Check out my friend's upcoming comic! Her research was thorough and admirable for its goal of adapting a piece of Philippine folklore. Thanks @anonabelle, for trusting me with the background concept art for this! Glad our cartoon styles mesh well together :D

SUN SAYS MOON SAYS follows Sun and Moon, who were sent by the Great Gods to bring light to the world of humans. When their child wonders why they are hardly at home at the same time, they decide to share their story. This comic is a retelling of the origin story of the day and night cycle, which takes its cues from the folktale The Sun and The Moon and is set in a world inspired by Philippine folktales and pre-colonial Philippines. It was developed with the aid of the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Animation, Comics and Game Development Grants Program, and will be releasing at the Philippine International Comics Festival on July 5&6, 2025.

The big comic project I've been working on is done! 70 pages, black and white , in an art style that is a mix of everything cartoony that I enjoy.

Currently working on getting physical copies printed out. There's an interest form on my website for anyone wanting a copy.

Hyve’s tastes like the finest vintage due to their divine heritage with a sharpness that stings the nostrils because it’s an evil divine heritage.

Locust’s is wild and citric with a smoky wood scent. That’s githyanki blood warmed up by an infernal atmosphere, and hand-rolled cigarettes, for years. 

5: What does their tent area look like? where do they prefer to pitch their tent (next to water, covered on three sides, etc)?

Hyve pitched their tent further away from everyone because it’s where the camp’s potions are brewed. They usually sleep outside for fresh air but still have space inside to privately change clothes next to the stove. Pretty sure this tent’s a firehazard. 

Locust sets up next to Lae’zel out of a sense of kinship. The interior is padded with carpets and cushions because he can only kneel and crawl in there. He grooms outside where there’s better lighting and his coat hangs on a stand to avoid creasing.

16: What’s the description of their underwear in the inventory menu?

Hyve’s boxer-briefs - Stiff and scratchy with a heavy chemical scent. (If acid can be conjured, so can alkaline.)

Locust’s briefs - Bright red as the hair it covers. (A treat for his bedmates, reactions may vary.)

20: If you were to try pickpocketing them, what would they be carrying?

Aside from their share of potions and elixers, Hyve carries around all the spell scrolls so they won’t use up their spell slots too soon, and their pouch of alchemy ingredients.

Locust has crossbow bolts and scrolls of disguise self for when he needs to hide his race. If you succeed a higher sleight of hand check, enchanted rings for different situations and the party’s collective wallet.

Lae’zel intensely challenges their leadership in Act 1. She urges everyone to head for the creche already while this weak lil dweeb wants to explore all their options first? She’s gonna drag Hyve away from these distractions in that get along shirt.

13: What makes them laugh? What does their laugh sound like?

Astarion’s cheesy pick-up lines, and even cheesier puns from anyone - the good kind of cringe that disarms their tense brain. They keep their laugh down to a chuckle to prevent bursting into an uncontrollable evil laughter.

Locust:

10: Do they prefer speak with dead or speak with animals?

Speak with the Dead to ask to get to the point sooner like if they left treasure and where. Locust is indifferent towards cute critters but he’ll trade nuts to rats in sewers and dungeons for the locations of secret tunnels and rooms.

Dr. Boils enters the game… As a deep gnome druid-necromancer. Whether he likes it or not, he’s smol Hyve’s mentor too.

I have no plans to draw Hyve’s life before Dr. Boils but to expound a bit, they were a ward of the Temple of Kelemvor. The temple took them in from their original adoptive family after Hyve murdered their parents' children. The priests controlled the little bhaalspawn through routine, prayer and guilt but couldn’t stamp down their curiosity towards the temple’s forbidden archives.

sometimes bedside manner plays a big factor in how your healing magic works thank you kindly to @mistercrowbar and @gothicspork for allowing me to borrow their darlings Hyve and Aldiirn as part of the demonstration!
