being just one part of a whole body where the well being of all of the parts is crucial and affects the whole. you collectively experience pain and joy together and through each experience the bond is strengthened. throw in some Holy Spirit and it's an extension of heaven here on earth!

Being a member means becoming a part of the church so that one can share responsibilities for the physical and spiritual growth of the church and of other members so that everyone can they can help lead each other to glorify God's kingdom.

To be a member of a church... is like dedicating yourself as you would to a serious relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse... you become closer to the core of an entity, and you should care more than the avg joe about the local growth, sustainability, issues, etc. It's a serious commitment where as much as you give into the community, you receive equal or more rewards in spiritual growth. You actively choose to surround yourself with people of like faith and become closer to God. (i think)...

When the welfare of the church becomes your highest priority, even when your opinions may be unpopular. Remaining steadfast in your conviction. In other words, voting.

I think this question kinda goes in hand with what PJ was talking about on Sunday? what I got out of it was that being a member of a church should be about being a part of something with a bigger purpose where each member is serving a purpose with the church and not just being a spectator... the battleship?

also, church is like a city on a hilltop as Jesus illustrated. If so, church is a small city which has all the infrastructure of every operations of this life. rules, finances, relationships, etc. He wants us to show the world on top of a hill showing the world how life is done! So how can you practice that without being a citizen of that city? does that make sense to you?
