Jealous Advice
Tumblr media
Request: Anonymous: some good old fashioned jealous!kara x reader? maybe they aren’t dating yet and lena is being her typical flirty self with r, kara kinda loses her cool? Jajaja
Summary: You seek out Kara for some journalism advice, but wind up having a strange encounter with your boss, Lena Luthor, and Kara is NOT happy about it.
Warnings: I think there are a few swear words in this? Jealousy, mild sexual themes.
Word Count: 1,171
A/N: I don't usually write things like this, but I’m trying to go out of my comfort zone! Sorry if Kara is out of character, I’m a bit rusty with writing her!
The sound of ruffling papers, ringing phones, and rushed chatter echo in your head as you sip at the coffee warming your palms, your eyes never once leaving the computer screen in front of you. You had been working on an editorial piece that dealt with the new plans introduced by the mayor, something about a new park downtown. Something didn’t feel rite with how you were writing today, you just credited it to your lack of sleep this week. Either way, you certainly needed some advice, and you knew just who to ask. Now where was that favorite reporter of yours..? Kara typically hangs out by the fridge in the break room, always looking for snacks, might as well check there first.
You set down your mug, and began to walk towards the breakroom, weaving in and around people bustling about. Catco was absolutely slammed with stories, supergirl had saved the city not two days ago, and crime was rampant, as well as news in the local business scene. Too many stories, too little time. Everyone was swamped, hence the hustle of the office. You nearly slammed into an intern as you turned the corner near the elevator.
You eventually made it to the break room, opening the glass door and walking right in. “Y/N! What a pleasure it is to see you!”
You had expected Kara to be halfway into the fridge, but instead, your boss Lena Luthor leaned over the coffee maker, staring at you with a smile.
“Oh! Hello Mrs. Luthor! I was just looking for Ka-”
“Call me Lena, Dear. Coffee?” She asks, raising her eyebrows and gesturing to the nearly full pot.
“Lena! Alright! Sure, I would love some.” You respond, too nervous to tell her you had just finished your fourth cup.
Kara was walking out of the elevator from an early lunch break when she picks up your conversation with Lena using her super-hearing. She knew better than to eavesdrop. But she could tell Lena was acting different, and plus, she always liked to know what you were up to. Maybe it was her crush on you, but regardless you fascinated her. She walked to the corner near the door, and acted as if she was reading one of the framed magazines on the wall as she continued to listen in intently.
“How is your piece on the mayor coming along?” She asks you inquisitively as she pours the coffee into a plain navy blue mug. Before you have time to answer she remembers: “Two creams and six sugars, right?” She looks at you with raised eyebrows.
“Yeah! How did you..?” “How could I ever forget, your heart is almost as sweet as your coffee.” Her smirk was audible in her tone, making you blush slightly as you turned your head away to hide it. You couldn’t believe it, was Lena flirting? No, no way… she is like this with everyone… right? You thought.
Kara clenches her jaw nearly as hard as she was clenching her fists. Hearing Lena flirt with you was infuriating. Honestly, her reaction shocked her. She knew she liked you, but she had no idea she liked you enough to get… dare I say… jealous. No, no way. Kara never gets jealous. I’m sure Lena is only joking anyways. She thinks, attempting to reassure herself. She activates her xray vision, just to be sure.
Lena walks over to you, giving you the fresh mug of coffee, cupping her hands over yours. They linger there for slightly longer than normal, eliciting yet another blush to warm your cheeks. She reaches up silently and tucks your hair behind your ear, smiling slyly at you. Lena opens her mouth to say something, but before she can even take a breath, the door  to the break room slams open, scaring both of you half to death. The noise causes you to jump slightly, sending coffee spilling over the sides of the mug, and flowing over your fingers, causing you to release a sharp intake of breath through clenched teeth as your fingers burn from the heat of the fresh coffee. Lena moves away from you quickly, and watches you burn your hands. You both look up simultaneously, realizing the source of the violent entrance was Kara, who stood in the doorway almost visibly fuming with anger.
You quickly set down your mug, and shake the pain off of your hands, as Lena rushes over to you with a cold wet towel, to ease the burning on your fingers. She asks if you were alright, but you didn’t even register her speaking to you over the sight of Kara so angry staring at you.
“Kara… hey, is everything okay? I was looking for you, I needed some advice on-” You begin to say, tentatively and softly, worried about making her more upset than she already was.
“Lena. What was that?” Kara demands, her eyes seemingly burning holes into Lena.
“Excuse me?” She says, shocked.
“What are you thinking? You flirting with Y/N?” She says, her words laced with hate.
“Well, I’ll be damned.” Lena says. “If I had known you had a crush on Y/N I wouldn’t have bothered!” You blushed at Lena’s words, before your eyebrows crinkled together in confusion… wait what?
“I don’t have-!” Kara starts, before Lena cuts her off.
“Sure you don’t, Danvers. She’s all yours.” Lena puts her hands up in the air in a surrender like motion, before walking towards the door. “She seems to have burned her fingers though, so make sure you take a look at that. She needs those for writing, among other things.” Lena shoots a wink your way, before leaving the breakroom. Creating a terribly awkward silence between the two of you, as you clutch the wet rag to your hands.
You stand there, your eyes locked with Kara’s, as she puts her hand behind her neck uncomfortably, well aware that she just exposed her crush for you. You weren’t sure what was better, Lena Luthor flirting with you, your semi-full cup of coffee, or how cute Kara looked in her blue blouse. Is that new? You thought. Regardless, Kara was interested in you, and you were interested in her. As you stared at each other in silence, you both reached an unspoken understanding that things are going to be a LOT different from here on out.
“Can I take you out for coffee sometime?” Kara says, so quickly and loudly you could barely understand it. She seemed eager to break the silence.
“Well, seeing as my fifth cup of the day just burned my hands… it would be smart for me to say no to coffee today.” You say, holding up your hands slightly for emphasis. Kara’s expression turns from nervousness to disappointment instantly, and your heart breaks slightly before you say “But I’m free tomorrow if you are!” Her face lights up and she responds:
“It’s a date, then?”
“It’s a date.” You say with a small laugh.

Request: Yes! From @yanginthere (Request is too long to have in header)
Summary: You get a mild case of hypothermia working at noonans one winter day and Alex comes home to find you in bad shape. She comforts you, and a little bit of hurt/comfort occurs.
Warnings: Mentions of illness/hypothermia. Self doubt, depressing themes. Cursing. Hurt/comfort slightly.
Word Count: 1,709
A/N: I’m not as happy with this one as I wanted to be! But I rewrote it about three times before it was good enough to post! I hope this is alright!
“Off to work already, Y/N?”
“You know me!” You say with a light laugh as you place a quick but loving kiss on your girlfriend’s cheek.
“Oh no you don’t” Alex says, as she wraps her arms around your waist, pulling you into a close hug. You smile sweetly and soak in the hug as much as you can. You look up into her eyes, and grin widely before grabbing your car keys off of their hook by the apartment door.
“You’ve been working an awful lot lately.” She says from behind you.
“You know how noonan’s gets around the holidays… Especially with Kara as out number one customer. But hey! It’s not like I’m out saving the world or anything!!!”
“Hey… Saving the world or not, It’s still cold outside, and I know the kitchen heater broke last week. Just- be careful for me, alright?” Alex responds, her tone more serious than you expected.
“I’ll be safe if you will, Agent Danvers.”
With one final firm kiss you say goodbye to your loving girlfriend and make your way out the door to head to work.
The second you left your apartment building, the shocking cold air slammed into you with a forceful gust of wind. You pulled on your coat, and wrapped your arms around your sides, sprinting on your tiptoes to your car. You pull hard against the wind to slam the door to your car as you sit down on the chilled leather. Your car sputters slightly before finally starting, the cold weather making it difficult to get going. It seems like it takes ages to heat up, but eventually you start to drive towards noonans. It’s only about a seven minute drive, and you take your usual parking spot on the street next to the staff entrance.
You wave hello to your manager and immediately get to work. It seems pretty okay at first, but the cold of the kitchen starts to get to you a bit, with your nose beginning to run, growing numb, and your fingers get sore. To make matters worse, it was an incredibly busy day, and you simply didn’t have time to take a break, fulfilling constant orders. It wasn't long before you developed a pretty nasty headache, and your coat simply wasn't warm enough for you.
Six hours later and your shift was finally coming to a close, thankfully. It was the middle of the afternoon, but it was so incredibly overcast it seemed like it was dusk. The cold outside was somehow worse than inside, and you said goodbye to your coworkers before beginning the walk to your car. You could barely walk in a straight line, the pounding from your head making it feel like you were about to be sick. You placed your hand against your left temple in a protective motion, stumbling as you walked. In the time you were working, it had begun to rain, which is NOT what you wanted to hear, seeing as your rickety old car tends to refuse to start when it gets frozen over.
Sure enough, the second you turn your key in the ignition, your heart sinks. You are met with a rattle, a grind, a rattle again, and then nothing. Sighing loudly, you put your head in your freezing cold hands, your fingers numb to the touch. You tried all day to keep your stress in, but things just keep getting worse. You sit there, and erupt into tears. You end up crying in your car alone for upwards of ten minutes, before deciding to check your phone, contemplating calling Alex. Shit… she’s on a mission with Kara today… You felt like your day was getting away from you, forgetting even the most recent conversations you had. You shake your head and decide to set off on foot to head home, hopeful to make it relatively quickly, despite the rain. You were just looking forward to curling up in a warm bed with Alex.
Low and behold, it starts to not snow, not rain, but SLEET as you get about four minutes into your thirty minute walk home. You bow your head and clench your jaw, walking quicker, willing yourself to make it. Your clothes dampen up pretty quickly, the cold of the water seeping into your skin, coating you uncomfortably. The sound of the rain on the streets intermingling with the honking of cars, falls on deaf ears, as you begin to experience some kind of cloud over your consciousness. Barely able to walk straight, you begin to walk at a slant, slamming your shoulder into a corner store brick wall, but this barely elicits a whimper out of you, almost entirely unable to process what is happening.
You must’ve walked through four red lights, and you’re lucky you weren't hit by a car, but you finally made it home. Mostly frozen water drips off of your pants and pools into your boots as your shaky hands fumble through your pockets to find your house key. Eventually you manage to unlock the door, but you are shaking so profusely that you are barely able to even turn the knob.
You figured you should probably get out of your wet clothes, but you were so tired… you just didn't have the energy to slip off your jacket. Actually, you didn't even have the energy to make it to your room. You place your hands on the kitchen counter and sway slightly, shaking your head trying to snap out of your freezing daze. The breath leaves your chest and the world goes dark around you as you collapse onto the tile floor.
“Y/N?” Keys jingle together as Alex walks inside, a tired smile on her face, relieved to finally be home to see you.
“Baby? Are you home?” She calls out, bummed at the thought that you might’ve gone out to get food without her.
She rounds the corner to walk into the kitchen, and her coat falls out of her arms as she sees your sopping wet form completely motionless on the floor. She rushes over to you, sitting on her knees, and takes your head in her hands, brushing your hair out of your face.
“Y/N?!” She says, panic clear in her voice. You murmur slightly in response, barely coherent.
“Oh my god you’re freezing cold.” She feels your cheek with the back of her hand. “Let’s get these wet rags off of you.” She scoops you up into her arms and carries you to the bathroom, slowly beginning to peel layer after layer of clothing off of your limp body. Your eyes flutter open and closed, occasionally letting out a slurred comment or two.She shushes you and cups your face in her hand.
Your eyes open slowly and you take in your surroundings, confused. You had no idea how you got home, or how you ended up wrapped in your favorite blanket with a warm cup of tea in your lap, but what you did know is that you were with Alex, and that she was taking care of you. You found yourself cozied up in bed, with your favorite show put on, and Alex holding you in her arms. She feels you slowly coming to, and rubs your arm saying: “Hey… how’re you feeling?”
“I- I’m okay I think…” You say, confused. “What happened?” “I was going to ask you the same thing.”
“The last thing I remember is my car breaking down outside of work, and then this.”
“Your car broke down?” Alex says, sitting up to get a better look at you..
“Yeah I-” “Why didn't you call? You walked home in the rain, you could've died!” Alex sounded frustrated, but there was no anger in her voice, just concern.
“I didn’t want to bother you… you and Kara were out there doing heroic things and actually making a difference in society, I was just working in a stupid kitchen without a heater.” Your voice cracks slightly as you speak.
“Still no heater? I’m going to have some choice words with your manager…” Alex says more to herself than to you. “You could’ve called, baby. It doesn't matter what I’m doing, your safety is far more important to me.” She turns your chin up to hers so that you are staring directly into each other's eyes. You pull away gently, looking to your feet. Causing a small frown to show on Alex’s face.
“I don't like bothering you. I dont matter half as much as you do anyways, I mean, why would someone like you take the time to help me? I’m not even out of college yet, and I can't handle myself. You’d think a soon to be ER doctor could self diagnose hypothermia, but apparently not. I’m too busy bein-” You hadn't even noticed yourself derailing until you were already sobbing.
“Hey hey hey, it’s okay.” Alex says as she pulls you closer, wrapping her arms around you. You cry silently into her arms as she begins to think about everything you just said. You sit there together, shaking and sniffling until she finally pulls away and positions herself directly in front of you. She puts your face in her hands and locks eyes with you.
“You, Y/N, are far from the burden that you think you are. You are so incredibly important to me and to others. Never, NEVER think less of yourself. Especially in a situation where you could have gotten hurt. You can always call me, no matter what. Supergirl can handle herself. I love that you are strong. I love that you are hard working, despite those terrible conditions. I love that you put others first. I love that you care. I love YOU so incredibly much-” She stops, realizing that she just said that she loved you for the first time since you had started dating.
“Alex…” You respond slowly.
“Hey it’s okay. You don’t need to respond. I just want you to know that you matter to me.” She pulls you closer.
“I love you too” You mumble, cuddling up against her chest and closing your eyes. You were so comfortable in that moment. You were finally so… warm.

Nothing, Nobody
Part 1
Tumblr media
Request: Nope! I wanted to indulge myself for my first fic back!
Summary: B!D tries to find her girlfriend, Lena, but instead finds the last person she wanted to run into, Kara, infected with red Kryptonite.
Warnings: Violence, Cursing, Abuse, and a LOT of Angst.
Word Count: 1,432
A/N: Hey guys, long time no see! I wanted to start back up with something I really wanted to write. I’m incredibly rusty. It’s been well over a year since I last wrote, so please bare with me.
You let out a massive yawn, stretching your legs and rubbing your eyes slightly as the harsh blue light from your phone illuminates the entire room. You wince slightly as you squint, picking up your phone to see what all the commotion was about. Four missed calls from Alex, and six missed calls from Lena. You mumble obscenities under your breath as you get a rapid string of texts from Alex.
“Y/N It’s Kara. She got exposed to red kryptonite again, find Lena and get somewhere safe NOW.” You let out a soft gasp. You remember what happened the last time Kara had been exposed to red kryptonite… you still have nightmares. The first thing you do is call Lena. No answer.
“Come on, come on, come on.” You mutter as you try calling her another two times. “Dammit Luthor. Please be okay”
You throw on your clothes, grab your keys, and in a matter of minutes you were in your car flying down the road to LCorp. You were panicking, your mind racing at the thought of Lena being hurt by Kara. You trust your sister with your life, but when red kryptonite was involved, she just wasn't herself.
Your car peels into the parking garage, and you sprint to the elevator. You slam your finger onto the button marked “Labs” about a hundred times before the doors to the elevator even shut. You’re  bouncing on the balls of your feet, and shaking. It seems like ages pass as the elevator descends, eventually finally reaching your destination.
The sound of your boots against the cold polished cement floor resounds throughout the large open room, echoing across the steel and stone walls. “Lena??” You call out to what seems like an empty void. Before you could shout her name again, your phone vibrates in your pocket. It’s from Lena…
“Hey I’m almost to your apartment! Alex told me about Kara. Have a bag packed, we have to get to my safehouse. See you soon, okay?”
“Shit…” You said quietly to yourself.
You turn around, still looking at your messages, to start heading back to the elevator when you collide with someone, causing you to drop your phone as you start to type out your reply. It bounces slightly, landing near the elevator. You stare at the figure in front of you, and your heart sinks deep into your chest, forming a pit in your stomach. You see the unmistakable blue fibers of supergirl’s suit, and your eyes slowly move up, glancing over the ever famous insignia on her chest, finally resting at her face. You swallow hard when you see the red glow pulse through her neck and spread throughout her face.
“Hey… Kara!” You say, feigning a smile.
“Y/N you are the LAST person I wanted to see right now.” she says, her tone unfamiliar and cold. She places her hands on your shoulders, and shoves you to the ground, you let out a sharp intake of breath, realizing that you are truly alone, and unable to call for help.  I could say the same about you. You think to yourself, knowing its best not to provoke her when she’s in this state.
“Kara… I know this isn’t you. It's the red kryptonite…”
“Oh, please. Spare me.” Her words sting, laced with malice.
“I know you would never hurt me.” you say, slowly scooting away from her. “Come back to me, please.” You plead with her, trying desperately to get through to her, despite knowing that it’s a lost cause.
“God, you’re pathetic!” Kara scoffs, slowly descending to the floor, on one knee. She grabs your chin and yanks your face up, forcing you to lock eyes. Her face contorts into a look of disgust and pity. “You are nothing, nobody.” With every word, she gripped your chin harder. You tried to hide your pain, not wanting to antagonize her, but the words hurt just as much as her hold on your face. She stands up, and releases your chin, sauntering around you, still on the cold floor.
“You know what amazes me?” You swallow hard and hum in response.
“Hmm?”
“You and Lena…”
“Excuse me?” you say, your voice breaking slightly.
“Lena is… so unbelievably smart, and beautiful, and talented. She is actually worth something, unlike you.”
“K- Kara, please stop.”
“Now now, don’t beg.” She says in a cloyingly sweet voice, crawling with hate. “You aren’t even a real Danvers. Real Danvers have something going for them. You disgust me.” Her anger was almost tangible. You reached your limit, the last words broke you. You couldn’t hold back your tears any longer, you started to sob silently, looking to the ground.
“Crying, are you? This is pitiful.PITIFUL.” Her voice rose in volume, and she ran to you, rearing her leg back before kicking you almost full force in your ribcage, sending you flying along the floor and into a large metal cabinet, stacked high with glass displays of chemicals and samples. As your body collided with the metal, it created a large dent, and sent the displays above you crashing down, shattering as they landed on your body. The noise was immeasurably loud. You lay there briefly, a crumpled heap, entirely motionless as you began to bleed from numerous cuts from the glass all over the entire left side of your body. There was an especially large cut running from your neck to your collarbone, that was bleeding quite a bit more than the others, forming a small pool of blood on the floor as it dripped, from your semi-conscious body. You struggled with trying to breathe, letting out a small and slow groan. You can feel blood running down your eyebrow, and onto the floor. The pain is so intense, you feel like vomiting. You try to sit up, propping yourself up on your elbows, and you look up trying to see where Kara is.
“Kara… I forgive you.” you croak out, spitting out the blood that had pooled in your mouth. Right as you look up, Kara’s fist collides with the side of your face, knocking you unconscious.
“Y/N??” Lena asks to your empty apartment. “Darling? Did you pack your bag? It’s Kara we have to get somewhere safe…” “Y/N?” she asks again, as she opens the door to your room. “Oh no... “ she sees your keys, phone, and bag are all missing. A pit forms in her stomach as she realises what happened. She immediately pulls out her phone to call Alex.
“Did you get them?”
“No, Alex listen, Y/N went to my labs, they aren’t home. We need to get there, now.”
“On it. I’ll get a squad. Meet me outside.”
You get your hearing back first, you scowl at the ringing in your ears. When that clears up, you realize the pure chaos that had erupted around you.  There’s screaming coming from all directions, loud bangs, followed by even more screaming. You slip in and out of consciousness, slowly getting the rest of your senses back. Someone- Kara, is holding you up like a human shield. Before you can regain full consciousness, a bullet grazes your left arm, causing you to wince in pain. You can hear Kara laughing behind you, and a tear rolls down your cheek. You were shaking uncontrollably, feeling dizzy. Your eyes were unable to focus on anything. You could barely make out the lab around you, you could hear the shouts of your sister amongst the gunshots. She brought the DEO in. You are being rescued. Your eyes settle on the raven-haired woman hiding behind cover nearby. She was holding some sort of gun with a faint green glow emitting from the barrel. You gave her a confused look, unable to comprehend what was happening.
“Lena…?” you whisper, a slight smile appears at the corners of your mouth. Even now, she looked like an angel.
You feel yourself fall to the floor as Kara collapses behind you. You can barely make out a kryptonite laced dart protruding out from the side of Kara’s shoulder. Lena rushes over to you, putting her hands behind your neck, turning your head towards her. She’s crying, and it seems as if she's screaming your name. Lena cradles you in her arms. She’s panicking, not sure where to apply pressure. Blood flowed from so many different wounds all across your body, it was so much blood. Lena felt as if she was going to vomit. You lay motionless in her arms as the world goes dark around you.

I Always Told You I Didn't Like Knives
Tumblr media
Prompt:
anonymous asked:
Could I request a Alex Danvers x reader where reader is a DEO agent and gets hurt on a mission so Alex becomes very protective and refuses to leave readers side?
Pairing: Alex Danvers x Reader
Word Count: 1,782
Warnings: Angst. Blood/Violence. Minor swearing. Bad Writing.
A/N: Sorry If this isn't exactly what you meant when you meant,,, I didn't focus as much on the protective side of things. But!!! I hope you like it!!! Also, its REALLY long aha. Anyways, Enjoy! (Again, sorry that I changed it a little,,, I got carried away.)
Everything was okay in your life right now. You had a job you loved, in a city you loved, and a girlfriend you loved. Everything was okay. J’onn had sent you and Alex on a routine mission to check up on a new cadmus threat that surfaced. He mentioned a weapon that could stand as a threat to Kara, because they manufactured it with kryptonite in order to weaken her. So, since she was at risk, supergirl was ordered to stay on site at the DEO headquarters, much to her dismay. The location of the threat was a cadmus owned warehouse at the base of a mountain far outside of national city. Winn had picked up on the kryptonite signature which is what started this whole thing.
It was you, Alex, and a few recruits. Your squad was armed to the teeth, and alex had her gun (that she loved almost as much as you).  You, however, opted for your knives, that you’ve been favoring for years. Alex had persuaded you to keep a gun in your holster just in case, though. She trusted you, and your skill, but she didn't trust your knives. Especially when the threat was a gun. “I’ll be fine, babe. I always am. I can take care of myself, you know that.” you said to her as she gave you a concerned look.
“I know, (Y/N) I just worry sometimes.” She responded with a sigh. You got up from your seat on the jet across from her, and planted a solid kiss on the top of her head as the plane touched down.
“I think it’s cute that you worry” you whisper, as your hand cups her cheek.
It took around an hour of scouting to make sure the warehouse didn’t come equipped with unnecessary traps, or mines. There were minimal guards outside of the base, which you found odd, but not odd enough to worry you. Alex was quick to take out the two men that stood watch over the side entrance of the massive concrete and steel building. You looked to the recruits, and used two fingers and a pointing motion to order them off to go secure the front entrance, and by the time you looked back to where Alex was, she was gone. Alright, I guess we’re going in. You thought, always impressed with your girlfriend’s audacity.
You slipped into the barely open steel door, your two knives gripped firmly in your hands, blade lightly resting against your forearm as you held them in a defensive position. Something didn’t feel right. Something in your gut was off. The power in the warehouse appeared to be non-functional. None of the lights were on, not even the emergency bulbs you saw that lined the walls inside. Your eyes adjusted to the new, dim light, and they rested upon Alex, who was crouching over a body around twenty or so feet from the door. You walked over to her, and put a hand on her shoulder. “Alex?” you asked. She didn’t look up at you. When she responded her voice was cold, distant.
“They’re dead. The recruits. All of them. This was a trap set up by Lillian.”
You looked around the room. Littered on the cold concrete floor were twelve bodies. All wearing the black DEO standard-issue kevlar. You felt sick. You remembered distinctly ordering them to flank. They listened to you, followed orders.  You slipped your knives back into their place in your thigh strap. “This is my fault. I told them to move to secure the front.” you said to yourself. Alex said nothing, just stood back up from where the body was.
“We need to get out of here. The people that did this could still be in the building.” She said cooly, her hand wrapping around your bicep, and pulling you to the door.
Before you could even take two steps, there was a mechanical thunk, followed by an electric whirr as the lights suddenly turned back on. Not just on- but full force, flood light bright. You instinctively brought your arms up to shield your eyes from the violent change, and Alex did the same. “What the-” Alex was cut off by the sound of gunfire. You were still blinded, and were too busy worrying about the recruits to memorize the layout of the boxes strewn about. Alex, on the other hand, was much more fortunate. Like always, she had everything down to a science. As soon as she heard the gunfire she was safe behind a cluster of metal barrels, never once having to open her eyes. She reached up to you, and pulled you safely down next to her.
As soon as you rested your back against the metal, your eyes adjusted, and your knives were in your hands. Bullets collided with the side of the barrel, grazing the metal and sending small sparks flying into the air. You looked to a stack of scrap metal, that was a risky ten feet away from where you were know, but going there would allow you to get close enough to charge and engage in hand to hand combat, in which, you had an advantage thanks to your knives. Alex gives you a nod, to acknowledge your idea. You duck down under the line of fire, and sprint to the metal. Before you knew it, you were safe, and closer to the threat. As you moved, you looked to the origin of the gunshots. “I spot four agents, all armed with semi-automatic rifles!” you shout to Alex.
“Alright! I’ll take the two nearest me!” she shouts back, holding her pistol tightly against her chest.
She poked her head and arms up above the barrels, and fired three quick shots, downing the two agents in question. The others, closer to you, focused their fire towards her, and she ducked down under the barrels again.
Noticing the opportunity, you ran out from behind your cover, and flipped your knives over, their blades pointing directly at the agent closest to you. By the time he noticed you advancing, it was too late. He fell to the floor, unconscious from the blow you dealt him. Using the hilt of your knife as a bludgeon. You moved from him, to his partner, who was aiming his rifle directly at you. Before he could fire, your knife sliced open the skin of his hand, which caused him to drop his gun. You kicked him in the ribs, and then in the head, to ensure he was out.
“Clear!” you shouted to Alex, who you heard rise up from behind cover. “I think I got them all. Must’ve been an extra guard detail. Still doesn’t explain what killed the recruits though, because four men couldn't take them out.” You said, confused.
“(Y/N) MOVE” You heard Alex scream. Your head whipped around to her, only for your gaze to be met by a massive man, easily a foot taller than you, standing within arms length. How didn’t I hear him??? You thought to yourself. You raised your knives, ready to react, when he lunged at you. There was a massive glowing green sword in his hand, likely the weapon you were sent to destroy, and, before you could move out of the way, It sunk deep into your abdomen, right above your left hip. You cried out in pain, Going limp against the blade. It ripped through your stomach, causing immense agony to ripple through your body. You felt blood begin to seep out from around it. The man released his grip on the handle, satisfied. You heard five responding shots, fired from Alex’s direction. The man collapsed in front of you, littered with bullet holes. You looked up from your stomach, hands gripping the blade protruding from your body, to Alex. She gasped, seeing your wound, and rushed over to you just soon enough to catch you as you fell weakly to the ground.
She set you down carefully and became panicked when she saw how bad it was. “(Y/N) IS DOWN. I REPEAT, (Y/N) IS DOWN!) she screamed frantically over the comms. “SOMEONE GET KARA HERE” she screamed through tears. “It's going to be okay, baby, everything will be okay.” She said softly to you, as your face paled, and your eyes lost focus. You could feel the cold ground grow warm as your blood pooled underneath you. You knew you were losing too much blood. That you might not make it. You swallowed dryly.
“I’m not doing so good, huh?” you asked weakly.
“No, no you’re not, but everything will be okay, I promise. I can't lose you.” Alex said, as she pulled your limp body into her arms. The world went dark as you heard her whisper into your hair: “I can’t lose you.”
Your eyes fluttered open. As they came into focus you realize you recognized the ceiling. You were in the med bay at DEO headquarters. You tried to sit up, only to gasp and cry out in pain, clutching at your side. Tears well up in your eyes, and you glance down to the source of your pain, and see a long line of red begin to blossom across a bandage that was wrapped around the length of your abdomen. There was a stirring sound next to you as Alex woke up, apparently having never left your side. “Oh thank god.” she says, shooting up to pull you into a hug. You winced slightly at the movement, and she released you with whispered “Sorry”s.
“It’s been five days. I thought you’d never wake up.” she says, choking back tears, as her hand gripped yours.
“I’m tougher than I look babe.” you say with a smile and a groan as you shuffled to get comfortable with where you were laying.
“I know- I know.” she responded back. “You really scared me back there.”
“Won’t happen again, I promise”
“It better not. Oh, and I’m not leaving your side until you’re healed.” She said sternly as she tightened her grip on your hand.
“Fine by me” you responded with a smile.
Alex leans over and presses a much-needed kiss to your lips. It was soft, and full of tenderness and care. You sighed into it, you missed the feeling.
When she sat back down, you looked to her, a smile on your lips, and on hers.
“You know-” she said with a raise of her eyebrows. “I always told you I didn’t like knives.”
You laughed as whole-heartedly as you could (without hurting yourself).
“I know babe, I know.” you said quietly as you felt her thumb caress the back of your hand. Everything was okay again.
