Azula, who is also wearing long robes and some lip, eye, and forehead makeup, stands behind Zuko with a sharp, mischievous smile and shows Izumi a blue flame. Zuko is completely unbothered by the fact and just continues reading.

super cute commission for @princessizumi of zuko and a teenaged izumi! :D we were thinking she’d be a bit looser and cheerful in her younger age; also this wasn’t part of the prompt but i imagine this “photo” was taken the day she graduated from the academy, posing with a proud dad ^^

Don’t worry. They will like you.

It’s just I wanted to draw some Zuko family..I don’t know, in my head Honora might not know Kataang kids for a while.. Considering they all live in Republic city and Zuko and his family is rather far away in the fire nation, busy with all royalty duties. So this is kind of an important meeting, in which Zuko will finally introduce his daughter to those kids:D And she’s is kind of worried hehe

but of course they will like her:D

This is a WIP for an animation featuring Izumi and Bumi (Umi^2/ BuZumi/ Ibumi). It doesn’t have to be a ship, I’d just  like to think Izumi had some history with Bumi so she would trust him to keep an eye on her son when he joined the United Forces. I started this in late August, then put it aside for a long time as we were so close to book 4’s release and I wanted to wait for Izumi’s official design and name to be released. I actually ended up keeping some of my own design elements. The complete scene will have a Southern Water Tribe setting. Izumi is looking to her right because Bumi (invisible here) has snuck up on her. 

The concept came from Iroh mentioning his mother’s ties to the Southern Water Tribe and the Avatar in ‘Peacekeepers’, book 2. Katara probably stayed in Republic City with Aang for the most part but I am sure many family holidays were spent in the South Pole. Perhaps Zuko sent Izumi along with them in order to expose her to different cultures, and for bonding times with the Kataang children? As a teenager, she may have been a bit serious and quiet so she probably would have wanted to spend some time alone, away from the younger children and noisy Bumi.

Izumi practices her firebending (for all I know, she’s a non-bender) in the cold to test her resilience, then Bumi appears behind her. He has been looking for her because he is bored. She is a bit surprised to see him but, even though she is trying to avoid him, she has actually been missing him.  She blushes, just as Mai once blushed when she saw Zuko walking by with his mother. I know Mai may not be Izumi’s mother but I found it sweet. 

The animation is rough, needs tweening, and is missing a lot of elements but I had to post it because I am feeling pleased with myself over this tiny amount of progress.
