Walking in Love in Evil Days - Ephesians 5:1-21
All of us have lived through evil days in our lives.  Some have lived through more than others, but all who follow Christ ask the same question.  What are we to do in evil days?  Many answers could be given, but this week we will look at some thoughts from the words of Paul in Ephesians 5. Speaker: Justin P. Sivley

An Apostle's Care for the Church - 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12
On Mother’s Day, our thoughts turn to a passage in 1 Thessalonians where Paul used the image of a mother to describe his care for the church. As we examine the apostle’s words, we also consider the care that each Christians should have for God’s people.

When Artificial Intelligence Prayed for Me - James 5:16
Recently I had a conversation with ChatGPT that had an impact on me. When it told me that it was praying for me, I realized that it feels good to hear those words.  And if it can make someone feel good when a computer program says it, how much more when a brother or sister in Christ, who really can pray for you.

A Church Worthy of Praise - 1 Thessalonians 1
Paul and his companions left the church of Thessalonica shortly after it was planted, and though the church faced challenges, they remained strong, and Paul had glowing praise for them in the beginning of his letter to them.

What If I Sin In Heaven? - 2 Peter 2:4-9
Sometimes, when Christians learn from 2 Peter 2 that there were angels who sinned, a sense of fear sets in wondering, “What if that happens to me in heaven?”  Our goal for this lesson is to answer the question and give hope that we do not have to worry about ending up like those angels once we are at home with our Father. A Little Let Us - Hebrews 10:19-25
The writer of Hebrews has established that we have a great high priest in Christ, and that he has opened the way for us to draw near to God. Having that assurance, we are encouraged to draw near, to hold tight to our faith, and the help “sharpen” one another so that we can serve as we should in the kingdom.

The Better Ministry of Jesus - Hebrews 8
Jesus is our great High Priest.  He now sits at the right hand of God, ministering on our behalf as the mediator of a new and better covenant.  He has opened the door of access to God, and gives us opportunity through the New Covenant to know God and to have our sins truly and completely forgiven.

Good News For All - Acts 10-11
The blessed gospel is for all, the gospel is for all.  Where sin has gone must go his grace the gospel is for all. As the first Gentiles were added to the church, it became clear through the words of the apostle Peter that that gospel which he preached was indeed for all people.  All people should have equal opportunity to hear the gospel, and no one can be excluded from the church if they will…

An Exhortation to Growth - Hebrews 5:11-14
The Christians that are being addressed by the writer of Hebrews had been part of the body of Christ for a while, long enough at least that the writer rebuked them for failing to mature. Where they should have been teaching others, they needed to be taught the basics again. We don’t want to be like those Christians, but we want to go on to maturity, letting their shortcoming teach us what to…

Be Still and Know - Psalm 46
No matter where we look right now, it is apparent that we are living in a world that is in turmoil. Fortunately, there is still rest to be found in God.  Psalm 46 lets us know that even when it seems like our world is falling apart, God is still a source of refuge.

A Better Priesthood - Hebrews 4:14-16
At the heart of the book of Hebrews is the priesthood of Jesus. So much of the argument that is made in the book points back to this point, and paints a picture of a better priesthood than that which came before.

All Things New - Revelation 21:1-5
As the Spring season comes upon us and we see the new growth of the season, it is a reminder that God has promised to make all things new.  Not only does he remind us of this every spring, but he has created something new in each person who has obeyed the gospel, and will make something new for us in the day of Christ’s return.

Worship Him in Song - Psalm 95:1-2
On a day when we gathered with brothers and sisters for a special time of singing, it was good to be reminded what a blessing it is to sing praise to our God.  Psalm 95 encourages us to sing together, to sing with joy, and to sing with thanksgiving.

Zealous for Good Works - Titus 2:11-14
Jesus went around doing good.  He healed, he cast out demons, he fed multitudes, and he taught.  He did it free of charge, and he did it because it brought glory of the Father.  As Christ’s disciples, we must have the same zeal for good works, not doing them to be praised by others, but to bring glory to God.

When You Feel Betrayed - Psalm 27
Sometimes, when someone hurts us, they will not be willing to try to make things right.  In times like these, though we may be able to forgive, there cannot be true reconciliation without repentance.  And often we will continue to feel the hurt even after we have forgiven them.  In times like this, we can lean on God, who will never let us down.

Seventy Times Seven - Matthew 18:21-35
Sparked by a question from one of his disciples, Jesus explained in Matthew 18 that forgiveness is not to have a limit, but that just as God has forgiven us, we must be willing to forgive others.

Living By Faith - Romans 1:16-17
Around Romans Chapter 12 the Apostle Paul shifts his focus from the need for justification and how one is justified, to how those who have been justified through faith in Christ shall live.  Early in the letter he quoted from Habakkuk stating that “the righteous shall live by faith.”  The latter chapters of that letter demonstrate how one lives by faith.
