Update + temporary hiatus 🌙

I had hoped to finally work on some backlogged art requests and update Layton and Luke Plush Adventures, but life is a bit topsy-turvy right now and, after some consideration, I think I’ll be taking a break from here for the time being.

It started when my mother’s leg was broken, and though she is thankfully well on the path to healing, she of course needs a lot of assistance in taking care of the house and family (out of necessity, my cooking skills are really growing these days! 0 0). Now my uncle is in the hospital with a very scary health situation. 😓 But we’re all having faith and not giving up, because despite hearing very bad news at first, we’re already seeing amazing improvements! If anyone reading this is of the praying mind, your prayers are deeply appreciated. 🙏

Long story short, it’s a bit chaotic/uncertain right now and I want to focus more on being ready and available until things have stabilized. I might still find the time to work on some things and maybe respond on AO3, but for the time being I won’t be active here. Believing I’ll have good things to share when I come back! 🌻 Stay safe, everyone!

Here's my piece for @apathetik12 as part of the @supermariospringshowers art exchange!

One of the prompts they gave me was "Stargazing", which immediately made me think of my favorite spot on the Comet Observatory! There's something about a patch of grass on an otherwise mostly mechanical ship that looking out to the exact planet it's mimicking that gets to me. Something about being so close to home yet so far away.

Anyways I hope you like this piece! I had a lot of fun making it ^^.

To the Moon and Back (just lead the way)—an Odyssey/Mareach fic 🌕

Good morning, evening, or whatever it may be for you! 👋 I was thinking a lot about the Odyssey’s very unique/memorable ending and the impressions and questions it left me with. After replaying the game for the first time in several years and witnessing the fateful scene again, it’s time to explore those ideas in this, my first Mareach fic! Will you join me? *holds out hand invitingly*

This is also the first story I’ll be updating in chapters as I finish them. I can’t give an exact estimate on how long that will be (especially as some serious family situations are ongoing recently and will require more of my time), but I have most of it drafted, and am currently planning on three parts.

I took a lot of inspiration from the in-game song, “Break Free (Lead the Way)”, which—partly due to where it plays—is totally a Mareach song in my eyes! ❤️💗 Also, the story isn’t only a romance—we’re also gonna see some supportive bestie and brotherly interaction taking a big role in part 2 😉 Feel free to check it out under the cut! they both dive to protect each other at the same time and majorly conk heads

you all know the iconic thing hershel does where he grabs someone and rolls them out of danger? wouldn't it be so awesome if luke did that in NWOS?

think about how funny and/or adorable it could be! it could be some random person, it could be marina if she's in the new game, hell, it could even be hershel himself!

imagine they're in danger and Hershel moves to get Luke out of the way but he has the wind knocked out of him by the unstoppable force of a terrified 14-year-old football tackling directly into his center of mass. they hit the ground awkwardly but they get their arms around each other and manage to roll their way to safety. Luke sits up and starts yelling frantically, asking the professor if he's okay, but all hershel can think is how proud he is of his friend. he's realizing how much Luke truly looks up to him and how much Luke has learned from him, and how lucky he is to have a friend like him.

alternately luke could try to tackle him but he's not strong enough and they just end up falling over in a heap and get absolutely trucked by whatever they're running from

i'm gonna be real I followed you for layton but I got absolutely JUMPSCARED (/vvvvpos) by brothership content while scrolling your blog. I played maybe the first. two islands? (I rescued the two siblings I think) and promptly forgot to keep playing, but you've reinspired me to keep playing!! I'm a sucker for sibling relationships so uh. prepare to see yet another person sobbing over the italians in about five-seven business days

Ohh wow, that’s awesome! 😂 Yeah, I was actually very into M&L when I first made this blog years ago; it took a backseat for awhile, but between Brothership coming out, replaying some of the others, and also due to fan content, I’m really excited about it again! I actually felt a bit bad for those who only followed for PL, but I’m glad it worked out in this case, haha. I’m so tickled to have inspired you to keep playing; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! And I know right; wholesome sibling relationships are the best, and these bros are just 👌👌 so wonderful!

The Concordian sailor suddenly remembers something and reaches into his pouch close to where he keeps his telescope: an Ampberry. He turns to Connie with a determined expression.

“Dr Vulko asked me to carry one, just in case…I think we’re meant to use this…so let’s make Chilliam’s dad eat this to see reason and not miss Chilliam and Burnadette’s wedding.”

Connie nods in agreement, “I believe in you.”

Mario Bros: Matchmaker (fluff piece)

Taking place shortly after the main events of the movie, and before the Bros move to the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario invites Peach to a family outing, prompting the others to talk.

   Mario was quiet as he and Peach took a leisurely stroll. He had invited the princess to join the family as they gathered for a picnic, all wanting to get out of the apartments and enjoy the spring weather. The older twin had been nervous about inviting her.      "You've seen movies, Lu!" he paced. "You take somebody from another world and show em yours and things go crazy!"    His brother stared at him, raising his eyebrow in a perfect mimic of their Uncle Tony. "Bro, this is Peach we're talkin' about. When has she ever gone crazy?" he chuckled. "Ya know, aside from tossing you to the floor and then geeking out over you being human?"    Mario groaned. "Why did I ever tell you that story?" he muttered. It had sent his brother into a fit of giggles as he and Peach explained how they met, and Peach's teasing  offer to re-enact the meeting had only furthered the laughter.

   Now they were in Brooklyn and it was officially Peach's first real time out and about in the city. As they walked, Mario pointed out buildings, explaining what they were. Peach, dressed in white pants and a soft pink shirt with matching tennis shoes, listened intently, only asking questions when he took a break in speaking. As they made their way down the path the sound of children's laughter could be heard and Peach's eyes sparkled as the playground came into view.      "I've never seen anything like this." she breathed. "Is it your version of a training ground?"    He couldn't help it, he laughed only to cringe at himself in the fear of making her uncomfortable.      "Not exactly, they're just places for kids to play and get some exercise."      "It looks wonderful. Oh!" she gasped in delight. "You have swings! Are adults allowed to use them here?" He felt a tug in his chest, a . "Y-Yeah," the blush was rising fast to his cheeks. "I, I could push you, if you want."    With a joyful laugh she grabbed his hand. "C'mon Mustache!" she cheered as they took off. He laughed with her, feeling like a kid again.

   Nearby, Tony shook his head as he leaned against a tree. "Yeesh, he's got it bad. Haven't seen someone that head over heels since you asked Marie to go steady."    Arthur laughed, putting an arm around his wife. "Ah leave em alone, Tony, he needs this, I think."      "He driving you nuts, kiddo?" Tony looked to Luigi.      "You have NO idea!" Luigi groaned. "Ma's gonna have royal grandkids, I swear." More laughter from the others.      "I think it's so sweet." Marianna spoke up. "And I think Peach is a perfect match for him."    The others fell quiet, all thinking about this until a voice started singing quietly. The song sent Tony and Arthur into fits of laughter.    Giovanni was quietly singing 'Matchmaker' from Fiddler on the Roof.

You know that part in Allsand where Luigi hangs onto the tree to distract the angry mob of sharks? And you have to get to the other place while he does that? Yeah I did not realize that was timed; I was just standing there watching him like, “Wow you go Weege, he must have a lot of arm strength hanging on like that…wait why does it look like he’s struggling more—? Wait nonoNONO—”
