Yavanna didn’t make Hobbits. She made Stoors, Fallohides and Harfoots which evolved into Hobbits.

It got me thinking, the reason why Yavanna made the Ents was to protect the earth, plus she helped make the Eagles.

We have Stoors, river-folk. Fallohides, forest-folk. And Harfoots, land-dwellers.

And Stoors were known and common friends of Humans, Fallohides of Elves and Harfoots of Dwarves.

I like to think that Yavanna made them all as protectors/nurturers of their domains, made to watch over the creations of the other Valar.

Also Fallohides were the taller type, lived in forests… maybe that’s why Treebeard didn’t know what Hobbits were because Fallohides migrated away centuries earlier.

Also, Merry and Pippin are Fallohide descendants. In fact most Tooks are which is explained as the reason for their ‘oddness’ but also noble standing.

Also Fallohides being generally 4 feet, something Merry and Pippin surpass after the Entdraught.

Anyway yeah, that was my rant ig, enjoy!

Just when I think I'm done with my Silmarillion crashouts...

I find myself watching the Hobbit. In tears. All because Thorin poo poo's Orcrist and Glamdring.

He doesn't know the elves who weilded those blades lived in Gondolin. That the elves in Goldolin shared his greatest pain. They watched their beloved city burn. They were forced to flee. But they were never able to return.

...Why does it hurt so much??? 🥺

Okay I had another idea for a scene in my fic.

Basically someone in Erebor challenges Bilbo for Thorin’s hand in marriage, in Dwarven culture the challenge is a fight.

The Dwarves watch the challenger walk in with ceremonial gear, confident, smug, ready to tear this pish posh noble Hobbit down a peg.

Then they watch Bilbo enter in the Hobbit Cultures ceremonial gear which is vastly different, like flowers and leaves in his hair and idk how to design an outfit just yet but I’ll get around to it.

Then everyone’s on the edge of their seat before Balin declares the match to start because the Dwarf is saying super cocky stuff to Bilbo.

But then Bilbo, dead faced starts chanting.

There is a Hobbiton language which is a cross of Westron if I remember correctly, but also my headcanon of Hobbits is that they are far more animalistic then most other races.

So chanting more like in Black Panther with the Ebombe (sorry if I misspelled that but also I don’t want to incorporate any of our cultures directly in case I likely accidentally butcher it) but with more animal-like noises.

And it makes the crowd fall silent and throws the challenging Dwarf off his rhythm because of how threatening Bilbo became within mere seconds.

He’s acting like an animal faced with a predator, even though he’s weaker he is also different, he’s chanting things no one else can understand, stomping and everything with locked eyes until the challenge begins. Then, he pounces.

Just had a cultural day at school and it got me thinking of an idea.

There’s Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Humans in Middle Earth, different races and definitely different cultures within them.

It got me thinking of differences in various circumstances, like what dances or music? What art styles? What traditions and holidays and clothes ect…

Ofc we know things like Hobbit and Elven dances and music but I want to go in deeper, like Rivendell, Mirkwood and Lothlorien’s differences. Or Erebor, Iron Hills and the Khazad? And Humans with Gondor, Dale, Rohan ect.

And then we have Aragorn, a man of Gondor raised in Rivendell (plus Dundalain), Legolas being fascinated by Lothlorien and it’s traditions, Gandalf being an expert in every single culture and tradition, often being there for the most important or being apart of it.

Plus Bilbo not only having to adjust to Dwarves but also Erebor, and the Iron Hills when the soldiers arrived. Frodo growing up between Erebor and the Shire… totally.

We all know that Dwalin and Thorin are super close right? I had a thought.

What if Dwalin reminded Thorin of Frerin? His tough shit little cousin trying to cope after Azanulbizar or smt, the battle Thorin lost his little brother in, and he just starts following Thorin around.

When you think about it, Thorin was 53 while Dis, Dain, Balin and Dwalin were 39, 32, 36 and 27 respectively. All children but Thorin was over a decade older then the oldest.

Shout out to big brother Thorin taking in his cousins, btw if you didn’t know Gloin was 16 in Azanulbizar.

Anyway I forgot what I was talking abt, Thorin seeing Frerin in Dwalin and loving his cousin like his little brother

I have this weird obsession/ability which is writing scenes with songs incorporated into them.

Like, when I listen to songs I always imagine them if they were animations/animatics, it’s how I get most of my story ideas, I piece together things I see when I listen, it’s how I can write fight or action scenes cause I can imagine each paragraph like a beat.

I have a playlist with songs I’ve accumulated over like 5 years with over 1000 songs that I’ve liked in the past, maybe I’ll leave a link to it in another post but anyway.

Like I have been struggling to write for the past few weeks but last night and this morning I smashed out half of a nice long scene.

It was for my most recent Modern Hobbit AU (where Bilbo is Fili and Kili’s babysitter) where Bilbo and the boys were dancing and singing in the rain to Ordinary by Alex Warren.

I managed to word vomit depth into Fili and Kili’s unrevealed traumas, Bilbos background and rising emotional stakes and a romantic and cute dance with Bilbo and Thorin.

I’ve never seen it done before though and I can’t help but cringe when it’s finished because I don’t know if it’s too musical theatre or not. I know it’s my fic and I can do what I want but idk, just wanted to put my thoughts on here ig

Went through a couple of phases in the overall design of her, thinking of having Frera as the name, idk where I got it from but shoutout to any fanfics I’ve probably read with her as Frera.

Anyway, presenting Queen of the Iron Hills! Ft Dain and Bilbo too

I keep thinking about the tusks that Dain wears in his beard, and ik he rides a hog but he’s also one of Durins Folk, I like to head canon that Dain was an Ereborian Prince that was married to the Crown Princess of the Iron Hills.

Ik this isn’t lore accurate but idc I digress.

Imagine Dain and his wife Frera. Queen of the Iron Hills with King Consort Lord Dain at her side.

Imagine Dain with his ginger greyish hair, Erebor blue eyes and the tattoos on his forehead, the cuffs and beads in his hair and his scar wearing heavy cloaks and jewellery too.

Then him next to his wife, the Queen with dark skin, dreadlocks and beard braids weaved with metal and gems, furs and royal reds to contrast the Erebor blues, her piercing red eyes and tattoos and paint on her skin, piercings and most of all.

Hogs are Iron Hills steeds, Rams we’re Erebor’s.

Dain wears golden Hog Tusks in his beard. Frera wears Rams Horns adorned in silver in her hair.

Tehe this is going to be fun.

(I also like it cause it makes sense why he was called Lord Dain and not King Dain, also the fact that he ruled over Erebor while he still had the Iron Hills that he was responsible for)

Imagine Dain and Bimbo I mean BeeBoo I mean Bilbo getting along over dinner and Frera and Thorin are watching them because they totally have a thing for dressing their consorts up in jewels, silks and furs.
