i'm afraid i can not top jan's BEAUTIFUL writing. at all. god if i could id eat your writing jan.

my most recent work isnt a fanfic, but i wanna show it anyway if thats okay with people :)

The clothes were second hand, the boots and the tie too, and so made it clear that Kane was not from the upper city. Every stain, every scuff, every little detail of tear and wear. It all added up to the appearance that was Rusthollow.  And he looked like it too.  His frame was thin, too thin to have been fed good, hearty meals his whole life - because he hadn’t. Another indicator that he wasn’t one of them. His hair was dark, curly and messy, and his eyes dark too. His skin was pale - pale as though the sun had never really touched it. But the freckles on his skin somehow managed to stick around despite that. Kane steps around the next corner, quickening his pace. He’s headed for the library with the intent of studying until he can’t physically any longer, until he’s so exhausted he sleeps there and then. It sounds torturous - it is, in many ways - but he has to fight for his place here in the Institute, and with quiet whispers of rebellion from Rusthollow floating in the wind it’s better to be safe than sorry. Because if war breaks out, he and the other scholarship kids will likely be first to go.

Have had a hard couple of days between irl stuff including various assessments, and I've been busy working on August Whump that I can't share, so here, have something from a tentatively drafted chapter of Shenanakins, which always cheers me up to write!

“Anakin?”  The tooka began to purr.  Obi-Wan ran a hand over his beard. It was not beyond the realm of possibility, Anakin changing into an animal. Force knew he changed into his cassius form regularly enough, if only now to annoy Obi-Wan with the fur he shed around the apartment. But a tooka?  He crouched beside it and slowly stretched out a hand towards it.

can we start leaving comments on peoples work more guys <3 ! it takes less than a minute, and i personally get scared to do it because i'm like 'oh but what will they think of me blah blah' STOP. COMMENTS MAKE WRITERS SO HAPPY. ITS SO NICE TO HAVE SOMEONE WRITE BACK AND SAY 'I LOVED THIS DETAIL'. EVEN IF ITS JUST THAT, ITS SO AMAZING.

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

Here you go! I put together the allegiances for moon 12 so if any designs look different or older that’s why. Also if there’s a blank part after a cat that means they’re a kit or apprentice at the start! Also gave some spoilers in the lore after for fun 😈

ThistleStar is the leader of Fieldclan, SnowStar is the leader of Hickoryclan, HazyStar is the leader of Vineclan, and OddStar is the leader of Mothclan!

SnowStar is mates with WisteriaTalon, and they’ve had 2 litters together but both litters did die from the stuff that happened before the story. They have one more litter during the first year tho dw :) OddStar had a mate, but he died aswell. NewtFern is his daughter! The only kit she and his wife had. ThistleStar and HazyStar don’t have any mates but they do have kits later on too muehe. Also! HazyStar is the only one not an elder. Good for her I guess.

tell me about mothclan.... looks at you....

I already did these but I’ll give you an even more detailed rundown of specifically these two’s lore!

You already know about how these two were the original ones in the territory, but even more originally they were one clan! But at this point in history only medicine cats would know via starclan cats, because it’s been so many generations. Even then only certain medicine cats with a strong connection to starclan are aware. The longer and more faded a cat equals the harder it is and more connection you need to reach them in starclan. The only medicine cat that would know is WisteriaTalon from Hickoryclan, she’s been a med cat for a very long time. Now that I think about it I probably should post the clan founders for each clan huh.

Anyways the reason the clan split was because of divorce pretty much. Because of how big the clan was there were multiple leaders and deputies, the leader was a pair of mates and the deputies tended to be a mix of the leaders’ offspring and deserving warriors. Normally there were 3 at a time. One deputy trained to replace a leader if one died, one to order the warrior patrols, one to lead the camp builders since they always needed more room. It’s not entirely sure what happened to cause it (aka I haven’t figured that part out yet) but eventually one of the leaders died and the clan split apart because of it. It essentially turned into a civil war, and one half of the clan moved across the road. When the fight eventually calmed down they decided to stay split and have the gathering place as a sort of meeting area each moon.

The relations between the clans can be finicky, especially for Mothclan and Fieldclan! Both of those clans tend to be a bit apprehensive.

Mothclan is finicky because they’re so used to just having Hickoryclan as a neighbor and the other two clans they’re not as accustomed to. They also will fight if wanted but tend not to.

Fieldclan used to be outsiders and they’re nervous about just living with near so many other cats and smells, over time they warm up to all the other clans dw. Also they do pick fights but only during the gathering.

Vineclan is overall friendly! HazyStar, their leader, is kind of slow with social cues but the other leaders find her endearing and almost like a younger family member since she’s the youngest leader. No fights here unless Fieldclan picks one.

Hickoryclan is neutral with Vineclan and Fieldclan and close with Mothclan! The two clans have been friends for generations and there wasn’t any skirmishes. Just like two big families that are chill with each other. Will not fight with any of the other clans.

Starclan is more individual for these clans! Each cat has their own unique starclan territory they can go to but also there’s the main territory that’s just them watching the living cats and maybe even helping them if they’re spiritually connected enough!

As for martyrs they’d have to do stuff for a lot of cats. So let’s say a cat would help evacuate a camp and save a bunch of others, if they die doing that then others would think of them as a martyr. Like for the tornado that killed a lot of Hickoryclan and Mothclan, they were a few cats (two of them turned into the starclan guides for those clans) who helped most get to safety (which at the time was the gathering place as it was best shielded from the tornado and big enough for both clans) these cats did go down as famous in the clans and they’re there for whatever leader or medicine cat ceremony happens! Nobody knows that yet because no new leaders or med cats for HC and MC have happened since then.
