I know there’s virtually no one left to read this cuz I’ve been so inactive, but despite my lack of Firewall muse (and partners willing to rp with her - there’s like, 2 I know for sure), I need to talk about the culmination of her character arc in Transformers Cybertron.
When she joined the Decepticons, she believed peace would only be achieved through control, and control through subjugation of the enemy. She lost so much during her first few centuries: her home, her guardian, many friends civilian and soldier alike, her first true love - all because she wasn’t there to defend them. Or so she believed. Her desire to slay her enemies to protect her loved ones was fueled with every new loss. She would stay alive to continue the fight, she would live to save whatever was left of her dying world. This was her noble cause.
Firewall lost herself to this goal, to where she became so consumed with fighting that she neglected the Cybertronian in favor of the Cause. But she was not completely lost. A shred of her “humanity”, for lack of a better word, remained in her spark, and that glimmer of her true self rung out in protest when Megatron’s ideals were seen first hand. Her coercive coding began to wear down, and her reevaluation of the events around her hastened this. And when she witnessed Starscream’s death at the hands of Unicron, a death that could have been avoided if Megatron had just listened, Firewall was reacquainted with the pain that drove her to fight so fervently. Only now, her focus returned to the people, to the individuals whose lives were being taken by this endless war. No longer a forceful warrior following orders of her commander for their own sake, Firewall’s personal motivations had returned, and with them, her sense of compassion.
Skipping to the final season of Transformers Cybertron, we see what path the things that Firewall’s learned and witnessed has lead her down. As she had been taken in by the Autobots as a POW on Cybertron, convinced to work with them as they search for the final Planet Key, she sees how similar her original goals were to the Bots, and how they’re not the cruel monsters she was lead to believe they are - not like the blood-thirsty, trigger-happy Decepticons she had been working with thus far. Not like Megatron. In her final confrontation with the warlord, her opposition to his self-serving, needlessly destructive ways becomes solidified, and joins the Cybertron Defense Team in fighting him. Significantly weaker than the Omega Lock-upgraded Autobots, Firewall is quickly defeated and thrown off the side of the opened border to die on the lower levels.
But she wasn’t about to come all this way to die now. Through force of will, the overpowering resolution to defend her allies - her friends - Firewall harnesses the power of the Omega Lock to save herself, she’s reborn as a Seeker. The tops of her wings combine to form a sword which she uses to engage in combat once more, protecting the injured Autobots from Galvatron’s wrath. Among the flames of their battle, she held him off until the call of the final Planet Key rung out, and Galvatron left. Firewall takes flight and begins to pursue him. He’s not getting a chance to escape.
Then she stops.
This is where the completion of her emotional journey finishes. Through her rebirth, she returned to her initial beliefs and prepared to serve the true purpose of Cybertron’s defender. But here, by allowing Galvatron to get away, Firewall finally rejects her need for combat and the belief that it always equates protection. She locks up her sword, turns away from the fight, and turns towards the wounded Autobots. With her help, Red Alert was able to return his team to good health by the time of the next battle. Firewall would live to wield her sword against the enemy again, but from then on, her mind was first and foremost dedicated to the well-being of her people, instead of who stands in her way.
Well, if she’s not losing her parents as teachers... “Okay,” she agreed with a smile and another flick of her wings. Firewall smiled from behind the camera, preparing to wrap it up soon.
👶 Sunbeam: "Are you looking forward to your first day of school?"
Send 👶 and a question for my muse’s child to answer!
The small Seekerling had barely grown past her sire’s knee when she was ready for her first day of formal education. Now that there was no war, educating the next generation didn’t have to be rushed, and could start at the proper age.
“Uh huh!” She answered confidently, “I make a bunch of friends!” In her perception, school was a new place to go to have fun with kids her age.
She wasn’t too happy about that, since she had hardly given thought to being left somewhere without her parents; she thought it would be like the park. Sunbeam clung to his leg, asking one more time, “Daddy teach me to fly, p’eas?” Good manners ought to help her case.

That didn’t seem to help her much. “Can you come with me?” she asked, starting towards him.

Still confused, Sunbeam’s full attention was now on her sire, waiting for him to elaborate. Firewall, thinking this was still cute, continued filming.

Her smile slowly disappeared in confusion. “I thought you teach me, daddy.”
