you can have a brain and acknowledge the inherent misogyny and discrimination that fuels mcu's worst arcs or you can call their only canon jewish woman a nazi and hc the white billionaire whose entire arc is learning how to not kill brown ppl as the pinnacle of minority rep
Very iconic when the infinity stones decided the world needed a break after the last five years and went "guys, this one is on us. Two supervillains for the price of one" and killed tony stark
...how can someone be this fucking oblivious to how they sound?
Tony: *signs the Accords, a document full of human rights violations, including forcing people to be monitored at all times and give up biological samples so they can be studied like fucking lab rats*
Steve: *fights against the Accords, which allow people to be held indefinitely without trial on an UNDERWATER PRISON*
This author: Steve would turn in Laura, a young girl who was created and then abused by the same people he fought against and who took his closest friend from him, while Tony, who went after Clint’s family after locking Clint in aforementioned underwater prison for no other reason than Clint daring to take a stand against him, would a) have mutant contacts and b) NOT choose to let SHIELD take a person he probably views as nothing more than an interesting piece of biological engineering.
Also, “the tendency of the Avengers and SHIELD to ignore everything he has to say” oh you mean like the sexism he showed towards Natasha? Or how he brought up the recent and extraordinary traumatic events Steve went through after knowing him for five minutes? Or how he made numerous rape jokes? Or how he risked getting his so-called best friend expelled from the military with what was also a transphobic joke? Or any of the other countless things he’s said for no other reason than to mock and belittle the people around him? Because at a certain point I’d stop listening too.
If Marvel hadn't been cowards they would have made Peter a true gen z kid and he would have roasted like 80% of the avengers and the gotg within the first 10 minutes for either racism, sexism or cultural appropriation
Its so hilarious that the tony stans latched on to Dr strange and hyped Ir*nstrange to the max and then Strange turned out to be the biggest tony anti and got him killed I C O N I C
All of the Robins COULD beat the actual fuck out of Tony Stark. Damian Jason would with minimal provocation. Dick and Steph would take more pushing, but past a certain point they undoubtedly would. Tim is somewhere in the middle, but he would be the one to beat Tony most utterly and completely.
Look i don't read dc comics but from what I've learned from others.... This person is 100% correct
[Captions: Look I really love both Marvel and DC and uh I just- I really feel the need to get up on this platform that I have and say that: Damian Wayne would beat the actual fuck out of Tony Stark... And I live by that
Okay, so there are 31 works on Steve Rogers tag with add tag 'Not T.ny Stark friendly' on AO3 and 410 works on T.ny Stark tag with add tag 'Not Steve Rogers friendly' (66 out of them are St.ny works)
i know we joke about steve being an angri ball of energy or whatever but the man wrote a letter asking for forgiveness from someone who tried to kill his best friend. ok once again. he wrote a LETTER asking for FORGIVENESS from someone who tried to KILL his BEST FRIEND. no offence but steve rogers is a kind and patient ball of empathy. tony has NEVER apologised for his actions. not once in all of the thirteen films he was in.
i just don't understand how like. steve decided to own up to his mistakes and approach his teammate with such... calm compassion. how was he not furious about the fact that he and bucky had to incapacitate tony bc like, he was not gonna stop until one or both of them were dead? how did he do that. he said im sorry, and if you need me, here's my number. wtf.
1) I don’t think anyone is calling Spider-Man homecoming ‘Iron Man 4’. People DO say that it made Peter too much like Iron Man, but I haven’t seen anyone claiming that it’s Iron Man 4 (plus, we all know what RDJ considers Iron Man 4)
2) ‘Tony is the one character who actually fits as a supporting character for a Spider-Man movie’
Haha, wtf no?? First, Peter doesn’t need a mentor for it to be a good Spider-Man movie. He didn’t have one in either of the first two franchises and they worked great. Second, Tony is the exact OPPOSITE of an ideal mentor for Peter. Tony is an old tech billionaire who builds his tech using the finest materials, fancy software, and literally AI. Peter is a broke high schooler who builds his tech out of scraps fished out of dumpsters. They do not match up. Peter fights street crime and takes down mostly local threats that sometimes turn into larger threats. Tony pretty much exclusively only handles global catastrophes. Tony doesn’t work as a good mentor because he can’t give Peter relatable advice, they don’t have similar lifestyles.
3) this guilt bullshit
I’ll be honest, I’m struggling to understand the point here. All superheros have felt guilty or been unable to save someone at some point.
4) The father/son dynamic
I think you need to re-evaluate your definition of what a healthy father/son mentor/mentee relationship is. If Tony cared about Peter’s safety he shouldn’t have brought him to Germany in the first place. And in Homecoming the relationship just got worse. There was almost ZERO communication between Tony and Peter (which, as a child of divorce, I can tell you is essential to a good relationship). When they did communicate, it was mostly Tony chastising Peter. This is not a good or healthy relationship.
5) “Tony is literally the only character in the MCU that would work as a supporting character in a Spider-Man movie at this point”
False. Uncle Ben and Aunt May both exist and could have had much more prominent roles. Also, Scott Lang and Matt Murdock exist and live in New York.
6) you don’t need Tony Stark to show that Peter is a ‘small guy in a big world he’s not ready for yet’ literally all you have to do is show him getting in over his head.
7) yeah, people probably wouldn’t complain as much if captain American was Peter’s ‘mentor’ bc at least he can relate more to Peter than Tony can. He grew up poor, his father died before he knew him and his mother died when he was 18. He’s enhanced so he understands the difficulties in having increased senses, particularly strength. I don’t think he would be the ideal mentor because he isn’t known as a ‘tech’ guy and I think Peter would be intimidated by his legacy, but he would be better than Tiny lol.
