier while they were hiding in the forest, fleeing the Death Eaters. They had been taken to Malfoy Manor, and as surprising as it was, Draco Malfoy was trying to help them, pulling his ass off the line, pretending not to recognize them. That could not mean the end for them, they had to have a chance to escape and break into the Lestrange vault. There had to be a way.
But unfortunately that was a fantasy reality.
Harry and Ron were taken to the dungeons, while Hermione was tortured by Bellatriz Lestrange. Despite his screams invading the whole house for hours on end, it wasn't over yet. Lord Voldemort had been summoned and before the boys managed to find a way to escape, Harry Potter was dead.
-NO! - Hermione and Ron screamed when they saw the body of their best friend falling lifeless on the floor, to the sound of the triumphant laughter of Tom Riddle and his diners.
Harry James Potter was dead.
Lord Voldemort had triumphed in his plan for English domination - at least in what hindered him eighteen years ago.
Ronald Weasley was furious and without his right mind. Losing his head, he tried to attack the Lord from behind - being alerted by Hermione's hysterical screams. In less than a second he lay passed out on the floor, unarmed and immobile. Hermione was still on the floor, looking at the whole scene with tears and sobs coming out of her mouth, trying to find some way to get away with her friends - even if it was just not to allow Harry's body to remain in the dark realms - but nothing his mind was coming. Everyone was ecstatic to give any importance to the girl, who appeared to be too destroyed to try anything.
-What are your orders, my lord? - Bellatriz was stunning, with sparkle in her eyes and a manic smile. - Potter and his friends will never interfere with us again!
-We need to make some arrangements before we celebrate, Bella. - Voldemort spoke softly. - Make sure that bad blood does not escape or see daylight until further notice. Ah, also arrest the blood traitor.
When strong hands lifted Hermione by the arms, she screamed again.
-No, no, NO! LEAVE ME, LEAVE ME! - She kicked, clinging to any spark of hope that she would run away. - YOU DON'T NEED ME! LEAVE ME!
-That's where you are wrong. - Tom Riddle addressed her for the first time. - Now that everything is over, I need you to set an example to the other filthy people that pollute our magical community.
-What are you going to do with me? - Fear was in his voice.
-First, ensure that you no longer have access to your wand. Bellatrix….
The witch appropriately took Lucius' wand and broke it in front of the girl, laughing when a new stream of tears fell from her eyes.
-Now…. You must return to the place you belong. All magic will be erased from your memory and you will forget that you are a witch, you will never set foot in the magical world again.
-Are you going to erase your own memory? You are not purebred, you are the son of a muggle! She screamed at the top of her lungs, receiving a sharp slap across her face, along with another cruciatus curse.
-AAAAHHHHH !!!! - The diners who held her prevented her from throwing herself against the cold floor to ease the pain.
-Enjoy your last moments here, you filth.
Hermione and Ron were carried into the dungeon, leaving the older ones to party in the hall - with a terrified Draco in the corner. Harry's body was still thrown together with Dobby's in the center of the room, as if it were nothing. It turned his stomach and heart, he hoped that the trio would succeed in overcoming the Dark Lord, that he would be able to escape all of that, but now his life was lost.
He would be forced to remain in that den of wickedness until the end of his days.
***
December 1998
Witch England was devastated. Darkness and darkness dominated every particle of magic that existed throughout its length. Since Harry Potter's body was exposed at the Ministry months ago, everything had been noisy. Openly taking control of the Ministry and school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Voldemort had power over everything and everyone.
Harry Potter did not get the rest he deserved with his parents. No, it was given as a dinner for Nagini and a public square, horrifying the entire community even more. Minerva McGonagall had suffered a heart attack, but even though she recovered, she wished she hadn't. The whole diabolical plan to erase the memory of Muggle-borns shook his entire school, with children and adolescents screaming in panic at the arrival of diners for this feat, but months later when the result proved ineffective, more severe measures were taken.
Voldemort considered them as scum of society, even worse than house elves - since they were at least creatures of magical blood. With a decree, the memories stopped being erased, since they deserved to suffer much more, obeying their superiors. Hermione Granger had been the first to suffer intense oblivities in the public square, infuriating diners when none of it worked. Thinking it was the fault of their brilliant mind, they tortured it to exhaustion, when again it tried to oblivize it, again without success.
It was precisely for this reason that days before Christmas 1998 Hermione was removed from her prison, being forced to a far more cruel destiny: all Muggle-blooded witches between the ages of eighteen and thirty who had not yet escaped the wizarding world would be enslaved. It had inspired Hermione Granger's fury, but that was not the Lord's expected reaction. Wanting to make her suffer, he added the word sexually to the decree, creating a harem for diners. The tears of terror that welled up in the girl once again had won the wizard's day, delighting in the fear he was getting.
Muggle-blooded children under fifteen were expelled from Hogwarts, with their wands broken. Men between the ages of eighteen and fifty became servants, with the death penalty for those trying to escape. Hermione tried in vain to take his life on that fateful day, but no one was willing to help him with that.
The Weasley’s had been forgiven for having pure blood, but were prevented from trying to recover their friend from bad blood. Weeping, Ron and his brothers saw no alternative but to get out of the country as quickly as possible, while still making it across borders.
As much as it hurt in their hearts, there was no escape for Hermione. It was a struggle for their lives, which they would unfortunately die if they tried to rescue her.
She never wanted so badly to be oblivious.

With Love, Draco - Book 1
With Love, Draco, by MariDiniz and SofiaGirard
Rated: E
Pairing: Hermione Granger X Draco Malfoy; Narcisa Malfoy X Olivier D’Fay Bauffremont
Summary: Draco discovered himself as the biggest lie the Malfoy family has ever hidden. And now that was his secret too, because if one day the truth came out, everything he loved most could be taken from him.
Involved in a plot of lies and betrayals, Draco must find a way to survive and hide his secret. He needed to protect his mother and partner, in addition to fulfilling his mission, even if it meant giving up who he truly loves and just watching her from afar.
"Wiltshire, England. Sunday, August 3, 1997.
Hermione Jane Granger,
This is one of the only letters I never had the courage to deliver. I'm not who you think. In fact, not even I know who I am, at least not anymore. I have lived my whole life believing in a lie, taking pride in something that was not even and serving those who propagate that lie. I know I don't have the right to write to you, but I don't have much time left, today I was sure of that. I've been doomed since the damn day that Lucius Malfoy decided to serve that monster, decided to fight his war and dragged me into this disgrace (...)"
Book 1 of the "Chronicles of a D'Fay" trilogy
- I will make the Unbreakable Vow. And perhaps, your sister will accept to be our Guarantor.
Bellatrix's jaw dropped in shock she really believed Severus would never put his own life at risk, even if it was for Draco. Ira dominated the witch. That kid should start to learn to solve his own problems, and not always have someone behind making sure he made things basket! Snape, for his part, knelt down in front of Narcissa before the haunted look of Bellatrix, they put their right hands together while listening to her friend start the vote.
- You, Severus, watch over my son Draco especially when he is trying to fulfill the Dark Lord's wish?
- I 'll take care.
A thin tongue of living fire came out of Bellatrix's wand that was standing close to hands joined and wrapped around Severo and Narcissa's palms.
- And will do everything possible to protect him from evil?
- I will.
A second tongue of fire came out of the wand and intertwined with the first, forming a thin luminous current.
- And if necessary ... if it seems Draco will fail, you will finish the task that Did the Dark Lord assign Draco to perform?
There was a moment of silence.
- I conclude - Snape swore.
The flash of the third tongue of fire illuminated the room, they curled into each other
and closed around the hands forming a serpent of fire. The two got up and without a word the sisters left the house. Narcissa waited for Bela to Apparate and turned to Severus, who remained with the door ajar.
- I must tell you something else ... - whispered. - Draco is not the son of Lucius.
