Being closeted today is such a lonely feeling. I am home from college, and no one around me is feeling the same grief I am. There’s no way to explain why I am so upset without outing myself, and that isn’t a conversation I’m willing to have.

Watching the show was a weird experience. When I read the books as a kid, I was the same age as the characters, so I never thought about how young they actually were.

The actors have made it so, so clear that they were just kids, and it makes me sad. It was sad to see a little kid lose his mom and know that I was his age once.

Anyways, the starry background is there to represent that loss of childhood: five-pointed doodles on schoolwork now glitter ominously behind them. Grover and Annabeth look forward, they grew up quickly in a demigod’s world of loss; but Percy’s face is turned back to the glowing stars, to his childhood, his mom.

Help!

I’m working on a creative project and am stuck on the title! It’s a fantastical queer story set in the wild west. The main characters are witches, and though I love the second title, it feels too serious.

Is it a horse? A dinosaur? A dog? I’m not sure what to call it yet, but I’ve been drawing these feathered pine martin things for a couple years and decided to size them up to be more horse-like for my project: Witch’s Guide to the Wild West! Or Confessions of a Desert Wanderer? Again, nothing with this is concrete.

I’m still figuring out digital art, so it’ll be slow going, but I’ll get character sheets out soon.
