We still have to wait patiently until Spring 2019 for “Captain Marvel” to hit the big screens but this week’s geeky adventure is inspired by the trailer which has much-named (I personally met her as Binary with the X-men’s Starjammers) Carol Susan Jane Danvers falling to Earth.

And we lost Marvel legend Stan Lee this week. ‘nuff said.

Welcome, Great Pumpkin! For us ‘80s kids, nothing said Halloween better than “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” making its annual reappearance on Peanuts’ TV home, CBS (Channel 2, if you lived in Los Angeles). Sure, it first aired over a decade before, but Linus’ foolish faith in the mythological holiday icon that made him and poor Sally Brown sit out Trick or Treating to literally sit in a pumpkin patch (the most hypocrite-free and sincerest spot on earth, according to Linus), spoke to our own blind faith.

This 2-part webcomic is a small homage on an appropriate day. Part 2 is next Comic Book Wednesday.

Of course, this web comic was inspired by Apple’s annual gadgets launch, which you can read about here. However, it was also inspired by the Nokia 1100, the circa late 2003 basic phone, that still ranks as the most popular phone ever even today (with over 250 million sold). I bet it was the nifty flashlight on top. Read about it here.

The good news is the next superhero movie is actually less than 2 months away! Yes, Thor 3 AKA Thor: Ragnarok premieres November 3. But if you need a fix before it or Justice League (November 17) hit theaters, The Epic of Gilgamesh and Jason & the Argonauts are indeed the original Superhero and Superhero Team-up. 

The Argonauts line-up even included that other Marvel Comics demi-god Heracles AKA Hercules. And of course, Wonder Woman stand-in, the virgin-hunter Atalanta.
