Regulus is used to running away. He’s never had many romantic relationships in his life, but the ones he’s had, he always bolts the moment they turn serious. He always walks into a relationship knowing that, at some point, he will turn tail and run; most of the time is when the “L” word is mentioned. He’s not afraid of love per se, if anything, he’s a hopeless romantic. But he is afraid of being left behind, of that special someone finding someone better, someone actually worth their time and leaving Regulus all alone. So he walks into relationships knowing he will leave, knowing that it won’t be permanent. Better leave than get left, right?

The moment he meets Remus, he knows he won’t be able to run for the hills this time. Regulus is fully prepared to get his heart broken the moment his eyes meet Remus’, because he’s in it, he will give this beautiful boy everything he has, everything he is. But habits die hard, and Regulus wakes up some days with a hum on his veins, and a voice in his head telling him that everything is too good to be true, that Remus will abandon him and he walks to their joined closet, pulling it open and ready to grab his clothes, throw them in a suitcase and leave first. But then he sees a dark red cardigan amongst his dress shirts, a piece of clothing that doesn’t belong to him, but rather to the man whose life is bleeding and intertwining with Regulus’.

So he sits on the bed, and cries, because he can’t fathom the idea that this man, this beautiful, gentle and loving man has chosen him. And he cries some more, because for the first time, he’s fallen first; so deeply that he can’t imagine not having Remus in his life. And Remus finds him like that when he gets home, sitting down on their bed, eyes red from crying and the closet door still wide open, and he doesn’t say anything, he sits next to Regulus and wraps his arms around him. And Regulus cries again, because he feels the love Remus has for him in the way his arms wrap gently around him, and the way Remus’ chin rests softly on his head.

So he tells him, about his tendency to run away, about never walking into a relationship fully committed, about counting down the days in his head for when he’ll leave. Remus, kind Remus, listens, and doesn’t judge, and hums to let Regulus he’s here, that he hears him. And when the last word leaves Regulus’ mouth in a shaky exhale, Remus kneels in front of him, but because his boy is tall, he reaches Regulus easily, and holds his face delicately, eyes full of love and adoration.

“I’m not one to get into a relationship if I’m not completely sure that’s what I want, and I want you Regulus Black, I want you for as long as you have me, and then some. I’m not leaving you, I’m never leaving. So baby, you don’t have to bolt anymore.”

And Remus kisses him, softly and reverently, like sealing a promise. A promise he intends on keeping, for as long as he walks the earth, and even after he no longer does, he’ll keep his promise.

so my lily evans has such a strong sense of justice. lily evans WILL call you out, she's such a loyal friend but she isn't afraid to call people out.

she was reading the scum manifesto. she shared it with the girls and she became obsessed with feminist literature. listen. she might appear shy at first but she was also the girl in class that wasn't scared to call biggots out on their bullshit.

Just saw a post about Remus really wanting a cat and him being the biggest cat person and all he wants is to take good care of a little kitty cat but he can’t because cats hate werewolves and it breaks his little heart. And the post was a wolfstar centric post but when I started reading I immediately thought MOONWATERRRR

like Remus who’s always wanted a fucking cat but is now making peace with the fact he will never get to own one (he cries himself to sleep over it sometimes) and then he and regulus start going out

And Remus has made peace with the whole no-cat-thing now because he has a boyfriend and his boyfriend is basically a cat anyway so it’s nice.

But then maybe after Christmas break or something Remus comes back to school and starts whining to his boyfriend about not getting to have a cat and him being jealous because their neighbours little girl got one for Christmas “and that little shit doesn’t even know how to care about one like I would Regulus!!!”

And Reggie supposed they’ve been together long enough and maybe his lies about being in love with Remus are starting to weaken, and maybe all he wants in the world is to make his boyfriend happy which is stupid and he hates it but it’s TRUE. and he trusts Remus, with everything, and so he shows Remus his animagus form and it just makes Remus sob.

He sits there for hours with Reggie as a little black cat, just petting him and cuddling him whilst reading and drinking tea, and it’s the best day of Remus’ life. And maybe it’s the best day of Regulus’ life too because Remus keeps touching him and playing with him and snuggling him and as a cat Reggie doesn’t have to pretend he’s embarrassed by all of that. Maybe it makes him fall in love with Remus a little more.

Regulus and Remus love to game to unwind after a long day.

Remus would be sitting on the couch holding his yellow Nintendo switch lite while playing some relaxing farming or landscaping game like Animal Crossing. Quietly humming to himself while he builds his island and occasionally asking Regulus for advice on decor.

While all that’s happening Regulus would be sitting with his elbows in his knees furiously smashing buttons playing some post-apocalyptic zombie survival game. He would be unexplainably calm as thousands of waves of zombies come rushing at him and he’d have been playing for a while and be relatively good at killing them. When regulus dies I know he definitely puts the controller down, sighs and takes a few steadying breaths to calm down before trying again.

One time regulus and remus decide to swap games. Remus leaves regulus for a few hours with a new island and by the time he comes back he’s made the most atrocious, everything is for practical purposes not aesthetics island ever and Remus is astounded at how someone as beautiful as him could create something that ugly.

When Remus plays regulus’ zombie game he screams through every wave and his blood pressure rises a dangerous amount. He forgets what all the buttons do in a few seconds if regulus telling him and ends up smashing random ones. Remus vowed never to touch that game again for the sake of his mental health. Let’s just say, they have very different tastes in games and will not be swapping any time soon.
