My birthday is Tuesday so I've taken Mon and Tues off and I am DETERMINED to spend three days (Sun Mon Tues) JUST writing and doing art.

I solemnly swear that I will not work in my yard or spend all day cleaning. I will not do any favors or give any rides.

For three days I will relax goddamnit. I will just be creative and have a good time. I will write, draw, paint, and take naps and walks with my dogs.

I will tell everyone I am busy and make no plans and maybe get a bit of mental health back for my birthday. Weeeee

Ok, I have wondered this for a long time, but been too afraid of sounding stupid to ask. BUT this is tumblr, and we have polls, so here we go off the ledge.

It has always confused me when people say an animated character is hot, especially anime or simple drawings. I can only see a few lines and that's it, I don't visually fill in the blanks of animation or drawings.

Maybe the X factor is the way our brains can imagine or not imagine additional information, maybe visuals. I am not internally visual, so when I read, I don't 'see' things. (it's fuzzy and wordy in there). But I could be totally wrong.

So here is my question. If you are attracted to animated characters, or find them hot, or fantasize about them, do any of these fit you?

And PLEASE do tags or replies I am so fascinated, and it's not like they do scientific studies on animation and visual brains vs not visual brains plus horniness. (at least not to my knowledge)

So I went to a pastels class tonight. I thought it would be an intro. It was just the class on the night I have available and I want to start learning to use color.

But it was like a super advanced group of people who just do projects together.

I was so lost. I was in the deep end. I do not know how to hold a pastel or how to do strokes with it. I did not know what she was talking about with cool and complimentary colors and greens with blues. I have heard of this thing called color theory but I know nothing.

My work looks like a kindergartner 😭😂 (we did a “under painting” with watercolor to add dimension)

I have to figure out whether to pull way back and learn more on my own before I go back to this class. Or just flail around until I learn to swim.

I'm not so great at painting. I never quite know what I'm doing, but I don't mind this one.

Now that I'm tracing and using references, I'm loving learning to draw. I don't feel so discouraged by the fact that I can't just do everything from my head immediately.

It scratches a different itch from writing, because I take my writing suuuper seriously and I'd like to do it for a living one day. I push myself hard to improve, and it's a part of my self identity I think, for good or for bad. I care deeply how other people react to it.

The drawing is just...I want more ways to express my love for stories and fictional characters. This is just one hundred per cent indulgent, which is liberating.

I'm still me, so I want to improve all the time (it's a thing) but the end goal is seriously just to make pretty, sexy, creepy, or whatever cool shit for stuff I love. And while I loveeee compliments, ultimately I am not bothered if people like it or not, because that's beside the point.

This must be how people with healthy relationships to their writing feel. XD

I agree and I LOVE how cheerful and carefree she was accepting his ‘no’. (Because that’s what his awkward distress was). Queen of enthusiastic consent.

I know that may sound like a low bar but unfortunately it is rarely depicted like that, or even more unfortunately experienced like that.

The flip side of toxic masculinity is that when you insist that all men want to have sex at any moment with anything that moves, women who have internalized this can react with distress when rejected (oh what’s wrong with me am I ugly gross etc etc). That puts pressure and guilt back on the guy. It creates a sadly common toxic interaction consent wise.

I loved to see her react like she would to anything else that’s not about her! Casual and cheerful and kind. I thought it was refreshing.

Gotta admit, I love how Lucy 100% took maximus seriously and didnt degrade him for not knowing basic sex ed

I'm watching the blue eyed Samurai right now - which I can highly recommend it's really cool drawn (I'm only 3 Episodes in right now but it also only has 8) and interesting characters many with disabilities - anyways the Main character is followed by another Guy and they have a bit Geralt (blue eyed Samurai) and Jaskier (Guy who follows them who is always humming and wants to Help) vibes.

Their Resolution to keep the guy from following them? Buying him three nights in a Brothel🤣 now I can't Stop thinking about Geralt doing the same at the beginning when he still tries to get rid of Jaskier (yeah I know He doesn't have that kind of Money, but still...)

I started that show too! I have only watched one (two?) eps but yes the dynamic is there, the loner warrior and the optimistic sweet guy who just wants to leave his life and dedicate himself to the warrior.

Honestly I would have preferred Geralt buy Jaskier nights in a brothel than punch him! Not only would it have been nicer, it would have been far more effective! (yes I'm still bitter about that lmao)
