Neil Josten is such a problem child I want to see how he interacts with normal people. Imagine being in a group project for your 8 AM class and you’re paired with Neil Josten of all people. I love him but I would drop the class before working with him on any assignments.

I desperately want a screen adaptation of The Raven Cycle. It doesn’t even have to be that good, I just want something to watch and be able to show to people and go:
“look! there’s my guys! Look how much they care for eachother. Look at their strangeness, their awfulness, their quest, their whimsy. See why I adore their stories?”
If I had this maybe people wouldn’t look at me like I’m insane when I explain my love for this series.

If Gansey was in PJO he would be a child of Aphrodite because how else could you explain the fact that all of his friends were in love with him.
This man wears exclusively boat shoes, pastel polo shirts, and his school uniform. He implied the love of his was a prostitue. He called Ronan his dog. He has the vocabulary of a 70 year old english professor. He’s a loser who I love very much but he should not pull as much as he does.
He’s got to be pretty.

Whenever I see of reviews of people not liking the raven cycle I go through the same thought process. At first i’m so shocked, absurdly angry, and overall confused. How could someone not adore this series?
Once the shock wears off I really take a second to analyze who left the review, and often times, it’s someone who’s just too normal to get these books. These books aren’t for people who have a healthy relationship with sleep, prioritize their mental health, or function well in social situations.
Of course you’re not gonna get it! These are books for people that can’t like things normally, are probably somewhat autistic and undiagnosed. The raven cycle is for the people who latch on to characters really easily and carry them around in their pocket. keep those guys in the mind-crowave.
I know there’s a lot of reasons to not like the books practically speaking, like the iffy writing and questionable plot lines, but you have to look past that. TRC fans are like kids playing with those little gold digging kits from Walmart. You go in thinking “Yeah, I’m absolutely going to get a beautiful, shining, piece of gold!” then you get a small shard of quartz or obsidian and you’re a little bit surprised. Like it’s not the gold you were expecting, but you still got a shiny rock! Cool! And then you just proceed to carry that rock in your pocket everyday and show it to everyone unprompted. That’s exactly how I feel about the Raven Cycle.
After a while I was so attached to these books that I was ignorant to any flaws, much akin to everyone going noseblind in those ferbreeze commercials.
The one star reviews don’t actually offend me, they just make me upset that not everyone can experience these books the way I do.

Do you ever just start actually shaking and screaming and crying over your favorite character? like I know that this guy isn’t real and does not exist but i’m convulsing and crying anyways. then i’ll start thinking to myself like, omg get a grip please. But alas, i do not get a grip.
