It is okay if you want attention, if you want to be held, if you want to be loved, if you want to be told that you look beautiful and that you matter, because you cannot tell it to yourself. Craving affection is absolutely okay. You do not have to go through life alone, my love. You are allowed to take up space and want someone by your side to support you and to simply be with you. It is only human to need another. All of these things are nothing to be ashamed of. (Just make sure that you do not depend your worth on the attention you receive!)

i’m writing a letting to myself, why?? i have no idea, i felt like it was a good decision at 12:42 am on a monday morning, so here we go.

my name is REDACTED, i’m 16 in september and i’ve been dating REDACTED for 8months.

dear self. why can’t you take compliments, people want to make you happy but you never let them, why won’t you let people in and let them care for you.

dear self. why are you so mean to people once they get really close to you, they open their heart and you open yours but your too stupid to truly let them in so what do you do? you push them away, you always do.

dear self. how are you in a relationship when you ruin everything?

dear self. why can’t you be normal? why can’t you be skinny, why can’t you be athletic and attractive?

dear self. why are you so full or hate to no one but yourself, you don’t deserve it.

dear self. why can’t you focus?

dear self, why can’t you get better grades in school, all your teachers are routing for you, even removing work so you’ll do better, but no.. you can’t even do that

dear self. why can’t you realize that they aren’t mad at you, and when someone is mildly upset at you, why do you break down and beat yourself up about it?

dear self. why don’t you love yourself more, you have a beautiful body and deep down you know you do, so why can’t you look in the mirror and appreciate what you’ve been given and love your curves and “lumps” as you would call them. dear self. why are you so stuck up and in your head all the time? why can’t you leave for just one minute to take in what’s happening around you, you’re clueless to everything and you always will be. why can’t you look up and pay attention.

dear self. why are you incapable or learning, you’re failing school and there is no one to blame but yourself, you talk about your fear of failing but won’t even try? why, what could you possibly be scared of at 15, grammar?

dear self, why are you so caring. anyone who needs help you’ll help them, doesn’t matter how many times they’ve wronged, hurt or talked badly about you, you always lend a hand to help. why can’t you help yourself, you can’t even eat normally, what’s wrong with you? dear self. why can’t you wake up and do something good, like shower, school work, work out, something!! what’s wrong with your head, these are simple things so why can’t you do them, are you broken? dear self. why can’t you open yourself up more, why won’t you seek help that you clearly need, why won’t you tell people what’s wrong and what’s bothering you?
